For you goat cow lovers:
Gul-Tarvax will be a thing, I've already made those plans. The trouble is that Fomoraic get all the good stuff so I need to rein myself in...

I've forgotten what the "Gul-" part of a Fomorian's name would mean.

If it means bull centaurs I'm down!

Whoops apologies for my brief phone typing, Wehrkind is doing this conversion for me (along with some others!). You should totally post up pics in this thread Wehr

Bossk, it's because I'll be using them as Slaughterhousers for Hordes (with a headswap, also by Wehr!)

Heh, no worries! Just teasing. I will post up some pics hopefully this week as I get them poked at more and more.

Anything regarding the next Kickstarter ;D - can you tell us the theme of it?

@Count - yes, it's all about cavalry...

So, I think we already knew that, or at least highly suspected it, but now we actually know it.

Not sure when it launches, but it will be...soon!

Update on Start Date:

Mierce Miniatures Creator 1 day ago

Provisional start date is the 23rd of August chaps.

Sadly, still no confirmation of Mallax being part of this campaign.

I could see goats on boars, anthropomorphic sloths not so much....

Wihtgar riders were mentioned as well as bronzed horse contraption things for the Atalantes.

Oh, and not forgetting, poor old Hedroc...

Sloths on snails, perhaps?

I wonder if there is an optimal ratio of rider speed to mount speed. Like, if the mount is too slow, what's the point, but if it is too fast the rider can't react quickly enough to control it. So if there was an animal equivalent of an F1 car it would hardly ever be used as a mount because only a handful of humans could ever control it well enough to steer it at all without killing themselves.

I'm the opposite. I love the ysians and have nearly every release/KS model, but I hate that thing's cartoony croc head (IMO of course). Maybe I'll feel different seeing it sculpted.

My backlog of stuff with Mierce - stuff that's been in 'processing' - is quite long as well, and a lot of it has been sitting in the queue for a long time as well.

I still don't quite understand their system - and I'll admit to not getting how it is taking this long for a lot of my stuff to ship out either!

I know we had a fairly decent explanation a few pages back, but...yeah.

I've sent messages to them through the Mierce website asking for clarification/updates/etc.

No replies.

I wouldn't think messages sent through their own website would get lost/shunted to a spam folder, but...who knows?

Rob had to give Mierceday a miss on Friday because of the rest of his workload and the upcoming KS so depending on when you messaged him it may be stick in that backlog too?

Probably?

I mean, sure, sounds reasonable enough.

It does get a bit frustrating to see a bunch of stuff that is now, more or less, 'available' and/or shipping out (and has been for some time) but not have any idea whatsoever where in the overall queue my stuff sits!

Mierce Darklands remains my 'main' fantasy game, so I'll probably be in for too much here - again!

But I am a bit nervous over what the cost for 5 'man' units will be this time around!

Could cavalry just be 3-strong in a unit? Would make it more manageable

I'm guessing 5-strong 50mm-based horse-and-similar cavalry, and 3-strong 60mm-based (and perhaps 80mm-based) somewhat more monstrous mounts.
...Gabrax on Tarvocx, for example - fingers crossed!

...Prices, however, will hurt something fierce for either option

Miercy day!

Cocwocor!
It's Mierceday - but it's also the holiday season, so there's not a great deal to show. Still, what there is, is great! We also have a sneak peek into our next project...

Let us begin!

We've a big beastie for the Brythoniaid to show this week, from Bob Płociennik!

The awesome Bronn ap Banbronn is now done and parted up, thanks to Bob Płociennik's ministrations! We love this guy!

Bronn will be a Wave 14 shipment, as we have to get him printed yet and it's taking a while longer than expected to get stuff printed unfortunately.

Ooooo, a mounted Reiver warrior for the Fomoraic...

Byzantii Legionarius

There's no new miniatures to show this week, but we do have the first sightings of the metal Legionarii for the Byzantii!

Let's go!

We received the first samples of the Byzantii Legionarius Starter Host this week, and they're looking great!

The metal Legionarius Infantry Starter Host has told us what we knew already - sometimes miniatures look far better in bare metal than bare resin! The Legionarii look utterly superb in metal and the characters look great too. You'll all love these guys!

Legionarius Contubernium, Equitus Durio, Velchior and Agathae (Tycho is being produced in resin of course)

The Legionarius Host will be a Wave 13 shipment, all being well, although it'll take a month or so to get the first production casts. So you're looking at September shipments, we think.

Before we go, here's something to whet your appetites, because this is happening later on this month...

Lizzies!

Gukkok's Blades

It's Mierceday - but it's also the holiday season, so there's not a great deal to show. Still, what there is, is great! We also have a sneak peek into our next project...

Here we go...

This week - gulp! - we've the first shots of something for the Khthones from the mighty hands of Benoît Cosse...

Benoît Cosse has begun work on the Gukkok's Blades, Sávrar Unit, and whilst there's a few issues - notably the necks being too long - they're getting there. Apologies for Benoît's photographs again, as usual... although these are pretty good by his standards!

The champion of the unit is of course Gukkok, and he's looking good so far.

We'll fix that long neck, don't worry! And whilst that shield is lovely, it's not the right one... but don't worry, we'll fix that too.

The banner bearer of the unit is Kliss, a cracking miniature so far...

The neck isn't too bad on this guy but we'll make sure it's all coherent with the rest of the unit...

A warrior of the unit is Ikki, and again there's a neck issue; we'll sort it!

These guys will hopefully make it into Wave 14 - at least, the resin versions will...

Before we go, here's something to whet your appetites, because this is happening later on this month...

Thick and fast today

Aidan and Fuggug

It's another update for Darklands: Savage Hordes II, hooray!

Here we go...

We've got something for the Érainn this week thanks to Valentin Zak, and something for the Ysians thanks to Jason Hendricks!

Valentin Zak has staggered us all with his work of late, but we think Aidan is perhaps his best work yet. He just looks awesome!

He will be a Wave 14 shipment, as of course he's not really part of Savage Hordes II.

Jason Hendricks may be a new sculptor to Mierce, but we already love his work and can't wait for the rest of the Corruptors!

The big fat fella known as Fuggug looks utterly brilliant, especially as he's complete!

These guys should be a Wave 15 shipment, as long as Jason gets cracking on the next two...

Before we go, here's something to whet your appetites, because this is happening later on this month...

I'm not totally sold on the Savrar - I love other work by Cosse but I think these might have belonged with Chaudon, who did the character versions I believe.

Aidan is quite simply incredible, though!!

...Oh. I might actually have to start begging to have all those savrar in my order queue switched out for something else.
They're not even bad models - not at all! Just really, really not what I was expecting given both the concept art and, indeed, the initial three characters (which are absolutely amazing).

OTOH I'm guessing the Fomoraic Cavalry will be a unit of avian porcines - they've just shown an Ysian model I actually like (a Kindred I've absolutely never 'gotten' at all, until now)

Just not of the flying variety.

That Brute Corruptor is looking good as well. Nice to see those getting done.

Glad to see that the Oghureach could make an appearance in the next KS. Really want to get those guys in the cue.

Also, is this not the 'least' Ysian looking horse you've ever seen?

"Sure we'll make 16 breasted, crap spraying monsters, but we just like regular horsies." - No Ysian EVER

The fomoraic at least accessorized their horse, though this reiver looks like 'Ice Warrior Barbie' the way she's sitting on it.

Who am I kidding, I can't ride a horse, and I'll probably buy all of these.

The use of stirrups is interesting, particularly in the jutes. They were only recently introduced to Eastern Europe around that time, and my understanding of the wihts is that they are the ancient dead, so it's not like they had them when they died. Nice to see the undead be early adopters!

Yeah, that's something I have had to wrestle with; you'll note that some horsemen have stirrups, some don't, but as the Jutes were at the gateway to a lot of Europe - Kent and the southern coast - and the fact that the Frisians were mixed with them and traded with them a lot, they have stirrups. As for the undead having them, it doesn't take long for a corpse to lose its skin, about 15 years IIRC; especially as they're active (i.e., not in coffins - the freshly dead fight). Thus, it's no stretch (for me anyway) for the undead guys to have stirrups.

The Ysians have stirrups simply because they are part of Europe (Brittany) and their main enemies are the Byzantii, who had them around 600 AD; the Fomoraic have them because those guys are turned Germanics (note their names) and so would have seen/used Byzantii or other stirrups. The Anglecynn don't have them, and neither will the Albainn, Brythoniaid, Érainn or Norse (excepting a few characters here and there).

Bear in mind too that archaelogical evidence may be scant, but leather does degrade and stirrups may not be grave goods. But I've tried to nod towards the current historical thought...

Cheers
Rob

Oh! For some reason I thought the wihts had been dead like hundreds of years, forgotten until the Jutes arrived. My painting scheme will need a revision in that case!

Well, that supposes they get made without the backing, and that the discount on metals is the same as the discount on resin. No insult intended to Mierce, but they are a small company and do need the support of backers to fund development (at least at this pace, which has been astounding). And the discounts on metals might not be the same as resin has been in the past, as those arent cast in-house.When you're making the product yourself, you can sometimes wriggle on the margins. I dont have a lot of free cash now, but did pledge for a unit.

The more limbs the merrier!

Maybe we can get a Hechatonchires for the Atlantes. That might be a bit overkill on the extra limbs though...

Here's a question re: the Kickstarter. I field undead exclusively, so I'm pretty much only interested in the Jute Whitgar Horse. I just don't have much use for anything else. So normally, I'd not kick in my contribution until we were close to 50,000 pounds and I was pretty sure we'd cross that finish line. Of course, that's kind of incentivizing me to hold back, which isn't good. If I were to pledge for a metal or resin mounted host - and we didn't get to the Whitgar Horse, is there any possibility of applying those funds to other, previously produced Jutes from past Kickstarters?

Also, I'm late to the Kickstarter game for Mierce Miniatures. Is there any timeline on when Jute models produced for past Kickstarters will end up in the web store for regular purchase?

Thanks!

Anything still open on the "pledge manager" (just a part of the MM store, really) is fair game for any of those funds. Most Jutes hosts seem to have been removed though so you might want to ask Rob directly what your options would be.

(He's probably easier to get in touch with via his own store's website, on via the Kickstarter PM system.)

it's part of the progress towards general release

after the sculpt are funded on KS the go into the special KS section of the website only backers (and people who ask Rob nicely) can access

the sculptor them does them, sends them the mierce and mierce starts casting them up

then at the appropriate time (based on what wave they were scheduled for) they start shipping to backers,

once everybody has got them (except those who are waiting for later shipping waves) Mierce needs to get them ready for general retail, both on their own site and through stores and distributors

so they remove them from the KS section of the website, and start building up stock, getting the proper packaging sorted (so painted minis and professional photography)

and in a month or twos time they minis appear as new releases in the general section of the website (and are available to distriutors and games stores too)

a lot of the older host deals including many of the Jutes stuff are in the building up stock phase at the moment)

(Rob's Dakka handle is http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/user/profile/64882.page

Got one in my inbox yesterday!

Spoiler:

Due to popular demand we've decided to run our fantastic Low Pound Sale again, although be warned - this will be the last one for a long while!

The Pound Sterling has fallen to some of its lowest levels against various currencies in the past couple of months - the pound has been at its lowest level against the US dollar for over thirty years! - so we thought we'd give all you guys outside the UK even more of a chance to take advantage of that with a whopping 25% off UK RRP voucher to use on purchases from our webstore, starting from now until midnight (GMT) on Monday the 29th of August 2016! Note that this voucher is also available to those of you in the UK, too.

What's on Offer?

You can get your hands on pretty much anything - so, Darklands miniatures, BaneLegions miniatures and Templar's Forge hobby products - apart from components and Kickstarter items. With over three hundred miniatures to choose from, you're spoilt for choice!

Sale Voucher Details

Your 25% off UK RRP discount voucher ends on Monday the 29th of August 2016 at midnight (GMT), and you really do have some superb miniatures to spend your hard-earned on!

Not only can you get your hands on some of our quite amazing back catalogue, such as The Terror of Fortriu or Krull or Galagaak or tons of others, there's also our superb new releases, such as Angrislaug or Mjagnir or the amazing Uuthüll (shown below)!

Angrislaug, Mjagnir and Uuthüll (not shown to scale)

The voucher will work on all the Darklands, BaneLegions and Templar's Forge items within our webstore, but:

not on any Components
not on any Kickstarter items
The voucher will work on pre-orders and, crucially, you'll still earn Moneyback - although tiered discounts are disabled when using a voucher.

Your voucher code is: LOWER-POUND

To use this voucher simply register on the webstore, mierce-miniatures.com (if you haven't already), copy and paste the voucher code into the Voucher field in your basket when you have selected the items you want, press 'REDEEM', and the webstore will do the rest. You are not limited to one purchase and, indeed, we would ask you to recommend us to your friends with this voucher!

Happy Ordering!

Gladiators Ready!

£27,500 - Spartakus, Gladiator on Foot and on Leónis

The Oghureach are here! We've been looking forward to getting these guys done for ages, and you lovely backers have made them a reality. Well done everyone!

To celebrate further, here's another stretch goal for you all to aim for... set at £27,500 to unlock, it's something for the Byzantii - Spartakus, a Gladiator on Foot and on Leónis!

Spartakus is a Thracian Gladiator who won his freedom in the arena; something he probably didn't like too much, so bloodthirsty was he, so he joined the legion where the fighting is thickest - the Legio II Var.

Armed with a falcata and sica, and bearing a parma shield and wearing helmet, greaves and an extended pauldron, Spartakus is a Host Champion of the Byzantii able to ride a ferocious Leónis into battle.

Note that the above artwork is the draft version and will be updated once it is finalised. The scale of Spartakus and Leónis is slightly wrong - he's too large - but that will be corrected in the full version. We just couldn't wait to bring you this stretch goal!

Increase your pledge by £50 ($65) to purchase both Spartakus on foot and on Leónis (regardless of whether Spartakus on foot is resin or metal).

Increase your pledge by £6 ($9) or £11 ($14) to purchase Spartakus on foot in either metal or resin respectively.

Increase your pledge by £45 ($60) to purchase Spartakus on Leónis in resin.

New Shop and Trade releases and painty goodness!

Of Kroks and Men

After a break of a month it's time for some new releases from us here at Mierce Miniatures, and it's all Darklands - nine Darklands releases in fact, and all for you and your hosts. There's two new miniatures for the Albainn - Dúngal on foot and on pony and Ettu the Goghu; a new one for the Byzantii - Equitus Durio on foot and on horse; something for the Fomoraic - Skaadi the Moraine-Sorcerer; and five for the Khthones, all of which are Krokodar related... the unit itself containing five man-crocodiles (called the Slaughterers) and the four as yet unreleased Krokodar!

Sadly, we've not been able to get them painted in time for release (except for Skaadi, who looks wonderful), but the miniatures themselves are fantastic as always - and just like the previous releases, thanks to us being busier than busy bees we've just not had the time to get the release art and descriptions done; but you can still see some good images of each miniature on the website of course.

Dúngal, Mormaer of Dun Durn on Foot and on Pony

It's been a while since we've released any foot and mounted nobles, so here's Dúngal of the Albainn on both foot and on pony. Saving a few quid from the price of purchasing both separately, he's your perfect general for your Albainn host! Sculpted by Olivier Nkweti from the artwork by Sam Lamont.

Ettu, Revered Goghu

Sculpted by Olivier Bouchet from the artwork by Sam Lamont, Ettu is a mighty Goghu - a rock-beast of sorcery and belief revered by the Albainn and especially the Oghur and the Oghurithne. Standing on an 80mm base, he's a massive brute well able to smash apart battle-lines and also well able to deflect sorcerous attacks!

Equitus Durio, Centurion on Foot and on Horse

Another foot and mounted release - saving you a few pounds from purchasing them separately - comes this month for the Byzantii, and it's Equitus Durio who gets to walk and ride. Sculpted by Yannick Hennebo from the artwork by Stef Kopinski, Equitus is the perfect general for a Byzantii host and the mounted version comes with spatha (sword) and kontus (lance) options for him.

Skaadi, Moraine-Sorcerer

A beautiful realisation of an ice-sorcerer by Gauthier Giroud, Skaadi is a wonderful sculpt and a fantastic addition to your Fomoraic host - for she can raise ice beasts to fight for you!

Slaughterers, Krokodar Unit

With the release of the Slaughterers - sculpted by Benoît Cosse from the superb artwork by Christophe Madura - the Khthones now have a unit of heavy monstrouos infantry to batter their enemies with. Armed with a mighty club and sporting a bite and some natural heavily armoured skin, the Slaughterers are led by the unit's champion, Megálávra, and contains a banner bearer, Vókkinak and three warriors - Okkáv, Brudok and Maskó. Megálávra and Vókkinak have been released for a long time, of course - but now they've finally got some mates!

Kinakk, Krokodar Warrior

Kinakk is the warrior variant of the banner bearer from the Slaughterers, Vókkinak. Again sculpted by Benoît Cosse from the artwork by Christophe Madura, Kinakk is ideal for replacing Vókkinak if you don't want a banner bearer in your Krokodar unit!

All of the releases above were officially released on the 2nd of July 2016, and so you can order them right now.

Watch out for the August releases, which should be unveiled soon!

As mentioned, as well as the new release, Mierce have posted new painted photos of models:

First up, the Duguth:

Also, the Gabrax get the treatment:

They've also put a few metal release up on the shop. Looks like they're very close to getting the starter sets ready for launch.

...How, exactly, is that monster going to swing its sword without punching itself on the noggin and/or impaling its own hands with its horn?

Also, more minis sculptors and fantasy artists need to look at the fechtbuchs. If your culture is sophisticated enough to manufacture a two-handed sword, it's sophisticated enough to have figured out how to fight with it efficiently, which means there is no time that you hold it with the point that far behind you.

Here's something promised for you all - a chance to get a hold of the Mounted Nobles that already exist for various kindreds in metal (as well as resin). Have a look at the Mounted Nobles I stretch goal, set at £21,250 to unlock - not too far away!

Update #10

Sep 1 2016

Here's another stretch goal to go for, this time for the Érainn, and it's Rudraige the Fat on a lovely little pony - set at £23,750 to unlock!

Rudraige the Fat is a warlord of the Érainn, a Rí Túath, a minor king from a powerful family line. Mounted upon a small but doughty pony of the hills, Rudraige is a great addition to your Irish host!

Increase your pledge by £18 ($24) to purchase Rudraige the Fat on Pony in metal, or by £27 ($35) to purchase Rudraige the Fat on Pony in resin.

Mierceday! The second Banebeasts projects is alrmost complete - a final Giant head remains!

Giants! Giants!

We're on the last lap of BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters Part Deux, because the three Giants are almost all upon us!

Let's begin!

A newcomer to this project, Andrew May has provided us with some stunning Darklands conversions so we thought he'd be perfect for the Giants - and we weren't wrong...!

Just the head to show from Andrew May so far, but the Giant is in progress...

The Giant should be a Wave 14 shipment!

The Chaos Giant is a little further along the line, with his lovely helmet and club almost done...

The Chaos Giant should hopefully be Wave 14 shipments.

Completely forgotten about this:

Maximus

Last October was when we showed the last miniature from this project... and we finally have some progress on the very last one to be made!

Let's begin!

It's been a long time in coming, but Stéphane Simon has stepped up to the plate and cracked on with the last miniature reminaining from this project, an Ancestor of one of our backers!

Let's have a recap on Maximus' descendant and background first, before we show you the sculpt!

Max Schüte hails from Germany and is, like our other descendants, a prolific supporter of Mierce Miniatures and our Kickstarter projects, and he's joined John Longshore, Tomas Johansson, Rick Boer and Seb Volkmann in becoming a descendant of a Darklands character.

From the very start, Max was very clear in what he wanted - a Germanic berserker of the Kerus, a barbarian tribe of Germany that is well-known to have been a thorn in the Romans' side for many years until the fall of the Roman Empire in the west. In Darklands, of course, the Byzantii are re-conquering the western empire, and this ensures they clash again with their old enemies the Kerusker. Here's a bit of background to Max's ancestor...

Maximus of the Kerusker, whilst now being that thorn in the side of the Byzantii, was raised amongst them: the high-born son of a Kerusker noble, Maximus was given to the Byzantii as a child by his father to become a hostage, the better to ensure the allegiance of his particular Kerus tribe, many of whom fight as foederati amongst the Byzantii. However, Maximus was always a little wild and whilst he initially enjoyed his life amongst the civilised, becoming a warrior of some renown, he eventually came to hate his masters as he realised how depraved they actually were - and escaped to Kerusland, where he found depravity and devil worship. Claiming the demon axe Skōhsla from his father and, with its power, slaying him, he escaped the Kerusker and wandered, becoming a berserker for hire amongst the many hosts that could use his skills...

Artwork by Danny Cruz

Max was very happy to have Danny Cruz draw up his ancestor and we think Danny has done a superb job, as always!

Maximus, as you can see, is a classic Germanic berserker, wearing the bear shirt and looking very wild indeed with those skull trophies. However, there are elements of his Byzantii upbringing, such as the segmentata armour on his shoulders, but that demon-axe looks very nasty indeed.

Sculpting by Stéphane Simon

Stéphane has begun work on Maximus and as you can see, he's already taking shape!

Maximus could well be a Wave 14 shipment, but we'll see.

How can I purchase Maximus?

Maximus is available to purchase from our webstore, in the Darklands: First Edition category (and some others too), at the special Kickstarter price of £10.00.

Who were the Kerusker?

The Kerus, as we call them, were a Germanic tribe well-known in Roman times as the Cheruscii and whilst they disappeared from history under that name before 650 AD - they were said to have been absorbed by the Allemanni and the Franks - there is no reason why a small tribe of the German forests would still call themselves the Kerus.

Dromedon!

It's Mierceday again, hooray! It's also the holiday season, boo. That means there's not a great deal to show, but what we do have is stunning. So that's good then!

Let us begin!

We've a warchief on a 40mm base and a big beastie on an 80mm base for the Byzantii to show this week, from Yannick Hennebo and Roberto Chaudon respectively!

Yannick's been hard at work for some other company but he's back with a bang - Nervor, the lovely Demioption, is ace!

The axe was a little blunt so we asked Yannick to fix it...

Nervor should be a Wave 14 shipment!

Roberto Chaudon nails a sculpt yet again. Iqqud is utterly superb. Don't take our word for it, use your peepers!

Here's a scale shot. He's a big lad!

Iqqud should be a Wave 14 shipment!

We've some works in progress to show you this week, of monsters only, but still good!

Let's go!

Martin Lavat's cracking on with the various monster conversions he has on his plate, as you can see...

The lovely Gunaal - a conversion of the Albainn Aurogg, of course - is complete!

Here's the Greathorn variant...

He will be a Wave 14 shipment.

Martin's done some cracking work on Ischys. It's no longer safe to walk around, people! Tremors?

Ischys should be a Wave 14 shipment!

Eleven Infantry Hosts have shipped / are shipping!

Eleven infantry hosts from this project have been shipped (or are shipping) right now - the Albainn Gairlom, Anglecynn Duguth, Brythoniaid Teulu, Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr, Érainn Tuanagh, Fomoraic Gabrax, Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor, Jute Wihtgār, Norse Holumann, Ysian Ax-Drune and Ysian Bow-Drune Infantry Hosts - as well as the individual miniatures within them.

If your hosts from this project haven't been shipped by now, that means you either:
  • [*]don't have enough shipment items to justify separate shipments or you don't have any shipment items at all;[*]or you have some resin miniatures on order which need to be cast.

  • Note that if you have purchased similar infantry hosts from other projects, such as Savage Hordes or Savage Hordes II, we will only ship what we can (as many of them are different) and they are not guaranteed to have been shipped with your items from this project - and again, it depends on your shipment items.

    What's Next?

The first samples of the Byzantii Legionarius starter host are with us, as you can see, so whilst there's a couple of corrections the production casts should be with us in September.

The Anglecynn Gesith starter host has been sent to the metal casters and we are simply awaiting the first samples. They should be with us in around a month's time.

The Atalantes Oplites starter host is all sculpted but are in various stages of printing, although we are hopeful we'll get those in our mitts and off to the metal casters ready in time for Wave 14 now.

The Byzantii Demilegionarius starter host is still needing the alternate sculpt of Erebius (the full sculpt of Nervor is done but not with us yet), so we're getting there.

We're hassling the sculptors as much as we possibly can! We'll get there!

    Chaaruch the Despoiler

It's Mierceday again, hooray! It's also the holiday season, boo. That means there's not a great deal to show, but what we do have is stunning. So that's good then!

There's just one miniature to show for this project this week, but it's a cracker from Michael Anderson!

Chaaruch is going to be amazing. We already knew that, of course, as Michael Anderson's sculpting him; but to see him take shape is more than just a confirmation...

He does look a bit like Amos Brearly though...

Chaaruch will hopefully make it into Wave 14!

    Automatically Appended Next Post:
    Gnith

It's another update for Darklands: Savage Hordes II, hooray!

We've got something for the Albainn this week thanks to Valentin Zak!

A powerful sorcerer of the Albainn, Gnith is looking fantastic so far...

Gnith should be a Wave 15 shipment!

Next up for Valentin is Crístóir...

We've got Hedroc on Hound-Horse!! We thought he was doomed to live in purgatory forever, but you guys have made him happen... to celebrate, let's give him a compatriot: Kerazek on Horse, set at £32,500 to unlock!

Kerazek is an Augur-Drune, a powerful sorcerer of the Ysians (the foot version of which is from Darklands: Savage Hordes II) and he's now available on horse - a conversion of Uhtred's horse - to become a mounted sorcerer, able to keep up with the fast 'uns in his host and buff them up a bit.

Increase your pledge by £18 ($24) to purchase Kerazek on Horse in metal, and £27 ($35) to purchase Kerazek on Horse in resin.

    Just announced!

    Update #15

    Sep 6 2016
£31,250 - Aanchuth the Cursed on Toracx

Here's another mounted wizard for your delectation! Set at £31,250 to unlock, our old Gabrax Warlock favourite, Aanchuth the Cursed, gets a Toracx to ride!

Aanchuch is another of our earliest miniatures (as the hoof version of course) and is riding a Toracx by popular demand. Most Fomoraic players want a Gabrax Warlock to be a bit more mobile!

Increase your pledge by £30 ($40) to purchase Aanchuth the Cursed on Toracx. He is only available in resin.

    EDIT:

Rob's also calling the Gast King as unlocked, so add him in now if you like!

Either way you slice it (ha) - the beast clearly couldn't swing a weapon around because of it's giant neck and big horns in the way.

It's a lovely sculpt, but the creature just seems too implausible to exist. At least as a weapon-wielding being. (Chances of accidental self-decapitation seem very high).

    Update #18

    Sep 8 2016
£33,750 - Slayers of Dunholm, Slēanbera Unit

The Slēanberan (SLEE-ən-bər-ən) are powerful bear-men of Beornica of old, mighty but few in number, persecuted by the Christians of Northumbraland and who now found employment in the armies of the Miercna and the Eoforas and the Jutes.

Armed with double-handed axes and a gutplate, the Slēanberan will add a bit of muscle to an Anglecynn host!

Increase your pledge by £50 ($65) to purchase the two new Slēanberan, Osbeorn and Ewart; by £25 ($32) to purchase a single Slēanbera; or by £60 ($78) to purchase all three!

Coming in just before the GLORIOUS MALLAX too - and they will definitely help us get there!

Onumo has a big following from one backer in particular, that's for sure!

All kidding aside, he's a fantastic sculpt, and I was happy to see the 2 other Hippoxa get added to this current campaign - I'd bet we'll hit them in this one, or in SAVAGE HORDES THREE PART TWO!

Armed with a mighty axe and a bit of armour, Sreng is an Uncommon, Wild Warchief of the Érainn and will have the Compel (Fir Bholg) and Influence (Fir Bholg Hurler) abilities to make sure the fatties can be brought to battle easily.

Kerazek is unlocked and so it's time for another sorcerer on horseback... this time for the Fomoraic, who gain Maari the lovely Reiver Witch on Reiver Horse - set at £42,500 to unlock!

Maari is a Reiver Witch, a sorcerer of the Fomoraic as well as a strong warrior in her own right, wielding a Staff of the Ice and a war cleaver to take the fight to the enemy - and now riding upon a superb Reiver Horse for added mobility.

Maari will stand around 50mm to the eye on a 50mm base and is an Uncommon, Wild Warchief of the Fomoraic.

Increase your pledge by £18 ($24) (metal) or £27 ($35) (resin) to purchase Maari on Horse!

Saairen Maari, Reiver Witch on Horse

Maari was once a Melusine, a beautiful and beguiling warrior of the Ysians, until the power of Baalor turned her to his influence. Even though her days as a siren are gone, she still prefers to fight as she once did for the skills she learned stand her in good stead under the Eye.

Saairen Maari is strictly project exclusive and will only be available for a short time after this project ends. Increase your pledge by £20 (metal) or £30 (resin) to purchase Saairen Maari!

Stéphane has now completed Maximus and we absolutely love him - he's a superb miniature.

Maximus will be a Wave 14 shipment!

    How can I purchase Maximus?

Maximus is available to purchase from our webstore, in the Darklands: First Edition category (and some others too), at the special Kickstarter price of £10.00. When released, he'll likely be £14.99 in resin - he's a big lad - so you've got a good discount there!

    Another project done!

    Giants, done!

It's a great day for BaneBeasts: Mighty Monsters Part Deux, because the three Giants are now complete - and that means there's no more miniatures to

    Let's begin!

A newcomer to this project, Andrew May has provided us with some stunning Darklands conversions so we thought he'd be perfect for the Giants - and we weren't wrong...!

The Giant is now complete, and looks awesome!

We decided to add an ale barrel to this guy. It's tradition. In our heads, it's Bugman's.

The Giant will be a Wave 14 shipment.

The Chaos Giant is complete too, and looks bally amazing!

The Chaos Giant is done and will be sent as part of Wave 14...

The third member of the Giant family is the Orc Giant, and he looks bloody fantastic, even if we do say so ourselves...

An interesting bit of sculpting on the bottom of the tree trunk... we decided to give it a bit of a backstory... many years ago, this particular tree was the subject of a bit of devilment, and a man was buried underneath it's roots. Over time, the roots have claimed the body, and when the Orc Giant claimed the tree, he also claimed the body too!

    He'll be a Wave 14 shipment, too!

Thank you all for your patience - this project is now complete in terms of the miniatures, but not yet fulfilled in terms of backers getting their rewards.Just Wave 14 to go!

Wave 11, 12 and 13 shipments are now complete - and as always, bear in mind if shipment hasn't been paid for, nothing will ship.

That leaves just Wave 14 to go!

Once it's time for Wave 14, we will try to get everything out as soon as we can, but there's a lot to ship - and as always we prioritise orders in date sequence; i.e., if you ordered early, you'll get your stuff sent early.

    Ogre Dragon

Huzzah! There's some new miniature shenanigans going on this week!

    Let's go!

There's just one miniature to show this week, from Tim Prow...

The lovely Tim Prow has been contracted to convert Scaeroc from Fomoraic to Brythoniaid, and he looks great...

Scaeroc will be a Wave 14 shipment!

The first samples of the Byzantii Legionarius starter host are with us, as you can see, so whilst there's a couple of corrections the production casts should be with us in October.

The Anglecynn Gesith starter host has been sent to the metal casters and we are simply awaiting the first samples. They should be with us in October now.

    More of Chaaruch

On this gloriously moody Mierceday, it's time to bring you a bit of Gul-Gabrax action...

    Here we go...

Again, there's just one miniature to show for this project this week, and again, it's a cracker from Michael Anderson!

The lovely Chaaruch is now officially amazing, which was never really in doubt.

One thing we forgot to mention last week was that Michael's doing the unarmoured version of Chaaruch first, and then we'll cast him, and then he'll do the armoured version... which means you can get hold of unarmoured Chaaruch at some point in the future!

Chaaruch will hopefully make it into Wave 14... we'll see...

    Last one for today:

    Grung

It's another update for Darklands: Savage Hordes II, hooray! It's grim outside - let's not be grim inside!

    Here we go...

We've got something for the Ysians this week, thanks to Jason Hendricks!

These guys are looking fantastic. Jason's really going to town on the Corruptors of Kraozon and we can't wait to see Udo, let along Grung!

A simple warrior of the unit, Grung is completely disgusting. Excellent!

Just to remind you all what he will look like when he's done...

Grung should be a Wave 15 shipment!

It`s the whole lower part of the head as well, that seems off. Especialy the teeth!

I don`t like some proportions as well, but I don`t have a book of Gul-Garbax anatomy close by, so that`s just my opinion

The weapon is odd, but it`s personal taste, again.

The armoured version is the one we're getting from ordering via the Kickstarter, right? Just wondering, as the artwork of the miniature on the link on the Mierce website is different than the one from the KS.

I'd prefer the armoured version, as it will cover up his ugly mug better than a non-armoured one

Yes, I believe the Tarvax are in metal - they're one of the biggest units that can still be manufactured that way.

Also, during this KS campaign, all of that is £70 in metal and £90 in resin - so definitely worth picking up now if you can!

They've been coming soon since the first kickstarter. However it does seem like we're creeping closer to a time when I can tell my friends buy a Darklands starter set, crowd funding free!

Also a bit disappointed the break point occurs at the five warband mark. Would have been nice to see something inbetween wanting one and wanting five.

    Update #1

    Sep 22 2016
    Infantry Starter Hosts!

Due to popular demand from just about everyone, we've worked long and hard to bring you some fantastic Infantry Starter Hosts to bolster the armies of every kindred out there - or get you starting one!

Led by a commander, each Infantry Host features an infantry unit (usually ten strong, with full command) and a monstrous infantry unit (usually five or three strong) to batter your enemies to death with. Each infantry host is around Encounter Battle size, or around 499 gold, and so give you a game that lasts around half an hour to an hour, depending on your experience.

These Infantry Starter Hosts will eventually be released later on this year or early next, although we reserve the right to change some of the contents should better ideas enter our collective heads.
GET A GREAT DEAL WITH THE "FIVE INFANTRY HOSTS" REWARD!

There's a fantastic saving with the "FIVE INFANTRY HOSTS" rewards (in metal or resin), if you're after more than one host! Pledging for this reward saves you over 50% from purchasing the contents of the hosts individually.

    Host and Individual Costs

Increase your pledge by £70 (£80 RRP) to purchase an Infantry Host in metal (although any 60mm monstrous infantry units within that host will always be in resin, as denoted by the red "resin only" text next to the unit), or £100 (£120 RRP) to purchase the Infantry Host in resin.

You can purchase the units within the host individually, as noted underneath the graphic and in more detail here:

£6 metal (£7 RRP), £10 resin (£13 RRP) - Ciniod, Eadric, Thera, Carys, Urien, Equitus Durio, Caitrín, Brunchaath the Vile, Kraan, Wihtwald, Eirik Longaxe, Hedroc, Death-Melusine Rose (30mm bases)
    £9 metal (£10 RRP), £13 resin (£15 RRP) - Penda (30mm base)

    £45 metal (£50 RRP), £54 resin (£60 RRP) - Eoric's Pack, In III Judas (40mm bases)
£54 metal (£60 RRP), £72 resin (£80 RRP) - Oghu Keepers, Wulfric's Pack, The Burning Ones, Gungonn's Brood, Vul IX Muyya, Bellowing Tarvax, The Hateful of Mordain Grave (50mm bases)
£72 resin (£80 RRP) - Brutes of Gondard (60mm bases)
£90 resin (£100 RRP) - Fireborn of Gwaelod, Craven Fiends of Dis, Beasts of Síleann Fen, Roaring Srónax, Trolls of Norrheim, Ruinous Abhorrents of Ys (60mm bases)

Note that you are only given 10% off the individual RRPs - we want to make you purchase the hosts!

Some Infantry Hosts Can Ship in December!

Many of the Infantry Hosts are effectively pre-releases here - with them being just about the same as the eventual released host last on this year or early next. Any host that does not have the yellow "Wave 15" or "Wave 16" banner can be shipped in december, in either resin or metal!

Here's a full breakdown of what can be shipped when:

Wave 0 (December 2016): Albainn Gairlom (metal or resin) - Angelcynn Duguth (metal or resin) - Anglecynn Gesith (resin) - Brythoniaid Teulu (metal or resin) - Byzantii Legionarius (resin) - Byzantii Demilegionarius (resin) - Érainn Tuanagh (metal or resin) - Fomoraic Gabrax (metal or resin) - Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor (metal or resin) - Jute Wihtgār (metal or resin) - Norse Holumann (metal or resin) - Ysian Ax-Drune (metal or resin)
Wave 15 (February 2017): Anglecynn Gesith (metal) - Atalantes Oplites (metal) - Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr (resin) - Byzantii Legionarius (metal) - Byzantii Demilegionarius (metal) - Ysian Sword-Melusine (resin)
Wave 16 (April 2017): Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr (metal) - Ysian Sword-Melusine (metal)

Bear in mind that we may be able to ship components from the hosts separately if you have enough shipping, earlier than the times indicated - for example, the Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr infantry unit can be shipped in Wave 0, if you have purchased two shipment items.

Edit: after taking a look back, it does indeed seem that most of these contain basically the same models as the Metal Age Starters, minus the bonus couple if characters they gave you in that one... but they've gone and added more monstrous Infantry to most sets, so even with a £10 price hike (£60->£70) these seem like absolutely fantastic deals!

Bear in mind that we may be able to ship components from the hosts separately if you have enough shipping, earlier than the times indicated - for example, the Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr infantry unit can be shipped in Wave 0, if you have purchased two shipment items.

As well as the Infantry Hosts, we're giving you a bundle deal for the infantry units within them - just increase your pledge by the amount indicated to purchase FIVE INFANTRY UNITS (metal or resin)!

    And, a Krok concept!

I would have voted for the Krokokh, and then the Guthwulf and then the Skorps - the trolls are my least favorites!

£20,000 - Trolls of Skarheim, Felltroll Unit

With Darklands: Savage Hordes III Part Deux now funded, it's time to bring you the first of (hopefully many!) stretch goals. Here's the long-awaited Trolls of Skarheim, Felltroll Unit, set at £20,000 to unlock!

The Trolls of Skarheim are a unit of iron-hard mountain trolls that comprise two new warriors - Skeggi, the champion, and Ulf - to complement the one that's been released for a while now, Mälmord... you can pledge for the two new ones if you already have Mälmord, or you can pledge for all three of them as a unit, or even Mälmord on his own!

Increase your pledge by £100 ($130) to purchase three Felltrolls; £70 ($91) to purchase two Felltrolls; or £36 ($47) to purchase a single Felltroll.

£10,500 - Unarmoured Chaaruch (limited edition)

Let's bump that total along with something new - and close! - for you all to pledge for. Here's the STRICTLY LIMITED EDITION Unarmoured Chaaruch, set at £10,500 to unlock!

A mighty Gul-Gabrax Tain of ill repute, Chaaruch the Despoiler is armed with a nasty-looking war-sickle and halitosis. He's between 40mm and 45mm to the eye, stands on a 40mm base and is an Uncommon, Wild Warchief of the Fomoraic who Compels both Gul-Gabrax and Gabrax into battle!

Unarmoured Chaaruch can be shipped as part of Wave 0!

The sculpt for Unarmoured Chaaruch is already with us - Michael Anderson's work on Chaaruch the Despoiler from the Darklands: Savage Hordes project means he had to sculpt the unarmoured version first - and so he can be shipped as part of Wave 0; i.e., immediately after this project ends and we've received your payment.

    Here's the sculpt itself:

    STRICTLY LIMITED EDITION

Unarmoured Chaaruch is strictly limited edition and only 250 of him will ever be produced in resin. He will be presented in a numbered blister pack and will only be available for a short time after this project ends and only to backers of this project. We reserve the right to use him at shows or events, if we have any left out of the 250, but he'll never be released on our webstore or to the general public.

Increase your pledge by £20 (resin) to purchase Unarmoured Chaaruch!

I think he just needs a little dental work to get those teeth sharp and less...goat-like, and he'd be quite nice! Rob notes that little point sharp teeth probably wouldn't survive the molding process, so...it will be up to whoever buys him to do the custom work themselves!

(I'm glad I got the armored version that was offered as a mini-bundle a campaign or two back!)

    Also, concept time:

    Mierceday is here:

    Update #140

    Sep 30 2016
    Florus

We were wrong last time - this is the penultimate update for Darklands: First Edition II, as (despite Florus not really being a part of this project) we included him here anyway...

    This week we have:

    sculpt work in progress images from Juan Navarro Pérez;
    a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
    an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;

...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

    Let's begin!

There's just one miniature to show today, by Juan Navarro Pérez, and after that there's just the one. So that's one more update left for Darklands: First Edition II, everybody! Huzzah!

Florus is of course an Ancestor - a miniature created for a backer of one of our projects who is called a Descendant - but it's been worth the wait, because Sebastian Volkmann (known as Nergal on our projects) has joined John Longshore, Tomas Johansson, Max Schüte and Rick Boer to bring us a fantastic Friesian sorcerer!

Taught by the Gyptians (where his father traded - Frieisians are legendary merchants), who has returned to his homeland of northern Europe (Friesia) via Rome to escape the Sassanids, who are if nothing else a bloodthirsty lot. There he met his future wife, and his mystic abilities and insights into the flow of battle and the future itself have established him as a valued advisor, ensuring that he has gathered not a little wealth.

    Artwork by Danny Cruz

Seb wanted Danny Cruz to draw Florus from the very beginning and he didn't disappoint... we think he's going to be a superb miniature!

Florus is armed with a scalding-hot sword (obviously sorcerous) and a seax-dagger, and wears a fur cloak over leather armour and greaves. He also has a shield, slung over his back.

We think he looks very cool, especially as Florus looks like he's just about to Invoke a pretty mean invocation. We pity the recipient...!

    How can I purchase Florus?

Florus is available to purchase in resin from our webstore, in the Darklands: First Edition II category, at the special Kickstarter price of £10.00. You can also purchase him from the Darklands: Savage Hordes category in metal or resin, at £6.00 and £10.00 respectively.

    Sculpted by Juan Navarro Pérez

Juan has performed another wonder of miniature form with Florus!

We're anticipating Wave 15 for Florus delivery, as he's not done yet and Seb may request a few changes. We'll see!
    Who were the Friesians?

The Friesians resided in Friesland on the north-west coast of modern day Belgium, Netherlands and Germany, and their descendants still have their own identity and culture, much of which survives intact. The Friesian language is still the closest other language to English and, in fact, it is said that West Friesian can be understood by English speakers almost as if it were a dialect, and vice versa of course (although pretty much everyone in the Netherlands speaks English like a native).

Thus, as may be thought, the Friesians in 650AD are very similar to the Angles, Saxons and Jutes of that time, and many Friesians migrated to the British Isles during the Dark Ages along with those other invaders, just in scattered groups settling in various parts of the country. That being the case, and the Angles of Darklands being shape-changers, so are the Friesians. The Saxons and Jutes are shape-changers, also; although most Saxons (along with the Northumbraland Angles) have found the One God and denounce it, in 650AD.

So what do the Frisians change into? Well, Florus himself is not a shape-changer (although he may decide otherwise, later!), but many Friesians are, and they change into oxen - and of course cattle are very much a part of Friesian history. Thus, the Friesians become Weroxan, the singular being Weroxa. However, the Friesian shape-changers, unlike the other shape-changers of Mierce, Beornica and Eoforas, often do not choose when to change - they simply change when threatened.

The Friesians will eventually become a kindred in their own right at some point over the course of the next few years, but for now, we have Florus (thanks to Seb) and of course Rikkard (thanks to Rick Boer)!

    Update #63

    Sep 30 2016
    Sozzled, he was

It's a Friday, and there's an update here! Wowser!

    This week we have:

    sculpt work in progress updates from Juan Navarro Pérez;
    an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
    a list of what ships, when;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

    Let's go!

Again it's just the one miniature to show this week - from Juan Navarro Pérez - but it's welcome all the same!

Another of our Drunken Companions is nearing completion - Sozzled Caedoc of the Brythoniaid! No strange to wine, is our saintly abbott...

Sozzled Caedoc should be a Wave 15 shipment.

Eleven Infantry Hosts have shipped / are shipping!

Eleven infantry hosts from this project have been shipped - the Albainn Gairlom, Anglecynn Duguth, Brythoniaid Teulu, Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr, Érainn Tuanagh, Fomoraic Gabrax, Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor, Jute Wihtgār, Norse Holumann, Ysian Ax-Drune and Ysian Bow-Drune Infantry Hosts - as well as the individual miniatures within them.

If your hosts from this project haven't been shipped by now, that means you either:

    don't have enough shipment items to justify separate shipments or you don't have any shipment items at all;
or you have some resin miniatures on order which need to be cast.

Note that if you have purchased similar infantry hosts from other projects, such as Savage Hordes or Savage Hordes II, we will only ship what we can (as many of them are different) and they are not guaranteed to have been shipped with your items from this project - and again, it depends on your shipment items.

    Update #41

    Sep 30 2016
    Alix of Carn Bran

It's Friday! It's Mierceday! What more needs to be said?

    This week we have:

    sculpt work in progress updates from Stéphane Camosseto and Yannick Hennebo;
    an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
    a list of what ships, when;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

    Here we go...

We've a couple of miniatures to show this week, for the Anglecynn and the Sell-Swords, and they're both going to be brilliant!

The Ceorl (pronounced "Churl" as in church) are taking their sweet time but Stéphane Camosseto is on the case!

A warrior of the unit, Sweyn is looking very cool indeed. Stéphane's really good at the windy hair look!

We're dearly hoping that the Ceorl will be shipped this year, but it's unlikely. Say hello to Wave 15, Sweyn...

The lovely Alix of Carn Bran is our fantastic Beast-Master sell-sword, able to bring almost any monstrous beast to battle with her to fight for YOUR kindred. It's early days, but the shape is there..

Alix will hopefully make it into Wave 14, but she may be Wave 15. We'll see!

Wave 12 and 13 shipments have begun

Waves 12 and 13 have begun, but it's early days yet. We will try to get everything out as soon as we can, but there's a lot to ship - and as always we prioritise orders in date sequence; i.e., if you ordered early, you'll get your stuff sent early.

What we're saying, basically, is - please be patient! We are doing everything as fast as we can without compromising on quality.

Metals will ship at separate times

Something we have spectacularly failed to mention is that the metal versions of miniatures will ship at least one wave later than the resin versions; it takes a while to get them ready to be cast in metal.

Now that we're used to working with the external casters we can give you a little idea of what goes on. Usually, it takes at least a month to get the master metal moulds from sending the miniatures to them; and then we must check these masters for errors and then either amend or okay them. Then they go into production, which takes another month.

Whilst we are using a metal caster that are second to none in terms of quality, they are so busy it can take a while to get miniatures from them!

    Update #59

    Sep 30 2016
    Humans and Once-Humans and Beasts

    Update time, yay!

    Darklands: Savage Hordes II, yay!

    This week we have:

    sculpt work in progress updates from Allan Carrasco, Jason Hendricks, Juan Navarro Pérez and Valentin Zak;
    an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
    a list of what ships, when;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

    Here we go...

This week we have something for the Albainn thanks to Valentin Zak, Brythoniaid thanks to Juan Navarro Pérez, something for the Byzantii thanks to Allan Carrasco, something for the Érainn thanks to Valentin Zak, and something for the Ysians thanks to Jason Hendricks!

The fantastic Gnith is now a reality, thanks to Valentin Zak. He's a big lad, too - we've decided to make him a tall bugger, around 33mm to the eye, if only because we can.

He will definitely be a Wave 15 shipment...

The lovely Carys gets a scout's cloak to become Hunter Carys, all thanks to the ministrations of Juan Navarro Pérez!

She will be a Wave 15 shipment I would think.

The amazing Allan Carrasco has been working hard on Flail Onumo and the results, rather predictably, are amazing.

Get in! He'll be a Wave 15 shipment...

Ahhh, Valentin Zak. We love your work so much! Crístóir, everybody's favourite mad priest of the Irish, is everything we could have wished for and more.

Jason is cracking on with the Corruptors of Kraozon with Grung almost complete...

Grung is looking great now, all fleshed out and tonguing.

Just to remind you all what he will look like when he's done...

Grung should be a Wave 15 shipment!

    Skorpions!

    Update #8

    Oct 3 2016
£17,500 - Vul II Tykho, Skorpion Minor Vulgus

We've had an excellent weekend thanks to two stretch goals knocked over, so it's time to bring you another update to go for - at £17,500, it's two new Skorpion Minor to create the Vul II Tykho, Skorpion Minor Vulgus!

The two new Skorpions complement the already available Tykho, of course, to create the Vul II Tykho unit; you can pledge for the two new ones if you already have Tykho, or you can pledge for all three of them as a unit, or even Tykho on his own!

Increase your pledge by £60 ($78) to purchase three Skorpions; £50 ($65) to purchase two Skorpions; or £27 ($47) to purchase a single Skorpion.

    Six-Legged Tykho

As we're creating two new Skorpions we've decided to give Tykho six legs rather than the original four. If you're one of those who'd like to upgrade your existing Tykho to have six legs, they'll be available to "purchase" as an optional extra in the Kickstarter category at a price of £0 - all you'll have to do is stick them on. If the body needs changing a fair bit, we'll change that too, but we're hoping to ensure you'll only need the two new legs.

Good to hear about the Tykho Leg Fix here too, as I initially held off on purchasing him partly because of that - well done there Mierce!

    Update #9

    Oct 5 2016
    £25,000 - Beasts of Uthard, Brute-Beast Unit

With £15,000 just about upon us - and so Grachdu unlocked - it's time to bring you something else to aim for. There's plenty of time left in this project to get hold of the Beasts of Uthard, Brute-Beast Unit, set at £25,000 to unlock!

The Brute-Beasts are massive, disgusting monstrosities that are effectively larger, more powerful, nastier versions of the Brutes. Standing on 80mm bases, these guys will slaughter any battleline put in front of them, pretty much - and whilst they're Feral and so relatively uncontrollable, that means you just point and let them go...

Increase your pledge by £100 ($130) to purchase the Brute-Beast unit!

    Update #10

    Oct 5 2016
£16,250 - Dugrach, Cawrdraig of Dugadw

As we're just about to unlock Grachdu - the Cawrdraig banner bearer for the Brythoniaid - at £15,000, we thought we'd give you the opportunity to grab his alternate, Dugrach - at £16,250 to unlock!

Dugrach is of course an alternate of Grachdu, with his banner replaced by a double-handed war cleaver, rather like Aradae Mawr.

Grabbing Dugrach and the other two does of course mean you can field a unit of three different Cawrdraig warriors, and as it'll be a long while before another (very different) Cawrdraig is funded we highly recommend you do so!

Increase your pledge by £50 ($65) to purchase Dugrach on his own - or any of the other Cawrdraig on their own, too.

You can grab two Cawrdraig for £90 ($117) - any combination of the three, we suspect you'll use this for Grachdu and Dugrach - or you can purchase all three at a huge discount - £130 ($170), saving you over 30% from the RRP!

£28,750 - Hooded Ætulla, Wiglāca on Horse

With stretch goals smashed aplenty ahead, here's something a little closer to the current total to aim for - the strictly limited edition Hooded Ætulla, set at £28,750 to unlock!

Ætulla is a Wiglāca, a battle-waker, a sorcerer of the Jutes who can now ride into battle upon a horse to keep up with friendly units in need of his barrow lantern.

    STRICTLY LIMITED EDITION

Hooded Ætulla is a strictly limited edition and only 250 of him will ever be produced in resin and metal (so 250 of each type). He will be presented in a numbered blister pack and will only be available for a short time after this project ends and only to backers of this project.

We reserve the right to sell Hooded Ætulla at shows or events, if we have any left out of the 250, but he'll never be released on our webstore or to the general public.

The Jutes seem to have quickly become one of the most popular Kindreds...

    Automatically Appended Next Post:
Apparently there won't be a Kickstarter for 'new Darklands content' until around this time 2017.

There will probably be campaigns to fund starter sets and other 'new gamer friendly' stuff before then though.

And, sadly, it looks as if we just missed this one:

So, £70,450 between the two parts here, and a whole lot of fantastic new miniatures - get into it!

    Updates!

    Mostly Alternates

It's been a little while since the last update here, but our sculptors have been working away feverishly behind the scenes to bring us lots of Cool Stuff, mostly in the shape of alternates as 90% of what's left on this project are of that ilk!

    Let us begin!

We've stuff for the Brythoniaid and the Infernii courtesy of Roberto Chaudon, stuff for the the Ysians thanks to Andrew May, and a Sell-Sword from Yannick Hennebo this week!

The lovely Angedern has been worked on very nicely by Roberto Chaudon to become Dragonshield Angedern - he's now got a dragon skull for a shield and he's also got a one-handed cleaver!

Dragonshield Angedern should be a Wave 15 shipment.

Gannwg is the alternate warrior version of the Fireborn banner bearer, Naegannwg, and thanks to Roberto Chaudon he's looking spiffing!

Gannwg will be a Wave 15 shipment.

Also from Roberto Chaudon this week is Ubal, the alternate warrior version of the unit's banner bearer, Drubal!

Again, Ubal will be a Wave 15 shipment

    .

They've been a while in coming but Andrew May is cracking on with the Brutes of Hedroc, the Armoured Brute Unit... which should really be called the "Armoured Brutes with Double-Handed Weapons Unit", but that's a bit too much of a mouthful, even for us!

Gulguta is the unit's champion, and as Armoured Gulguta he gets a massive great axe-cleaver thing that looks rather nasty, and no mistake.

Armoured Gulguta - and we do think the rest of the unit - should be a Wave 15 shipment!

Ahhh, lovely. Yannick Hennebo has begun work on Sáthach on Horse, with the horse just about done and Sáthach herself next on the list...

Sáthach on Horse should be a Wave 15 shipment, we hope!

    Automatically Appended Next Post:
    Metal age!

    Erebius and the Gesith Host

Another update for Metal Age, and it's a cracking one thanks to the first pictures of the metal Gesith!

    Let's go!

Again it's just the one miniature to show this week - from Yannick Hennebo - but it's very welcome as it means we can now get the Demilegionarius Host into metal!

Yannick Hennebo has completed the bits necessary to turn Erebius on Behema into Erebius on Foot! This guy goes into the Demilegionarius Host, of course, and is the final remaining piece for that host to be put into metal.

Here's what he'll look like in the flesh...

Erebius, and the Demilegionarius Host, should be a Wave 15 shipment.

We've just received the first samples of the Anglecynn Gesith Starter Host this week, and they're looking superb. They've been passed to production with minor changes!

Gesith, Werwulfas, Penda, Æthelglyth and Wulfhere!

    The Gesith Unit in full

    The Werwulfas!

The Gesith Host will be a Wave 14/15 shipment, sort of inbetween those waves; we should get the production casts in November and so they'll be sent before Christmas, hopefully!

Twelve Infantry Hosts have shipped / are shipping!

Twelve infantry hosts from this project have been shipped - the Albainn Gairlom, Anglecynn Duguth, Brythoniaid Teulu, Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr, Érainn Tuanagh, Fomoraic Gabrax, Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor, Jute Wihtgār, Norse Holumann, Ysian Ax-Drune and Ysian Bow-Drune Infantry Hosts - as well as the individual miniatures within them. The twelfth, the Byzantii Legionarius, are in the process of being shipped now and that should be complete very soon.

The production casts of the Anglecynn Gesith Starter Host should be with us in November, at which point we'll get them sent!

The Atalantes Oplites Starter Host is sculpted and printed, and will be sent off to the metal casters next week.

The Byzantii Demilegionarius starter host is now sculpted, although the sculpts remaining (Nervor and Erebius) aren't with us yet; we should receive them shortly and as soon as we do they'll be off to the metal casters.

    We're getting there...

    Some stunning pieces here:

Humans, Goats, Spiders and a Lady

We have some amazing stuff to show you on this fine Mierceday, not least because Yannick Hennebo is back in sparkling form...

    Here we go...

We've some absolute cracker-jack miniatures to show you this week, for the Érainn (Valentin Zak), Fomoraic (Michael Anderson, technically), Jutes (Martin Lavat) and Sell-Swords (Yannick Hennebo)...

Valentin's been busy doing various characters for us, leaving just the Men of Ármhach, Maoibhanagh Unit for him from this project... and the wait is definitely worth it. Just look at these guys!

The champion of the unit is Eóghan, and a grizzled warrior he...

Don't call him a slaphead, as a pellet in the eye may hurt.

The first warrior of the unit, is Áine...

...she sets hearts-a-racing down the local welfare, I can tell you.

On the other hand, Sínead looks like she stands for no nonsense...

    ...except her own, of course!

Conall looks like he's a Newcastle United fan, by his attire...

...although the large belly is missing.

The final member of the unit is Nóra, of the "Bloody Nóra" variety.

The Maiobhanagh, we think, are some of Valentin Zak's finest works... and we can't wait to see how he tackles the Reivers for Savage Hordes III!

They should be a Wave 15 shipment (in resin), although the metal versions may appear a little later than that.

These won't though, as we've got the first samples of Gaalgar's Herd (along with Daachuch the Broken and Warrior Daachuch from Darklands: Savage Hordes II, which we slipped into the same mould) in metal. Rather predictably, they all look bloody amazing!

Gaalgar's Herd, plus Daachuch the Broken and Warrior Daachuch

These guys should be a Wave 14.5 shipment (i.e., November time) - as the samples have been approved for production.

Martin Lavat has found time to get Guliant's Web sorted, and so now you all have three lovely 80mm spiders to shudder at...

Guliant you've seen, of course, back on the original concept...

    ...a nasty looking creature!

Culgulc gets a repose on the legs and a rearing body...

...but is no less horrific to handle!

The lovely Angol gets himself some new teeth and is ready to strike!

...and yes, don't worry, any miscast leg points will be fixed too.

These guys will make it into Wave 15!

Prepare yourself... because Alix of Carn Bran is absolutely stunning.

Our fantastic Beast-Master sell-sword, able to bring almost any monstrous beast to battle with her to fight for YOUR kindred, is about complete - and we think she's Yannick Hennebo's finest work for us to date!

Alix didn't have any concept art for her rear side, so Yannick did her with a bare bottom before we could tell him what to do. He knows us far too well...

Alix will make it into Wave 15 now, but what a present for the new year...

...we're all going to have a nice lie down now. Ahem.

    Final update for today:

Humans, Hippos, Corruptors and a Drune

It's Friday! It's update time, yay!

    Here we go...

This week we have something for the Brythoniaid thanks to Juan Navarro Pérez, something for the Byzantii thanks to Allan Carrasco and something for the Ysians thanks to Jason Hendricks and Stéphane Simon!

Juan Navarro Pérez has completed work on Hunter Carys, and how lovely she be!

Hunter Carys will be a Wave 15 shipment.

Allan Carrasco has completed work on Flail Onumo and, of course, he looks Bloody Great.

Flail Onumo will be a Wave 15 shipment!

Both Daachuch the Broken and Warrior Daachuch are now in metal, as we slipped them into the Gaalgar's Herd mould!

They will be a Wave 15 shipment of course.

Ahhh, Stéphane... how the Ysians have missed you! Here's the spiky Kerazek, a warlord-level sorcerer for the piratical Drunes...

Kerazek will be a Wave 15 shipment of course.

The Corruptors of Kraozon are getting there with Fuggug and Grung complete, and Udo left to do...

We asked Jason to thicken up and elongate Grung's tongue, and the results are superb...

Grung, and the other Corruptors, should be a Wave 15 shipment we reckon.

Apparently there won't be a Kickstarter for 'new Darklands content' until around this time 2017.

So, £70,450 between the two parts here, and a whole lot of fantastic new miniatures - get into it!

That is a really impressive total! I am glad to hear they won't be making new Darklands content for a year as I was getting worried about how many horses they've got to get cracking on . Starter sets and the like are a great idea!

I don't know, gamers are fickle beasts and not being able to buy new content for a year (even if stuff from the KS is still chugging along) might impact those already shopping and playing

I guess they'll have to see how it goes

40 or so are "minor" alterations of already existing Miniatures. No idea what has been the Problem with those... But swapping weapons Arms and stuff is not THAT much work.

The Ongoing Mierce Miniatures Darklands New & Rumors Thread @ 2016/10/15 11:40:45

    Post by: OrlandotheTechnicoloured

The problem has apparently been getting sculptors to agree that minor conversions are not a lot of work (unless they are done at the same time as the original sculpting) and so not a lot of money

(and i'd guess top end sculptors with more commissions on offer than time to do them are going to find it more fun to do a full mini rather than a head swap)

so it's been a question of finding sculptors with low enough costs for the work in question, and the skills needed for mierce quality work (and ability to follow the art rather than just using it as inspiration) and time in their schedules to do the stuff

I'd guess its new kindreds stuff? I'm basically in the same boat waiting for some alts to be sculpted (armored Scecchus/Hrokr, melisune alts, archer Sthena, etc). I paid for split shipping and have pretty much everything else from my massive order though. A good chunk of which is still unpainted, so not like the rest would magically get done either lol.

I think I'm going to have to punch up the basing on the Atalantes constructs. The sculpts are fine, but given they are pretty much just all bronze w some corrosion/verdigris, they might look a little basic otherwise. Good thing I also have some kthones to muster in as slaves eventually.

Mierceday after sooo long! Look at that horsewoman, amazing!

    Brutal Alternates

After a short break in the land of the Kernowyon (that's the Cornish) I'm back with an update for the New Kindreds!

First up, here's a couple of photos of where I've been...

Carn Du, where Carrowek's castle once stood!

Din Tagell (Tintagel Castle, where King Arthur was conceived)

I can thoroughly recommend a visit to Kernow!

    Let us begin!

We've stuff for the Fomoraic and the Ysians thanks to Andrew May, and a Sell-Sword from Yannick Hennebo this week!

The Srónax are one of our best units of all, mainly because they were done by Allan Carrasco... but Andrew May has stepped up to the plate for the banner bearer conversion and we're pleased to say he looks awesome!

It's been a while in coming but here's the warrior conversion - Aaqko - for the Srónax banner bearer, Qqolaan...

We did have to tone down the axe a bit though...

Aaqko will be a Wave 15 shipment.

Tthe Brutes of Hedroc, the Armoured Brute Unit, is complete! Huzzah! All thanks to the hard work of Andrew May, of course...!

A quick reprise of Armoured Gulguta, completed last time:

    He looks fantastic!

Lugung was one of our very first miniatures, and his new incarnation - Armoured Lugung - looks fantastic...

The axe blade wasn't "sharp" enough for us, so we had Andrew sort that out...

We absolutely love the new head sack! Interesting fact: the bolt on the original sack shouldn't have been there - the sculptor interpreted the artwork incorrectly!

    A cracker, is Armoured Uggurd!

    Gratuitous top down shot:

    We love his new axe!

Perhaps the best of the original brutes, Muldo looks even better as Armoured Muldo...

I wouldn't like to get hit by that hammer...

With a new mattock and a bit of armour, Nung looks great as Armoured Nung!

The unit will be a Wave 15 shipment!

Yannick Hennebo has just about completed work on Sáthach on Horse, and she looks utterly brilliant!

Sáthach on Horse should be a Wave 15 shipment, we hope!

    Automatically Appended Next Post:
    Not Mutch...

It's Mierceday again! Not much to show this week, but progress all the same...

    Here we go...

Just the one miniature to show you this week, from Stéphane Camosseto, for the Anglecynn...

    The Ceorl Bowmen are progressing...

Mutch is looking great so far, as you can see...

We're hoping the Bowmen will be a Wave 15 shipment, but we'll see...

Valentin Zak is a machine. Wonderous...

    Humans and Drunes

It's Friday! It's update time, yay!

    Here we go...

This week we have something for the Brythoniaid and the Fomoraic thanks to Valentin Zak, and something for the Ysians thanks to Stéphane Simon!

Valentin Zak has begun workj on the adorable Nerys, and whilst we've requested a bit more chub, she's definitely getting there!

She should be a Wave 15 shipment...

Oooohhh... Hunter Kaarstan looks a bit forceful...

He should be a Wave 15 shipment, we hope.

We can't wait for Maari. Neither can you lot, we suspect...

Again, she should be a Wave 15 shipment!

Stéphane Simon has completed work on Kerazek, and he looks great! Warlord-level sorcerer for the Ysians? Yes please!

He should be a Wave 15 shipment.

Sáthach is either really small, or her horse is really big?

This happens form time to time with Mierce's mounted models. Uhtred on horse being one that comes to mind.

The one on foot feels relatively petite compared to other infantry models, so at least a bit is her being small.

Going by the look of Sathach she's a conversion on the on foot model,

so it's probably the case that the horse is large

Just a quick note that I pinged these guys for an order and had it taken care of (from Pacific time zone) in less than an hour from clicking to shipping update. Love Mierce.

One of the key things to keep in mind here, I think, is that IF your order included the metal version of any miniatures, that usually means a bit of a delay from when you think something will be/should be shipping.

    I think.

At least, that's been my experience!

Also, can someone please post a picture of some Atlantean Oplites infantry already?!?

They were set to 'Packing' for me, for the longest time, and then when my order got sent out, they didn't go with it, and slipped back a wave? I think I may have asked Rob to give me them in metal, but I've totally forgotten if I did. Either way, they're back to 'processing' now.

The metals do seem to take quite a bit longer though. I assumed it would only be a few months, but it seems like longer for some. I love getting the in progress pictures of the models being sculpted, but it would be nice to see pictures of the initial casts of figures too. We hadn't seen most of the atlantes until about a month ago. I still haven't seen an actual model of Kyros, or Thera, and they're on there way to me right now.

@Skullking - the reason you don't see photos of the casts straight away is really simple... we're all terrible photographers of infantry/small stuff in general, and it ends up looking awful!

Before I bother Mierce with this (unless they're still lurking the thread.) Has anyone got Cqaa in hand yet?

He seems due to go out on gen release but my KS based order for him is still processing, I've remembered to add shipping, so unless I've selected the wrong option on that, I think it seems to be in order.

Order 68794925832 if you are still here MM.

Rob answers pretty quickly via the 'contact us' part of his website too...just in case he's disappeared here!

He arrived in my most recent package which was only about 10-14 days ago so depending on when your ordered him I can easily see him being still in processing for some people

(I'm pretty sure it was the same day the PM opened for the appropriate KS)

    Ok, thanks.

I won't worry just yet, as it sounds like he's still going out, and I'm in no hurry, I just wanted to check that people hadn't got him weeks and weeks ago and my order had slipped through the cracks.

A new batch of releases for October

    October's Releases

It's been blimmin' ages since the last set of releases, so let's make amends for that with nineteen - count 'em! - nineteen whole releases for your purchasing pleasure! All told there's fifteen for Darklands and four for BaneLegions, a veritable plethora of miniatures of all shapes and sizes.

For BaneLegions, there's four Orcs on Wyverns - two fightery types, Buggrom and Grimbash, and two shamany types, Queefus and Shazham. For Darklands, there's Rēoc's Pack (comprising the unit and three individual miniatures) for the Anglecynn; the Snorting Toracx (again, a unit and three individual miniatures), Taai-ac the giant wolverine and Cqaa the enormous rhino-man for hte Fomoraic; the brutal Aggrakk, a huge croc-man, for the Khthones; Egil Dead Hand the Hrafnmann warchief, the amazing Birna on giant raven and Torleik the Troll for the Norse; and the quite foul Blunt-Claw on Goz-Horror for the Vras and Ysians!

Sadly, we've not been able to get them painted in time for release, but the miniatures themselves are fantastic as always - and just like the previous releases, thanks to us being busier than busy bees we've just not had the time to get the release art and descriptions done; but you can still see some good images of each miniature on the website of course.

    Rēoc's Pack, Frēawulf Unit

These guys are a great addition to your Anglecynn host for they're ideal to get around the flanks of your enemies. Rēoc's Pack - a unit of five Frēawulfas, or great wolves (comprising Rēoc himself, and two each of Brega and Hædo) - stand on 40mm bases and are easily the equal of a human. Dire wolves, basically! Sculpted by Benoît Cosse from the artwork by Danny Cruz.

    Taai-ac, Ferocious Cúgacx

Taai-ac is a mightily powerful giant wolverine as big as a very big bear, and that's why he stands on a 60mm base. A powerful beast with a ferocious temperament, Taai-ac was sculpted by Benoît Cosse from the artwork by Steve Pierce.

    Snorting Toracx, Toracx Unit

Another unit of powerful, ferocious beasts, the Snorting Toracx comprise three different miniatures, one of which - Báintaac - was released ages ago. Complete with the unit leader, Taachka, and the joyfully leaping Ckamaac, the Snorting Toracx won't hang around in the face of the enemy! Sculpted (again) by Benoît Cosse from the artwork by Stefan Kopinski and Dan Warren. These guys stand on 60mm bases of course!

    Cqaa, Thundering Srónox

Sculpted by the ever-amazing Allan Carrasco from the artwork by Danny Cruz, Cqaa is a huge rhino-man-beast even bigger than the Srónax, for he stands on an 80mm base and can easily overcome the most powerful of opponents. With that mighty horn, who could doubt it?

    Aggrakk, Krokokh Warrior

Not content with a unit of five croc-men (the Slaughterers), the Khthones get themselves a huge croc-man even bigger than those guys. Standing on an 80mm base and wielding a hammer bigger that could crush a human to pulp in seconds, Aggrakk is a great addition to your Khthones Krokodar host!

Birna, Dottir of Hrafnen on Fellhrafn

Time for some Norse, and where better to start than with the comely Birna? She's already released on foot, of course, but we've given her a fantastic mount to scout and flank and dive upon the enemy - an armoured Fellhrafn! Sculpted by Allan Carrasco (Birna and armour) and Roberto Chaudon (the Fellhrafn) from the artwork by Danny Cruz, Birna on Fellhrafn is a fantastic centrepiece for any winged Norse host!

    Egil Dead Hand, Hrafnmann Jarl

More winged Norse, this time for the Hrafnmenn, sculpted by Roberto Chaudon from the artwork by Dan Warren. Egil Dead Hand is a Hrafnmann Jarl, a leader of Hrafnmann, and has a little more equipment and bearing than the rest. Together with the Corpse Takers, the Hrafnmann Unit, the Norse can really fly...

    Torleik, Two Axe Troll Warrior

Staying on the ground this time, the long-awaited additions to the Trolls are trickling in. Torleik is the first new Troll to join the Norse for a good long while, but the wait has been worth it - it should be, thanks to being sculpted by Allan Carrasco from the artwork by Stef Kopinski! The unit of Two Axe Trolls should be with us soon, once Vörtun has been converted two wield two axes, of course.

    Blunt-Claw, Vras-Lord on Goz-Horror

We've saved the best until last (well, for Darklands). The zany craziness of Sam Lamont (artist) and Yannick Fusier (sculptor) have produced a miniature without compare - you'll find nothing else like Blunt-Claw on his Goz-Horror, complete with cooking utensils, full cauldron and draped dead bodies as well as horrible breath, nasty teeth and poky spear. There's so much going on with this miniature it's almost impossible to describe him! Suffice to say, any ratty army would benefit from this guy as its centrepiece...

    Grimbash, Orc Warlord on Wyvern

The first of four Orcs on Wyverns sculpted by Tim Prow (Orc) and Gary Morley (Wyvern armour), Grimbash is a bog-standard Orc Warlord with cleaver and shield, sat up on a mighty Wyvern (converted from the Brythoniaid Wyvern, Typhaggahw, of course).

Buggrom of Ulmo, Orc Warlord with Great Weapon on Wyvern

The second of four Orcs on Wyverns sculpted by Tim Prow (Orc) and Gary Morley (Wyvern armour), Buggrom is an Orc Warlord with great weapon, sat up on a mighty Wyvern (converted from the Brythoniaid Wyvern, Typhaggahw, of course).

    Shazham, Orc Shaman on Wyvern

The third of four Orcs on Wyverns sculpted by Tim Prow (Orc) and Gary Morley (Wyvern armour), Shazham is an Orc Shaman with staff, sat up on a mighty Wyvern (converted from the Brythoniaid Wyvern, Typhaggahw, of course).

Queefus, Bone Orc Shaman on Wyvern

The last of four Orcs on Wyverns sculpted by Tim Prow (Orc) and Gary Morley (Wyvern armour), Queefus is a mental Bone Orc Shaman with ceremonial skull and a nice hat, sat up on a mighty Wyvern (converted from the Brythoniaid Wyvern, Typhaggahw, of course).

All of the releases above were officially released on the 1st of October 2016, and so you can order them right now.

Watch out for the November releases, which should be unveiled soon!

Is the tail of Taai-ac a separate piece? Seems like it could make a pretty ferocious bear by just swapping that

    Gul-Gabrax and Ceorl

It's Mierceday again! Not much to show this week, but progress all the same...

    This week we have:
    •sculpt work in progress updates from Michael Anderson and Stéphane Camosseto;
    •an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
    •a list of what ships, when;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

    Here we go...

This week we have a Fomoraic miniature from Michael Anderson and some Anglecynn miniatures from Stéphane Camosseto!

Ahh, the lovely Chaaruch the Despoiler. Frankly, we think he's an amazing miniature. Behold him!

    He'll be a Wave 15 shipment!

The Ceorl Bowmen are definitely progressing, as you can see, thanks to Stéphane Camosseto's ministrations!

Lots of progress on Mutch, and he's looking great.

We're hoping the Bowmen will be a Wave 15 shipment, but we'll see...

Note that we've had to push the Gāst unit back to Wave 15 as it's not printed yet.

    Resin Miniatures

Here's an up to date list of what resin miniatures we think will be shipped when.
    • SHIPMENT WAVE 0: (complete): Existing miniatures
    • SHIPMENT WAVE 12 (June 2016): Hunters of Cait, Oghurithne Hunter Unit (Ungad - Agala - Wrad) - Bholg of Acaill, Fir Bholg Hurler Unit (Dougal - Feargal - Feargus) - Goatskull Aanchuth - Darkstone - Gaalgar's Herd, Gul-Gabrax Unit (Gaalgar - Raagar - Sraangar - Culgaar - Gongaar - Aalgar - Sraagar) - The Betrayers of Ceafor Barrow (Alfweald - Ealdred - Cenred - Wasere - Oscetyl) - The Sinners of Chessell Barrow (Ænna - Eglāf - Ceneric - Wassa - Octha)
    • SHIPMENT WAVE 13 (August 2016): Slinger Caitrín - Archer Mildryth
    • SHIPMENT WAVE 14 (October 2016): Crossbows of Dun Durn, Elbharu Unit (Galan - Wurgesta - Cimoith - Unen - Calorc) - No-Claw's Burrow, Spear-Vras Unit (No-Claw, Quick-Blade, Fat-Skin, Sharp-Fang, Scar-Belly, Quick-Kill)
    • SHIPMENT WAVE 15 (February 2017): Bowmen of Scīrbrōc, Ceorl Hunter Unit (Ceolric - Ardith - Sweyn - Mutch - Erwig) - Men of Ármhach, Maiobhanagh Unit (Eóghan - Áine - Sínead - Conall - Nóra) - Chaaruch the Despoiler - The Hateful of Mordain Grave, Gāst Unit (Anlāf - Grændal - Wadæc) - Gukkok's Blades, Sávrar Unit (Gukkok - Kliss - Esko - Ikki - Brakka - Kikik - Skokk) - No-Claw's Burrow, Spear-Vras Unit (Fat-Tail) - Alix of Carn Bran

Items in bold will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as we have the sculpt; items in italics are in progress and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the sculpt or 3d print. Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that wave, but may not.

    Metal Miniatures

Here's an up to date list of what metal miniatures we think will be shipped when.
    • SHIPMENT WAVE 14.5 (November 2016): Daachuch the Broken - Warrior Daachuch - Gaalgar's Herd, Gul-Gabrax Unit (Gaalgar - Raagar - Sraangar - Culgaar - Gongaar - Aalgar - Sraagar)
    • SHIPMENT WAVE 15 (February 2017): Crossbows of Dun Durn, Elbharu Unit (Galan - Wurgesta - Cimoith - Unen - Calorc) - Hunters of Cait, Oghurithne Hunter Unit (Ungad - Agala - Wrad) - Slinger Caitrín - Men of Ármhach, Maiobhanagh Unit (Eóghan - Áine - Sínead - Conall - Nóra) - Goatskull Aanchuth - The Betrayers of Ceafor Barrow (Alfweald - Ealdred - Cenred - Wasere - Oscetyl) - The Sinners of Chessell Barrow (Ænna - Eglāf - Ceneric - Wassa - Octha - Archer Mildryth - No-Claw's Burrow, Spear-Vras Unit (No-Claw, Quick-Blade, Fat-Skin, Sharp-Fang, Scar-Belly, Quick-Kill, Fat-Tail) - Alix of Carn Bran
    • SHIPMENT WAVE 16 (April 2017): Bowmen of Scīrbrōc, Ceorl Hunter Unit (Ceolric - Ardith - Sweyn - Mutch - Erwig) - Chaaruch the Despoiler

Items in bold will DEFINITELY be sent in that wave as they are in production with the metal casters.

Items in bold italics denote those that have been produced in sample form, and are just awaiting production versions after any corrections.

Items in italics are in mould-making progress (as we have all of the miniatures required for that host) and should make it into that wave, but we don't yet have the first samples.

Items not in bold or in italics may still make it into that wave, but may not.

You can still purchase everything from this project until the following deadlines:
    • Wave 12 (gone): August 2nd, 2016
    • Wave 13 (gone): September 13th, 2016
    • Wave 14: November 21st, 2016
    • Individual Miniatures: until they ship!

Keep watching this list as it may well change - and if you have any issues with the above timings, please let us know and we may well be able to push the deadline back a little for you.

We reserve the right to change any of the above dates without notice.

Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for Darklands: Savage Hordes! Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear.

    New Sculpts:
    • MICHAEL ANDERSON: Michael has completed work on Chaaruch the Despoiler, and that concludes his work for us on this project!
    • STÉPHANE CAMOSSETO: Stéphane has begun sculpting the Freemen of Scīrbrōc, Bowmen of Scīrbrōc and he'll be doing Sigewulf's Pack.
    • BENOÎT COSSE: The lovely Benoît has almost finished sculpting No-Claw's Burrow with just Fat-Tail left to do. He's also begun work on the Gukkok's Blades, Sávrar Unit and then after those it's Gukk's Javelins and the Firekin!
    • MARTIN LAVAT: Martin's completed Guliant's Web, and we'll give him Archer Birna as well as the Hrafnar of Stafangr, the Hrafnen Bowmen and the Storm of Khthon.
    • YANNICK HENNEBO: Yannick has completed Alix of Carn Bran and then its Garric and the Auxilia Ballistarius.

Not many sculpts or alterations for this project - or at least, on top of those needed to get the units sorted from previous projects.

We thought this would be a good idea, as things are cracking on - a list of completed sculpts, in kindred order! Completed sculpts are in bold; in progress sculpts are in italics.

    New Sculpts:

    Nerys, Kaarstan and Maari

We have an update here on Darklands: Savage Hordes II, and it's a good 'un...

    This week we have:
    •sculpt work in progress updates from Valentin Zak;
    •an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
    •a list of what ships, when;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

    Here we go...

This week we have something for the Brythoniaid and the Fomoraic thanks to Valentin Zak!

The awesome Nerys is everything we wished for and then some. She's done, and bloody awesome!

She will be a Wave 15 shipment!

Valentin keeps up the good work with Hunter Kaarstan, who is looking amazing.

He should be a Wave 15 shipment, we hope.

Once again Valentin shows he is one of our best sculptors, especially of infantry. Maari is superb. That is all.

She should be a Wave 15 shipment... she only needs her hair.

Saairen Maari will of course appear after we've cast Maari and sent her back to Valentin.

    Wave 0 has shipped

Wave 0 - the existing miniatures from this project - has now shipped, unless you did not purchase an "Existing Items shipment item" of course.

There's not much else to say here, except - there's a while to go before the first miniatures are shipped from this project, so keep watching the updates to see what will make it into that first Wave.

Whilst we are using metal casters that are second to none in terms of quality, they are so busy it can take a while to get miniatures from them!

    Resin Miniatures

Here's an up to date list of what resin miniatures we think will be shipped when.
    • SHIPMENT WAVE 0: (completed): Existing miniatures
    • SHIPMENT WAVE 13 (August 2016): Haraald - Aastrid

Here's an up to date list of what metal miniatures we think will be shipped when.
    • SHIPMENT WAVE 16 (April 2017): Gnith - Ogmops - Sunspear Kyros - Toxotes Thera - Hunter Carys - Nerys - Aidan - Crístóir - Haraald - Aastrid - Daachuch the Broken - Warrior Daachuch - Auga - Kerazek

    • Individual Miniatures: until they ship!

Keep watching this list as it may well change - and if you have any issues with the above timings, please let us know and we may well be able to push the deadline back a little for you.

We reserve the right to change any of the above dates without notice.

Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for Darklands: Savage Hordes! Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear.

    New Sculpts:
    • ROBERTO CHAUDON: We're going to give Roberto the Cocneidr Unit, the Cogwyfern Unit and Galon Garreg...
    • BENOÎT COSSE: He'll have Scab-Face and Warrior Eikovra to sculpt!
    • DIDIER FANCAGNE: We're giving him Daghda Lúg.
    • YANNICK FUSIER: Yannick has completed sculpting the Coughing Walvax, and then it's the Barking Walvax... oh, and Golgog Goat-Eater.
    • JASON HENDRICKS: A newcomer to our range, Jason has begun sculpting the Corruptors of Kraozon with Fuggug and Grung done and Udo to go, and after those it's Thurgis.
    • YANNICK HENNEBO: Yannick's completed Helmed Caitrín and Helmed Mildryth, but even after that he's got Grima, the Saethwr, the Helwr, Vulcanus and Malus. Oh, and Armoured Æthelglyth, Helmed Garric, Sairen Rose, Sagitta Quintus and Rowena.
    • MARTIN LAVAT: We're giving Martin the Rogue-Drunes, Bow-Annik, the Hound-Aberrants and Sickle-Hedroc. We'll probably get him to do Medusel, Klóstiss and Archer Naraa as well.
    • DUNCAN LOUCA: He'll be digitally sculpting the Pyrokolossos Unit and the Toxokolossos Unit!
    • ERNST VEINGART: We've taken the Auxilia, Auxilia Sagittarii and Auxilia Bestiarius, as well as Gaius Galerius in both forms, away from Yannick Hennebo - and Ernst will sculpt them!
    • JIN WEI: Jin has sculpted Toxotes Thera and then he will sculpt the Toxotes, the Iliotoxotes and Baltazar.
    • VALENTIN ZAK: Valentin has completed Aidan, Gnith, Crístóir and Nerys... and has almost completed Hunter Kaarstan and Maari. He's also doing the Reiver unit and the Reiver Hunter unit, as well as Kaarstan and Saairen Maari!

Not many sculpts or alterations for this project - or at least, on top of those needed to get the units sorted from previous projects.

We thought this would be a good idea, as things are cracking on - a list of completed sculpts, in kindred order! Completed sculpts are in bold; in progress sculpts are in italics.

Then to answer you quickly (I utilize google translate) on Taai-ac. The figure is composed of the following parts: the body which integrates a front leg and a hind leg, the hind leg and front remaining, the head in two parts with the top and bottom of the jaw. So the tail is integrated into the body.

But good as it is hair, it is surely what carves the most easily. You just have to reduce the size (in French it really gives a weird sense ...)

Oh no, lol, I'm not Benoît Cosse, I jute ordered the miniature via the kickstarter. And in passing I must say that the transitions between the parts on TAAI-AC are really impressive (this is not always the case on others miniatures of their range).

    Hey guys,
I've been chatting to Roberto Chaudon...
It seems there's been a change of heart at ol' mierce town, and he's not being given any more work...
There are a dozen or so items that have no assigned sculptor, so it's not for lack of work.
Personally, i think Roberto is a master sculptor, who also produces work quickly and to a very high standard. His Kthones are vastly superior (IMHO) to Bennoit's, for example.
I think it's more than Rob's alluded to "expense", Dan Cockersell is expensive too, but he gets commissions.

Just want to see what you guys think...I'm a little aggrieved that Mierce have dropped such a fine talent.

It's a shame? They're still working with great sculptors and are obviously free to hire who they like so it's hard to be upset about it as a frequent Mierce customer.

Really, it's up to Rob to pick and choose. Wonderful that he can choose from the best and isn't scraping the bottom of the barrel.

That's a bummer, Roberto Chaudon's sculpts have often been insta-buys for me! I bought a ton of his Savrar, but have held off on the units which he didn't sculpt.

Still, with Mierce sucking up all the talent from all over the planet, maybe it will give another company a chance at his services

I'm not quite sure where you've got "no more Roberto Chaudon" from, because Roberto's told me that's not what he said to you.

I can confirm that we will be using Roberto again in the future.

    Cheers

    Hi everybody !
Well I'm here to clarify from my side, This is what I told to yxalitis about it: "I'm not sure about Mierce, Rob told me there isn't anything to sculpt for me this year so only he knows."
Rob knows I'm always open to sculpt something for Mierce Miniatures (you should know that if you have visited my blog). So I'm looking forward for 2017!
    Cheers

Thanks so much for posting here, Roberto! Always tricky playing the "telephone game" as we say in English . I do look forward to anything you do in the future for Mierce Miniatures!

Unrelated to all this, I went ahead and snagged Chaaruch the Despoiler for my next shipment... the armored version looked great and I couldn't resist

I confirm that I have been waiting for my helmed ophios for two years. When I contacted them for information, they told me that they were looking for a sculptor to do so, but they could not afford to give it to a sculptor too expensive (see previous quotes).

In fact it makes me worry that now for the miniatures that remain and have actually been less profitable in number of order, they go looking for sculptors more "low cost" and it makes me fear on rendering. I was disappointed, for example, by Tim Prow who had a mission to make alterations of existing miniatures. I fear for my remaining figurines :p .... : /

One of the big reasons we buy (way too many) mierce sculpts is mostly for its *gets some air* AMAZING SCULPTORS.

Well, let's hope that Roberto gets some of those "no sculptors assigned" works.
    AS per the KS update:

"UNKNOWN: We don't know who'll be doing Selkilias, Thuulac, the Scuttling Núcranca or Scethæn yet."

    ROBERTO!

    LoL

Indeed! I hope they stick with the proven ones, such as Roberto Chaudon! In my world, he would be doing 50% of all the commissions.

Agreed - More Roberto is A Very Good Thing!

@Yxalitis - Even if I decided never to give Roberto anything ever again, which I am sorely tempted to do just to annoy you, that is my choice as, of course, I commission the sculpts. Roberto doesn't decide if he gets a commission from us - I do.

Well I left it at that on the KS.

It's Rob's choice who to give commissions to, just as it's my choice whose miniatures I buy.
Roberto is a perfect example of the quality sculptors whose work I am happy to pay Mierce's top-shelf prices for.

I'm not a gamer, I don't HAVE To buy an army that fits in with the ruleset, so I pick and choose based solely on the quality of the sculpt.
But as long as the backers with deep pockets pick up anything and everything, I guess I cans ee Rob's point, business is business.

I just don't want to see a gradual slide down in quality when the financial returns start to outweigh the artistry and passion that started the endeavour.
I'm, not saying that's happening here, or happening yet, but we only have to look at what has happened before, Rackham, and of course GW.

Once I see that the higher quality sculptoirs are getting less work "because they are expensive" I start to worry.

    That's it in a nutshell.

Ultimately, we don't know all of the info, which of course leads us to speculate.

This stinks, but, unfortunately, it is what it is.

Mierce's Darklands line made its name based on the quality of the sculpts though, so I'm hopeful that this will continue...

I totally agree with this, as I've, too, noticed that some of the (in my view, mind you!) more talented traditional sculptors are getting less and less commisisons, while more and more are being moved over to the 3d-sculptors. Someone like Roberto Chaudon, who pretty much has been with Mierce and Darklands from the start, has helped them to build their brand to what it is today. And because of that, and that he is damned talented, I hope they keep feeding him with commissions. He has sculpted some of my absolute favorite sculpts of the range (the tiny lizards are among those for sure!).

Finally got a chance to look over my latest KS shipment tonight: Jutes and Trolls. The "smaller" resin models like the Trolls really show off how well Mierce can do resin casting. Aside from a quick soap wash, I have no mold lines to cleanup. None of the occasional problems that the larger models get (looking at you Krull).

Got my first squad of Jute Wihtgār skeletons. I am so, so happy I asked to switch them to metal. The ankles on the skeletons make my Necron legs look sturdy.
I got sent an extra skeleton torso in resin by mistake, and if I were to play any games with it, I'd feel worried about breaking the resin at the ankles. Same relief with the pewter spears. Detail wise, the metal versions have probably 95% of the level of details that the resin model. The metal versions are really fantastic casts.
