Being traditionally a lurker, I still thought this might be of interest;
Cipher Studios has announced imminent Kickstarter for a Hell Dorado expansion, titled Inferno. Looks like each faction gets two new officers and introduction of themed sub-factions, among other things.
Here is a piece of concept art for a Saracen mini
And you can read more about the expansion and see another spoiler here.
Personally, I'm glad Hell Dorado is getting some love from Cipher as well, the original miniature line (by Asmodee) is still fantastic and I find the theme/background of the game quite unique.

Who knows maybe if this KS goes well we might see an Anima Tactics KS soon after, there has been rumours of a second book (saga 3&4) and the Tol Ranko faction floating around for a while now.

They are already in the works on an MMO.
Not much to say about the consistancy, though. In complete agreement.
I picked up a couple of the guys/ gals, and they are .... ok. Not the worst, not the best. After seeing them in the flesh, it's hard for me to want to get more of them.
Hard for me to get into the background, but T and A is a good motivator.

Perhaps with the kickstarter and Cipher's actions to tone down the gore a bit, first by removing the angel rape image from the rule book it will get some attention.
Rules themselves are rather enjoyable.
It took Asmodee (the original French company) ages to release the English translation of the rules, which was rather poorly done. And while there are still tons of support material on the original page, such as "Chronicles" series of narrative campaign, fluff and hobby articles, none of that was ever translated into English.
The angel pic has been taken out for the Cipher's edition of the rules. Personally, I like that the setting is violent, but remains mature; it doesn't glorify the bad stuff, I'd say it even criticizes it. That's one of the things that for me personally really set the setting apart from most of the games on the market, it really is multidimensional.

Again, KS FAQ states they have found an option to send from Spain. That was added only after the KS was published and IIRC you can't edit the text under pledge entries. So (while I can't promise anything) with ha little luck the EU shipping will be lower than what's currently up there.

"With luck" being a very big if. Hopefully someone gets it clarified.
I'll certainly keep an eye on it and if the stretches make it worthwhile then I might go in, but to be honest I still have all my stuff from before, have no interest in a second faction, don't need duplicates of what I do have, and I'm not really happy with the direction the game is heading in (the flamethrower guys' concept art posted months ago was a major warning bell).
I am quite surprised this got funded so quickly though, given that Hell Dorado stuff in general doesn't move that much on ebay (compared to Confrontation at least). Hopefully it does take off, I can finally shift that old-style Saracen starter I've had sat around for years! I'm interested in this one - the miniatures are mostly quite nice, and it is a skirmish scale game.

Having played only a handful of games I can say it's quite fun actually. Even deployment though it can take a while if you follow the book offers a lot of tactical possibility.
The miniatures are very unique to what's out there which is what attracted me to the game. Also you only ever need 5 dice at a time.
With that said I pledged at the hell gate level as I have most of the starters but I may go higher to trade in things for those limited ed minis
29448
Post by: Lucas Blackwolf
@ Alpharius: One example: The skirmishes are heavily defined by scenarios. Terraforming of the table begins by blind bidding on the terrain elements, where having miniatures with scout subtype can be to your advantage in placing the terrain. The terrain elements interact in various ways with the miniatures (ranging from simple obstructions to fields of decomposing bodies and allies trapped in ice that can be freed and join the company) and thematically correspond with different areas in Hell; Icy Wastes, Burning Hell, Necropolis and Howlning Plains.

It is like warmachine but much more refined and not so over the top. Activation is every other models so you go I go. Models function more like multi wound independent models. It uses command instead of focus and the really strong abilities(like feats) make you use permanent command points. It has mentalists with Auras for buffing/debuffing and infernalists spell casters that use lemures tiny familiars to cast spells. I like it better then warmahine. Smaller level and not so over the top.

Game plays like a skirmish game, but the "units" work on thier own. They have leaders, but in the game everyone is in the fight, so with that you don't really need a lot. I picked up a starter set of the Westerners and several Mercenaries figures, then played through with the quick start rules. I kinda like it. The figures are amazing. Begs the question to ask if they will go well in Kingdom death, if you need something with a little more kick. The demons make the ones from GW look like clownshoes.
The scenery acts as a third party player, as well. The stuff that was up is directed more at our spanish speakers, but there are quite a few examples of some pretty creepy stuff that they offer. Example of the NSFW stuff to be found, but you can dig for that yourself, they don't throw it in your face and to be honest, there are quite a few that are just down right creepy.
I really dig the figures, and in the middle of all of my other work, plan to get a couple more of the faction sets after I round out some more mercenaries in there.
Amazing game, and really a good looking KS for what they are asking for.

This is a stream of consciousness style post that will cover pretty much all the basics of what Hell Dorado is (or at least was some years ago when I played it regularly – I have no idea if Cipher have changed any of this). Okay, Hell Dorado in a nutshell:
Basics
- It's a skirmish game; all the models can go off and do their own thing
- It's an alternate activation game (by model)
- A model's activation involves everything it will do that turn - so it will move/charge and attack, or use Orders etc, when it activates. There are no 'phases'
- Each warband has an officer, then several independents (who usually have funky Orders/Auras) and then troopers (who don't)
- Model profiles have quite a few descriptors including a model’s species, gender and religion. Some Abilities, Orders and Auras only affect models of a particular type - it would be possible, for example, to see an Aura that only affected Demonic Atheist women (note that it would affect these models whatever side they were on)
Command Points
- Officers (and some independents) add to a Command total
- Command is defined as Temporary and Permanent - if an Order/Aura does not specify which then it means Temporary
- Most Orders/Auras use Temporary Command, this is replenished at the end of each turn back to whatever the current Permanent score is
- Some powerful Orders/Auras use Permanent Command, this reduces the available Command total for the rest of the game
- If a model that generates Command dies, their value is removed from the Permanent pool immediately (and therefore from the Temporary pool)
- This last point means that if our Officer dies then you've probably lost as your main source of Command is gone
Melee Combat
- Most models have CBT stat, this is essentially how many attack dice they roll, up to 5
- Anything over 5 gives a reroll to the 5 dice (i.e. CBT 8 is 5 attacks + 3 rerolls)
- Anything over 10 adds on direct damage to the combat result (5 attacks + 5 rerolls + direct damage)
- There are a LOT of modifiers that can add to or subtract from your combat stat - no, seriously, LOADS - each combat requires a bit of calculation at the start as they change turn by turn
- The target model has a defence stat and any of the 5 dice that equal or beat this are 'hits'
- Each weapon a model carries has a damage table, you look up the number of hits to see what damage has been done, this is most often HP damage but can also inflict a state (such as 'Stunned')
- The target's armour value is then taken off the damage inflicted to find the number of HP the target actually loses
Ranged Combat
- Handled in a similar way to Melee, but less effective
- Firearms have stupidly long reload times
- Is generally meh
- Exceptions to the above rule are cool things like grenades
Orders
- All Officers and most Independents have orders
- Orders cost Command Points to use, and some can only be used once
- Orders are unique to specific models with 2 exceptions: All officers can use Vae Victis (combat boost for any friendly model) or Vae Soli (activate a 2nd model in a row)
- Depending on the Order, it can be called in addition to a normal action or in place of it (and some Orders can be called at any time)
Auras
- A model with at least one Aura is called a ‘Mentalist’. These are most commonly Independents
- Some Auras need to be activated (exactly like Orders); some are active at all times
- Auras are generally an area buff/debuff rather than a game changing move
States
- Models in Hell Dorado can become afflicted by varying states
- The two most common causes are battlefield effects (such as large areas being on fire – the Consumed state that inflicts damage over time) or a specific state change on a weapon’s damage chart (e.g. Helle Moller is armed with a club that Stuns people)
- Each state has different rules and effects – for example, in addition to stat penalties a Stunned model may neither give or receive Orders
Abilities
- Hell Dorado has a huge long list of Abilities (like Confrontation). Models generally have between 3-6 of these Abilities
- Some Abilities are exclusive to a particular weapon
- Weapons have damage types; some models are particularly resistant or vulnerable to certain types
Magic
- Models who can cast spells are called ‘Infernalists’
- Magic is never cast onto enemy models directly, but onto summoned creatures call Lemures. These Lemures then become controllable models who attempt to get into the right position to use the spell
- Infernalists have a maximum number of times they can cast
- Lemures can be killed before they use their spell, but they are tough so it isn’t easy
- Spells are usually more subtle than the magic in most fantasy games
Terraformation
- Hell Dorado has a system where players compete to be able to put down terrain pieces in areas of the board
- These pieces range from simple obstacles or difficult terrain to gas clouds that drive your fighters into frenzy, or fiery areas that inflict damage
- If both players bid to control the same area of the board it becomes a ‘zone of conflict’, and randomness then ensues, such as the chance of a volcano spontaneously erupting in the area

Trouble with waiting for Confrontation is that you know it will end up a massive disappointment. Confrontation is simply the best wargame ever made, ever. It had great rules, a compelling background and miniatures that were the envy of everyone (at that time).
However, the preview rules from last year were a crushing disappointment in terms of being 'dumbed down'. There's no news on how exactly the game will be coming back - Rackham tried to removed half of the factions when they went to AoR, it's unknown whether Blackball will do the same. After all, not many games have 18 factions ever, it's hard to see how you could relaunch Confrontation with all of them.

I actually like how ranged is handled. I think in some games like war machine ranged combat is OP. Cygnar gun line. In HD it is useful tactically to weaken opponents/finnish them off. It is not a easy mode win. You can take shooting officers to reload your ranged units but it cost extra. Something you need to plan for.

Have the Augustinus figure and it is great, but that was when it was still produced under the previous company. Was told the newer figures' casting isn't as good, but that was done to preserve the molds. The old casting method went through only a few pulls before needing to be replaced.
Anyone have any of the figures since Cipher took over? Hope that rumor isn't true.

pretty sure Cipher cast Augustinus in house. I have compared the asmodee and cipher models I can't see any difference except maybe a slight color difference. Someone told me if you look at them with a magnifying glass the metal is a little more pitted then the asmodee ones but the figures are perfectly good quality.

In case you haven't guessed it the character fighting Abezeth on the cover of the Inferno book is Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. Below is a preview of his concept art.
Sun Wukong
The Monkey King
Immortals
Officer
Sun Wukong, or the Monkey King, is a mischievous and powerful independent demonic entity. The emergence of the Immortal kingdom in Hell is interesting to him and though his motivations tend to be inscrutable, more often than not the interests of Daiyu coincide with his own.

Does anyone know where I can find a description of the play style of each factions ?
67498
Post by: Mahrdol
Here is how I think they play
Concerning the factions - a quick summary about their playstile (based on our group):
Saracens: Possibly the most defensive faction - generally most models have some way to buff / support each other. They have access to all elements - magic, ranged and melee attack.
Westerness: As well more defensive faction with access to all elements: ranged, melee, attack. They are the strongest when it comes to ranged combat: while ranged combat has quite a few limitations in HD it's with magic attacks among the few 'one-sided' attacks. Most models rely as well on some support to be effective.
Demons: Fast and fairly aggressive - they have quite a few strong independents that work well on their own. They have quite a few models with abilities that debuff / control the enemy. They have no access to ranged attack options.
Lost: No access to magic attacks - they are rather 'brute force', aggressive in their approach + fast. If you play with terraformation rules - they usually have an edge when it comes to terrain setup and most of their models can ignore movement penalties by terrain. Support among each other is rather limited. Strong trooper models.
Immortals: A bit like the demons - strong idependents, fast and some magic-using officers and no access to ranged attack. They aren't about controling / debuffing the enemy however - they have something unique: quite a few models have a 'dark' and 'light' profile - giving some flexibility.
Mercenaries: Well - mercenaries. A bit of everything really.

i don't think its going too slow with three weeks to go it still has lots of potential in a time where kickstarters are coming out of the woodwork. The latest stretch goal for this was pretty awesome. It unlocked the ability to buy items as add-ons through the KS that are already available at retail!
I haven't checked the prices against retailers yet, but I imagine they're close to RRP. I guess the "benefits" are that you can use trade-in credit, and it's covered by the KS shipping. Still, it feels like something that should have just been added, rather than an actual stretch, as it's not like a new sculpt or anything...

Post by: Lucas Blackwolf
The 45k stretch goal was added mainly because the backers that are veteran fans wanted cards for the base book profiles and ability to trade the starters for other minis (including old ones) to round out their collections. Trade in prices for these are at between 15 and 20% off their MSRPs.

Do you need the "faction starters" to play that faction, or are those just some suggested models.
Example: I like demons, and their models, but don't really like any of the models in their faction starter.
Thanks.
66410
Post by: recruittons
From what I gather, no. The starters are just an economical way to get 100 pts of an army, which are typically 200 pts.
As for the cards, they are just a means to easily track the special abilities and stats of each individual unit on the field.

I like this. maybe he will give Bran Carnoth a run for my favorite officer.
Quetzalcoatl
Savior of the Nahuatl
Lost Officer
The being now known as Queztalcoatl was once an Aztec. His origin and station in society have long since been forgotten. In 1519 when Cortes was rampaging through Aztec lands, Queztalcoatl found a strange portal in the caves near his village. After showing the other villagers and some scouting of the other side of the portal that had mysteriously appeared in the rock, the villagers decided that this was a portal to Mictlan, the underworld. Quetzalcoatl became convinced that the gods had opened the portal to provide the Aztecs with an escape from the foreign invaders that threatened their way of life. He and the majority of the other villagers decided to withdraw to Mictlan in an attempt to preserve and protect the Aztec’s way of life. The rest of the villagers where sacrificed to show the villagers thanks to the gods for bestowing such a gift upon them. Hell has had its twisting effects on the Aztecs and all that remains of the villagers now is a group of simian Lost tribes, with hazy memories of being human, who revere Queztalcoatl as a quasi-deity and their leader.

I'm currently not a backer and I have looked around for an answer but I have not found one; is there a limit on how many things you can exchange? If not, seems like the Double Hellgate backer level could be used to get one set of the rules and about all the minis for one faction. Would it be abusing the system/jerkish thing to do if one uses the current exchange system for that? It seems like a great deal but against the spirit of what kickstarters should be for.

Would it be abusing the system/jerkish thing to do if one uses the current exchange system for that? It seems like a great deal but against the spirit of what kickstarters should be for.
I think that is the point and why cipher has made all models available so people can bulk up on 1 or 2 factions. I am getting double hellgate and trading in all my starters and 1/2 my books so $180 trade in value. It is an awesome deal because the starters are retail trade in value and most of the miniatures are 20 to 30% off retail.

Michael Legatus
Brilliant Commander
Westerners
Officer
Michael Legatus appeared seemingly out of nowhere in New Jerusalem some months ago. In the short time he has resided there he has built a storied reputation as a commander of men. His understanding of strategy and tactics is remarkable and brilliant. He tends to put the survival of those under his command at the top of his list of priorities so there is no shortage of troops eager to serve in his units. While Legatus is ostensibly a Catholic, many have commented that he does not seem to pay much reverence to the Church, though his knowledge of the bible is uncanny at times. When queried about his origins Legatus states that he has journeyed to Hell to help protect believers and is merely doing Gods will, and that all else before that matters little. New Jerusalem is filled with men who are looking to leave their past behind so this type of story is not uncommon. Most people assume Legatus is of noble stock due to the quality of his weapons and equipment, and general disdain for money.
Something I dug up online after Steven from the KS mentioned it.
As the only angel in the bible to which the title "archangel" was applied, St. Michael has functioned as God's legate, or official emissary, since the dawn of time. Created as a being in the lowest rank of angels, Michael's place was almost at once exalted because it was he who cast down from heaven Satan and the other angels who's sin of pride lost them the sight of God.
Even his name proclaims his function in heaven. Michael means, "Who is as God?" At a time when all angels were being tested of their merit before God, Michael demonstrated his extraordinary zeal for not only the glory of God, but for the salvation of all angels during Satan's rebellion. For this, the Church has always referred to him as princeps militiae caelestis, the prince of heavenly hosts.
In Old Testament times, it was Michael who was the zealous defender of the Israelites. First defending heaven against Satan and his legions, Michael went on to defend all of God's people against their enemies, enemies often inspired by or in league with Satan on earth. It has become accepted that Michael is the Malakh Yahweh, The Angel of the Lord, who appears throughout the Old Testament. This would indeed be consistent with Michael's role as the legate of God to God's own people.

Nasser abd er Rahman
The Magnificent
Saracens
Officer
Nasser headed up one of the Saracen companies deployed to Hell in the search for the gate to Heaven. He has seen extensive action against demonic legions and has seen many of the wonders and horrors of the underworld. After finding the carpet he now utilizes as a mount he has become more and more headstrong and independent. He has seen that it would be more effective to search for the gate with small parties of elite men. Nasser knows that trying to conquer Hell is a fools’ errand, since the land isn’t worth holding and its denizens are essentially without number. This of course puts him somewhat at odds with the people he reports to in the empire, but he is a deft political operator and has yet to suffer for his radical views.

Almost all of the add ons look really poorly priced. They are more expensive than what you can already buy the figures for now from Miniature Market or another discounter.
If the guys buying from Cipher can sell a Damned of Gluttony for $22.49 and make a profit, why is Cipher, who doesnt have any middle man markup, selling it for $26? And if Mini Market has to buy it from a distributor, who buys it from Cipher, that's another level of markup. And that's assuming you get it now, rather than waiting til the target ship date of July for the expansion.
Other than the limited editions, there doesnt seem much reason to pump any more money in this one. Am I missing something obvious?

I think the prices are worthwhile when you are using trade-in credit on the Hell Gate/ Double Hell Gate levels. If you pile on the most discounted items, then the pledge levels will bring that discount into a lot more of a value proposition.
The most discounted minis are...
Guillaume de Sable KS: $10 RRP: $14.99
Husaym al Din: KD $12 RRP: $19.99
Andre de Montbard: KS: $9 RRP: $14.99
Damned Ones of Pride: KS: $21 RRP: $26.99
Augustinus Raimond: KS: $10 RRP: $14.99
Now, these are about what you can pay at discount retailers, but saving on shipping can be a big deal, plus, if you're using trade-in credit from starters and books, these work out to be a pretty decent deal.
Right now, if you pledge Double Hell Gate, $180, and you get 1 of each book (let's assume about $30 from a discount retailer) you'll be getting around 18-19 blisters of minis (some of which will have 2-3) for ~$6 a piece! This also assumes trading in all starters.
For single Hell Gate: Keeping both books (approx $30 value a piece), you'll be getting about 6-7 blisters for $40! Again, this assumes trading the starters.
Not a bad deal, when you add in 1-2 decks of Inferno cards.
Otherwise, if you're just looking to add singles, it could be worthwhile to save on shipping in the US, but there are a lot of great places to get them outside the KS.

Pardon me, Mahrdol, but why are you only gettin $22 for the Inferno book trade-in? I says on the front page that it trades for $30 as well.
Also, you should be getting 2x Inferno decks, unless there is some trade-in deal?

My mistake. A very good deal is even better let me fix it
Now I just need to use up 43 in trade ins.
As a new player the deal must be very good for you getting all those core models. I already have them all.

Oh yes! The core models are going to really get me started here!
Although, since the start of the KS, I've bought Sara Zingerasce, Squamata Trackers, Bran Carnoth, Mourner and Helle Moller, and I'm eyeballing a French Blades for Hire and French Corvus Tormentors at the moment. I'll probably own most of the line by the time this is over

Who is Anne Hale?
A little insight into who the Kickstarter Limited Edition figure is.
Anne Hale
Adventuress
Mercenary
Independent
Anne Hale is a very young women to be out on her own adventuring through the underworld. While she may not be as strong as some men, she more than makes up for it with her quick wits and predilection for causing permanent physical harm. There are stories that she was taught to fight and live off the land by the indigenous tribesmen of the New World.
Other stories say that she didn't come to hell through the gate at New Jerusalem. Instead she rode into the city one day on a horse out of the underworld. Some rumors says she is searching for something that she believes can only be found in Hell. Some say she has come to Hell searching for a beloved suitor. Others still, say she is a witch and practitioner of the black arts. While it is definitely true that there is no love lost between her and the catholic church, as is true about most colonists from the New World. All that most people know for sure is that she is a private women who doesn't share much with others.
Sometimes she joins companies leaving New Jerusalem to make her way. She has also been known to disappear for long periods of time with no known explanation before appearing in the city once again. While it can be hard to trust a person who is so obviously alien to the European way of life and thought, Anne is never short of work when she is looking for it since she has an uncanny ability of finding her way through the shifting and confounding topography of Hell and is an expert linguist, finding it easy to communicate with other humans and the denizens of Hell.
Infernal Crusher
Demons
Trooper
As mentioned in the description of the Infernal Legionnaire’s, Hell’s armies are almost numberless and wildly varied. The infernal crusher is a larger version of the infernal legionnaire. These martially minded demons work in concert with their smaller siblings on the battlefield, delighting in conquest and battle.
Corvus Harriers

Ahh, makes more sense. Similar trade in shenanigans to Relic Knights. Though why they just didn't lower the trade in value and lower the add on cost to keep it more transparent is beyond me. I also didnt note not everything was the same level of discount, which is weird.
You might want to add Zaxan to your list too, since he's cheaper in the KS than I could find anywhere. I didnt care for the studio paint scheme initially on him, but am really digging the infernal hordes in this.

Twilight Knight Cometh to Hell
We are very excited to partner with Kingdom Death to bring our two brutal worlds together with the Pinup Twilight Knight's descent into Hell.
This amazing Special Edition figure re-imagines the Pinup Twilight Knight as she would manifest in the realms of Hell Dorado.
The concept art was illustrated by legendary artist Bertand Benoit (Rackham & Helldorado) with some key art direction provided by Lokman Lam (the artist behind the Pinup Twilight Knight). Sculpting this beautiful figure will be the famous Thomas David.
Kingdom Death is a nightmare horror game with an exquisite line of 35mm miniatures sculpted by many of the industry greats. If you haven't seen it, check out their Monster board game which gained massive support right here on Kickstarter.
It will include a one shot challenge scenario for Kingdom Death Monster.
The Twilight Knight Special Edition will be a $15 Add On.

Just to note, the impression from the two updates is that the KD crossover mini will be scaled to be a HD miniature, just themed and influenced by the KD aesthetic. I'll see if I can track down the exact wording, since KD is 35mm and HD is (I think) 28-30mm.

Sister Eloise Alternate Figure
Wow, in the time it took to get a little shut eye we blasted two goals out of the water. This is pretty exciting and I hope to get a lot more stretch goals up as soon as I can. We've gone past our expectations and it's a whole new world out there at this point. Welcome to all the new backers that have joined in the last day and you'll find a great supportive community here that I know I appreciate greatly.
As many of you guessed, Sister Eloise is the next alternate sculpt, the one alluded to in the earlier 35k stretch goal of the free add on. I've always loved the art and background of Sister Eloise and have been wanting to do an alternate sculpt to really bring it to life.
The leader of the damned forces was an enormous mound of flesh and scales who oozed
some kind of tarry substance. The power of our fort and of our fire was the last shield
remaining between us and that horrendous thing. The cannons fell silent one by
one. The sound of our guns slowly became less intense. Whole groups of Damned
Ones of Wrath were climbing up our walls.
And then there was light! A piercing scream echoed across the plain,
filling our ears to their limits. The dominant demon seemed to fold
up as if he was shaken by some kind of spasm. With a terrible
sucking sound, he deflated until all that was left of him was a
dead, empty, over-stretched skin. Bathed with light, her nudity
barely hidden by a drape of fine cloth, a graceful and beautiful
silhouette was standing there. Her hand was gripping a
strange-looking dagger. She had appeared out of nowhere
and had single-handedly dispatched an enemy who,
alone, would have assuredly have been able to slay a
hundred of our men. The damned ones had stopped
dead in their tracks as if horrified by the loss of their
leader. The woman turned to face us, raising her
arms as if in worship. Her eyes glowed bright in
the semi-darkness, her voice seemed to carry over
a half-league, her tone pure and icy...
"Soldiers of our Lord, your task is only just
beginning. You must rid this newly consecrated
plain of this demonic spawn for such is
your duty. The Lord speaks with my voice,
he watches you at this very moment. May
His enemies and those of His envoy to this
earth perish at my own hand. For such is His
implacable justice!"

Very interested in this, but wary .... religious mythology can be a great foundation for settings and factions (Menoth for example), but a question to those of you with experience:
does this game have a pro-christian bent to it? or does it simply utilize judeo-xtian story concepts?
also, is as much synergy with figures in Hell Dorado required as is with Warmachine and Malfiaux? In other words, does "buy this = you probably need to buy that" kind of approach, or is it not quite so tethered into wicked combos and min / maxing?
Thanks in advance

I say no pro Christian bent, In fact the Christians are portrayed as fairly corrupted by the influences of hell where the Saracens have largely resisted it. The fluff is told from a European perspective.
I don't think any model is auto buy. Some are a little better then others depending on who you use as officers. When I play I handicap myself by using no duplicate models. I do just fine.
There is no really over the top combos like in warmachine. One of the reason I like this game better then warmachine. There is some powerful abilities but imagine when you use them in warmachine you would lose 1/2 to 1/3 of your focus permanently. You really need to weigh your options.

The Backer Kit based surveys are now going out, (they are from Kain (at) cyper-studios.com if you need to green light the email address)
BUT some folk won't get an email as Kai says
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you did NOT choose a Pledge Level and chose No Reward, you will not have received a Survey.
There is no option for me to send you one.
My suspicion is many of you that did so wanted just the Twilight Knight. You must choose a pledge level to receive the Twilight Knight. I apologize if this was not clear in the Update, FAQ, and Comments section. What you will have to do is contact me at kain@cipher-studios.com and tell me which pledge level you would like and I can add you to the BackerKit system.
You can then increase your pledge amount to meet the level and add the Twilight Knight. You will have to pay the extra for the pledge level through the BackerKit system. I would highly recommend the Mercenary Level so you can receive the KS exclusive Anne Hale and avoid paying $5.00 additional shipping if you choose the Lemure level.

I've got my stuff worked out, but holding off on pressing the final button, since I can't actually see what the Hellgate free selections are, and it's unclear.
They seem to say $10 figure, but they also say you can choose a LE figure as well.
Are the Hellgate choices either 1x $10 character, OR a LE figure that can be something like the Traveller Officer or Independant? (even though they're way more than $10?)
Also, anyone know the lockdown date for the pledge manager? So I know when my card will be charged. There was some trouble with my pledge so Kai has been helping me get it fixed, so now I'm at the point of complete and pay.

If you pledged for Hellgate level, you get 1 LE/Alt sculpt figure (which will have a dropdown selector) and 1 free mini/pack worth $10 or less that you can select from EVERYTHING available that you manually type into the field. It's actually pretty great, especially since you can use the $10 to get a second LE/Alt, like the Succubus or Sister Eliose.

Wait, now I'm really confused...
I thought you got Anne Hale by default, plus one additional figure?
Are you saying that you get one figure that CAN BE Anne Hale, or the Traveller, etc, plus one additional $10 mini/pack?
Where does the Twilight Knight fit in? Just as a paid add-on? And which figures are KS-only? Just Anne and the Twilight Knight?

Post by: recruittons
Anne and then twilight knight are ks only, from what I know. Anne is free with hellgate, you don't need to pick her, but they let people who wanted more of her get more.
Essentially an pledge of hellgate is...
Anne Hale
Both book. Tradeable
2 starters. Tradeable.
A lithograph
1 le figure of your choice
1 $10 mini of your choice.
A patch.
A measuring tape.
10 custom dice.

OK thanks. That's more than I expected. I thought it was 2 extra figures, not three. Is the Twilight Knight selectable as the LE figure of your choice?
And any idea when the lockdown is? Has it already happened?

Hmm, not sure about the lockdown, but here is the link to backerkit, you can definitely try and sign in. Although, when the delay was announced, I recall Kai saying the PM would be open until sometime in July now.

As for the Twilight Knight, if I'm remembering my time in the PM correctly, it was on the selector to pick as your LE mini choice.

I don't suppose that anyone might have an extra twilight knight (or the capacity to add one to their pledge)?
I agonized over getting into HD and eventually came down against it, but in the interim not getting another version of Allison has come to pain me...

IIRC Poots said they she WOULD be available in Resin through Kingdom Death at some point.

He sorta intimated that, but knowing KD, it'll be available for 20 minutes on a Tuesday in 2014. Sigh...

If you can't find anyone else to help, I'll do it, though I'm sure with the extra international shipping back to you, I'd understandably not be your first choice...

No worries, Azazelx, I've already sent the offer. I'm going to be adding his Twilight Knight to my pledge manager tonight. Fortunately, the delay gave us plenty of time to get this done

Sent a message to Kai - he said that there's no firm date on the PM closing, but he'll give a couple of weeks notice. SO I guess this one won't be delivering in July...

Probably not, with the artist's hand getting broken and all, it's hard to put a firm date on when he's well enough to start putting pieces into the production line at a really good pace. Although I see that the last update shows at least a small increase in illustration completion. A damn shame, too, since I didn't even order an Inferno book

Trouble in France!
Post GenCon Update
Update #53 · Aug 25, 2013 · 3 comments
GenCon was a whirlwind and we have a slight lull before we hit Pax Prime head on this week. I really enjoyed meeting those of you who stopped by at the booth. It is really heartening to meet face to face people who helped make this project possible. Going to conventions is a great way to get pumped about what we are doing because we get to see people enjoying our games. Being locked away in our small office in our small town can be isolating and shows reinvigorate us with new energy and ideas for bringing great things to you, our customers and fans.
As far as an update on development and production, all the English cards are finished and we're just designing the packaging. All the art is finished for the rulebook and we're just about to hand off the finished English book layout for an editing pass by our playtesters before sending it to the printer. The Twilight Knight is still in sculpting but everything else has been finished through mold making and final miniature production will be wrapped up very shortly after we close the pledge manager.
We have run into some challenges for the French version of the book. We are working through these but they will likely have an impact on our delivery deadline. Translation is ongoing and we are finished with most of it. We are behind schedule but should have all files in a couple weeks. Our main problem however is we've lost distribution in France for our products. Our French distributor has stopped importing all products, including ours, from the USA. The reason they have done this is that even conoslidating orders from many small US publishers into combined shipments, rising shipping costs has made it not finiancially viable for the distributor to import US products. Even though the games are doing relatively well in France we get caught in the cut. This is devestating to us as we have both Anima and Hell Dorado localized in French. I spoke to them at GenCon and we are working on the problem and hope to have a solution soon. This obviously creates a huge problem for us on the production and financial end. With potentially just the French Kickstarter backers as customers we can't do a big print run of the French products as we hoped. We are looking into micro printing solutions to fulfill our obligations to our loyal French backers and are still hoping to re-establish distribution in France. Even with this disheartening development we are working hard on finishing the French version of the book and cards. I will keep everyone updated as things develop.

Heya Guys, Just wanted to let you know that I have been in contact with Kai ( of cipher studios ) and if the artist is ok with it, we are going to make some adjustments to the Cross over Helldorado Twilight Knight to make it more appealing to both fans. I personally felt that for HD it was fine, but I can see why some KD fans have some issues with her.

/sigh. What's the KD fans' problem with it?

I really hope this won't slow down the delivery of the KS goods further. As a KD fan I pledged to pick up the TK and picked up a few Hel Dorado minis I'd always liked but never found a real reason to have. I thought the model fit HD and its style.

Post by: Azazelx
Same here. I backed Helldorado, and picked up the KD figure because it looked decent and fit in with the rest of my models. I don't want to see all my stuff being held up because Poots or some of Poots' fans don't think it looks close enough to the actual KD models. (Because, you know, those are already a thing.)

Should have dates this week. Just waiting to hear back from the printer.

Hello All,
I've got a rough estimated timeline on the printing of the card decks and books. All printing should be done in 17-18 days. Shipping should take 24-30 days to our door. Once it is printed we should have a more exact date on shipping so I'll keep everyone updated as I get more info.
To get these out as soon as possible we will be packing up the orders ready and waiting for the books and cards so the day after they arrive we will begin shipping.
The Twilight Knight has been reworked. The figure on the left is a Hell Dorado miniature, the middle figure is the old Twilight Knight, the one on the right is the reworked one. She's on her way to us so shouldn't cause any delays.

So... we're talking about late December at best, or more likely January. If there are no more delays...
I'm not sure of the details, but apparently involvement/spending time helping/working on with Ninja Division/Robotech Tactics instead of HD put this one back quite a bit - aside from the sculptor's broken hand. Which makes sense, since all the figures appear to have been completed as we're not hearing or seeing anything about them, and we're waiting on the printed materials for 1-2 months now...

Printer Proofs

Hello Everyone,
We got our printer proofs in this week and they look fantastic, even just for digital prints. I knew the Core Deck would be big but it's 2 1/4 inches thick. That's a lot of cards! 170 to be exact. Everything is approved and now it's just a matter of printing and shipping it to us. We're pushing on the printer hard to get these finished printing ASAP. I'll let everyone know when it is finished printing and ready for the boat!
Here's a picture of the proofs.

I wonder if this will be in hand before Christmas? Looks like a lot of these already-very-overdue KS projects simply won't be...

Info on the Hell Dorado/Kingdom Death Cross Over mini from Adam:
@Daniel Magnan, The Helldorado crossover miniature does not come with any KD:M rules. They will be released at a later time online, once KD fulfillment is underway.
...and since the only thing I ordered (sadly!) from this KS was the KD mini, and since I recently received a shipping notice from them...!

So I didn't get any shipping info but my pledge showed up yesterday. Everything looks great and was correct. My only issue was they shipped the rulebooks (which are gorgeous) in nothing but an envelope, which resulted in one of the corners pretty banged up. Not a huge deal, but worth a mention. Overall, very happy with this.
