Goose Island Summertime. I just very happily discovered that a small specialty place in my city carries Goose Island stuff. Only in six packs, mind, and they're $9, but feth it. I love their 312, and the Summertime is great too.

Vodka and grape Gatorade, it tastes like Dimetapp and freshman year. It is a good taste.

A nice glass of hardy brothers Merlot. God I love being in Australia, the one thing you can buy. 9 buck bottles of wine which don't taste like a trucker's crack (not that I have tried that).

Would ordrinarily have had a Guinness, put I pulled driver last night.

I don't drink, yet I'm fine with a party-- so obviously I don't have any problems partying without alcoholic beverages.

There's a lot of alcoholics that can't have fun without beer, but that's their problem, not mine.

Depends on the type of party. The parties I used to go to in college would be very, very boring (or annoying) if you weren't drinking.

Now? If its a drinking party (ie. not just the courtesy drink) and I can't drink I wouldn't bother going. It changes the dynamic too much. Being the only sober person in the room is tiresome.

It's certainly not necessary, but it is a handy social lubricant. Definitely helped me relax and control nervousness when I was single and meeting women.

Thats just liquid motivation but it is strange to be in a bar/club meeting chicks with soda in hand.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is my tastey beverage of choice. They were out of it last night at the corner store so I got some Anchor Steam and that was an excellent change of pace. Racer 5 is also very exciting and delicious when out and about with friends as it gets me hyped.

Hoegaarden is one of my wife's favorites. We first encountered it in Amsterdam on our honeymoon, when we went into the brown cafe next door to the apartment we were renting, to get some food, and the nice chick behind the bar advised it was a nice light breakfast beer.

Try a turbo shandy (pint + Smirnoff Ice), and then move on to Lager tops (little bit of lemonade in your pint), then normal Lager. Will definitely get you a taste for the good stuff.

Probably because a shandy (beer and lemonade) has been a traditional summer drink for a long time. Most summer beers and ales include a bit of citrus flavor.

I'm slowly starting to develop a taste for beer. Just had a PBR, mostly because that's what was lying around, but I prefer Kirin, Asahi, or Smithwick's for beer.

In general, though, my preferred alcoholic beverages are whiskey and absinthe.

Last night my standard drink was 1 shot absinthe, 1 shot dry gin, 1 should apple sourz, 1 shot berry sourz, 1 shot vodka and 1 shot blueberry mickey finns all topped up with red bull. 4 of them.

I've been fething mashed all weekend, I've drank Samuel Smiths nut brown ale, Samel Smiths IPA, Peroni, Leffe, Hoegaarden, a few pints from the Captain Cook brewery, several bottles of Newcastle Brown, Boddingtons and about 5 bottles of different real ales that were on offer in Morrisons.

Now I feel two stone heavier and Ill want to shoot myself until about 1400 tomorrow, when the bizarre senseless feelings of dread magically vanish like mist in the sunshine.

And then ill do it all again next weekend, and the cycle will continue until I am dead.

I used to do the baileys in my coffee for the exact same reason, stopped doing it after I got my head chewed off by my GF for being drunk at 10am again! In all fairness when I do baileys in my coffee its about a 50/50 mix, so a few cups of coffee (My norm for when I do drink coffee even without booze) I end up pretty drunk. Now I only do bailey's and coffee when I am having a party weekend

My collection includes some pretty standard American carried whiskys: Glenlivet 18 and 12, Glenfiddich 18, Glenmorangie 10. But I also have a bottle of Lagavulin 16, Balvenie Carribbean Cask 14, Dalmore and Dalwhinnie 15s. I'm always on the lookout for a good single malt to pick up. It doesn't help any that Scotch goes so damn well with cigars
