I really like the Lem Han and thus want to start Chugoku. However, I don't want to wait to start the game, so they will probably be my second faction.
It would be really cool if you had a contest to choose upcoming animal(s) in the game. There are so many that I would like to see, although I must admit that mega chicken cavalry are even cooler than most of the ideas that I have.

We've got a lot of stuff planned based on previous feedback of "oh it'd be great if you had X!", but are working towards getting stuff from the Rulebook out first. We're nearly done getting all of the basic troops done though, so once we're on 'all characters, all the time' releases we'll see about getting some more fan feedback whats next.
It isn't immediately obvious, but that war turtle actually comes with two different bodies, not just leg swaps. The shell is what is swapped between them, which is really handy and will make for super easy magnetizing to use both options.

Besides the Lem Han, Chugoku also has Kong Ming/Celestial Tactician (the cross legged monkey next to the Lem Han), and the Red Claw's Red Wu infantry (the red pandas next to Kong Ming), which come 5 to a box with loads of bits. I have 3 boxes of Red Wu (as Red Claw is becoming my main faction once the chicken cav are finished), and I'm sitting here with a sandwich baggie loaded with extra weapons, arms, heads, quivers. So if you want to start Chugoku, I can help you with a list, since I've been sitting here tweaking one for a few weeks. It's a decently solid 150 Resource list, but it needs some cutting of the fat, as I can't fit certain things in like exemplars

They should put out General Bucko Nuts of the Rouoof Riders next.
Are there plans to release the Conquistador soon? I like its concept art, and if it is not in the work already, I would try a conversion/sculpt of my own for my army.

As my main opponent will be a Vandaland player, that would be an affront to my Mare-Civitas force.
More realistically, I just can't get to Adepticon. Will the model be in open sale there, or just part of the Swag Bag? I could try to get a ninja shopper if it's the first option.

I know I'm late but man, I did not know that! Very cool! I think that is one of my favorite models in the entire range now.

Adepticon Exclusive.
So, with AdeptiCon getting closer will this be order-able through the AdeptiCon website, or the On The Lamb website during the convention? Do you know how much it will be?
Is this a metal model cast by AdeptiCon's own people (not by On The Lamb)?
Due to a Postal System clusterfeth, that will actually not be the sculpt that is given out at Adepticon. It was lost, and we had to send along the Variant:
The Adepticon Sculpt will not be available outside of Adepticon. You'll need to find someone going to the show willing to mule it for you. I do not know the SRP at the show, but I'll see about finding out.
Its being cast by Fortress Figures, rather then BlackOrc or Wehrcast. FF are the folks that normally handle Adepticon's models.
Last week, the first Jacques finally reappeared from the warp, after all 2100 casts were done for the show using the variant sculpt. So the 'shield down' Jacques will become the retail release later this year.

WhiteRoo wrote: Alf, is it too late for me to ask for an Adepticon Jacques of Martinique too?
That depends... I'm honestly not sure how much shipping would cost from the US to Hungary, and for the most part I try to avoid shipping things internationally because a lot can happen between here and there. And I honestly wouldn't want to take your money, buy the fig, ship it out and then have it not arrive :-\
WhiteRoo wrote: How about I place an order for some Brushfire minies after Adepticon and you sneak it into that?
Possibly, but since I live in Ohio and our orders go out from Florida, I'd have to buy it for you, and give it to Cyp or Misk... which is not hard to do.
I don't know if I'm supposed to know her, my name memory is really bad. Who is her?
Thank you for your offer. I would like to warn you that shipping things here is really pricy, that's why I wanted to tie it with my order that I will make some time in the future anyway.
WhiteRoo, we've never met and I have not been posting much, so I'm not surprised ypu didn't recognize me.
I'm happy to pick up an extra Jacques. That way if Cyporiean doesn't have a chance to get one to you, there is a plan B. I was wanting an extra, anway, so I will be happy either way even if I keep another extra Jacques.
Hello everyone. I know I'm rather new to these forums. This being my first post and all. Though I was wondering if there is anyone willing to pick me up a Jacques of Martinique at Adepticon and send it my way? I'll pay for it upfront of course. Just let me know. Thanks!
Hi gang. I'm new to the forum but my request is similar to another I saw: wondering if anyone would be interested in either A) selling their Jacques from the swag bag; or B) purchasing one for me? I'm not able to attend Adepticon but would really like this Brushfire mini.
Of course, I'll pay in advance if someone would be nice enough to help me out.
Okay, I can see this is going to be a common request! Here is what I have done. To keep things simple, I've asked Gymnogyps if I can Paypal her enough funds to pick up several extras at the registration desk. If they have them, she'd pick them up and bring them back to me (we're local) and then I'd contact each of you about payment for the model plus a bit towards shipping. I've done this a number of times before and it would just be "at cost".
So, at this point just keep an eye on this thread after AdeptiCon and we'll update if this venture was successful or not and if it was, I'll send each of you a PM to work out payment and shipping details.
motyak wrote: Not that any of my brushfire minis will end up at that standard, but it's a great promo picture. Did you paint that cyp? Or was it commission?
It was painted by Mathieu Fontaine (Studio Akaranseth), commissioned by Adepticon.
I'll be getting two of the Jaques (one in my swag bag, one in the wife's) and will probably not be keeping either, as I much prefer the other sculpt with the shield up.
If nobody from my local gaming group wants them, I'll probably sell them on the cheap to somebody.

Come find me at the OTLG booth. I'll gladly take them off your hands! I'm the mule bringing extras back so RiTides can send to folks who can't make it to Adepticon. But just a head's up, I'm having to leave Saturday...
I broke down and put some feelers out on the local Warmachine forums to see if any of the guys heading to adepticon want to get rid of a Jacques. Maybe I can grab one without too much work
Anyone that is getting a Jacques be warned, AdeptiCon bagged him with the wrong base. He needs a 30mm round lipped base, but comes with a square base. Model looks good otherwise.
Painted version looks awesome. I'm excited for the alt-sculpt, too!
Really wish I could be in Chi-town...
That being said, I'm upping the ante. I'm looking for a second one. Hopefully RiTides will be able to secure one but if anyone has another copy they want to rid themselves of - I'll gladly take him off your hands!

Gym messaged me yesterday saying there weren't any for sale at the counter, hopefully she was able to rustle some up the more traditional way (it sounded like she had a lead)
If there is any shortage I have a feeling some other DCMs who are at AdeptiCon will be willing to part with theirs after the fact, depending on how many Gym was able to secure.
Gym managed to snag 3 I believe, I have 1 extra (that I need to ship to Caty) and 1 of the ones Gym was supposed to grab. I'm gonna talk with the Wardens of the Maelstrom tomorrow and see if I can't get some off of them.

Can't wait to get my grubby mits on the model... So that it can sit on my pile of stuff to paint and assemble.

I don't have the spare income for shipping things It was also to separate the 2 Jaques I needed from the 5/6 she needed. Also the one I had available to give to Cy didn't have a card with it, so she'll be able to (hopefully) print up a new one before she sends it off.
AdeptiCon was awesome, we spent all our time giving demos and answering questions, and selling some Brushfire. If we had any Endless to sell, we'd be a very happy company atm
Depending on what you want for your birthday, you might still be a sad puppy. Or squirrel. Any particular requests? Some things have to get done before others, so I can possibly get your birthday box out before others.
And for reference, the KS estimated time to have everything shipped is end of August if I recall.

WhiteRoo wrote: And did you guys managed to get any extra Jaques miniatures I can put my hands on?
WhiteRoo, you're first in line for any extras that Gymnogyps got. Afaik she got at least 3, so one of those will be yours.
Unfortunately, if it's only 3 I believe that may be it as of this moment (assuming that Gymnogyps wants to keep one, and as a Vandalands player I have really been after one). If that is the case I will put up a thread in the DCM section looking to see if others might be willing to part with theirs for the other guys who had posted here looking for one.
WhiteRoo- Gym has confirmed that she picked up 3 (one for herself, one for me, and one for you). I will PM you now about it.
Darksteed and Snodherm- Gym told me that Cyp will be shipping her 2 more. So, if this happens and she receives them, these will be for each of you. I'll PM you at that time, assuming things work out.
Cyp- When will you be shipping the 2 models to Gym?
Bit a juggling act here but I think it's going to work out
Alfndrate wrote: For anyone that wants Bearded Highlanders but don't want to play Axony... They're in the Mercs document and cost 12gold per...
All the sculpts are simply amazing. And very shrewd of you to point out Alf since I play Vandalands...
Haha, I play Chugoku, and with the changes coming to them in 2nd ed, I find myself with large amounts of gold and lumber since I'm not spending so much on pikes and crossbows...
If it makes your breath any easier, my semester ends in 3 weeks. If I don't end myself before or just after that point the chickens will flow. Mostly just a question of making sure the weapons come out well at this point, then mass producing giant chickens. The limit at the moment is time.
Available in five or six weeks is good for me. I want to finish my 40K Vendettas first and get my Red Wu washed, built, and converted.
Then the Lem Han can show up so I can clean them up and do a bit of converting while painting the Wu.
The only limitation right now is a way to mass produce the shields and pikes that I am going to build for the Wu. I think I can solve that problem this weekend.
I received the Wehrcast daggeraxes and round shields in both of my boxes of Wu.
However, the daggeraxes are not really pikes and the round shields do not sing "Three Kingdoms" to me. Besides, Alfndrate has a huge army of Red Wu with round shields and daggeraxes so I want something a bit unique. I might bump into him at some Con and want to throw my Chugoku into battle against his force.
It doesn't hurt that I like converting and building more than I like painting and playing. And I really like painting and playing.
EDIT: Is there a drawing of a Red Wu anywhere? I am considering working out a concept sketch or two.
I think it is interesting how none of the concept weapons match the weapons wielded by the actual Red Wu models. Now I am wondering if I also want to convert the sword arms.
I got me a Jacques! The local Privateer Press crew came through for me. I found someone who ended up with a mouse and was willing to trade him to me for an old Warmachine figure I'll never use. In the process I had the chance to give a couple guys a quick rundown of Brushfire's concept.
The Endless figs look great! I can't decide what figure I'm most excited for. Oh wait, yes I can...Beastmen! Interestingly enough the dwarf is the one figure from the earth chest I don't have coming my way. I wasn't a big fan of the early pictures but the little guy has started to grow on me. I'm sure that once I get my hands on my shipment of models that I will want to order more right away.
As for EFT models we haven't seen I think the demonites have me the most intrigued. I would also love to see more of the summoner's creature options as well.
What is the availability of On the Lamb products? TheWarStore and e figures distribution have listed it as preorder for quite some time. Oops. It looks like TheWarStore has their stock in.

Yeah, E-Figures *just* realized late last week that they had gotten our shipment in at the beginning of the month.
About 90% of the Brushfire range should be in that shipment, we were just out of a few Ribenguo models/upcoming releases. A metals restock came in yesterday and we will be sorting through it today to get it in packaging and ready to go out.
Thanks RiTides! Awesome to hear. Though if Cyporiean is Emily from OTL Games, and she hasn't shipped the figures out just yet. She could just put mine in the heap I still have coming my way shortly from the KS.
Just let me know the price you were asking RiTides and I'll make sure you get it for all the help you put out for me.
No problem, but that is a great question. Were you able to ship to Gym last week, Cyp? I think it'd be better to do this separate from the KS models, since Snodherm also wanted one. Just let me know what the status is please

Likely going out tomorrow or Friday, had a bit of a hold up with the package i'm preparing to send to Wehr.
Nooooooo... I just ordered a Ribenguo starter, which will for sure come with the old models. Any ETA on those new ones? I wonder if just waiting to assemble the starter for some new Ashigarus is worth it.
Yeah. Hence the high price of the post, I'm planning to make a big order some time later. because models I want come out one after the other, this time goes further and further back.
My plan was to wait for Frederwerk and Nevsky, now I think I will also wait for the new Asigaru.

Casey's Law wrote: Now that is exciting news! What else is coming in plastic I wonder!? The mind boggles!
We're going to focus on popular things that are expensive for us to continue to produce in metal (generally due to bits) and those that give us constant QC headaches(miscasts/broken bits in shipping). The Otters fought tooth and claw to be first in line..
Don't ask about pricing/model counts yet, we don't have that figured out.
Bob is sculpting these digitally.
The current plan is to use Proxie Models for production.
For what it is worth, I vote for Conscripts in plastics sooner than later. Three out of four bits of the bows and tails have broken on me, without even seeing game yet. Also, plastic being easier to position/convert would help with their numbers.

You know... The Conscripts are the first model released for Brushfire, and got a new weapon option in 2nd Edition...
This is all good news! I still want to know more about the Highlanders though, how many arm combinations are you doing? I'm like a dog with a bone. Boom, boom!
I knew it! This was going to lead to me buying more Otters!
XD
Comeing with the back banners is also VERY exciteing. Trying to scratch built thows from plastic card is prety finicky.

Multiple heads, but one basic body for now in the kit as with most of Axony's units. It'll be resin (the claymore might be a metal bit) so you'll have an easier time converting.
Ultimately they were too drunk to beat the Otters in the fight for first plastic release.
Ultimitly the otters were still a good choice. The cheap hoard infantry like Otters and Rat Raiders kinda need the plastic more. Trying to collect, assemble, and paint a hoard of mutipart metal modles can be over whelming for alot of people.

I've been happy with the bases we've gotten from them, and I saw the shipping containers he did for another company at Adepticon that were quite nice.
We'll be slightly limited by sprue-size and non-slide core molding, but I think we'll be able to make some fantastic plastic kits.
And despite the success many companies have had with Wargames Factory, and the level of quality they produce, I have no desire to move any of our casting out of the states.

I've got some of the aforementioned shipping crates that Cy was talking about. They're well made, they fit together nicely, and the plastic is pretty strong. I'll bring one with me to GenCon (if I remember to )
Or I could send you one (note you still owe me an mkIII marine and a 50mm base no?)
Alf, ill add getting that stuff to you to my list of stuff to get done this week.
I get that you don't want to move production overseas but their are plastic manufacturers in the US with a higher level of injection molding technology...
I'm in a class for work right now but later tonight I'll go more in-depth and include pictures of things that highlight my concern.
Either a Shaka Hog or Highlander, it depends which way I go with the background. Probably a Highlander, I'm also considering putting a Highlander on a Rhino or something to use as a Gecko Rider. That was all BF1e banter though so things might change when I rework for 2e.

What about something like a Hyena Witch Doctor? Tajir is not really a combat character after all.

Rhinos won't be Zabaran mounts (Reytax would have issues with that), They'd either get Turtles on loan from Adwaita or use Ostriches.
A Hyena could be fun although I'm more likely to do a resculpt of a Highlander to fit the role. I'll bare it in mind though, could be a nice break to work on.
Yeh I figured there would be an Issue with Rhinos. I'm not sold on any option at the moment so I'll probably just try and avoid having to take one. Heck, depending on how 2e ends up I might not even take Tajir. The new Mercs limit makes her more than a little bland.
Tajir looks real nice, guys! I'm looking forward to picking her up, even though BF2e looks to be playing havoc with my cold blood's army list and play-style.
Cy or Misk, let me know when you're available to visit and I'll schedule a trip.
That model will create some great scenes on the tabletop. It will be an imposing sight watching him lead a horde of Warhogs across the battlefield and how great will it be to see a bunch of rats or hamsters charging in and trying to take him down.
I wouldn't mind seeing some deeper texturing on the chest and leg skin areas. That is a lot of open space.

I wish the same process had been applied on the jaguar pelt of the Civitan Capybara Capitan, instead of sculpting the "dots" on it. I forgot to fill them before priming, and had to respect them for painting.

The Capt was our 3rd model.. I've had to paint many many more of them then you have... we won't be doing that sort of thing again if I can help it
Wu Xian also doesn't have sculpted Stripes, nor do the Hyenas have spots.

Yeah, Leandro did a fantastic job.. even if he didn't 'get' what the Axe-Pistol was supposed to be
Badger-At-Claw (Discontinued) and Mouse Conscript were the first two, followed by the Capy Capt and Mole Tactician all from Leandro. The Lancers, Weasels, and Juan were the first things Dan did for us shortly after Leandro's second batch.
Head C is meant as a 'Dishonor Guard' helmet, and fluff-wise would be combined with the cloak and pauldron options.
Head D is meant for the Ordenstaat type.
The alt-pose may or may not get used over the standard pose.

Yes, we will. The 'While Supplies Last' tag is more for "we might run out by day 2 of any given show." We will bring a fresh supply of Penultimate Weapons to each show, and Wardens will be able to get them to give out at store events.
I was mostly referring to the "While Supplies Last" part of Misc's post. Who knows how crazy GenCon will be, and if you'll have any left, with your crazy demoer skills.
[R] Heavy Brigadier - Ready to go out, the website will be updated shortly! Gecko Riders - Still having trouble getting the feet of the turtle to cast right, its remade mold is in queue to be the next one done. [R] Badger-At-Claw V2 - Mold is curing and will be done in about 4 hours, we should be casting the first ones late tonight/tomorrow. Badger Grenadier - In the same pot as the BACV2, so it will get casted around the same time as it.
When I pour the Turtle Mold redo I will most likely also put in either Tamatama or Changshu. There won't be much room so I don't want to try to do something with a lot of parts (Highlander, Regulars, Loxodon). We bought a second pressure pot the other day, and I intend to get it setup today so that we can have one pot doing molds (takes about a full day to cure) while the other casts figs (~4hrs per batch). This should mean I will be able to easily spend the week making the billion molds for Loxodon's parts and the other figures, plus a few new EFT molds.

hhuuummmmmm.....
For Troops.... PLEASE REDO THE KIWI RIDERS! They are some of my favourite models in brushfire, and amazing sculpts. But putting them together makes me cry!
T________T
I play both Aquitar and Vandalands, so you can only Imagen my pain!
I would also love to see the Sky Marines get done. Thow I would understand if you hold off to release them along side the Skyhawk Gunship. (That never made the list because I wasn't sure if it was a troop or not...)
For Exemplar's I'd like to see Standard Bearer/drummer Upgrade Packs for all the races that get these as exemplars, plus Sashimonos for Ribenguo. I find flags hard to scratch build.
Ideally our plastic kits will be a hit and we will be able to redo the the Carbineer/Hussar kit in plastic, but they would be down the list a little bit, I'd want to get the Weasel Fusiliers in plastic first. (with a Standard/Drummer upgrade sprue)
Though, being a two-faction kit that does make them of higher importance then say the Gopher Engineers or Civitan Marines...
miskatonicalum wrote: Did you get any of the resin butt Kiwis Lockark? the legs and torso of the kiwi were made into a single part.
Or are you referring to the riders? I'll admit there are a lot of bitz, partly due to the fact that it is making two different models.
Sashimonos will see there way onto the plastic sprue for the Ashigaru!
I only own the old metal ones. I could care less about putting the riders together. Putting together the kiwi's them selves was a knightmare. I wasn't aware that the resin ones fixed this.... In all honesty I wasn't even aware they were now resin!

Cyporiean wrote: Ideally our plastic kits will be a hit and we will be able to redo the the Carbineer/Hussar kit in plastic, but they would be down the list a little bit, I'd want to get the Weasel Fusiliers in plastic first. (with a Standard/Drummer upgrade sprue)
Though, being a two-faction kit that does make them of higher importance then say the Gopher Engineers or Civitan Marines...
In all honesty I'd rather see for example plastic Legion for the exomorphs before plastic kiwi's. It's more important every faction's basic troops are in plastic before something like the kiwi's.

That's the plan actually, focus on the Warbands first for plastic releases.
Can I get a label on things specifying Brushfire or EFT (Okay, I know, this one's obviously EFT... but just saying, some of these animal drawings could be confused )

Looks Very good!
That's what we get for using one artist for everything!
Generally the EFT stuff should be pretty obvious (Humans/Elves/Dwarfs =/= Brushfire), but I'll try to make sure we tag them when posting... especially since we've got things in Brushfire that have names like things in Endless (Trolls!).
Automatically Appended Next Post: Spurred on a bit by RiTides' post, here are the various concepts we have that have not yet been assigned to a sculptor:
Brushfire Axony Thomas Brude - Hero
Bram - Exemplar
Roland - Exemplar
Chugoku Shu Hare - Troop {Art Not Loading}
Wei Pine - Troop {Art Not Loading}
Chi Bi - Hero
Master Jiao - Exemplar
Gan Zi - Exemplar
Pan Yu - Exemplar
Lu Pang - Exemplar
Civitas Conquistador - Hero (Will get a slight redesign before sculpting)
Cult of Exomorphism Jotnar - 120mm Base Troop
Diablo - Hero
Scyzantium Siege Tortoise - 120mm Troop (Will get a slight redesign before sculpting)
I see that the Civitas Conquistador is not on that list, so it's already planned, if I'm not mistaken. Do you have a vague ETA on it? I won't put time on a personal sculpt for it if it's coming moderately quickly.

No, you just caught me between uploads.
The Conq is something I want to get done sooner rather then later, but I think it will end up being tied to the Conscripts plastic kit. (IE We'll have whoever does the Conscripts do the Conq at the same time for consistency.)
Cyporiean wrote: So Feedback request time: Pick 2 Troops, 1 Exemplar*, and 1 Hero for Brushfire that you want to see sculpted sooner rather then Later.
*Other then Nevsky.
Some troops I am very curious to see in sculpt (sorry, not just 2) in no particular order - Veldt Hounds, Soqotran Corsairs, Faravahar, Sohei Toads. Most of these seem to be newer additions to the ranks so lets just say I'm not holding my breath for any of it.
Exemplar - Kardaax. Good artwork that could translate into a great fig. Otherwise Pan Yu, or Bram.
Hero - Zabar Chieftain - How would you even begin to find a proxy on a 60mm base that fits in with the rest of Zabar? Uh-Oh...I just had a horrible thought. I just got my Reaper Bones (with extra fire giants) and I have some metal hippo cav models sitting around. A head swap could get me a passable, if top-heavy, chieftain.

Veldt Hounds are a pretty high personal priority for Zabar, other then Loxodon they have been the most requested thing by Zabar players.

Skorne Warbeasts might be a decent proxy for the interim. I'm fairly sure there is a Rhino amongst them. Its pretty likely we'll have Kardaax's sculptor do Reytax.
Nice summary of concepts still in the pipeline, thanks for posting it!
As for what I'd like to see, I'm partial to the bugs, and someone might start a turtle army with the seige tortoise added to your turtle cav. So, all those would be exciting
But if there are gaps to fill in current factions, that could be more important to more people (like Nevsky for Vandalands, who is already in the queue ).

Siege Tortoise is really a matter of budget more then anything, I know that it will end up being 2~4 times the cost of the most expensive sculpt we've done so far, before we even get to the casting stage. So I gotta make sure we can afford to produce it, and that there will be enough demand to offset that.
The Bugs on the other hand, are coming along smoothly. We're actually going to hold off on releasing them to the public until we have 4~5 units ready to go, and do a big splash release for them. That way a COE player can have a nice variety of options for army building on day one rather then just Legion spam (Not that I have a problem with someone buying 5 Horde Boxes of Legion day 1...). With the 2.0 rules nearly done, we'll likely be releasing the playtest doc for COE soon.

Aye, I think Arctos will be a great boon to the line.
Awesome, thanks for posting that it's really interesting. I'm really tempted to try sculpting my own versions of some of those to see how well I could do.
Alittle more on the planning for CoE.. While overall the insects are a mixed army, and we're not going to restrict your enlistment options, you will see 3+ distinct Hives belonging to the various Queens.
You've already seen the Black Queen, and the Red Queen is visually similar.
North of Axony and surrounded in fog is the isle of webs, home to Queen Medb and her Unseen Court. The Brown Queen is a Wolf Spider (Don't click that..).
While there are 3 Spider Units planned for the faction, this piece of art doesn't represent any of them. Its from Historia Rodentia's bestiary, and might be changed into an Exemplar in the future.

...And then there is also the Queen in Yellow. That piece of art *might* be used for her troops, but I'm not 100% on it.
Random thing I thought/question I once had for Exo's fluff. Since their is spiders in the faction does that make other arachnids (like scorpions) and even other creatures with exoskeletals might be a part of the faction? Stuff like crustaceans (Crabs) and Myriapoda (millipedes and centipedes)?
Even if they aren't playable units, I think it would be a fun nod in the fluff if the Crustacean's names were references to the creatures from lovecraft.
Mantis Shrimp deep ones? Dagon Spider crabs?

Scorpions/Myripoda - Yes, but not at first.. or at least not in CoE, and not as you might expect.
The Deep Ones will be touched upon in the CoE fluff, and a bit more in the FSV fluff. I think we mentioned them slightly in Historia Rodentia.
I can't bring myself to click the link, I hate spiders so bad I might have heart attack or something.
Also, this seems like a decent place to put this: I've decided I am definitely going to try my hand at sculpting something Brushfirey as soon as a finish my Nork Warboss. I've not decided which yet but I want to do something that's less likely to get an official sculpt soon after I'm finished. I'm very open to suggestions, what do you all think?

Perhaps a generic hero from a faction you like. Converting a marmot medic into a tactician general, he's already wearing the fancy hat; A Tanuki samurai wearing a specially painted general's cloak, wielding a signal/battle fan; or A hamster hedge knight, so much fluff, you won't know what to do with yourself!
That's a really nice idea, I could always plunder my Axony warband and make a character for that Highlander army I had planned. Ideally I'd like to scratch sculpt something though as I want to get better at that. It's an option I'm now considering though, it certainly the quickest option too which is a bonus.
I had a long look through the unscheduled artwork and I realised that the big pieces are most appealing to me. It's just what I'm used to sculpting I guess! So the Jotnar and the Siege Tortoise are bumped to the top of my list. If I was going to go more complex then I really love the shapes and pose of the Lu Pang artwork. Lastly, if I decide time is an issue I'll tackle something much smaller like Roland or Bram.
Are any of those 5 likely to get an official miniature very soon? If I get one under my belt that I'm happy with I'm likely to attack the other options including those you suggested.
Excellent . The damsels of darkmeyre (sp?) kickstarter turtle sculpt may give some good inspiration for it, too . Will link later when not on my phone.
Thanks for the heads up, found it, loved it, saved it. That puts the reference folder up to 6 images including Heath's artwork, I'll get some references of actual tortoise later.
Any chance I could get some measurement recommendations from you lovely OTL chaps? I'd rather get this perfect for the job than bash something out lazily. I could definitely use some guidance on my scale measurements before I even build and armature.
Sorry Alf, that was meant to auto append but Dakka just stopped loading from my phone for some really weird reason and you ninjad me. Had to restart to get access again.
Thanks for the info but we have pretty much the same info, frakking huge and a 120mm base. To be specific, I could use a length, height and width. The rest of it will slip together from reference pictures.

I gave you a start place with the Skorne Siege Animantarax
Based on the battlefoam for it, I'm thinking something along these lines:
5 inches tall
6 inches wide
7 inches long
Haha, you know I don't play that blasted game! ...yet.
5x6x7 eh? Shii... I'm going to need like 72inches of greenstuff for that, haha! I'll have to make a tinfoil armature actually or it'll just be a waste. Hmm, that is really a lot bigger than I thought it would be. Ah, well I love a challenge!
A plastic toy is too much of a cop out for me! Nah really though, I'm trying to improve my sculpting so I'm looking to do it all on my own. I've been gradually sculpting more and more of each big project I take on.
5x6x7 will be fine. If you're not sure then I'll wait for conformation but I as I say I won't be starting until after the Nork Warboss is off the bench.
Well, the plastic toy would basically give you the armature with which you then spread your fimo, brown stuff, green stuff, etc... over and sculpt from there.
7 inches tall is way too much for the tortoise itself- if you look at one, they're rather "streamlined" in that they're a bit low to the ground compared to their length.
That foam height is for a big tower-thing on the model. Personally, I'd just grab a base size and go from there.
Given that 120mm = 4.7 inches, I think all of those numbers are too large, as it would be hanging off the base in all directions... but particularly the height.
So, my personal recommendation would be 4.5 inches long (plus tail, which could hang off), 3.5 inches wide, and perhaps 3.5" high for the turtle itself, but adding on additional height for the gun on top.
