The new book ''Escalation'' makes it possible to field Superheavies in normal 40k games.

Have: Obelisk, trancendental C'tan, Shadowsword (Baneblade with titan killer 5'' template), and Ork Stompa.

Buy: none at the moment.

I've got a skullhamma and a stompa. I doubt that I'm going to buy any more superheavy kits, but I might build some from scratch or kitbash smaller vehicles / non-GW models.

I have none. I'm going to see how this book takes off. If it is not widely accepted for gameplay, I doubt I'll buy any superheavies.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

None. Its unlikely I will ever own one. I enjoy small skirmish games. I find the game is at its best when standard guardsmen are able to shine & save the day. Difficult for that to happen when D templates the size of kitchen plates are being tossed around every turn.

None and none. I play Eldar I won't buy a Titan. I don't care for the model. Depending on how the rules shake down I'd play against super heavies though.

Not buying any. Already own a gargantuan squiggoth. If the escalation book doesn't have the gargantuan squig in it I wont bother buying it.

None and none, it'd clash with my foot 'guard army.

If I was running mech and I had a lot of money to burn though, I'd totally get a CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT.

What someone online on the other side of the world that you've never met says should never deter you from taking a unit for being either weak or OP. The community is a great place to come for tactics advice, and there is a lot of very sound opinions and idea out there, but at the end of the day, play the game how you want to... Don't worry about the hordes of Dakka descending on your gaming club to arrest you for taking one heldrake or not using a screamerstar. Knowing the standard opinion (and that's all it is) on what is good/bad and conforming to that opinion religiously are two entirely separate things.

Does having super heavies mean that 40k turns more into a game of one or two units to carry the weight and all other units are cheerleaders?
Then again, I run Necrons and love running against armies that bank on heavy vehicles.

In our apoc games, we usually have about 4 to 10 Baneblades of various kind. They go down rather easily. You'll be lucky if they last for two turns. Note that a superheavy can enter play at the beginning of each of your turns, also in turn 1. So it can shoot first before it gets targeted.

With Necrons, stripping hull points is rather easy. But a Baneblade has nine of them and superheavies ignore all damage results (though HP are stripped off anyway) up to the ''destroyed'' one.

I dislike the idea of Super-Heavies in normal games, so I won't be making use of the new supplement.

I have 2 Dreamforge leviathans, one Crusader and one Mortis. They'll be warhounds for my chaos and Imperial armies. I've always wanted to get a baneblade, and this will be a good excuse. Those will be the only ones for me I think, none for my 'crons and no other GW superheavies.

Don't own any super heavies presently. No plans to purchase any either. Just decided to take a month or two break from 40k due to the GW employees already pushing the super heavy thing. Very annoying.

I'm conflicted. I really like the model for the Eldar Scorpion Type II. And I'd like to field it just because it looks cool and would fit with my fluff-tastic army.

However, I consider D-weapons to be a disaster in a normal game and though I'd love to think Escalation will be well-thought out, balanced, etc., my actual expectation is that it will be a disaster of Biblical proportions.

So tricky question - I might well buy the model, but I can't see myself using it except experimentally for knock-about games.

Could always houserule it a less unreasonable gun, knas.

I own a Hellsword (Baneblade with flame weapons ) and a Shadowsword kit that I've built and magnetised so I can field it as any of the variants that kit can build. Don't plan to buy any more, although I've wanted a Vampire since I was... well, I don't remember how old I was, but it was when it came out.

Have: Baneblade

Want: Macharius Vulcan. I've always wanted a Macharius for the centerpiece of my Death Korps, and if escalation let's me get more use out of, I'll incorporate it into the normal list, rather than an "apoc-only" thing for sometime well down the line.

I've also been partial to the Valdor Tank Hunter, but it got nerfed hard in the last Forgeworld update. Used to shoot D3 St10 Ap1 which automatically cause a "stunned" result in addition to whatever else you roll, now it's just one shot.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.
