I've got a skullhamma and a stompa. I doubt that I'm going to buy any more superheavy kits, but I might build some from scratch or kitbash smaller vehicles / non-GW models.

None. Its unlikely I will ever own one. I enjoy small skirmish games. I find the game is at its best when standard guardsmen are able to shine & save the day. Difficult for that to happen when D templates the size of kitchen plates are being tossed around every turn.

In our apoc games, we usually have about 4 to 10 Baneblades of various kind. They go down rather easily. You'll be lucky if they last for two turns. Note that a superheavy can enter play at the beginning of each of your turns, also in turn 1. So it can shoot first before it gets targeted.

With Necrons, stripping hull points is rather easy. But a Baneblade has nine of them and superheavies ignore all damage results (though HP are stripped off anyway) up to the ''destroyed'' one.

I dislike the idea of Super-Heavies in normal games, so I won't be making use of the new supplement.

I've wanted to get a Glaive from FW when they were announced, I'm not sure if I'm any more inclined to get one now then I was before.

I'm conflicted. I really like the model for the Eldar Scorpion Type II. And I'd like to field it just because it looks cool and would fit with my fluff-tastic army.

However, I consider D-weapons to be a disaster in a normal game and though I'd love to think Escalation will be well-thought out, balanced, etc., my actual expectation is that it will be a disaster of Biblical proportions.

So tricky question - I might well buy the model, but I can't see myself using it except experimentally for knock-about games.

Could always houserule it a less unreasonable gun, knas.

I own a Hellsword (Baneblade with flame weapons ) and a Shadowsword kit that I've built and magnetised so I can field it as any of the variants that kit can build. Don't plan to buy any more, although I've wanted a Vampire since I was... well, I don't remember how old I was, but it was when it came out.

Want: Macharius Vulcan. I've always wanted a Macharius for the centerpiece of my Death Korps, and if escalation let's me get more use out of, I'll incorporate it into the normal list, rather than an "apoc-only" thing for sometime well down the line.

I've also been partial to the Valdor Tank Hunter, but it got nerfed hard in the last Forgeworld update. Used to shoot D3 St10 Ap1 which automatically cause a "stunned" result in addition to whatever else you roll, now it's just one shot.

My scratch builds for pylons are actually built to look like the real deal and I take some careful time into the details, necrons don't really have much for superheavies besides the huge plastic kit and the pylon and since I don't feel like throwing a ton of money at a plastic kit I will only use once in a blue moon when an apoc event is going on I figured I would make a pylon since it is the classic cron superheavy and isn't too complicated of a superheavy to scratch build and isn't some rediculous OP killing monster like a double turbo laser warhound. That said, I'm having someone paint up a Lord of Skulls for my World Eaters army, though I'm not sure if I'll ever play a game with them or if I'll just sell them.

If GW were to release a plastic thunderhawk priced at $250 or less, I would buy one immediately and another as soon as possible after that.

Use to have a couple IG tanks. Sold them recently for lack of use. Not regretting it with this though. They'd just be broken in a 2k game.

the "specials" are a massive War Zeppelin that drops tons of heavy bombs and things, and a Nuclear Cannon, but they are not allowed to play... but its still awesome to have them.

I was forbidden to join an Apoc match recently at my local store since I have so much firepower and BIG templates I can throw around. The teams didn't have any super heavies of any kind.

I don't have any as our armies and table aren't big enough for Apoc.

Well, we have a bimonthly local 40k tournament. I guess one of our next tournaments, not December, but February, could include the Escalation rules.

I have a kit-bashed thunder hawk. I am curious to see what other super heavies the space marines will get. If they are pushing the FW angle my guess is the Fellblade will be in there and that'll be it. Now, since my models are all painted Dark Angels and currently there are no true DA super heavies and the book claims to provide at least one super heavy for each army I'm expecting the data sheets to be repeated for the various marine chapaters with thier own codex, but here is hoping for some sort of super awesome plasma monster for the DA.

If the space marine super heavy tank is allowed in escalation, then perhaps i might get one of those... though again, pricey. I'm not sure what the Tau one is going to be.

I guess i could ally some guard in or something for access to the baneblades, which is really what i like, but i'll really have to see how that plays out.


I think at the end of the day it's really going to depend what super heavies are available for my army, and my most often opponents. There's not much point in me buying a superheavy if most of my playgroup doesn't plan on expanding into it. Still might though, you never know.

I have a Harridan which I got just for the looks and to paint it. And I swear I will .... someday. Really want to get a hierophant for the same reason.

Seems like hierodules might work pretty well in 40k. They match up pretty well to wraithknights stat wise, just have the gargantuan rules.

I've always half-heartedly planned on getting a Shadowsword for a centre piece when I finally decide my IG collection is complete.

The Legion Glaive for HH/marines is a beautiful tank that I want to buy as well.

Technically, a Titan is an Imperial walker class - the Stompa is a "super heavy walker." Technically.

I think the new FW bundles are pretty solid for Titans... it's expensive, but you could get a Warhound almost free I think with the pricing shown. That's a good deal, just wish I could let my wife let me swing the $1500 for it.

I have these plus an unpainted Stompa. I don't plan on getting more for this supplement as I believe that Superheavies should be for Apocalypse only.

wow....thats a lot of stuff, most of it I got second hand, or ebay, or required a lot of work, so while it looks like a ton of cash, not really (for example, I got the two baneblades for less than $100, I got the heriophant for $150, and I got three hierodules for about $120).

I have 2 Tigersharks AX-1-0 and 2 custom Tau Area Denial Nodes. I plan on buying 2 more AX-1-0 and scratch building 3 more ADN's.

Good luck with that. I'm working on a Thunderhawk now, and they're so much ridiculously bigger than stormravens, it would look very silly.

I own a Stompa and a Kill Bursta. I don't plan on buying any more, but I have several models in various stages of being built, such as a Warhound, a Hellbadger converted to a Thunderhawk, a half-done Skullhamma, and a giant Ork.... thing.

What are your suggestions on how to take out other SH and GCs because like you essentially said, Tau don't have any SH that are actually worthwhile to play.

Wait a few days for Forge World to release their PDF? It's near as makes no difference confirmed that all or most fw super-heavies will be getting converted to lords of war - we're just waiting for them to release the document.

Is there an estimated time of arrival on the doc?

I have four painted stompas, one with the big belly gun, two relatively stock ones, one with the tractor beam arm thing.
A painted gargantuan squiggoth and two giant squiggoths.
A partially converted baneblade, it will be a skullhammer, I guess at some point.

For Tyranids,
I have a couple of Hierodules (they're unassembled at the moment). My Tyranids army is pretty small at this point, but should grow next year, once the new codex arrives.

For Space Marines,
I would like to get a Thunderhawk or two (one regular and one of the vehicle transport ones) for my Crimson Fists at some point, but I'm not in any rush, still have some Stormravens and Stormtalons to paint up first.

Note none of this has anything to do with escalation. I have the stompas for when I did a few apoc games when it came over several years ago. The rest are really just to expand my armies, I rarely game, apoc or otherwise these days.

I don't currently have any, and I'm not too fond of the idea of using them in regular games. Especially ones with D weapons. Even just for modeling purposes I reckon I could buy a Baneblade kit at some point - I'm not really even sure what variant is what, but some of them look quite nice.

Another is the Stompa. But there's a problem with that, so to speak. It seems the GW Stompa has a set configuration. And I don't really like the GW Stompa's head. The FW Stompa however is basically twice the price and doesn't seem to have the correct weapon options available, which sucks. And while the FW Stompa's head is available separately, can you fit that on the GW Stompa? The lower body seems to be the same between the two, but I dunno about the head mount area. Now, if I only get it for the modeling aspect I suppose it doesn't matter, but it does if I end up playing with it, whether in Apoc (well, there I could use the FW rules, but even then the shooty weapon options don't seem to be available to buy anymore) or with Escalation. For that matter the FW CC arm and the shoulder plates look much nicer than the GW ones, too. So I dunno what to do

What do you guys think about the Tiger Shark AX10? I don't have any Super Heavies currently but I am debating on weather or not to get one. From what I have heard, it is really a Titan killer. What do you think?

I am going to pick up a Tau AX10 one the FW PDF drops later this week. (yes it was confirmed) and (As long as the AX10 has good stats like in Apoc, it is a Titan killer, and thats all that Tau needs to still be top tier)

aren't there scratchbuild baneblade plans from the old school white dwarf floating around the net still? the scale is a bit larger than the plastic ones but ... wouldn't be hard to do 3 at a time if you had the time and money (which would be a lot less than buying 3 on ebay / GW)

Yes, those plans are still out there.
I started one when that WD issue was current.

I tried to finish it when I managed to find another copy years later - then I stopped playing 40k and it still sits unfinished.
