Great arbites, love the gold!

The Arbites sculpts still hold up today, and you have done a smashing job on them. Is there any secret to how you get such a matte look to them?

I continue to be amazed at how fast you crank these out. Pit slaves look great.

Arbites turned out great. And now Pit Slaves. One of my favorites! They look great,too. Seriously love all the old Necromunda stuff.

They look menacing with their huge weapons! Great job!

Really cool paintjob on the pit slaves and that's what you call a buzz saw. My PenEngine is jealous

Due to shipping delays, my plans for a Delaques for a fifth original gang are on hold. So to meet the Unofficial Monthly Painting Competition, I will use the Pit Slaves and add three Spryers.

The Spyres are truly old school. I know you will do a great job on them. The pit slave with the large saw was one I really wanted to get. I was hoping to convert a Ard boy for my Orks with that one. The work you do brings alot of memories back. Thank you

Pointer, look up the user BigWaaagh and his for sale thread, he has a load of Pit Slave lots in their blister packs and I think each pack has three weapons for two models, so you just have him find one with the buzz saw. Then you will have two complete Pit Slaves and a buzz saw for your Ard boy.

I hadn’t noticed the streaks on the squares when you last posted. They add a great bit of texture to the board. It’ll look great amongst your collection of terrain

Still looks fantastic, the variations with the amount of rust and slight color differences make that table look more realistic in my mind.

Sheesh I dont check in and you have all this great stuff your working. I never played Necromunda but always like the idea of the Spyrers. Delaques really have that matrix look to them. Nice work as usual Cap!

Really impressive output here, Captain Brown. I didn’t realize you were going to paint every single Necromunda model from the original range! I am loving the classic color paint schemes. I hope you do a photo shoot of the entire collection when you finish. Maybe get some friends together for an epic old school campaign using these gangs.

Great start for the sneaky boys. Love the 3-D glasses on the Heavy.

Nice work on the delaques. I haven't seen a lot of them with black coats before and it is a cool alternative to the regular brown. I always used to play delaques as well and I also have the old school models around somewhere. Might need to dig em up and strip em down soon

One day, one day...a couple of players who said they had lost/gotten rid of their old gangs have suddenly found them...so at some point there will be a massive gang war.

However, before I finish the next five Delaques...I am starting another project.

One of my buddies gave me three empty 3D printer reels. With epoxy, wood, straws, railway ties, and other assorted bits:



The ladders are a little hard to see, but there are four for each level so lots of access, just like the original cardboard terrain.

I even found a use for the Granny Grating (which really needs something to sit in for the epoxy to hold it permanently in place. Going to paint this shortly.

Totally concur with Arakasi...your ability to to visualise how good every day junk can be turned into great scenery is amazing. 99% of people would have just turfed that lot into the bin.

Tower is work of industrial art Cap. Your always coming up with ways to use bits and bobs of unlikely materials to make cool stuff.

Another nice one Capt Brown. The weathering on the ladder is very good - both a realistic place for damage to occur over time, and a great way to make the ladder visually distinct on the piece.

They look the business! Fantastic work on the whole gang. Delaque were always a tough gang to beat with their stealth skills. Or maybe it was just my mate who swear never lost a game in his life!

Baldies are looking great. I’d comment more often, but usually on my work computer now a days and half of the pictures from Dakkadakka get blocked . Keep up the good work.

I found that a Pringles tube fitted nicely down the inside of the original card one of these. It made for a more closed off but if terrain and didn’t affect the tendency to fall from it too much as the walkways were so narrow to begin with and you could always fall off the other side. Looking forward to seeing this painted. Is it going to be green?

Yes, I made the well holes smaller than the original to provide more platform space. I will also be running a large pipe down the center like the last one I built.

However the tower painting is delayed due to the need to finish some models for the Unofficial Monthly Painting Challenge. Sadly, as none of the Zombies or other Necromunda plague victims have arrived...I am doing a mixture of unfinished metal figures. First two completed are the Delaque Juve and a heavily converted Heavy (model should have carried a Heavy Stubber, but it was missing the backpack and weapon which included the hands).

Great stuff there. The backup lasgun for when the flamer inevitably runs dry, and a pair of stub pistols on the juve that look way more impressive than they should. Necromunda will always be awesome.

The flamer conversion ended up using Ork Slugga and hands from Gorka Morka, some white stuff to make the satchel, telephone wire, Imperial guard lasgun, flamer and canister,

The old school Necro minis are nice, especially those proper Delaques.

I also appreciate the Lasgun strapped to the flamer guy's backpack, as that's exactly what the real Delaque Flamer mini had.

I obtained him through a purchase from a member of Dakka.

So this is the second time I have built the three legged tower (mainly to save plastic bulkheads so I can build another tower). I have learned from the previous three about various improvements...while reducing some of the raised detail that caused too much wobbly model syndrome. Making certain their is a hatch cover beside every ladder, etc. I still will add some garbage to the bottom where it would collect near the vent hole and bulkheads, but that is for later.

The tower looks awesome CB! I spy a fee Ork glyphs on the goliaths, the HB seems to have the same one as the axe. Maybe they nabbed the weapons off the last Orks that came through the underhive?

The tower looks pretty sweet. It reminds me a lot of the sort of undercity from Final Fantasy VII which has a lot of overlap with certain elements of 40k now that I think about it.

Someone was concerned enough about the gaps to mark the floor as a hazard, but not to put some fencing up - a very 40k attitude, where life is cheap.

I wonder if the shield/barrier pieces from some of the Sector Mechanicus kits could be persuaded to fit on there as clip-on additions for variety - might need to adjust how much room there is in the clips at the bottom of each.

Love the classic tower - a real blast from the past! Hazard stripes look great, but no doubt that won't stop everyone falling off the edges (which always seems to happen to my gangers... sigh)

Thanks Dysartes, I do not have any loose Sector Mechanicus railings, but the ones I used on the Plasma Regulators needed a much thicker connection.

I love that old hand flamer! Such a cool weapon. I say go for the same green on the van Saar, it’s era appropriate and looks really cool

I always thought those scum minis were sculpted to be like sad, outcasts from the various houses. This was a Van Saar guy who at one point had become an outlaw. Then there was a Goliath fella and a Delaque and an Orlock who all had similar odd-man-out vibes. I always wanted to see an Escher and a Cawdor version. They’re all quite characterful looking minis.

But now you’ve got me wondering... is there a shop selling fake beards in the underhive and a Van Saar ganger in his underwear in the alley round the corner?

So the Van Saars will have to wait, as another gang has captured my attention. These models recently came to me from one of my gaming group. He insists that he received them from me when he joined up to play in our first Necromunda Campaign.They needed some repairs, TLC, color changes, and highlights. One is a Scaly and two are very old Marauder Ash Wastes gangers from Confrontation.

I've spent a while trying to figure out what that pyro reminds me of... His hair looks a lot like Slaines hair from some of (older) 2000 AD comics...

That scaly is super. Really excellent work. Almost straight out of a comic book. Those other two are new to me and that’s a big surprise as i’ve a pretty extensive original Necromunda collection myself.

That Scaly has come out really well, Cap'n - you can tell the other two gangers are an older vintage, but they still look respectable.

Shame that the Van Saars are delayed, but it’s great that you’re treating us to some Scavy’s. The others are right, the grey Scaly came out great

The hair is glorious on that mini, as is the scaly, it's a shame gangs like this aren't in the new necromunda, the newer models look a little too 'clean'. I guess they just don't have that 80s grungey look.

Looks like that scaly has escaped straight out the New York sewers.

Confrontation era gangers? That rules. They really capture the look of the art in those WD Confrontation articles.

Lovely old models there Cap - I am sure I have a few knocking around in the 'primed but not painted' pile, and nice to see some actually painted for inspiration!

Thanks theCrowe, the reason the two Ash Wastes gangers look so different is that they were Marauder miniatures (the company GW bought shortly thereafter). Marauder made figures for GW games that GW had not yet produced themselves, like Dark Elves, Dwarves, etc. You can find the under Stuff of Legends.

Love those ash waste guys, they got tons of character

Riiiiiight, some of the Confrontation guys came with that bare arm sprue. At least the bounty hunters did. I think the Venators (also bounty hunters, weird) were all cast with arms. Probably pretty hard to find these days.

That Scaly is such an iconic model for that gang. Great to see.

Cool minis and I really love the first scaly and immediately had MCU Korg vibes. And funny seeing the second one, while the first one looks really stoney, the second one sure lives up to the scaly name.

Wow, I have not seen those models in decades. It’s really great to see them painted up and getting some love. So much weird and wonderful flavor in the details of these models.

Thanks The Riddle of Steel, only challenge is that the Ash Waste models from Marauder have weapons like Las Pistols and Chain Swords that are not available to Scavies.

Next up is another two Confrontation Ash Waste miniatures that were GW's prequel to Necromunda. Now I did find a plastic left arm from that period, but the positioning was not very useful. So I made the figure reloading their musket with the ram rod in the left hand. The other model has an original plastic Orlock Shotgun arm, the other is a Kroot arm with human hand hold a knife.

Excellent work on the tower. Your paint job makes it look like it has been around for a 100 years. Great painting on all your old gangs. I especially like the Scaveies. Definitely brings back alot of memories. Keep up all your efforts.

The Scavy gang members of various eras are looking good (well as "good" as those with a face only a mother could love can).

The Scaly is my favourite though, such a great classic mini that I have not thought about in a very long time.

Awesome minis, I really like the teeth gas masks. It's a shame GW didn't make that "outcasts" gang into something more like the scavs.

Scavvies look good. The old Confrontation Era minis mix just fine with the Scalies.

Lovely job on those scavvies, they were a real favourite of mine back in the day, no idea what happened to mine after they got conscripted into the 'stealer cult I had back then.

Definitely remember those plastic arms they had, they were a revelation - well scaled plastic arms with musclature, I stockpiled enough that I know there must still be some buried somewhere in my room of shame

Looking good, Cap'n. Although in this case good means rag-tag, grimy, mutated and diseased. Well done.

I think Valois was one of the few special characters I never did get probably because I gathered up my Scavvies much later on.

Your collection is mighty. Very rag-tag grab bag of possibly edible gang members.

Possible house rules for the tongue.

Any fumbles rolled by the opponent count double as they’re so distracted by it.

Any enemy mini taken down in H2H is not taken OOA immediately if you choose to lick your opponent instead. A licked opponent will be treated as down as normal but if they gain any advances as a result of this game they roll on the scavvy advance table instead! (Or test for zombie plague as if bitten by zombies)

Wow, there were so many Scavvi/mutant/zombie/ash wastes minis. I thought I just had a big gaggle of a gang but it turns out I didn’t have the half of them.

I always felt Scavvies rules were a touch OP but they’d make for a good “House” force if you’re running a campaign and you need a gang to drop in to hassle a player who is getting too far out in front or to leave some easy bounty in the path of a straggling player. Or just to inject a little zombie plague into the mix. And of course no one gets a vote if it’s the campaign arbitrator doing the licking.

Nice group there, Cap'n - and, going by Stuff of Legends, they're all OG Scavvies this time...

Well from the seventeen painted Scavies, seven are old Confrontation (precursor to Necromunda) or Marauder Ash Wastes gangers (made by Marauder to fill out the Confrontation range). I used them to fill out the ranks, as Scavies need a lot of bodies to harass a regular gang. Our group member who played them had converted six of them into mutants...which made up the points, but left him short on numbers for what really is a hoard gang. Well those conversions were are removed when they went into the Simple Green bath, and I picked up some Necromunda Scavies to fill out the ranks.

I don’t think anyone would begrudge you a few period appropriate WFB Undead zombies.
The 90s Gary Morley collection for example with a bit of GS necromundafication where possible.

Karloth has such a nasty looking s**t-piece old las pistol. You know it doesn’t actually work, he just points it at people because they’re scared of guns and he likes the taste of their fear.

He’s also sucked those zombies dry but not gained any of the colour. Lots of spooky pale faces going on. Great job as always.

His gun always looked so cool. I think in-game it was just a las-pistol with a dot sight. Not the most awe-inspiring weapon. Still a great mini.

I think I had a few zombies (maybe one with a bone rather than metal) so might have some spares. They fit into the 'precious old metal' (so never going to be given away) category, though also into the 'I'm never going to get around to these and it would be good for them go to a well painted home' category... I also don't know where they are. If I come across them you might get lucky (but I wouldn't hold my breath if I was you!)

Now for something different...this little guy was in the Scavy lot, but he was a GorkaMorka Diga Shaman. He was missing a weapon so I replaced it with a smaller auto-pistol. He can easily stand in as a Wyrd.

Ah CB they are glorious. That's such a wonderful colour scheme. Love the flames on the robes. Great shading on the flesh of that muscle bound lad with the flamer!

Thanks Dysartes, done on purpose, as these are fanatics who do not study anything other than destroying those not accepted by the Imperial Cult...so getting the colors wrong on their robes is just par for the course. If you check out my Sisters of Battle painting log you will see flames the right way.

These turned out really well. Especially the stubber has a well worn and well kept look about it. How did you achieve that if i may ask.

They look brilliant CB. The wings on the cherubs and the luscious blonde hair are particular highlights.

Like NotOnline says, the worn metal on the stubber is fantastic. Such a realistic effect.

The gun barrel was just a gunmetal grey, then a series of lighter drybrushings of the same color with a little bit of silver added...more each drybrush.

Made from an old printer, cardboard cut out frames, granny grating, pill bottles, plastic card, phone wire, plastic barrels, some other electrical bits, HO scale railroad tracks, plastic hair curlers, metal L brackets, juice lids, some crafter cogs, plastic straws, and other bits and bobs.











All reinforced to prevent easy damage from regular play.

Simply awesome. The stubber fits in very well.

They look fantastic, the green mohawks are such a good contrast to the rest of the gang, really pop out.

It also doesn't take paint super-duper well. At least, if you're doing rust effects and chipping medium, when you rub off the medium, it rubs off all the layers of paint and the primer. One more detail about granny grating.

Love the terrain. Graffiti is always a nice touch.

So for the bi-monthly League of Extraordinary Riveters I have started two scratch-built Plasma Regulators (or something similar with Plasma) to fit the theme of "The Heat is On!"

I have started by collecting these parts.

Put them together with some extra chip board parts for doors (with staples for handles) and other little details.







There is a difference in height between the two gift boxes, so I used different PVC 90 degree pieces. Extras from the ladders for the shorter gift box became a window.

Looks cracking CB. I know you'll paint it up to look a bit grimmer and darker, but I have to say I love the nice pinks and polka dots! Great use of parts, looking forward to the finish.

Those kids look perfect for plasma and the stripes lid on on of the boxes might be a perfect template for hazard stripes too!

Looks great painted, Cap.

Might benefit from a couple of notes or posters at some point, but otherwise I really like the utilitarian look of it all. Very similar to various heating stations around where I grew up.

Great building and love the classic necromunda scum models above

I’d imagine the Mechanicum would want to keep their structures in good condition even on Necromunda! The lids (not kids ) work really well as plasma coils too

That building looks pretty. You should have left the polka dots the box originally had. But seriously, You have great ideas and bring them to very solid conclusion.

Certainly,
1) just go to Walmart or a Dollar store and purchase two wooden rulers.
2) remove any plastic or rubber and turn them upside down (so that the flat bottom is now the floor of the bridge) and glue them together with wood glue on the long side.
3) then I placed a fine mesh over the entire platform (glue to it with epoxy or superglue).
4) make add some rails with cardboard or chipboard or popsicle sticks and glue to the sides of the rulers.
5) then use some popsicle sticks and glue them to the middle join of the rulers (this is the former top of the ruler), this is to reinforce the strength of the two rulers.
6) then a few more popsicles are glued to the bottom sides of the rails and the rulers...again this is to make the bridge stronger.
7) apply your paint.

It comes with holes already built into the design for either plastic joins or magnets. I went for plastic as I am going to mount it on pressboard...although there was a lack of plugs included. All those little white dots in my previous post are home made plugs as the kit did not have enough.

First of the three portions I glued together and mounted on a base. I added some flying buttresses (Made by one of the gamers in my group) as there is no longer a roof.

The started a ruined floor made from chipboard.


More to come as I do sections two and three.

You must have a warehouse somewhere full of terrain. Every time I turn around you have a new project going.
The trees look good, the bridges look good.
This new Cathedral looks cool.

Good to see that kit on this site. I'm currently working on the Kazumi temple and once done I'll tackle my own cathedral set.

Another two mounted on a new base, which I have cut in two so that it can be a single piece or split in two. Then I added tiles. Next is the rubble and the remnants of the roof.

I’m loving all the necromunda goodness. It’s great to see the original terrain given some new life.

Starting the rubble and added some angled supports for the missing roof (as the kit does not have one). I am also not going to add any ledges, there five pieces that came with the kit really only fit in certain orientations and I wanted to make these builds game board friendly...although there are two corners that are larger piles that will cause 'wobbling model'...but that are the only two.
