Decided to start a thread to show the hoard I am putting together with my ten year old son.
I have a reasonable sized waaagh going with models from the 80s through to today.
Currently working on kanz, grotz and a freebooter mob or two.

Those Spellcrow parts work well.
I really like what you did with the games day Warboss, I've always wanted him but struggled to come up with a way of using him in 40k as he is quite a "closed model", I think you did an excellent job.
Good stuff!

My table is so busy, I can't concentrate on one thing at a time. Does anyone concentrate on one model for modelling and painting or do you have many projects running at once?

I have multiple models on the go although I should really just knuckle down and get one of them finished I suppose but I constantly get tempted away by the other projects.
The glyph looks absolutely fantastic, and the warboss is huge! The four legs has put me in mind of a Warner Bros cartoon villain, tiptoeing up behind someone, tapping them on the shoulder with the power claw and then BOOM, a face-full of rokkits!!
Great stuff, loads of character in these boyz, keep them coming.

I have that same problem, and I know many others do too, where you start a project before finishing the last one.
I find myself constantly surrounded by unfinished work, and their always large complicated projects too .
Nice work on the mek encampment by the way.
67098

I had better finish this one then!
My lad has asked if it can have lights, I am thinking: Mek sign, flickering brazier and some interior lights in one of the huts.
Mocked up the sign with a red led

Moving on, rivet cramps are already setting in! Not sure whether to light up the sludge pit or just to have a clear resin, green slime....
Needs a pile of wheels and a few other half made vehicles and bits around, also grills in the windows and some doors.
Pretty happy with it though and in 'glue drying' times I'm even putting paint onto the other hut.
Thinking an Ork Promethium station next.....

It all looks good so far except the door should be redone. Firstly and most importantly, the round tops of the wood instantly betray the fact that they're popsicle sticks. Secondly, the width also does the same to a lesser extent, so if I were you I'd cut the ends off, rough them up, then snap them vertically and then make the door.
67098
Post by: nwns
Ah no, that's deliberate. It's a copy of a shed door on a country lane near me, it's also still in its raw form. The size is matched to 28mm orks and is about spot on, if I was making Imperial scenery I'd do it very differently but this is orks.

I just found this plog and greatly enjoyed scrolling through all the ork stuff. I would love to see you finish your mek shop terrain piece. You have a knack for textures, riveting and details likes signs, glyphs, hatches, fences, etc. that really bring the terrain to life.
I also like the freebooterz battle wagon. Did your son finish painting it? I'd like to see a picture. It is unbelievably good for a ten-year-old. My stuff at age 12 - 14 when I started the hobby looked like utter garbage. I can't wait until my kids (currently 0, 2, 4) are old enough to model and paint with me! Sounds fun.
I'd like to see you get back to the Orks, da best army in da 'ooniverse!
67098

Thank you for your kind words, my son did finish his battlewagon yes but ork town is sitting in the corner looking forlorn
It will all get finished in time and I am back to orks once the nids are painted

Wow, this thread is a joy to go through! So many inspiring ideas. This is why I keep every Orky gubbin, bit and part I've ever had left over! And like a true Mek, I somehow ALWAYS have parts left over when da job's done!

Thanks for the update. Tell your boy the battle wagon looks great! I've been thinking about using that model for an ork conversion for a while (once I get my current projects done!) and now I see it really works well. It's from Dream Forge, right?
Oh, and tell those Tyranids to bugger off (hur hur). Orkses are more fun!

It's a Tamiya model that he picked up in Hobbycraft for about a tenner

I am surrounded by half finished 'nids and orks... and have promised the boy I will help him with his Ultramarines

Thanks for clarifying. It's not the model I thought it was. It definitely works well as a Flash Gitz land ship! Great work, especially for a kid. I hope when my kids are a bit older they will be building Ork models that look that good!

Now I am not a GW 'hater' but I always fancied a garden of Morr as a centre piece for cities of death type games. Last week they just wiped it from existence! Gone!
I rang round the stores and found one in Liverpool but still, they cannot have sold out so have they just binned the remaining stock?
Enjoying painting it anyway
