Depends on the type of party. The parties I used to go to in college would be very, very boring (or annoying) if you weren't drinking.
Now? If its a drinking party (ie. not just the courtesy drink) and I can't drink I wouldn't bother going. It changes the dynamic too much. Being the only sober person in the room is tiresome.

Try a turbo shandy (pint + Smirnoff Ice), and then move on to Lager tops (little bit of lemonade in your pint), then normal Lager. Will definitely get you a taste for the good stuff.
Also, Lager tops as my drink of choice at the moment, makes me think of summer for some indescribable reason...

Probably because a shandy (beer and lemonade) has been a traditional summer drink for a long time. Most summer beers and ales include a bit of citrus flavor.

But I also have a bottle of Lagavulin 16, Balvenie Carribbean Cask 14, Dalmore and Dalwhinnie 15s. I'm always on the lookout for a good single malt to pick up.
