As Bobthehero says, no Medals for the Death Korps (even though the Senior Officer is wearing some). When found, he'll get either the mercy of the Emperor or a new gas mask and a few stitches to hold his guts in place.

Stiches? Surely you spoil them! Panner pole in the back of the trousers, he can hold in his guts with one hand and proficiently fire his lasgun with the other.

Hey!!!!....why are you posting pictures of my Death Korps?...

Heh, anyway, fantastic looking stuff, I'm not sure how expensive this lot is for you, but you must be keeping Forgeworld happy!

Love it.

What happened last time?

So, why would I need a 2nd Grenadier Centaur? First, I had planned to use LESS Grenadiers, not more. But despite most of the Siege Regiment Army List being clubbed to death with FWs update, the Elite slots got a bit better. Now I can combine my Heavy Mortars and Thudd Guns in one artillery battery and field two units of Grenadiers – which got considerably cheaper.
But most of all, I'm a WYSIWYG guy. And for what I had planned I had to either cut open my old Centaur or build a new one.seinandernehmen müssen.

THE ZIPPO
So, how can I bring four fire templates onto the field? Well, I could take a unit of 5 Grenadiers, give two of them a Heavy Flamer and two other a normal Flamer each and cram them into a Centaur.

At first, the Heavy Stubber gunner had to be in place so I could see how much room I had left.
The driver and the Heavy Flamer gunner are inside already. The HF is put into its place with a magnet because it broke off so often. I love magnets.

I got several of these in a bits box I got from eBay. They have the same pose but I think this won't be noticeable when everythings done.
I used some wire to get the flamers in the right position and rebuild their arms with greenstuff.
Edit: Yes, I removed the 3rd hand on the flamer!!

Not really easy to get them in place so that both feet touched the ground/seats.

Right now I'm charging the batteries of my camera's flash so I'm looking forward to taking good pics of the finished Centaur later today.

Thx!

Now, here are some pics of the finished Zippo-Centaur.

And one of them both:

I'll do both lights together with some other lights when I get new paints.

Thx

A lot of DKoK players, including me, were a little disappionted with the Siege Regiment Army List update last year. For everything that got better, a few others things became worse. One of those was the Hades. If you take one, the unit becomes Elite, so you couldn't claim objectives out of reach (one of the main reasons to field a Hades, really) and he got weaker, so it would be much riskier to attack an enemy tank with it (the other reason to field a Hades).

Anyway, I had just bought a 2nd Hades prior to the update. As some form of motivation or despite, I decided to build and paint it now, to somehow accept the reality.

Again: I'm (re)doing all lights and lamps together later on.

I had asked FW about the missing FAQ/Errata and they told me that not only would they update the FAQ/Errata for the 7th Edition soon. But they are also looking into updating the Siege Regiment Army List again, maybe with feedback of the players in mind.

So I'm not giving up my hope that the Hades can be fielded like it was possible before. Do you remember my battle report? Against the Black Templar army the Hades was able to destroy an Achilles!
Anyway, I wouldn't field more than 2 of those. But maybe 2 x 10 Engineers with each – if the type of game calls for it.

So, what do you think?

Looks good!

Remember in 7th everything is scoring, so they got some utility back there, giving you 4 scoring units able to appear anywhere. That, and delivering 20 Grenadiers into an enemy flank is always nice, similar to something I do a lot with Stormtroopers. It allows you to open up a mini second front or reinforce a weakened area with some strong troops, which is always a nice ability to be able to call upon!

What sort of list are you using where Grenadiers can take a ride with the Drill?

Ah, IA 5 to 7 mentionned Grenadiers going with the Engineers underground, I was hoping I'd missed a line in the rules or something :(

They were never able to have drill. But both can take the Centaur now, which only the Grenadiers could, at first.

np

Got the infantry out of their bag. Disgusting mold lines all over the place and only 7 soldiers – I think I might have put these away a long time ago as "can be made into base material."

Everything's glued together. Just not the parts that are ment to be glued together. I fething hate it.

Over one year without any updates. I'm sorry you had to wait for so long and I'll try to post more now.

The resin is catastrophic on this one. It was all bend, partly broken, lots of flash. I got some parts new and tried bending others. Unfortunately, I used water that wasn't hot enough. Took me a while - and I already thought resin wasn't really bendable - until I used near boiling water and everything went smoothly again.

I used my well earned leave in December to get some steps done. Unfortunately, of course, I got less done than I had hoped and planed ... oh well.
I also got an airbrush - just a simple one, but at least a compressor with a tank and a double action airbrush gun - and I'm getting into handling it. I don't quite get the paint mix right, sometimes it's too thin, sometimes too thick. So it wasn't really a time-saver so far, but I like the smooth finish.

Lastly, I experimented with the new Castellan Green, as my last two pots of Catachan Green are nearly empty. But the color seems to be close enough. I'm more worried about my mud (Bestial Brown and Scorched Brown).

As it is right now, there's nothing glued on the Gorgon so far - except for two parts of the tracks. Everything's screwed! And the two bars on top and the "roof" on the front just sit there. I thought about having them removable but I think I'll glue them in and fix the gaps with GS. Oh well, I'll have to paint it some more, anyway.

Now we're here:

Thanks. Don't worry, though. That's the worst I've seen and I've seen a lot of resin. Some parts might be a bit bent, swords, guns, ... but you can straighten them with hot water. Even the bent sidewalls were easy to correct: Put it in hot water, straighten and hold, then dip in cold water.

Thanks, well, sometimes something is worth the trouble. And this one sure is.

Today I prepared the weapon sponsons. Magnetized everything - ran out of magnets, though. I just spotted one line of flash on one of the bolters, I'll clean that up right now and them I'm going to prime them.

Edit: Oh and I was asked about the screws in the sides that hold the bottom plate:

SDKFZ;7587778 wrote:

I think something this size justifies 2x20 mm screws. The rest will be glued. I think what is important here is the 1mm hole I drilled before. So the screw just had to get hold. The resin didn't have to make room and move/bend. Without this you'd see white "stretch marks" in the bottom plate.

It doesn't seem like much, but I was really busy with this monster of a vehicle. Completed the cockpit interior first, then glued it shut, never to be seen again, oh well ... Then I put everything together. A lot of the parts are magnetized, for example the ladder at the back (seems too prone to break off), the guns, the gun stations next to the cockpit. The guys in the cargo bay will be removable, too. I guess I'll take only few pics with open ramps and then leave them shut as the paint comes off when you move them. They sit tight.

So what next?

I need to give gun stations another coating with green, they I'll put them in place and give the whole thing a bit of a green overspray for a uniform look. Then it's about details, dirt, wear and tear and mudd, of course! After that I'll paint the guys inside. 44, if I counted that right. I have to strips of 6 guys left but they have really bad miscast heads. But that'd make it 50. Let's see if I can push them in as well. Would be cooler to have 50 inside that badass.

Finally, the beast took a bath in the mudd.

Gunners are missing and the lamps are not yet painted (along with nearly all other lamps in my army - can't decide how to paint them ...). The front plate is slightly slanting. I only found out why when it was too late. Now I'd have to detach the fixed and glued connection without destroying anything ... sh*t.

The tank looks fantastic your mud effects are always spot on. The photoshop version looks good, the writing doesn't detract too much from the rest of the tank.

Awesome stuff, I love those Commissars

Though it does pose the question, do Commissars threaten to shoot the tank crew if their in the tank and if they drive the tank forward to run over the enemy?

Cracking stuff as usual!

To be honest, the Commissar Centaur actually works, in a ridiculously over the top 40k kind of way. After all, you wouldn't put your tank in reverse if that guy was going to BLAM you with his Vanquisher cannon!

I had the same idea of fitting an Earthshaker on top of a Centaur.

Take a leadership test to see if the crew isn't too stunned to fire again on the next turn
