Yes indeed! I've got a lot more to build up too!

Recently someone asked, "where did you get your mordian's?"

Several places actually
The first set of 50-60 models came in to my old game store in Los Angeles as a store trade in, a gamer had passed away and his brother was cleaning out his garage, he didn't want all the stuff so he brought them to the store and we all divided things up and donated monies to help out.

I then ordered a few squads through that store via GW's collector series

A friend advised me I should start a dakka blog to detail the build and while on Dakka I did a search in the swap shop, found an old posting for a guy with some Mordians, those had sold, but he had another 72 he was looking to offload, so I bought those

I've since ordered more straight from GW or purchased through sites like ebay or bartertown.

You can get them brand new from GW.

I now have a little more than 200 Mordian Iron Guard and I'm still on the lookout for a few key models, some more missile launcher models and the extremely rare Plasma rifle model.

Did they even MAKE Mordian plasma guys? I thought plasma and autocannons were what the Mordian group didn't get.

Also, can you do a side-by-side comparison of a Perry Bros horse next to a standard GW horse?

Thanks!

Yes! I can do that since I've got a High Elf Horse, a Perry Horse, a Bretonnian Knight and Yeoman horse as well as an Empire Knight horse, should be able to give you a couple of nice shots for size comparison.

HAZZER wrote:I second that! Plasma mordains?

Yes! Mordians and Praetorians had a plasma rifle model, its extremely rare and wasn't listed in the catalogs!

http://www.collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Mordian_Iron_Guard

http://www.solegends.com/citadel/index.htm

Now, they're extremely rare and so you have to do something like what I've done or what this guy has done to convert up plasma rifles for Mordians or Praetorians.

http://www.flylords.net/2012/01/quick-tip-making-mordian-plasma-guns.html

And I really like this guys conversions:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/445045.page?userfilterid=57637

I've got Praetorians on the brain and there are several ways to make those possible:

Step 1: Buy Mordian Iron Guard from GamesWorkshops Collectors line.
http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/armySubUnitCats.jsp?catId=cat1490651&rootCatGameStyle=

Step 2: Buy Pith Helmets from any one of the following:
http://www.secretweaponminiatures.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=47_48&products_id=115

http://www.maxmini.eu/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=12&products_id=177

http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/product/pith-helmet-heads

Step 3: Cut the heads off the Mordian Iron Guard, smooth out cut lines, then drill with a pin vise into both the head and the base of the neck.

Step 4: Glue/GS Pith Helmet head onto Mordian Iron Guard model.

Step 5: Done.

Comparing the size of a Perry Miniatures French Cavalry mount, this is the brown model with the saddle, the rest of the horses are games workshop mounts from various fantasy sets.
http://www.perry-miniatures.com/

Note: The Perry brothers used to work for Games Workshop and modeled a lot of their miniatures. I'm not surprised their kits tend to fit well with the GW products

5th edition Bretonnian Knight Mount with a Perry Miniatures horse

8th edition Bretonnian Knight Mount with a Perry Miniatures horse

Bretonnian Yeoman Mount with a Perry Miniatures horse

High Elf Silver Helm Regiment horse with a Perry Miniatures horse

Empire Knight Mount with a Perry Miniatures horse

Note: The Perry brothers used to work for Games Workshop and modeled a lot of their miniatures. I'm not surprised their kits tend to fit well with the GW products

Mordian Iron Guard Rough Rider Conversion using the mounts from Perry Miniatures French Heavy Cavalry and Tank Commander & Cadian officer heads. All the horses go together no matter which two halves of the body type you choose. There is one exception and that horse looks a little different than the others. There are enough bodies to create more than 14 bodies. The 40K heads and the neck slot have to be reworked/cut/trimmed down so that the head will sit on the body. The right arm from the sprue is holding a sword, so I'll find a lance or piece of pipe, trim that out and create rough riders. I might mount a lasgun or similar weapon to the saddle or gear on the horse to complete the image.

Received and cataloged the new Praetorian models last night

I received these troops from 1 trade, I believe these are made by a recaster, i.e. someone who has made a mold from old Praetorian models and then made new ones from that mold.

And these Praetorians from a different trade, which are part of the original games day 1997 Battle for Big Toof river boxed set which is shown below.

More pics are located in my Dakka Gallery here:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-50179-27402_40K%20IG%20Praetorian%20Army%20Project.html

I got an almost complete Games Day '97 'Battle for Big Toof River' Special limited edition boxed set army of Praetorians:

Complete with the rule book!

The Perry Bros horses are, clearly, juuuuust slightly undersized. Slightly. But, I think for the purposes of my Praetorian Cavalry from Col Gravis, they'll be fine. I'll pick some up and a trial.

Thank you, 'rose for the pictures!

Your welcome! Glad to help! I think the Perry stuff is great for the IG models and I hope you enjoy them!

If you do decide to come to Houston be sure to bring some Steak and dark beer. Oh and good luck.

I actually got a really good deal on the Praetorians through both BarterTown and DakkaDakka, 92acclude had some extra Praetorians and was looking to offload them, I sent him a message both here and on BarterTown, we worked out a great well communicated trade and I had seen/read in his positive reviews a positive post by a buddy of mine that uses Bartertown a lot, so I felt comfortable with the trade. It was great! He packaged everything so carefully it was awesome.
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/460511.page

Then, I found on ebay a 'recaster' of Praetorians. He relists the same squad every week to two weeks using the same picture, I found this out by seeing another posting by him with the same image and then checking out his feedback score and looking through it and finding multiple sales for the same item.

I've thought about contacting him directly to work out a deal for a large volume of models with basic lasguns. I have another resource for Praetorians, but I don't want to post it here til I have a chance to get another cash infusion and clean him out.

Check out some of the skirmish stuff for Necromunda or something similar my buddy Jeremy & Scott have worked on the last couple months. These guys are out of Aero Hobbies & Games in Santa Monica, my old game store out there.
http://quiznation.com/wp/

I did some more work on the Empire Pistolier Head / Cadian Conversion, took some time to line up the lasgun arms and glue them together separately. I'm doing this so that I can access the torso when I paint the model. That and its easier to assemble the arms first and then glue them to the model. Additionally, I drilled with a pinvise into the hand a forearm of the left arm of the model and pinned it together. This helped keep the arm and hand together while I moved to the next set of arms.

I also spent yesterday afternoon working on an 1850 point Space Wolves list, which I need to type up and upload into Army Builder. It will contain the following models:
Rune Priest
Two units of Long Fangs
2 Grey Hunter packs 10 models
1 Grey Hunter pack 9 models
1 Wolf Scout pack 8 models 8 Sniper rifles
3 Rhinos Dedicated to the Grey Hunters

Wolf Lord with 5 Thunder Wolf Cavalry for Shenanigans

All that should be pretty decent on the battlefield and cause my opponent to split his forces to deal with several serious threats.

I don't have any experience with battle scribe and most tournaments prefer an Army Builder format. I realize that I will be playing for fun and to learn this new version of the game for awhile, but I'd like to use a format that is similar when learning.

The Praetorians may be narrower than the current day IG models which are more dynamic, yet they're taller than my Mordian Iron Guard models simply due to the pith helmet head being taller. I know you've seen my Mordian Iron Guard so you should know they're a fairly decent size.

I was a little dissapointed with GW Tomball today, I went there at 5:32 p.m. and it was closed, waited til 6 and more than 10 people showed up trying to get in, turned away disapointed.

I need to fix up my models for the SW list and then I can get back to the Mordians.

I think John must be sick if he closes that early. He normally always stay late on all days for his customers. Plus, they close at 6 on Sunday anyway.

RE: Battlescribe: if tournaments accept handwritten and excel army list, I don't see why BS ones are not allowed. But to each his own.

I do hope John is Ok. I noticed the sign said that his Sunday 'lunch' was from 5:30 to 6.

He might be closing then if its slow.

I never said BS wasn't allowed, just that AB was preferred. I don't know what various tournaments won't allow.

I'm in build mode again, putting together an effective 1850 SW list to get some 6th edition games in. I have actually played a game against a Necron player with some crazy shennanigans in his tournament ready list. Teleportation, twin multi linked tesla, multiple characters.. etc etc.. :p

Still playing Warmachine and loving it, Lots of Cygnar goodness, though I have Khador & Menoth as well.

I am expanding my gaming knowledge by stepping into other tabletop, skirmish, board and card games. If you get a chance to play Cards Against Humanity, I suggest you do it.

I'm also trying out WFB, you might have seen me building my Bretonnians, Empire, Skaven, Lizardmen & etc.. armies.

Recently picked up an Ariadna (sp?) Infinity starter box, though I'm a little disappointed since the starter box contains just the models, no quick start rules, no stat cards/data.

I'm happy to announce a board game I helped out with came in! Look for 'Lyssan'

Still plugging away at the Mordian Iron Guard, I picked up some of the new Citadel Shades from GW to see if that will darken up the ultramarine blue army painter primer.

The Cadian/Empire IG conversion is progressing, though a few of the feathers that are secondary bits in the empire pistolier kit have fallen off. I need to consider whether using plastic glue or trying to pin them might be a better solution than using superglue and a weak contact point.

The Bretonnians, Lizards, Skaven, Fenris IG, Empire, and whatever else I have primed and waiting for paint are doing just that.. waiting for me to get motivated enough to begin painting them all again.

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying my little blog of wargaming randomness building and painting!

Victoria Lambs conversion pieces are awesome, I have a few pieces on their way from Australia now. I'm excited!

I've been trying out 40K 6th edition, only have about two games down and a steep learning curve ahead. My brain is locked into some Warmachine rules that just seem more logical. This is mostly due to the wound allocation rules imho being clearer and more direct in warmachine than in 6th.

On a side note, I put together some Infinity: Ariadna starter box models together last night,

pictures and paint for several different projects should be coming soon!

Work done on the Space Wolves, need to build up some magnetized Thunderwolf models:

Long Fang construction, need about 10 missile launcher models

Alternate Thunderwolf model, the tail broke off so I drilled and pinned it back on.

You get a lot of extra bits with the Thunder wolf cavalry box, extra heads and wolf legs.

The instructions are wrong for this set of paws for this Thunderwolf build, they're reversed. I spent a good 15 minutes trying to figure out why the puzzle piece of a paw didn't fit right. Other than that its a really intuitive and well designed kit. All the pieces go together really well.

I mentioned the Infinity Ariadna Starter box set build, here they are:
The models arrived with a decent amount of flash on them that needed trimming and cleaning up. The metal is soft so this was easily done and not a real issue and the box they're packaged in could double as a foam transport case for them. Additionally, I like that they separated the pieces that go with each model and put them in a bag.

I drilled and pinned the hand to the underside of the rifle arm for the model pictured without arms, these come in two pieces similar to an IG Cadian/Catachan lasgun arm set up. I found it was easier to assemble the arms separately, then prime & paint both assembly sections and then put the model together. Its just a lot easier and makes more sense.

I laid down tape with the sticky side up so that the models don't fall over. I've taken to leaving half of the base off the tape as it makes them easier to remove later. You can also see that I've suspended with tape a paperclip to hold the arm assembly for priming rather than just setting it on the cardboard.

I primed everything with Citadel Black as I'm out of P3 Black Primer

Waited for the black to dry for approx 6-8hrs, I did this by going to sleep, Ha! I then hit these models with the Army Painter Leather Brown paint primer and then waited another 4-6 hours as I went out to the local hobby shop Fat Ogre and played some Warmachine games, hit up my local starbucks, then picked up the models from the house before heading into work for the night.

I then thinned down some P3 Battledress Green and Citadel boltgun metal, leaving the parts I wanted Brown left untouched.

I really loved the idea of a Scottish heritage force in the future and the Saint Andrew's Cross or the Saltire flag of Scotland that was on the model in the picture appealed to me as well. I used Mordian Blue and then the new Citadel White base color to create the cross.

And since I need to get off this box and head home here are some shots of the paint job that was finalized last night and the paints that were used:

I also used several micromark pens to try an line highlight or even create the tartan like pattern on the Scottish kilt. The shading and dirtying up of the model was simply achieved by watering down Chaos Black to a thin wash like consistency and then washing the entire model, its an old technique, but I find it works a lot like using Devlan mud all over a model.

I've got to let them dry and I've downloaded the quick start rules for Infinity, I'm looking forward to checking this game out.

As always Comments and critiques are welcome!

Yes, lol. Though I have had these models for some time now. I played a game and it was fun, there's a few things the rules need clarifying on, but other than that its a fun game.

I have a few extra bits, lots of hammers, we'll have to see about trading, yet I'm still building my force up to as WYSIWYG as possible, which means for me, all the way, lots of magnets, etc.

I'd love to get more games in, I've only had about half a game once I got started. Well at least two portions of games.

Speaking of Infinity, the game utilizes facing as well, so I pulled out a painting template and using a straight edge center the model

The templates are designed for warmachine sized model bases, but with a straight edge and a pencil I can create a smaller circle in the center and utilize that to mark the facing on the models.

The models after basing utilizing white glue and a mix of gravel, sand and other particulate matter was applied after I painted the facings in Mordian Blue, Ceramite White and Red Gore

I'll clean the excess basing material/dust off the facing markings on the edge of the base, then possibly paint it in a brighter color, yet I think its good to go there. The models from left to right are: Line Kazak, 3rd Highlander Grey Rifle, Line Kazak

The models from left to right are: Line Kazak (Alternative Sculpt), Veteran Kazak, 4'eme de Chasseurs

The Army as it stands now, they're a versatile bunch, but it seems they're underpowered when it comes to the other factions. Ariadna is made up of the descendents of the first human colonizing ship that disappeared into a worm-hole and was given up for lost. Isolated on a remote and hostile planet, the Ariadnes – Cossacks, Americans, Scots and Frenchmen – have evolved into a hard and technologically less advanced race, which has just made contact with the Human Sphere and is trying to carve out a niche for itself without falling under the control of the other powers.

Once the glue dries, I'm planning to either add some snow or a layer of green, perhaps both and possibly some vegetation to help with the realism on the models.

What do y'all think? As always C&C is welcome!

Warmachine/Hordes and Infinity all use facing rules and I love it!

I have several hammers of various manufacture, the mechanicals from maxmini and the GW hammers. I'll have to check on the storm shields as I'm magnetizing every arm and weapon combo on my T-wolves.

Idols, Thank you for stopping by and saying hello and thanks for the compliment! Where on facebook did you find my images? I see you're new to Dakka, so Welcome! I'll keep an eye out for your work!

Last night I primed about 40 points of Warmachine Khador force ( Battle Box, eSorcha, Vlad, Kovnik Joe, Widowmakers, Winterguard infantry & UA, etc) , 20 points of Warmachine Mercenaries ( Ran out of my Army Painter Leather brown primer, so the models are half brown and half chaos black, Sam Machorne and the Devil Dogs, Vanguard, Gorman, Eirys, Blythe & Bull, Dirty Meg, etc ), About 10 points of Warmachine Cygnar ( a few Long Gunners and a Journeyman Warcaster ).

So a lot more priming and a little painting and basing done, still so much more to go and I'll be uploading a ton more pics soon.

I am pretty sure there are only two configurations

Wolf Lord with Thunderwolf + Powerfist/hammer + Stormshield + Saga of the Bear.
3x Thunderwolves, 1x Stormshield, 1x Powerfist

or

Wolf Lord with Thunderwolf + Wolf Claws + Stormshield + Saga of the Warrior Born.
3x Thunderwolves, 1x Stormshield, 1x Wolf Claw

One is geared for killing hordes. The other is geared for killing everything else.

I can agree that those are some quality builds, but I believe there are more options for Thunderwolves + Wolf Lord.

Here is what I've been working on lately:

Infinity: Ariadna faction
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-50179-27846_Infinity%3A%20Ariadna.html
Caledonian Mormaer: “Dileas gu bas” (Loyal until death) Motto of the First Regiment of Caledonian Mormaers.
http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2011/miniatures/caledonian-mormaers/

Lots of flash needs to be trimmed up on the model.

I'm going to need to prime the Mormaer without its arms attached. The right arm blocks access to the pistol holster, left arm blocks access to his bulging pockets of gear. Back pack is a separate piece and goes on fine, trying to figure out to attach the antenna so it doesn't fall off. the antenna piece is soft metal the width of a paperclip...

Replace it with a paper clip!

I'll use a paper clip to support the piece or drill into the side of the backpack and bend a paperclip piece into an L shape putting the short end into the back pack for stability

Additionally I drilled into the back of the model and was only going to pin the backpack on, but I wasn't paying attention and I drilled straight through the backpack, so I needed to extend the pin longer. You can see that I use the smaller sized paperclips to clip straight strong pieces for the pinning. They're perfect and cheap.

and I torked my tiny drill bit too much and broke it off inside the backpack of the model.. so I had to drill a second hole above the broken drill bit piece I can't remove from the model, lol.

Shoved the paperclip up through some foam to suspend the arm pieces

Primed him with Citadel Chaos Black since I'm out of Army Painter Leather Brown and P3 Black Primer is impossible to get around here at my local FLGS.

He's drying now.

Gonna use some of this citadel dead grass on my infinity models bases... and it won't stick. Its the citadel grass set middenland tufts. Dead grass doesn't want to lay flat even with superglue

I've got a few more infinity models on the way, I like the game play mechanics and skirmish size of the game. Its fun to play.

In addition to the Infinity models above I've been working on prepping some Warmachine models to do a massive painting session.

Warmachine Cygnar:

Journeyman Warcaster, Long Gunners and Gun Mage Officer UA

Primed the Cygnar models with Army Painter Ultramarine Blue.

Warmachine Mercenary:

Dirty Meg

Dannon Blythe & Bull

Vanguard Light Warjack, the pole arm extends below the base of the model so I used some cork board to raise the model up. This doesn't affect the models game profile as the height is static for a medium based model.

I used ticky tac on a large screw to hold the Vanguards shield and be able to rotate the piece while priming the model.

I ran out of Army Painter Leather brown and had to add in some citadel chaos black, I'll still have to pain the entire model rather than cutting a corner with the leather brown color

Rheinholdt is finally getting some color.

Alyssa & Gorman Primed with Army Painter Alien Purple

Warmachine Khador

pSorscha, eSorscha, Vlad, Kovnik Joe, Winterguard Infantry & UA, Widowmakers, Destroyer Warjack, Khador Battlebox
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-50179-22658_Warmachine%3A%20Khador.html

Primed with Army Painter Bright Red:

So I've prepped all these dang models, going to play with them and paint them up soon. Lots to do, lots to do and still more stuff to paint. I've been playing Warmachine lately, Picked up Infinity and have enjoyed that and even tried out a few games of 40K 6th edition, So far I still prefer Warmachine and now Infinity's game rules and mechanics as well as fluff over Warhammer 40K.

I like color primers because they help speed up my paint jobs, as long as they're the right color I want and don't run out in the middle of priming. lol. I'd like to get an air brush soon, yet I've got to hold off as things here are up in the air with regards to the future influx of monies.

I'm also helping to get a couple of local tournaments, build up the gaming communities and get everyone talking more and coordinating games more here in Houston.

I seriously enjoy painting models though, almost as much as I enjoy playing the games!

Two Big weekends coming up! Bayou Battles here in Houston this weekend will be a massive Warhammer Fantasy Battles Tournament and then next weekend is Space City Convention which will be hosting Warhammer 40K Tournament, Warmachine Tournaments, Pathfinder Society events... so I'll be busy busy busy.. then on the 25th of August will be a tournament at Fat Ogre for Warmachine.

Been doing some painting and commissions through Paintingmaniacs.com as well. Lots going on there.

What are your thoughts? What would you like to see painted next? Any tips/tricks? Comments/Suggestions? Everything is always welcome!

Thank you!!

Dirty Meg falls under the Warmachine Mercenaries in the Privateer (read as Pirate ) section of the book. She was a dock worker/ laborer with a talent for working on warjacks as a mechanic. Through a series of events she has become a fugitive and joined up with a Pirate/Mercenary crew. Dirty Meg fights right in with the Pirate/Privateer crew, well aware of the value of her skills and she enjoys throwing her weight around, thus giving as good as she gets.

So she's a former dock worker, awesome mechanic ( most likely covered in grease and oil ) and on a Pirate Ship, so she is "Dirty Meg"

I wanted to add a little more material for more "realism" to my models and after searching, I located the middenland tufts in my box of basing material. I was excited to get to use this product as it was the first time for me using a grass like basing material that wasn't just a powder of green.

As you can see I'd already based my models with my basing mix of sand, gravel, bits of shavings from plastic sprues and from trimming flash, I just mix it all up and keep basing with it.

This is what the grass looks like, kind of dead, but thats what I was looking for, it comes stuck to this plastic sheet via some type of glue and pulls off like a sticker does when peeling it from a sheet. Right away I noticed it wasn't going to be sticky enough so I applied super glue to the bottom of the grass and then applied it to the base of the model ( already covered in basing material) and applied pressure. Some of the pieces stuck and held and haven't shown any signs of separation. Several have refused to glue down to the base even after applying more superglue and holding it flat down. I'm not sure if this is an effect of the basing + superglue or something similar.

I began painting my Caledonian Mormaer all over the model in boltgun silver metal over black primer. I did this because I was certain he was encased in a full suit of armor, but upon looking at the picture, I realized there were other pieces at work here.

The arms are still separate so I can reach the inside pieces of the model and will be joined to the body at the end of the paint job.

I then went over the live drab similar parts with the P3 paint, ' Battledress Green' I like it, its very similar to an olive drab color scheme

It took a bit of finesse to get the green in between the legs and around the armored pieces, yet I made it happen.

I went on to use several different shades of brown on various pieces of equipment, I tried again to create a saltire cross, but with a brush I think there is too big of a margin for error.

I painted the base using Mordian Blue and Red Gore. I used the same size brush for all the painting and the modeling.

As always C&C is welcome!

Here are some finalized shots of my current Infinity Ariadna Force:

Recently, a local player brought in a box full of broken terrain to my local FLGS Fat Ogre Games & Comics, so I've taken a few pieces to fix / rebuild these into working and functional terrain pieces for use in the store for war gaming. Tonights project is a bridge!

I started off with just these pieces and an idea, to build a bridge or walkway piece. My initial thoughts were to build something that could be used for Infinity or Necromunda, yet I thought the piece would get more use if it was wider and thus be able to handle Warhammer and Warmachine / Hordes models.

I love building things, taking pieces and figuring out how they can go together, so I laid everything out and got an idea of the shape of the bridge and then I noticed I was missing 1 piece of railing, now I could make the bridge shorter in length or just make it with an open side. I also wanted to support the bridge. I cut sprue into equal lengths and then whittled them to fit in the grooves of the bridge pieces.

You can see the shapes of the pieces and the way the sprue will connect and support the bridge. It was simple enough to cut pieces to equal length and then glue them together with the bridge pieces to form a framework.

Here is the bridge before gluing together:

The white plasticard it had been sitting on was cut to fit the center portion of the entire length of the bridge frame and then super glued into place in one long strip with glue on every support piece

Now what to do about that open railing part of the bridge? I didn't want anyone to accidentally fall off, so I dug in my Bretonnian box for a set of chains that are used on the archer stake emplacement pieces, I cut one in the dead center after measuring the gap, cut the end piece off one of the chains that was still in one piece, then glued them both together. I used a pin vise hand drill to drill into the bridge and then used two push pins for support and to hang the new chain from, I've got a small sign with a skull and crossbones I'm going to hang from the chain to warn people not to fall off. lol.

Right now the bridge is drying from being primed black, I'm still trying to decide what color I want to paint it, whether all metal or red and then try to wash it up into a rust looking format. I could prime it red then paint the railing metallic then wash it all with thinned down chaos black, which is pretty much my standard simple paint scheme. What are your thoughts?

Also, I picked up a vertical laser pointer for use in wargaming! I still need to get CR2 Lithium batteries for it, but I'm excited to get to use it in a game!

As always comments and suggestions are welcome!

I'd suggest making the edge of the bridge a bit torn up to suggest the railing falling off... And maybe painting some blood on edge?

HAZZER wrote:I'd suggest making the edge of the bridge a bit torn up to suggest the railing falling off... And maybe painting some blood on edge?

I had thought to cut up the edge of the bridge a bit, excellent suggestion!

Here's a couple of shots post priming, I used an old can of Armory Black Primer that was part of a payment from a commission project I did. Note, if you're going to get commission payments of ( Price + Cost of materials ) = total. Make sure you specify the types of paints and primers, brushes etc. Then you won't wind up with crappy primer thats only good for priming terrain thats going to get abused at a hobby shop.

I could hack up the edge of the bridge using scissors, it should be fairly simple.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Okay, I checked on the bridge and was upset that the primer 'puffed' all over the bridge. This stuff is crap! I'll only ever use it on something like store terrain.

Here is the bridge with adeptus battle grey on the plasticard primed black center bridge and then the metal railings were painted with Boltgun silver metal mixed with a little adeptus battlegrey and then brush on with a 1" wide brush, this is terrain so it doesn't need a fine detail brush.

I couldn't find any scissors so I simply clipped out some jagged edges for the broken railing piece, I didn't want to go too deep into the bridge since then I'd have to deal with painting the sprue support pieces underneath.

I wanted the bridge to look older and rusted so I mixed Red Gore with a Graveyard tan and some Adeptus Grey and the Orange Foundation, then thinned it down and brushed it on to the metal portions of the model, and a few drops hit the actual bridge part and I liked the effect so I left them to dry

So now its sitting drying after having layers of different colored paints coating it and then painted over while still a little wet. Looking for some feedback regarding the rust effect and the overall look of the bridge piece. I hope to drop this off at the FLGS later today and pick up some other pieces of terrain to fix up and paint.

Thanks for taking the time to check this out and comment!

Now we're cooking! Looking really good but the railings may need some posts cause they look a bit weorid as they are with no supports... Apart from that it looks great! You could also paint the railing silver to show it as a recent addtion to the bridge too?

Thanks HAZZER! Always good to hear some feedback on the work. I agree with your railing/post idea and will work on that by simply clipping some sprues and using the same push pins for tops/side connections so it looks the same. I want it all to look rusted and a little old and abused, nothing new.

I've also picked/rebuilt/fixed/built up some more of the terrain pieces to work on from the local FLGS! I didn't put too much into these as they're going to be store terrain pieces and thus suffer the abuse as such.

First off, Only use this primer for terrain pieces, especially if they're store (i.e. going to be abused ) terrain pieces. The Armory Black Primer is the worst primer I've ever used! It 'puffed' almost immediately and came off the mode even hours later as a fine sand/grit consistency. The Walmart brand Grey & White seem to be okay, but I've only used them on terrain pieces and not smaller models.

Here is the box of terrain that was built and is ready for priming and painting:

I like multi level terrain so that I can use it with games like Infinity, Necromunda, 40K and other miniature games that rely on the Z axis.

First the pieces are primed black, then I'll prime them grey and then with white primer over all of that.

Then grey over black

Then white over the grey + black

I've also received an influx of Infinity models for my small infinity army:

9th Wulver Grenadiers

112 Emergency Service

Caledonian Volunteers

The Caledonian Army Starter box!

I do love the way they package their miniatures! Keeping the models and pieces that go together separated and secure in their own bag inside a box of foam! This is a serious plus in my book for this company. Also, with a little converting you can use the box the models come in as an army transport case!

Inventory begins, matching up parts to models and validating everything is with its proper model and is the proper piece! Everything looks great so far!

I'm still undecided whether to wash the buildings with some chaos black thinned down wash I've put together in an old pickle jar.

The bridge build is coming along, clipped the sprue bits and will be drilling and pinning the posts to the bridge support as well as gluing them in place.

As always Comments, Suggestions and remarks are always welcome!

I try to work fast on almost all of my projects dude, I think I get faster each time. Of course I did wind up with an extra layer of superglue on my hands.

Here's some shots of what they look like on the table:

Trimmed the flash and glued these models together and to their respective bases:

Caledonian Volunteers:

112 Emergency Service

1st Highlanders S.A.S. Boarding Shotgun

9th Wulver Grenadiers

3rd Highlander Greys HMG

These models all come with a lot of flash and few, yet very fine soft mold lines and are easy to clean up.

I've got a busy weekend ahead of me with Space City Con 2012 hitting Houston, Texas. Going to be participating in some Warmachine and some Pathfinder Society events and generally roaming like a madman with massive sleep deprivation this whole weekend. I'm actually trying to bribe friends to go so that they can drive.

O.o

As always I welcome your comments, suggestions and more!

Space City CON 2012 was a lot of fun, I played so many games it was ridiculous! I even saw a few new games that looked interesting like 'Little Orc Wars' that used functioning catapults to launch stones at castles and had hordes of orcs charging across the battle field. The Warhammer 40K Tournaments and Warmachine / Hordes Tournaments were fun. I played some Infinity, met a few authors like Margaret Weis & Tracey Hickman as well as RA Salvatore. Steve Jackson was there playing Munchkin. Infinity had a booth and if you demo'd their game you got a free starter set. I played a bunch of Pathfinder Society RPG games. Met some celebrities like Nichelle Nichols aka "Uhuora" from the original Star Trek and the original green power ranger who is some MMA douchebag now. I also ran into some cosplay friends and artists. Lots of fun was had.

I'm uploading images of new models I got recently from the Freeboothers Fate line:
http://www.freebooters-fate.de/Home_en.html

Freebooter Miniatures is a small range of 30mm metal miniatures intended for everyone who appreciates something special. The miniatures, lovingly sculpted by Werner Klocke and friends with a sense of humour and an eye for detail, will be a distinctive addition to your existing collections and games.

Freebooter’s Fate is a skirmish-level tabletop game for the 30mm range of Freebooter Miniatures. It’s got everything a swashbuckler’s heart could desire: rampacious pirates, dastardly goblins, stalwart Imperials, shadowy assassins, women with big guns, rum, gold and booty. With a thousand peg legs. Give it a go, you’ll love it. Arr!

Lots of painting and modeling has been going on, yet I've also been really busy with some personal stuff! Yet, never fear I will always come back to update this with new and exciting models and modeling!

Uploaded the images to Dakka here:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-50179-28320_Freebooters%20Fate.html

Each model comes individually packaged within the box! And, they each have their own deck basing piece!

Stat cards and bases for each of the models in two different languages!

Warroom by Privateer Press for Warmachine/Hordes is a great app and I like it, but I'll continue to rely on my cards for the game as well.

I've been dealing with a lot of stuff here at home and have had to take a break from painting and modeling. I'm open for some commission work though as I need something to get myself motivated to paint my own models again.

I am still painting, building and modeling as well as taking commissions, I've had a lot of family issues come up recently and then the holidays all seem to be steam rolling together.

I'm still playing a lot of Warmachine / Hordes with the Houston Warmachine Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/128014557313818/

As well as several local and regiona Warmachine / Hordes groups in Texas. My painting/modeling hobby table is still covered and surround by at least a thousand unpainted miniatures, yet I'm continuing to make progress. Albeit slowly.

Here are some highlights of what I've been working on:

Warmachine: Hordes: Circle Of Orobos

War Beasts

Skin Walkers

Druids

Warlocks and Solos

I'm continuing to try different techniques and paint styles as well as paints from different companies. Always trying to evolve my skill and knowledge.

Warmachine: Khador

Warmachine: Mercenaries

I'm working on building and magnetizing four heavy merc warjack kits, 3 of which you see here, the fourth will also have the Rocinante options and thus needs a little more thinking/figuring out when it comes to the suspended Cannon on his left arm.

Here is a shot of my Warmachine: Cygnar easily now above 323 points worth of models.

I've built a lot of new models and helped grow the warmachine league in my local area significantly, lots of great things happening and we're only just beginning, Monthly tournaments and events, painting challenges and generally getting the players to have a good time.

So here's some more models straight off the paint table:

My Legion of Everblight Hordes battle box war pack project:

I drilled and pinned most of the pieces and secured them to wooden skewers ( the kind of pointed stick used for shish kabobs )

Primed everything using Army Painter Alien Purple

I let everything dry and then washed it all with thinned down Badab Black mixed with some Adeptus Grey & Brown as a wash mix I've made using an old pickle jar and distilled water. I simply cover the whole model to darken up the purple. I used Scorpion green to highlight the models and give it a little color and then went from there:

Carnivean:

Lyllyth

Shredders!

The whole battle group / warpack:

Oh yeah and some Trollbloods:

And a Pyre Troll for fun:
