What thing would you be in 40k: I'm talking about actual troops not machines or special characters. MC's count though. Now I know we will get a lot of people saying Space Marine but I still think there is better stuff I would either be a Tau because they get awesome Eutopian societies and really cool new technology or a Scourge just cuz they can fly. Being a marine would be fun as hell though...

Tempted to pick Assault marine of the Raven Guard, or perhaps a sniper scout. Stealthy, swift, Guerrilla warfare FTW.

Cadian Sniper would appeal to me too, I'd be a particularly chilling one with icy blue eyes and a certain disregard for corpses, often using them as decoys (think Ed Harris in 'Enemy at the Gates.') Keeping with the grimdark theme and everything.

Being a Tau auxiliary seems alright, benefits of Tau technology and better freedoms than that of the Imperium, guess I'd be happiest in that sort of situation.

Then there's always Kharn the betrayer, Awesome Red armour, a GIANT AXE that once belonged to a Primarch, that and you have an excuse for being so goddamn angry all the time, and people stay out of your way so you can chop and crush fools in peace.

I'd be the guy in the chaos warband that crafts all those spikes and horns and snarling demon faces on everyones armor. Clearly the marines don't have time for that sort of thing, daemons would just slap tentacles everywhere and your average cultist is a drooling flatliner.
Look at all that art in the books of these giant guys with their elaborate suits of baroque gold and brass armor, that is some beautiful craftsmanship. I would be the Michelangelo of chaos armor, putting Sistine chapels on screaming breastplates. People would argue whether the portrait of the daemonette Mona Lisa on Lucius the eternal's armor was smiling for a reason, right before he stabbed them.
