Ok, Finally, FINALLY finished this diamond pattern. I had to correct it in places. Mainly the left front shoulder armour as the pattern curved all over the place. I'm pretty much happy with him how he is although he lacks any sort of markings at the moment.
I also finished all the painting on the White Warlord. Kinda happy with the freehand diamonds and symbols but the colours seem to blend into one. I should jabe gone with a plain red background. Anyway It's just Decals and.......
....... Because Painting white and Diamond patterns wasn't punishing myself. Banners!! This will be for the Warlord (between his legs.)
Warlords are really coming along, props on all the laborious flourishes. I love the pose on the diamond lad, strong imposing momentum (and sweet loadout, from an outsider's perspective).
Thanks guys I hope you've all had a nice, relaxing and productive Christmas!
I saw a starter on eBay for a steal (a 3rd of RRP!) and couldn't resist. All the titans/knights were prebuilt and either sprayed silver or part painted but, hey, I'm still happy The Reaver isn't posed exactly how I imaged him but that's mainly due to not being able to pull it apart at the hip joints. Oh well. It''ll do!! He'll be joining the Yellow and Diamond pattern Legio.
Warhound on the base is just done with some quick press mould. Right, off to spray him!!
cor, thats a great pose with the wrecked warhound. thanks for prooving me wrong about that. I think its because the interaction between the two is simply foot on top that stops it being a cheese fest and more of a sense of context...
and lols with the cacti. never did like those but they do evoke pleasant nostalgia none the less...
The pose is a little off to be honest. I wanted him more crouched and leaning to the left (his left), almost like he was using the warhound as a platform to push off from into another opponent. But he kinda ended up standing on the Warhound like a Trophy. I still like the pose though, even if it isn't as dynamic as I envisioned.
Yeah. I'm really regretting doing a diamond pattern. It was ok on one, lone titan. But a whole force of them? Dammit. Why can't I choose an easy scheme like Ryza or something?!
I do need a name for him/her though. Any ideas? I have a name for the Warhound already; Trux animalis (Filthy Animal). The other Reaver is Ferrum Meretrix (Iron Whore). So I need something of similar vein. Plus the Warlord as well for that matter. I never did decide for him.
I've been told to isolate due to Covid, so, I've managed to get some painting done Just the yellow on 2 titans but, hey, give me a chance. It's a start!
Sordidum Senem (Dirty Old Man)
Trux Animalis (Filthy Animal)
How about Mors Spei (Death of Hope) for the Warlord? It's a bit grander compared to the rest of the Titans but Warlords are supposed to be incredibly rare in this run down legio.
I like the proposed name. Suitably grand, and fitting in the circumstances. Beautiful work on the Titans, in a scale I am still amazed we have seen a return to by GW!
I know!! I'm so glad they did. Even though I was never really into EPIC I still had a decent enough collection. Sadly gone now though (much gutted). I love painting at this scale though, I'm not sure I can go back to painting my Knights after this. They seem so flat and boring.
I need some ideas. To fill out these guys to 1500pts I can either add another Warhound. Or an Acastus Knight, 2 Lancers or 3 or 4 Questoris Knights. The problem is, these guys aren't really supported by anyone (they're not Imperial nor support the Warmaster and their Planet is no more). So trying to justify some Knights is a bit hard to do. So maybe some Proxy models to represent Knights? Or a Big Tank to represent an Acastus?
Automatically Appended Next Post: In an effort to avoid painting the red and black Diamonds on the Titans.......... I've spent today painting tiny black and white diamonds on a banner for my warlord. (no, I still havent painted his weapons lol)
These are very dynamic for such lumbering god machines. The yellow is fantastic, almost like a dancing flame or daemon possession. Can I ask for the recipe? I love that the reaver is stood on a warhound like a stag it’s just shot!
Thanks Mr Savage! I do hate static poses and did want to give them a sense of 'weight'. Although I'm pretty sure the War Lord would fall over IRL.
gobert wrote: These are very dynamic for such lumbering god machines. The yellow is fantastic, almost like a dancing flame or daemon possession. Can I ask for the recipe? I love that the reaver is stood on a warhound like a stag it’s just shot!
Thanks mate! The yellow is old GW Sunburst Yellow. I'm not sure what the new GW colour is but any decent GW staffer could tell you but there's got to be a converter around somewhere on the internet. After that, then it's 2 thinned coats of seraphim Sepia, then Seraphim again but in certain places that took my fancy. The again washed in certain placed (the darker patches) with Agrax Earthshade. All of these washes (bar the first one) were done with the previous wash still semi-wet so they kinda naturally blended together.
To highlight was just Sunburst yellow again, Then Sunburst mixed with white to highlight up.
No idea how I have missed your excellent foray into Adeptus Titanicus, your Warlord's, Reavers and Warhounds all look great. I really like the Purple, white and gold scheme. Are either of them named Legio's or are they homebrew?
I agree on how detailed and addictive the kits are, my personal favourite is the Reaver kit. Looking forward to more progress.
These are fantastic, very colourful. The red-spiked cacti are a good way to add a spot colour and add a nice retro touch as well (I built some 40K scale versions myself a couple of years ago). According to Dakkadakka's own paint converter chart, Sunburst Yellow is equivalent to GWFlash Gitz Yellow, VGC Sunblast Yellow, Coat D'arms Sun Yellow or INSTAR Brilliant Yellow.

Welcome to the thread And thank you! Both of the Legio's are my own creation. I suck at choosing names however so neither of them are named as yet. The White/Purple ones I'll be using the Crusade rules for and the yellow ones I'm undecided. I wanted to have them as blackshields but the rules for Urdesh fit so well.
I honestly don't think I have a favourite. They're all awesome.

Thanks mate!! You're showing your age remembering them But, yeah, splash colours are always good. Even though they're done the same green as the vents/eyes on the titans!! Thanks for basically doing my job on the paint front as well lol. Any links for those plants you did?
Ouch....... That was below the belt Those plants are cool. although you need to go a lot brighter than that
No worries Gobert!!! I still have 3 pots of Sunburst in the old Hexagonal pots lol. I have no idea why......... I never paint anything yellow so cant see myself buying 3 pots, ever.
I had a spare Quake Cannon knocking about so figured I'd add it to the yellow Warlord. However, to fit their theme I wanted a combat attachment I mean, a Bayonet longer than a Leman Russ is a thing, right?
I also made and painted some more weapons for the Reavers AND added a Vulcan Mega Bolter to the back of the Warlords Power fist because, maybe, one day they might make rules for it?
Well, funny you should say that because there are rules I can kinda use as a 'counts as'. Basically it turns his base attacks from D3 into D6. Which is cool.
Finally, finally finished the white Warlord
Vetus Gloria
I tried a new technique with the plasma coils. I like it but it doesn't look anything like the tutorial. Hopefully by the time I've painted the other 5 Sunfury Annihilators and the 8 Warhound Plasma guns I'll be better at it
Cracking work on the titans, both Legios are looking rather spiffy! It’s difficult To choose a favourite scheme, but I think the checks in the red and yellow ones win out for me
Thanks guys! Despite taking about 5 times longer on the white Titans i do really like the Gritty Yellow ones as well. Which is annoying lol. Maybe I'll add a few more titans to them? Although I might wait and see what other titans they release first. I'm definitely thinking of another Reaver though.
Heh, if you want an Eco Warrior I might as well make an Angry Greta at 8mm scale?
I've not had much time to myself this last week so I haven't been able to spend any 'decent' time hobby-ing. Despite this I still had the itch to apply paint to something! ANYTHING! so I went and worked on some tiny buildings. I actually had quite a bit of fun painting these up despite them just being Grey dry brushes. I still have some roads to paint and the 'flat top' building WILL have a statue on it when I can source an old 2nd Edition Marine from somewhere.
The details on the front of the ruins are just Imperial Knight icons.
You simply must have a 2nd Ed marine to hand. I refuse to believe anyone doesn't. The number I have 'found' in ziplock bags or boxes for some project long-since forgotten is beyond belief at this stage
Well I'm not actually old enough to have any 2nd ED models........... Yeah, ok, I can't even pretend to be THAT young. I ditched all of my old 2nd ED stuff in a moment of stupidity as a young adolescent when the 'new' plastic Marines came out in '98. Holy crap, that was 23 years ago and I STILL think they're the new style of Marines.
Thanks for the donation OSJC, I've built him but he's yet to be painted as I've had other things on the go............. speaking of which!!
I built my second Warlord for the White Titans.I wanted a bit more of a dynamic action pose......... however, once again I messed up at the hip joint so instead of charging forward he's more plodding slowly towards the enemy. Which has it's own charm I think. I still like the pose as it has a feel of 'weight' about it. I also chopped off each of his toes on his right foot to reposition them.
Also!! KNIGHTS!!!!
I needed a little 'add on' to my yellow/Red Titans as they weren't quite 1500pts as a force yet.... yet. I will do another Reaver. I'll probably end up doing some more of these Knights as well. I'd love to do some Armigers for them and recreate my 40k Knight army
Does anyone happen to know if there are any rules for Knght Crusaders and/or Knight Gallants?
Cute little dinky knights. And love the RT-esque basing of the Cacti! Is this your retro penance for getting rid of your 2nd Ed marines back in the day?
The plan was to put two tiny Armigers on a 40mm base and count them as a single Knight for the time being. I doubt GW will go smaller than a Questoris though as the game is meant to be about massive Titans Blowing seven shades of ...... out of each other. Not little tiny Warmachines.
Not much of an update. I've done some new weapons for the Warlord and a bit of scenery.
Because NO ONE WILL EVER SEE THIS!! I've taken a picture to show off the detail........... because no one will ever see it in games. I'll know it's there. Which is enough.... I think?
I got my hands on that 2nd ED Marine and a kindly donation of some 3d printed marines. Some old bases, some plasticard and Boom! A quick and easy chapel.
hell, that looks great Lord B.
god I love those 2nd ed's done as bronze statues ever since I saw it in a wd on a cake pillar...
to find out that nottingham have one outside? blew my mind when first went there!
I've not had much chance to do any hobby of late but I managed to get some bits done over the Easter weekend (now I'm back to work for seven eleven hour shifts on the bounce!).
I've built 3 Reavers, 2 for the white Lego and 1 for the Yellow Legio. This wee chappy is the 3rd Reaver for the Yellow boys!! I cobbled some Carapace Mega Bolters out of some spare Warlord ones I had kicking about. I kinda like them........ kinda.
I also managed to get some knights finished. These are all ebay rescue jobs so I'm not claiming responsibility for the non centred barrels lol. They're just gaming models so I'm not that fussed about them.
I'd like to get these boys some Armigers and expand them into a 1000 point force. But that's a ways off yet as I want to get my next White Legio maniple done first.
gobert wrote: Pretty spectacular for eBay recurs, the wonky barrels are pretty hard to spot under the paint scheme
The wonders of Methylated spirit It confuses me that someone went to the effort to drill put the barrels on the Avenger Gatling Cannon and then not take the care to make them central lol. OH well, at that scale, no one will see them...... unless of course I post them online so everyone can see them.
Thanks guys! I ended up leaving the smallest cacti with no spikes. For no aesthetic reason than it was just too fiddley with the smaller ones! AS for the names, yeah, I wanted something a bit more brutal and derogatory.
Ok, so, I'm working on another (possibly last) Titan for the Yellow Boys. This is Rubigo Situla and is still somewhat WIP. I'm not sure what to put in place of the Flak Cannons. I like the mortars on the Warmaster so may well do something like that. I'm not sure. The plasma reactor things at the back in place of the Quake shell magazines are temporary until I think of something better.
Ha, well, I can put up loads of pics of half finished models. It's basically all I own
Well, I could make this an especially 'Dirty' Titan. Although Sordidum Senex really should be the dirtiest The Crackle paint is not a bad idea! I'll certainly try that out that's for sure. I have never used the weathering powders. What do you use OSJC?
Gobert, I remember you name from way off...... Were you on Librarium Online before it melted?
well the best thing is always a good wash.
in the past, before the gw citadel washes were released I used to use a variety of acrylic varnishes and woodstains. this can still be good but is not always the best finish. espescially since the citadel washes do so much more.
stippling and sponging is good for layered filth.
the typhus corrosion is good for gritty filth, but I always used to mix either, brickdust, cement or even tetrion filler with watered tacky-glue (a hobbycraft pva blend thats excellent for modellers) and apply it that way.
Ive not used the fw powders but used the old fashioned way of using ground up oil pastels mixed with white spirit back when I did military vehicles... the ws sets it hard as varnish but does have the added bonus that you can use a q-tip to clean any you don't want afterwards with more ws... (only do that on acrylic painted models though, or your paint will just get stipped/livened-up and wrinkly and thats never good :(
Ive read the fw powders function in a similar way but in truth Its a lot of funting about for something that can just as easily be achived 'acrylicly' with a bit of approprite coloured chalk-dust mixed into some lahmium medium, and a buch of good washes and deft brush/sponge work...
dont overlook the new contrast paints either. I'm sure the thicker than wash nature would make for some great weathering effects with a bit of experimentation...
Thanks OSJC. That's a great insight and I will certainly try a few of those!
Huh, small world then Gobert!
Like a big kid, I couldn't resist building this guy and starting to paint it. I had told myself it would be my reward for finishing the next maniple. But who was I kidding? Of course I was going to do him next!! He was easy enoigh to build but it was a long process. It took me 2 days to build him and 34 (yes, thirty four) magnets!!!
(top right panel will be purple)
Next to a Reaver just to show the scale of this BEAST
I have also started work on the Warbringer. It's just leadbelcher and washes as the moment.
He certainly is. Gw really have outdone themselves with this. The detail is on another level. It's gonna take me months to paint
I have the White all lined out and ready for highlighting. The purple is also done. Although I'll probably end up doing some more panels purple. I've left a few as I'm not sure what colour to do them (might change when I get it all together)
Well, that's this guy done. Well, I say done. I need to paint the Quake Cannon and find some replacement Flakk guns for him. But, yeah, he's done enough foe me!!
Also, name change. Fragmentum Acervum (Scrap Heap)
I guess someone 3-D prints something, but not my part of ship, so wouldn't have a clue where to look!
And I really am the wrong person to ask, as I never bother with WYSIWYG as I find it unduly limiting. Your titans are distinct enough for your oppo to be able to keep track IMHO, and I always hand over a list to my oppo with pics
But hopefully someone else has some better ideas!!
Although that being said, I hear good things about Thingiverse and/or Etsy if the 3D print route is preferable
Well, been a while! Not gonna bother with excuses. Just gonna post pictures of some WIP work of my Warmaster (Lux Aeterna).
Had my first game since Covid yesterday. In true fashion, I lost. but it was a great game none the less. I'll get some pics of that up soon(ish)
Automatically Appended Next Post: So, this was my first game (I think) since Covid hit and my first game using my Yellow Titans!! My opponent who has been sitting on his titans for about 6 months and still not got them done borrowed my other Titan force. Both were 1530pts (an odd number but hey, at least they matched!). We didn't use Maniple rules, Stratagems or Legio rules as I wanted to keep it basic as it was his first game.
In the White Corner we have
Vetus Gloria (Warlord)
Ultima Nuntius (reaver with Melta Cannon)
Sol Alba (Reaver with Volcano Cannon)
Senex Spe and Friend (Warhounds)
Deployment and First Turn. Not a lot happened really. Pretty much all of Legio Cariosus pushed their reactors to get closer to the enemy and other than a few pot shots little happened.
Senex Spe and his mate move into the ruined town, only to make a hasty withdrawal as Fallo Amans smashes its way into the town square only to end up squaring off against Ultima Nuntius. As if the war torn town hadn't had it bad enough!!
Vetus Gloria, Sol Alba, Senex Spe face off against Sordidium Senem. It did not end well for poor Sordidium Senem who crashed to the ground in front of the enemy battleline.
Fallo Amans smashes his way through the town to get to grips with the enemy Titans whilst Trux Animalis and Ferrum Meretrix attempt to flank the enemy and get to grips with Senex Spe. Fire from Fragmentum Acervum, Ferrum Meretrix and Trux Animalis finish off Senex Spe's Friend who suffered a Critical meltdown and damages all nearby Titans.
Ferrum Meretrix opens up Spenex Spe's armour with it's chainfist and finished it off with it's Gatling Blaster. This resulted in a complete reactor Meltdown damaging all Titans nearby, some badly.
After Senex Spe went critical Ferrum Meretrix was easy pickings for Sol Alba. Ferrum Meretrix also suffered a critical meltdown and the resulting explosion also caused Fallo Amans AND Trux Animalis to suffer a critical meltdowns as well.
Sol Alba, reeling from the damage suffered from multiple reactor meltdowns then took a direct hit from Fragmentum Acervums quake cannon. Resulting in yet another Critical Meltdown and causing the unfortunate Ultima Nuntius to suffer a magazine detonation. This left Fragmentum Acervum and Vetus Gloria as the only Titans still standing....
Turn 4, with only two Titans left the game could end here.... Fragmentum Acervum rescues the Titan crew. All it needs to do is survive until the end of the game. However Vetus Gloria has other ideas and hits Fragmentum Acervum in the face with it's Belicosa, causing two critical hits....
The game carries on to turn 5. Vetus Gloria wins the initiative and first fires it's Belicosa into Fragmentum Acervums face (again) and finally puts the last of Legio Cariossus down.
Been a while since I managed to get any Titanicus done, mainly as I'm working on a little Necromunda project.
A mate of mine printed off some Plasma Blast guns for my Reavers. I've painted up 4 but only have 2 painted Reavers lol. So I'd better get my posterior in gear and paint up my last 3 Reavers!
Been a while! But I have been a tad busy. I bit the bullet and bought a 3D printer so I've been having some fun with that. More printing and buiding than painting but I have managed to apply paint to a few things!!!
A Chain Fist for my Warlord.
Some Teeny Tiny Armigers. Yes, they're not based! I know! I'm not sure whether they'll end up on 25mm bases or on 32mm ones........ who knows!
I've also done some more work on my Warmaster - Lux Aeterna. I'm hoping to have the Torso done this week. I'm still looking for some Heraldry for him to go in the little shields.
Thanks mate Oversized Choppy weapons is why we play Titanicus..... right?
Ok, The Torso is finally finished. Minus some decals on the little shield things and on the Purple Plate above his head anyway. But I'm yet to work out what I want to put where with the Decals. So they can wait.
Next up? I'm currently Painting up a load of Titanicus Scale Armigers and I shrunk down a 40k Las Impulsor so I could convert up 2 Knight Preceptors to lead them.
Finished off some scenery, objectives and stratagem 'counts as'. Had lots of fun painting all the little details on these (Especially the lenses on the guardsmen's Binoculars') .There's a few more bits of scenery to do so I'll try and get them done this weekend.
Little Landing pad to represent the Bombing run stratagem
Forge World Scenery.
Bunkers N' That
Some Guard Basilisks to represent Bombardment stratagem and a Praetor to represent the missile stratagem.
Thanks mate. I've been printing stuff off like a mad man. Especially since GW kindly just released rules for Armigers!! So I've painted 5 more of the little fellow. That gives me 6 Helverins and 8 Warglaives.
I have no idea on the rules as yet but figure they'll come in units of 3 (as that's the set) so I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to pain 1 more Warglaive up. I'll also need to paint up another Preceptor as I'll count them as just normal Knight Errants for now.
The Newbies...
So this is my little Knight force as it stands.... I'll probably aim for 1250pts or 1500pts. No idea how many points Armigers are so... who knows what I'll be adding.
The Armigers look barely distinguishable from the official Forge World models, and were probably a good 80% cheaper? Great stuff. I think the *official* ones ended up on 32mm bases.
The WIP on the Warmaster is brilliant stuff, such an excellent scheme, I adore the purple and white.
Thanks guys. The only thing thats different from the GW ones is the detailing on the armour. To be honest, I prefer these. They look better and they're in better poses. They cost 31p for 3. Which is 1%, give or take, of the FW cost lol.
I can't say I've been up to much. I've been at work a lot and not had much free time. I have painted the black on the Warmasters arms which, really, is the main ballache of the thing. So the rest of it should take too long.
Other than that, I've been 3D printing a Hell of a lot of stuff for someone else. So I can't even show off that.
Ok, I've been quiet but busy!! I've started an Orc and Goblin Warmaster and printed off a 1000pt list for starters so expect pictures of that soon. Plus, to continue with the fairly eclectic spread of Specialist games I've found myself into...
I've printed off a fairly large crashed system ship for Titanicus Terrain. It is still a fair way to completion. I need to do the bridge, finish the 'wings' and add some more interior details. Then base it.
On top of that I've made another Reaver Titan for my Legio Cariossus. Can anyone else hear the BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Also, more to prove that I haven't forgotten about him, I'm half way thrugh finishing the arms for my Warmaster. I'm quite pleased with the plasma coils.
Last, but by no means least, a mate of mine asked me to sculpt/convert him up some Orlock style Ogryns. So here's the WIP so far. One is done. One is underway and the other one is just getting started. Lots to do still and, yes, the weapons are magnetised.
I managed to get some more work done on my Warmaster. He's essentially done. I just need to add decals, freehand and maybe some weathering in certain areas. Plus neaten up the mistakes that the close up pictures have pointed out to me
Shoulder weapons and little AA/Mortars are also magnetised.
Congrats on your large plastic son Looking quite grand. Also I keep forgetting to circle back and say how rad the saw arms on that reaver are, how adorable the knights are, and how solid those ogryn are! Great work across the board.
Thanks guys, its appreciated I'm not sure what I will do for the freehand on the little shields but I'll get there. I also need to go back and redo the rest of the titans bases as I painted the stone on their bases the same colour as the sand.
I finally managed to get my mates Ogryns done!! Had quite a bit of fun making these as it has been absolutely AGES since I played around with Green Stuff
Thanks guys Once my mate has painted them I'll post pictures of them. He's chuffed so that's the main thing!!
So, now that I'm able to concentrate on my own hobby I've finished my Reaver
I also managed to pick up a Warbringer off Ebay for a measly £18. I've been toying with the idea of making a Non-Nemesis version for ages. So I took the plunge. There's an awful lot of work still to be done and it is just the main shape in most places but it's getting there.
Small update. I've printed some Gatling blasters at 90-something-ish% and they work pretty well and are pretty much the same size to the Reaver versions anyway. What say you?
I've finished the sanity testing Diamond pattern on him and I think, other than some neaten up bits, he's done other than the base. Speaking of the base! Any suggestions?
I'd say you've also got quite a bit of work done on the your not-Nemsis! Shoulder gatlers look the business, assuming they're due some cowling livery yet.
EDIT: I spoke too soon! Diamons and yellow look splendid. I can't remember if you paint any glow on your warlord shield generators? If so, I'd say that.
Good Lord. Has it really been almost 3 months since I updated this Time flies when you're manically busy eh? :
Finally managed to apply some paint to some miniatures. I had painted these warhounds back in April and it's taken me THIS LONG to find the time to finish the weapons, bases and decals.
In other news I've been bullied into doing a World Eater Force for this silly new Horus Heresy Game. So I'm guessing I'll be posting pictures of them soon. Silly 28mm models distracting me from the awesomeness of 6mm stuff!!
This time some Heresy World Eaters. I have been working on these for ages but I managed to get these done and I have another unit of 19 marines half done. So expect them soon-ish! (maybe the end of the week!?).
I have been printing off a LOAD of stuff for my next army (Imperial fists). For that army I've bought loads for but will probably never get round to doing. :
Great looking posse of maniacs! The blood is particularly satisfying on that white armor (all according to plan by whatever High Lord of Terra first chose the scheme, I'm sure).
Funnily enough, I had to look at this pics for a long time to decide what scale they're at Since so much 10-15mm Heresy has come across my feed these days, particularly from 3D printers.
Kid_Kyoto
Glad you like the Scenery There's more pictures in this thread somewhere, god knows where though!!
Boss Savage:
I'm the same!! I'm part of so many FB groups that do 8mm scale marines I have to double take on what's what! Especially with tanks now that 3D printers are so good!!
I managed to get my unit of 19 Despoilers done!! They don't hold up well up close but I just want these done to gaming standard. I really want to get back to painting my Titans.
Also on the work bench is a centurion in Tartarus armour and some old school Dreadnoughts that I'm using to represent Castraferrum Dreadnoughts. Hopefully I'll get their bases finished today but the Dreads will need some battle damage at some point.
I had a game against a mate of mine today. My World Eaters Vs his Iron Warriors. No idea who was Loyalist or who was a traitor but that's the Heresy all over isn't it? All that matters was that Blood was spilled Really nie to have 2 fully painted armies on the table (for a change).
The brave tactical Legionaries who, after taking their first casualty were pinned. Oh well lol,
Foolish Iron Warriors getting cocky. They learnt the hard way.
Overall victor to my World Eaters but my mate had some piss poor dice rolls.
Boss Salvage wrote:Those old school dreads are super sharp - and suspiciously clean, not even a bloody boot from kicking a fool
I have chipped them up a bit! Although I haven't taken any pictures. But I have!! I promise! lol. No blood splatter on those boys as they're shooty. If they ever beat someone to death in combat I'll add some blood but until that happens they'll remain blood free.
gobert wrote:Loving your World Eaters, the blood spray is spectacular! Can’t wait to see the Dreadnoughts all doused in blood too!
Thanks mate. Dreadnought is done...
Well. I can't actually believe it but I have a fully painted 1500pt Army. I can't remember the last time I've managed to do that. They're a bit rushed and wont win any competitions but they'll do!!
New Arrivals. Heavy support squad and Contemptor.
So! What's next? Definitely some assault marines but what else??? Ideas please
Lord Borak wrote: No blood splatter on those boys as they're shooty. If they ever beat someone to death in combat I'll add some blood but until that happens they'll remain blood free.
In that case I look forward to them earning their splatter
Sadly, still no splatter on the old Dreads. Not for want of trying!! They've been doing really REALLY well in my last few games. The last one Vs Iron Warriors the Twin lascannon duelled a Kratos into the ground and left it on 1 HP whilst the twin Heavy Bolter one managed to shred 3 Rapier batteries to death. I'm tempted to do another one!!
Speaking of the game. I have some recent pics from that game and a couple of Titanicus games I played at mine and at Warhammer World.
Only have 2 from the game against the Iron Warriors. But they looked awesome.
Highlight of this game was my Warhound charging a Warlord and doing the last Critical to its head which then promptly fell on said Warhound. But the Warhound lived!! Just! But just is enough
I've also been working on some more of my Necromunda Board. More pictures soon.
This is where I'm at with the board so far. I've had some buildings built for 2 years awaiting paint so I've been just cracking on and painting that. I need to do another roof and a whole new building (Soylent Green!!!).
Also working on these two little hab blocks. I'm currently printing off a load of bits for them like bunk beds, tables and chairs etc but I'm a bit stumped for Sofas. I guess I'll find some eventually!!! I do need some ideas for internal colour schemes though so help me on that one please guys/girls The bottom two levels will probably be some sort of shops/stores of some variety. No idea what though.
Great looking battles, and having the head land on the warhound sounds a good laugh too! As for interior design; in the grim darkness of the far future, there is no interior design! On a serious note, I’d either go for gang colours, or drab industrial colours
I went with a drab grey interior for the flats. I need to dirty them up and add details to them but I want to concentrate on the actual buildings first!! They need rooves but I'm not sure what to do with them. Shall I do them flat? Or sloped? Flat means troops can get up there and I can add details (what?) but slopes makes more sense........ not that any of the other buildings have sloped rooves.
I have so much to do. I have to do the rooves for the flats AND for the admin building. Then I have to make a Soylent green warehouse/meat processing plant with attached Diner. Gah. So much to do....
Look very good, the stairs are great. Go for flat roofs for playability. I would add some grimdark balustrades to the roof to 40k them up even more, and maybe some piping, air conditioning and other small detail scatter.
Thanks guys!! I went for flat rooves. It makes sense considering that the rest of the rooves are flat so I just went with that. I've made them but I need to add details but I cant do that until I get some more Resin for the printer........ Such is life!! The Stairs are 3D prints. A really nice file actually but one I had to tinker around with to get to match the scale of the bulkheads.
KhorneGirl: Thank you! The World Eaters are a very much rush job so I'm glad you think they look good lol. They white was just Corax spray, a grey wash, dry brush Corax and then drybrush White scar. Pretty quick!
Oh, and Warhounds are tiny..
The weathering on your Khorne stuff is great by the way. What did you use on them? Powders?
Gouache followed by Varnish & then Pigments, made from pastel chalks. I wish there was a way to paint over gouache without using varnish, but anything that contains water instantly reactivates gouache.
I had to Google that as I had absolutely no idea what that was .
I'm not really a fan of Varnishes as it kills the finish of the paints. So I was looking for something that I didn't need to use Varnish over. Although does it really need Varnish over the top of it? I wont be using my White titans to game with that often. They're more for display really. I need to stop being so OCD and picky....... bu I'm old and set in my ways
If they're for display, than you don't need to varnish them. However, Gouache drys ultra-matte - very much akin to matte-ness of pigments.
So while rust & corrosion looks very realistic due to its matte-ness, grime and dirt usually doesn't.
The detail you've added to this vignette is extraordinary! How in the world did you manage the chalkboard menu? Is that freehand or were you able to print a decal and blend it into the black? The whole thing is very well executed.
I hope everyone's Christmas and new years is as good as you deserve!! i must have been a naughty boy as my household has been visited not by Father Christmas but by Grandfather Nurgle himself!! it's been full of Covid (not me) and Chicken Pox (also not me).
Hobby has been fairly random with nothing really finished. I have started a unit of 20 Assault Marines, an Apothecary and a Dreadnought for my World eaters as well as THREE more titans for the "yellow" legio. No more work on the Warlord as I haven't had the time to commit to it.
Needs more gore 😉 glad to see you’re still add it. One of these days I’ll have to come give a game with some blood soaked, khorne worshipping world eaters
Been tinkering on many things in the long dusty silence but haven't really finished anything worthy of photo's. Until now!!
I've gotten a bit bored of Heresy so have gone back to some good old Titanicius. Because who doesn't love (mini) Giant Death Machines!!
Got some the vast majority of my Warlord done. The white, gold and metal work are all done now. That just leaves the details, decals and the base! Weapons will come later as I have a butt load to do for him.
Also managed to get some shiny new guns for the old girl in my other Legio.
....and started work on some new Titans!! Blurry photo but you get the idea. More Dirty ramshackle titans
Last, but by no means least! My printer has been on overdrive printing some Grim Dark Terrain. I painted all the walls in one night for a game last weekend so they still need a lot of work doing to them such as the windows, doorways and maybe some little flags here n there.
Wanted to give my Warlord a spin to use it's fancy new Carapace Weapons and true to form they were blown off it after firing once. Not to worry though because the old girl managed to put her Chainfist through two Reavers whilst taking fire from just about everything AND managed to survive the whole game. First time shes done that! So obviously she was happy with the new Wargear
Thanks mate. I'll get some better pictures once they're done but I have no idea when that'll be. It's a bit hard to see but what do you think of the Purple roof tiles on the spires with the dark grey walls? Do you think it works? I'm not sure they work together but it was the only suggestion I had!!
Haha, I'm getting a bit OCD with these white Titans (I do really need to give them a name). Looking back at my other warlord I really need to go back and bring it up to scratch Glad you think it's flawless. It really isn't but that's hopefully just me?
No promises when that will be. I only get to paint when I'm off during the week AND have no commitments... yay for adult life.
YUP, adult life for the win...
at least it means we can actually earn money and pay for all this schizle as well as the regular life schizle too, like feeding the kids and all that jazz that gets in the way of painting plastic soldiers... of course...
indeed, the white titans make me enveous for the paintjob on the white but I'm sure I could do it if I actually bothered to be patient enough to put the time in to do it. but even then you'd have me in the dust as far as quality of white is concerned. its something to aspire to at least! LOL
talking of dust,I think thats all thats missing on the walls at this point. a gradiated blend of dusty filth on the bottom quarter would do worlds of good.
the grey is sensible and logical, the purple a lovely accent that suggests at real-world blue-slate visuals and, as I say, a yellowish dust accent would be the perfect accompanyment tot he purple as far as contrasting tone is concerned... but thats just my two-pennith.
I cant even get 20 guardsmen painted at the minute so worry ye not on the lack of hobby-time we all have these days. once spring is upon us and more daylight hours occur we can be sure we'll all get more done...
Had all the time but no money to do the hobby in my youth. Now I have the money and no time Ah well. It is what it is
The white is fairly simple. It's Corax white (handed painted on this guy) and then just blended up with white. Just using really thin coats until I can do a pure white highlight. Takes ages but looks good I think. You are more than capable of copying my paint jobs but please don't. lol.
That's a good shout! I'll get some dry brushing done on the walls to help blend them into the board. Maybe even this weekend if I can get all my Dad tasks done.
you're doing guardsmen! Really REALLY nice guardsmen at the moment.
Worry ye not, I'll not attempt the white in a hurry! but perhaps one day...
re. the Guardsmen, thanks!
but what I really meant was that I've 20 of the filey troopers collecting dust in resin and plastic and no matter how many weeks go by, I keep just building more nucadians and not painting the stuff I should be! LOL
You know how it goes. building is something you can pick up and do anytime of the week. painting is another story. got to make the time...
meant to mention also, the worldeaters are a lovely! most impressed with the speed you got those done. It only took me four years to do half as many spacesharks... lol...
Nope! No days! I don;t want you showing me up Although it would be cool to see you do some Titans
I dread to think how many Guardsmen I have stashed away waiting to be painted......
You probably put more effort into those Space Sharks as my World Eaters though. They are very much dry brushes and washes. Which is why I haven't taken ANY close up pictures of them
Walls are done!! I added some dust to the bottom of the walls to help blend them into the board and done the doorways and the windows. My son wanted them to be red as he thought it looked like an evil castle and evil castles always have red windows...... so they're red.
itsonlyme wrote:The titans and epic scenery looks really great. I hope they make a proper epic game again.
Thanks mate. As for EPIC. I'm in two minds. I do want it as I'd really like to play it again but at the same time Titanicus isn't anywhere near done. They have loads of titans still to release and I don't want the focus taken off of them. After all, I play Titanicus because of the Giant Robots of Death, not some tiny Leman Russ tanks. Titanicus doesn't get a great deal f love either and it's 6 months or so between releases so that'd mean I'd be waiting EVEN LONGER for a new cool class of Titan.
osjclatchford wrote:And he's not wrong.. the red windows really make it pop.
It looks like a castle from an 80's cartoon now! (in the good nostalgic way, that is)
the dust is rather subtle but perhaps thats just the photo's...
if not, cake that sucker! LOL
Well you're on the same level as a 7 year old But he does have some very good colour scheme ideas! (he's painted some Titans himself in his own schemes and they look very good!). I, obviously, take all genetic credit for this.
The dust is a bit sublte I guess. But it's enough to blend it from a very dark grey to the sand board. So it'll do for me
Ah well. Enough messing about with scenery. I better actually paint some Titans
Cracking work on the World Eaters, must be great to get such a good sized force together so quickly. The new warlord is coming along very nicely, it’ll look great stomping along the new walls too!
Just to show you I haven't forgotten about the hobby. Here's some more WIP pics of the Warlord. I've been on some mad 14hr shifts and it's pretty much killed me off. but hey, little by little it' getting done.
Quite happy with the banner. But certainly can be improved!!
Haha, thanks. I quite like them as well, even if they are fiddly as hell to make. I should really try and find some 3D files but oh well.
Ugh, I should take a break. I need to tbh. I have a week off in a couple of weeks and then another one in April as well as 2 weeks of training courses coming up. So that SHOULD give me a bit of RnR.
No doubt I'll end up doing loads of DIY around the house on my weeks off. But the training courses are away from home so I'll probably end up taking some toys with me to do in the hotel. If I don't spend the week in the bar!
Finally managed to finish off the next two 'hounds for my Legio Cariossus. I still need to do the Reaver and the absolute MOUNTAIN of Forge World weaponry for my White Legio. Next week I'll make a start on them. Maybe.
Also managed to get distracted by some 3D printed titans. I printed the Warhounds off a year or so ago for a mate who then decided he didn't want them. Then recently I found a Lucius Reaver file and I caved. I wont be spending much time on them as they are just a distraction of a distraction and, to be honest, I don;t actually like the models that much but, hey, its nice to have some variation.
The warhounds look great and I spy some classic alien cacti too, nice!
The Lucius printed titans look cool, and thematic having them as a separate legio. The warhounds are cool, but the reavers legs seem and bit narrow front to back.
I rather like the new green legio
the utilitarian nature of lucius pattern vehicles lends itself to such colourchemes with ease...
Also, funny that distractions within distractions occur so often in this hobby!
I waiting to see some proper square bases stuff you slacker. The old worlds only around the corner. I promised you years ago I’d give you chaos a spanking
Well I'm done with the distraction of the distraction now. The Lucius Titans are finished. I do quite like them and the scheme but I doubt I'll do anything else for them. Maybe some retro knights or something? Who knows!!! Happy for ideas though..... I do have a Lucius style Imperator.... Just saying.
No square base stuff yet!! When this Old World thing kicks off I'll actually get around to painting those metal Marauders I got off you about 10 years ago
Hey, you never know!! The only reason I haven't done them is because fantasy died a death :/. If it comes back then I may well get back on it. When I have finished my Titans that is.
All I need to do is stop buying and/or printing new Titans and it'll be easy to achieve!!! Nope, nope that is 100% not a Lucius style Warmaster printing right now. Must be your imagination.
Well, I'll start WHFB when I've finished my Titans....
Speaking of Titans!! I got a little distracted.......
Warmaster for my Lucius titans. Cobbled together from several different kits but mainly an Emperor Titan reduced to 75%. Stands a smidgen over a normal Warmaster but not by much. A mishap when printing the right shoulder led to some hasty battle damage to save the print. Came out OK I think!
Wonderful. When someone says titan, the Lucius warmaster is where my mind goes first so I'm biased but yeah. Damn fine job. Especially with the damage to save the print... Makes it more interesting bto be honest...
To be honest, I much prefer the Mars pattern titans. I just love the sleek look of them. They just kinda look elegant which is a contrast to most 40k stuff as it hints back to an era when humanity wasn't so dark and rubbish at everything.
Having said that though, the old metal lucius warlord is what got me into EPIC in the first place. I love that model so the pattern always has a soft spot in my heart. Just not the warhound and, frankly, awful reaver titan they did in the same pattern.
Started painting the Warmaster up. It's an easy scheme to knock out so it shouldn't take me long. For me anyway.
You know what, I meant warlord as it goes.
that metal one, thats the exact mini/design cues I think of when someone says "titan"
also because its the posterboy titan from the dan abnett written graphic novel of the same name.
cant agree more about the ugly lucius reivers and the classic warhound? argh like an ugly toy robot from a kids saturday morning cartoon... I could never take that seriously...
I mean, just look at this goofy bugger...
That is one sweet Titan! The rescue l/detail increasing work looks quite extensive but works really well. Good luck getting to those Marauders… I have similar problems with more plastic crack appearing quicker than I can paint stuff!
The big guy is finished! The paint job is quick and no bother. I think I spent more time n effort painting the guardsmen on his feet!! Those things are tiny!!
I have a stash of the old titans for a far away future… 6 of the warhounds, 4 of the reavers and 9 of ye olde beetlebacks… Hmmm…
Do it!!!

The old style titans, like the metal warhound and the plastic Warlord, yeah, they're pretty poo. I do like the metal Reaver and the OLD metal Warlord (because it's quirky). The new Range of Mars pattern titans are awesome. As you said, though, the Lucius Warlord on the front cover of that book looks amazing.
The warmaster came together really quickly! Love that they have a small army on their bases, gives a great sense of scale and sets them nicely in universe!
Cheers! I've wanted to get some Infantry and tanks on the bases for ages but have never really liked the files/models around. I'm not that fussed with the printed stuff though, so on they went I do love how BIG they make the titans feel.
Speaking of BIG. I finally printed my next big, and I mean BIG, scenery project. On to painting now I guess! What colour shall this beast be? And, yes, of course I'll be printing a space port to fit it on. Why wouldn't I be?

This is overwhelming, and extremely cool, but you missed the final 11/10 trick of making the nose cone splitable in three, to make that whole thing an hommage to the OG Devourer Dropship:
I'd say classic BFG dark green body, with white prow and golden/bronze trim.

You're showing your age knowing about that Drop Ship (so am I I guess!). It's cool but unless you know a friendly 3D designer I'll have to make do with this design Classic Dark Green does sound good actually. I don't have any Green on my board apart from Plasma which is tiny. So it might well be a good way of drawing attention. It was either that or Yellow, the same as I had done my BFG transports.
Well I finally, finally managed to get some paint on some weapons and finish off my second Warlord. This is {Ira Aeterna}.
I tried some funky Plasma Shenanigans
I also managed to get some of the shiny new Forge World Beamers done. They're beautifully detailed and very nice to paint!!
As for the drop ship. I've gone for a Dark blue with White Prow and wing/armour bits. I'll hopefully have some worthwhile pictures in the next few daays.
Very excellent work- congratulations on completing it! Everything nice and crisp, very detailed pin lining, in my opinion just the look that an Imperial fighting machine like this should have.
The beamers turned out exceedingly well, also. Your paintjob highlights the intricacy of the mechanism- captures that detail that the sculpt possesses and makes it easier to see!
So, I've wasted an awful lot of my time at work recently and have been pretty burnt out. However I have had 4 days off and have managed to get some Hobby time. I've got the vast majority of the Drop ship done, although It needs something on the prow and some scorch marks here n there. Then I can start work on putting things in the cargo bays!! You know, all that extra detail NO ONE will see? Yeah, that stuff.
With the release of epic, aka Legions Imperialis, I spied some Melta weapons on those Warhounds. Well, I went ahead and got ready for it!! They were a free file on Cults. So all credit goes to them.
I also managed to print off some random little mechanicus guys working on the damage to my Warmaster. There was supposed to be more Servitors but they failed to print properly. So for now it's just the one and his enginseer boss.
I love a bit of hidden detail on minis, so I’m looking forward to super tiny cargo! The drop ship looks ace, as do the mods to your Lucius Pattern Titans.
Been a while!! I'd like to say I've done loads of Hobby in the last, Oh, 4 or 5 months but that would be a lie. However! I managed to start and almost complete two more Reavers this week. Just the Base, decals and names to go. Then onto the weapons.
Quite happy with the way these guys are coming along. Still a few bits to neaten up (damn you close up photo's).
I've managed to finish the two Reavers. Well, I say finished. I want to add some scroll work to their knee pads once I find small enough transfers. Plus, I need to do their weapons so not completely done.

Behind the scenes I have still been working on my World Eaters. I just haven;t really finished anything. I have multiple squads that are half done. I'm currently working on some characters to kinda get me in the mood to finish them off.
Been absent for quite a while. For various reasons but hopefully they're all behind me and I can concentrate on the hobby again.
I finished off the Titans AGES ago but never got around to uploading the pictures. The World eaters I smashed out this week for a game today (my first this year I think). Which I lost, just. I had fun with my two new units though and they both did well which was a nice surprise!!
My Titans I am quite proud of. I spent a lot of effort on this Maniple, much more than the last one.
Haha, I'll take compliments like that any day! Thanks
The plasma Squad actually did better than expected (they lived past turn 1 basically). They were running around with a character (Armistos) who gives them +1 BS. So they're hitting on 2's. They were nasty. One died to an over head but given that's from about 50+ shots in the game I figure that's pretty damn good. As for the Rotor Cannons. I wasn't expecting much from them. 20 str3 shots is a lot but against marines was never going to achieve much. They did pin a squad of Iron Warrior veterans on the first turn though which was funny.
I'm going to hold off on more Titans until my World Eaters are done. Once they're done I'll get back on My Titans. I want to do AT LEAST 3 more Warlords for them. Preferably 5 more because I love punishing myself. There's also 2 more Warmasters in Boxes as well..... Oh my.
As for the World Eaters. I have 20 more Despoilers, 20 Assault Marines, 3 Land speeders, 10 Terminators and a Leviathan to paint. So hardly anything really. Emperor help me.
I'd best get cracking painting some marines then..... sigh.
Back with a bang Borak! Those titans are super clean and lovely the world eaters are stunning too, sounds like they need blood splatter adding from all those kills (for the plasma chaps at least!)
Thanks mate! Yeah, that's not a bad shout actually. They need some blood now that they're, well, bloodied.
Ok, so something random happened. I'm back to painting Gothic. I introduced my son (8) to Red Dwarf and god knows how but he remembered I made a Red Dwarf model (out of my Mass Conveyor). I have NO idea how he remembered this as I did that years ago but the minds of small boys work in strange ways.
So that led me to opening my Gothic cases so he could have a look at it. Which is NEVER a good idea. As soon as saw my Fleet(s) I decided I needed a break from Marines and Gothic was just what I needed.
So here's the first batch of stuff. Six Dauntless light cruisers. I really enjoyed painting these. They're quick to do, great models and it's a nice colour scheme (ever see me doing anything else green?).
All originals. Well, I hope they are!! Some I've had for years so they're definitely 'real'. Some I picked up off Ebay so that's anyone guess. There is a bit of a difference in casting quality (especially at the engines) but GW's quality was all over the place back then so it's hard to tell. I do have some 'knock off' metal ships and the quality was noticeable. So I'm hoping these are all real. I have 3 more unpainted in a box still lol. Although one of those is quite beaten up.
Some of them were missing bridges so I subbed a Chaos one in. I much preferred the look so I swapped them all over!
Currently working on finishing a few cruisers for a different fleet (the grey one with purple prows). So that fleet is all boxed off.
I recently won a bid on Ebay for 8 cruisers and a Battleship (because apparently 12 wasn't enough).
Great looking game, and lovely prow on your battleship. My (3D printer-having) buddies are chattering about getting up to some BFG, and while I'm tempted to print a new fleet (an Inquisition fleet sounds great! but I'd be tempted to do Kroot or something weird), I'm always looking for an excuse to get my Chaos fleet out of storage and back to burning the galaxy down ...
I'll have to try the Chaos Vs Chaos. Although that might well end up as a Heresy Game! I do have a Fairly large chaos fleet that needs finishing. Marines Vs Marines would be very, very brutal.
Managed to get a game in over the weekend. 3000pts a side to get the blood flowing.
We played 'cruiser clash' (with some tweaks) and it came out as an Imperial victory. I'm not sure how but we did more damage to the Chaos fleet than they did to us. It certainly didn't feel that way but there we go. I'll take the win. We've also started a small campaign so I've cobbled a small 750pt fleet out of random odds and sods. Expect pictures of that as soon as I've done them.
I'm also working on a new escort. The original plan for this was to be a 'counts as' Sword or Havoc. It's a bit long and thin and the mid section is a bit longer than it should be really. I'm hoping that when the keel is done it wont look so odd.
I have considered cutting it down and shortening it and turning it into a counts as Cobra. Then working on a Sword in the same style. But I'll see how I feel when it's done.
I'll hopefully get this done this week if I get the chance to Hobby.
Been a while but I have actually been pretty busy hobby wise!
We have started a small Gothic Campaign. We started with 750 point fleets, with reinforcements being an extra 200pts. We've had a good few games, earnt a few refits and had some reinforcements (which still aren't painted).
The Exorcist Grandcruiser "The Bloody Saint" and her Endeavour escort (I need a name). The Bloody Saint has had a rough old time of it of late. She was crippled 2 games ago and the last game she was almost completely destroyed (down to 2HP) after being rammed by 7 Brute Ram ships and then shot to bits by another squadron of Ork Escorts. How she survived I don't know..... but she'll be back.
Escort Ships from Vanguard
The Defiant Light Cruisers "Vigilant 2" and "Vigilant 7". These guys were pivotal in the last game against the Orks, ruining Ork escorts and saving the skin of the grand cruiser.
I have also continued tinkering with Plasticard. I finished the 'prototype and have finsihed the final version. I'm pretty damned chuffed with the way it came out. I wanted a loaylist version of the Infidel raider. For use in Heresy style games or what have you. Three different prows to choose from so you can do a Sword or Havoc, an Infidel, a Firestorm or Idolator.
Well, its currently with the caster at the moment. I actually looking forward to seeing this is Resin!! I should hopefully get the first few samples in a couple of weeks.
Some bits I have been tinkering with this past week...
Fixing some weapon batteries with some 0.5mm brass wire (sorry about the blurry pics!)
Bit the bullet and converted up one of my 2-UP Chaos cruisers to be some sort of Gloriana for my Chaos Fleet
[i
WIP pic of a Battlecruiser for my Gothic fleet
After an Ebay lot I ended up with a VERY knackered cruiser. The whole body was warped and twisted (as if it had been heated up and bent). I tried my best to bend it back into shape but it was no good. So, it ended up in a scrap heap. That was until I went to a Maritime museum and saw a WW1 ship called M33. So here we are, the M33, Originally the lunar cruiser "Holy Cudgel" that was so, horrifically damaged that it was to be scrapped and used for parts. However pressure on fleet reserves to come up with reinforcements led to the creation of the M33. Damaged sections of the Holy Cudgel were removed, repaired and she came back into active service, Despite faulty systems and warped hull sections. She would never win any prizes for beauty but she would assist with fleet patrols. (she's a counts as Endurance)
I need to do a lot to the chaos beastie to make it look less like a 2-UP and more fitting with the scale of the other ships. I'm thinking of elongating some of the prow weapon batteries with thin brass wire, adding some smaller turrets/antennae here and there. Plus whatever comes out the bits box.
Well, the 8th Battlecruiser is done. I might go back and do a few more dry brushes to the other 7 cruisers as they're a bit 'flat' compared to the newest one.
Now, I just need to do 6 Lunars, 2 Dictators and 4 Dominators. Easy!!! Although I might do some escorts as a break from the cruiser Hull. I'll see.
There doesn't seem to be much love for BFG these days :/ I shall continue though!!
Right. Well Bad news..... I sent my Escort off to be cast up. Received the first samples to check and they had some missing details. So somewhere along the lines (between putting them in the post to them getting cast up) they were broken. Probably being pulled out of moulds but hey, hum. I got the masters back so I could repair them and EVEN Worse! A huge section of the master was missing (the front under the prow). So, with a heavy heart I condemned the master to the ' History box'. To say I was gutted is putting it lightly. Hours, and hours of work.....
However, Mumma don't raise no quitter (that's a saying, right?). I still had the resin samples so, after repairing the missing parts, I took the opportunity to add some different variants (which are mainly just weapons). Every cloud has a silver lining I guess!
I haven't really done much painting. Just halfway through doing 15 Firestorms but that's been about it.
That is a cowson of cowsons and no mistake. Still it's allowed you to go back and add even more detail than before so some silver linings in a cloud of third party incompetence/negligence...
And yay to 15 firestorms. Do love me a firestorm...
Also, re. Your casts, Here's to hoping they'll be available to the public soonish, then. Ships of this quality deserve to be shared with every sector in every quadrant of the known galaxy...
Also, yeah..sad to see the loveloss for our beloved bfg. Between our two threads perhaps we can keep it going! Ragsta was threatening more fleet action soon... Must go light a fire under him for that
Really nice scratch builds there. I would have though with the success of the Battlefleet Gothic computer game, that would have brought in some new players.
The kitbashes sure do strain the eyes after a while. Some of the bits are less than 0.5mm in width. So getting them glued in the right place without putting glue everywhere is a huge challenge with my old man fingers lol. Getting them back from the casters in resin was actually quite handy in another regard. I could carve additional details into the resin and/or remove any glue splodges that I'd missed. So they should be a lot less mistakes this time round (I'm OCD, so I'm probably looking at them far too closely than anyone else would).
I've never played the Computer game but it's certainly inspired an awful lot of 3D prints and artwork which is never a bad thing. It's a bit hard to 'inspire' people into a 'dead' game though. If GW had re-released the models at the same time (even a reprint of the original) as the game then yeah, people would have gotten back into it big time.
No Hobby. Far to much real life shenanigans at the moment. But I'll get back on it!! Promise!!
Well, I painted these ages ago but I've been waiting until my caster to finish casting them up for sale before I posted pictures of them. Which has taken ages but I feel like it was worth it!!
I painted these up as Imperial Fists as I've always seen the design as a sort of Heresy-Era or Pre-Heresy Era ship design. Chaos-y but yet not corrupted. Very much based off the Infidel design but with a hint of Imperial to it. I'm very, very happy with it. The fact that I get to see other people paint it is just awesome
Your thread is a clear sign of my poor Dakka attendance in recent months - I know we chatted about your new escorts elsewhere but I was totally oblivious to your WIPs here! Shame on me.
Those paintjobs are gorgeous and the designs are great - I LOVE the crossover between Heresy and 'modern' Imperial designs. Just like Ye Olde grand cruisers!
I actually recently played the BFG computer game to whet my appetite for BFG modelling again. It's... OK. But it relit the fire in me to actually focus on parts of 40K I love - my Imperial fleet.
Sorry, been doing hobby but not actually finishing anything...... So you'll have to make do with some WIP pics instead.
I'm currently working on a Heresy Era Strike/Light cruiser. It's slow going as Im trying to get it as neat as possible.
I've also gone an updated the Weapons on my Lucius Pattern Warmaster. Much happier with these than the Plasma weapons I did. Might have to make some funky rules for a gatling laser blaster.
My Printer is currently on over drive trying to get one of the funky GrimDark Terrain Forgefanes done. It's a big kit!!!
Thanks chaps!! It's amazing what you can get done whilst sick off work!
More work done. Really liking the way this is turning out. Which is very humble of me, I know!! I'm trying to make it look like a cross between the 'new age' Imperial ships and the older Imperial (chaos) ships. So the bottom half is styled quite heavily on the Imperial Dauntless light cruiser. The bridge is almost a carbon copy of the plastic chaos cruiser.
Alas, that's all the work I'll be able to do on this bad boy this week as I'll be concentrating on some scenery.
That's incredible work on the BFG ship. I don't know why I never thought to use plasticard to layer up the details of one of these ships. I mean I I literally used to do that with Legos as a kid. And the end product looks fantastic. Really well done.
Thanks guys!! I have a small (hehe) update for you...
I did some turrets! 3 different kinds but not a fan of the triple barrels version. So I think I'll just stick with the Double and the chonky single barrelled one.
Also, Whilst trawling images for titans I came across this https://www.reddit.com/r/Warhammer40k/comments/shyvl4/i_designed_printed_and_painted_up_two_warden/#lightbox
They are VERY cool but, alas, they are not for sale and the STLs haven't been made available. However, I'm not one to admit defeat so whacked out some plasticard and set about making my own.
Here's a scale shot with a Reaver. It sits happily between a Reaver and a Warhound
Game-wise, No idea what I'd use it as. I'm thinking the Direwolf maybe? A Beamer or Conversion beamer and then coble together a Missile launcher arm to represent the Bolters? I dunno. Or I'll make some house rules for it.
I think the triple barreled turrets really match the aesthetic of the original models, but I definitely see the appeal of those stubby single barrel cannons. They remind me of the bombardment cannons from the Gothic space marine strike cruisers and battlebarges. Brutish and effective. Fantastic work so far.

Damn. I forgot about the Bombardment cannons off the BattleBarge. I'm going to have to copy that!! I love that turret!

I copied a 3d Design someone else did. (Search: Warden Titan Reddit). So I had a vague plan on what to do. Although I had some artistic licence on what I was actually capable of doing with just plasticard. I did copy the Reaver armour plates on the Torso and the Warhounds pelvis as much as I could. Otherwise, very much 'wing it'
I finally finished building it. There's a few things I'd do in an ideal world. Like Pipes on the pistons and more rivets but I'm at the point where it just needs finishing before I lose the will to live. I'm also not happy with the 'bolter arm'. It's to represent a Dire Wolfs Bolters (and is, in fact, a scaled up version from a STL file). I'd rather have something else, maybe a missile pod? I don't know. Just 'something' to represent 6str 4 shots with Rapid.
I also have an update on the Crusade/Heresy Strike Cruiser. The main hull is 'done'. I even went and added tiny Imperial eagles to the sides. Sorry traitors, you'll just have to file them off!! (Unless your Alpha legion.)
The yellow is a really old GW sunburst yellow. But any yellow will do. I then put on 2 coats of thinned down sepia wash. On the second coat of sepia I put dabs of watered down agrax earthshade wash to create dark patches.
Once that's all done I'll highlight around the dark patches of Agrax with the base yellow, working my way up to some harsh highlights.
