OK so I am trying again to run a PM Blog in the hopes of having some good old wholesome fun with the community while keeping my ADHD focused on getting my beloved DE revamped. I started playing DE WAY back in 3rd with the starter and after a decade of hoping for an update gave them up. Two more years later would see them finally redone yet it would take a few more years to get me to update my fugly army. (it's bitter sweet when a new line is in fact so awesome it makes you want to burn what you have despite the huge investment in time and money already committed )
I worked on finishing some other projects (yea right like they will ever end) and wouldn't you know it, just as I am getting the ball moving a NEW release starts dropping! Took to long, we did
So anywho, I have quite a few vehicles already underway, 12 venoms and 5 raiders (two of which are magnetized to be ravagers). All my vehicles are custom because I am an idiot like that and have to build unique crap so as to not show up to a tournament with a clone army
heres just a couple quick snaps of the fleet:
Venom
Raider
Here is my real pleasure though, my creations of terror!!!
Taloi
Cronos
That's it for now, but I have at least 3 more toloi to convert, a grotesquerie and custom clawed fiends along with some special coven raiders and an aerie full of scourge PLUS LOTS MORE!
Stay tuned!

OK! So I got some green stuffing done and also managed to get my 10 grotesques about 90% complete since my last post. I also managed to spend more money on plastic crack from ebay (more on that later).
So I finished the faces of my two talos....taloi...talus... you get the point
The pics came out a bit crappy, but it gets the general idea. Basically eyeless, bind furry is their game
Heres the real gem of this post (or at least I hope) the 10 grots, who's bits have been sitting in my case now for over 2 years!
Here are some close ups:
4 of them still need bone racks which were ebayed and they all still need various trophies and vials of fluis added to their backs and what not. The import thing is the greenstuffing and general conversions and posing is all done. The models used for those who haven't seen this conversion before are from warmachine. They are legion of everblight warspears, great models however the material used is a nightmare! It's a PVC resin hybrid of some sort and while the details are crisp and the fit tight, the stuff is CRAZY hard to cut up and impossible to sand.
So be warned, make sure you have plenty of sharp blades and if you haven't bought any I HIGHLY recommend the model chisel set from micromark.com These things cut plastic, pewter and this nightmare garbage better then my expensive hobby knives and can fit where a knife won't while being less likely to cut you, just pick up a self healing mat while your at it so you don't damage your models.
Any way thats it for now, debating whether I want to convert their raiders, finish my coven wraithknight or work on coven clawed fiends next.
Maybe you guys can chime in
Comments and criticism are always welcome and in fact encouraged as it motivates me to load more work on this thing!
Happy hunting fellow Haemonculi

Yea I have two old talos I need to bring up to date sometime here.
Your grots look ace! I considered the ratogre rout as well but I find the warspears to have a more masochistic and intelligent look which I find much more frightening.
The arms on the cronos are from two kits, the smaller are from ghouls and the larger are pink horror arms.

finally took a peek at your blog, must say..... ima tingling! That wraithknight?!? mmmmmmmmmmm, I am stealing some of this genius! I am planning to start work on a vampirish/ghostly wraithknight soon and I love what you've done with the torso and wings. Can I get some advice, on the upper torso left shoulder/chest area, you did some fleshwork with GS thats like umm like sinuie? is that the word?/spelling? Could you give some tips on how you achieved that?
Also loving the wraith tails as part of your taloi and what are the pincer claws from?

Hey mate! Thanks so much for the kind words and for stopping by! It really means a lot and helps motivate me to load more images to share I have done a lot more to the wraith knight, but I am debating whether or not to put him on a base just yet as I am still not 100% sure on how I will base my stuff lol. At any rate I'll try to load some more pics tomorrow when the light is better.
The soulgrinder torso has some chaos looking garbage metal on it I hated so I used a hobby knife and a couple hobby chisels (seriously get some of these from micromark if you have the extra scratch) and knocked that crap off. The sinew was pretty free form sculpting, I admit that I do commission sculpting as a side job so I have a lot of color shapers and tools but honestly I think I mostly used a large wedge color shaper and my hobby knife. Just look at the opposite side for inspiration and add, remove and push it around until you get some gnarly folds and then add parallel cuts into it to make the muscle fiber.
It's late so I may not be explaining it super clear ha ha, but feel free to ask me any questions sculpting related any time you want. Biggest obstacle with greenstuff is learning to keep your tools and finger lubed constantly because the stuff is like bubble gum when dry and much harder to work with.
I hope to add a couple more taloi/cronos soon! I know, I have an addiction ha ha Hello my name is Red and I am addicted to killer meat monsters
Oh and your last question, the pincers! I have a load of the spike blades left over from raider kits http://www.ebay.com/itm/WARHAMMER-40K-BIN-BITS-DARK-ELDAR-RAIDER-SPIKES-and-CHAINS-/360610791035?pt=Games_US&hash=item53f613fe7b and I basically just used a small and a large one fit inside of the talos wrist pieces. I always liked my old metal talos pincer so I wanted to try and make an updated version. IDK about you but I think the most terrifying/nastiest death would be from a large scissor or pincer nipping pieces/limbs off your body...Ick! I love it!

No thank you red, such a long and informative reply that i didn't anticipate
As for basing, for my harle force i basically picked up a set of these chinese\elven looking stone pieces from a non GW company, cast them using oyumaru and now i use them as a base to tie in all my models. Going for the 'protecting ancient CWE ruins'. But you could easily make that.... DE here to collect a potent artifact ruins look Any ideas as of yet?
I only recently picked up clay shapers, i had metal ones before, bigggggg difference and definitely love them. Kicking myself though, because i was impatient and used super glue to stick down some GS\milli mix and i got some on the shaper wedge when working... so now thats ruined More in post. In general i find organics much easier to sculpt and really enjoy it, its flat work and panels for my ork stuff im struggling to sculpt most.
As for more talos... Currently i have waiting for me to mix together. morghast, talos and woodelf treeman combikit. Going for a pyscho-active look, as if the models are viewed through the poor enemies eyes as the horrors play out in front of them. Id recommend the kits, they have some great bits. The morghast wings have those spirits at the bottom that im going to invert and use to make my cronos appear as if its sucking the souls out of some marines or another faction. Like indiana Jones and raiders of the lost ark style
Ahh i see, i thought it was some singular bit, i have a few blades myself from some raiders, il have a look, they did work out really well

Wow thats not a bad idea for basing. I was thinking of keeping it simple for this army since my last army is entirely on lava bases that I made from scratch
But I am in no rush so when it is time to paint I might go nuts, I just fear that the army is so fiddly for transport (my FLGS I compete in is an hour away) that making elaborate bases might make it even worse. I love to paint and model but at the end of the day I still put them all through hell playing with them
On a tangent I had my painstakingly painted Savannah Lions ( SW count as in 5th) 15 long fangs in a 4 story ruin during a tournament and my opponent bumped the building with his doom of malentais made-from-a-metal urn spore pod and knock all them onto the table/floor. He then, after I picked up and redeployed them, decided to DS it on the other end and did it a second time... Lets just say my blood pressure spiked a bit
Oh and my Iron warriors (I use SM codex) storm talon is converted to look like a helicopter and people always want to try to whack and spin the blade despite it being glued I guess the moral of my tangent is to expect your models to take some real life beatings.
I really should just go the extra mile basing the center pieces though. Compromise is the healthy choice I think here
Sucks to hear your clay shaper got ruined :( Super glue does some weird things to GS, sometimes you just gotta be patient
Your ideas for that army sound awesome man! Really digging that cronos soul sucker idea! The whole projected image theme sounds crazy too! Makes me think of your haemoculous as being the scarecrow from batman. Maybe that would be a cool nick name for him.

The wraithknight needs more spikes and layered plating on the arms and legs, kind of like the carapaces on the Taloi. (Urgh. Weird plurals.)
Plus maybe some sinew in the joints.

Yea he isn't finished. I have a metric feth ton of spikes to go on everything I have posted here at some point but my main priority is getting the overall conversion work done. I probably won't add sinew over armor though as it makes no sense to me, I always hated obliterators for that exact reason but your right, I do need to add some in the shoulder and hip joints.
I might layer some plates but I also want to leave enough room for freehand paintwork. It If I make a loin cloth then I definitely will add some plates to his cod piece, but I may just free hand something creepy onto it instead. He is rapidly approaching too busy. Another reason why I am holding off on adding blades and such. I want to get the composition just right.

I love the taloi.
The wraithknight looks awesome, I had a similar idea, but lack of balls/ a wallet to pull it off. My only small issue with it is the legs and arms look too craftworldy (ugh). Maybe add some scars or something, just too make it more horrible.

I cant believe I've never noticed this thread before, as there is some seriously awesome work going on here.
That Wraithknight is a beautiful piece of work, I love how you've managed to keep it looking so dynamic, something that's not so easy to do when your dealing with such large models.
Also the fact that you seem to have converted every model in that Dark Eldar army, which is fantastic as it creates something that's really unique .

That Wraithknight Is amazing, the way you've made it fit your theme is perfect, can't wait to see it finished.
Your conversions are going to look a million times better than regular armies, way to capitalise on the 5 Talos formation, that just screams conversion potential, plus you may even ending saving money, those things are freaking pricey for a 100 put model, nobody has the models to run that formation lol

So when last I posted I had no idea I was due for a neck injury lol. I ended up blowing a disc in my neck which causes loss of function and atrophy of the muscles in my left pec, shoulder and tricep and loads of pain. LOADS OF PAIN LOL.
How appropriate, but alas, the haemoculus I am has recovered having learned from my painful experiment, however accidental lol. I managed to paint up my army for the fall tournament I was planing the army for and then proceeded to procrastinate on updating this blog. I apologize for the long absence.
Anyway, I am off to work but here are some things to view.
the keen observer will notice I missed that MASSIVE gem on the sword in the last pic, I noticed it the day of the tournament and have still not corrected the error
Bare in mind it's still only 80% done anyway. At least thats the excuse.
Here were the other big hits of the event, warp spiders! these are one 5 man unit, there is also another.

anywho, off the work, I'll get more stuff up tonight!

Reavers!
Here are my two counts as faseers on jetbikes, they can also double as haemis for my grotesqueries, I call them the twins, two tortured psychic abominations that serve as slave conduits for their masters bidding. Oh and Urien is in there, it is the original sculpt, my personal favorite dark eldar miniature even to this day. That model is simply oozing with details and character!

Thanks, I was initially going to go with black armor but black really makes the army fall flat when your gaming. I decided white would be less traditional and have a unique look for dark eldar units. I actually was inspired by the magic card Ellish Norn for the color scheme.

Thanks so much for the kind words! I wanted to make bikes that were unique and had a coven theme, I also was keeping in mind that if they looked like there own concept I can sub them in as windrider jetbikes with stock weapons instead of reavers I like the standard kit, but it always seemed strange to me that wyches road bikes and flew razorwings.

Thanks so much for stopping in and showing your support! I have been meaning to get some painted minis up here but was being an arse
I probably will use this thread to show progress of my Slaanesh cult Chaos army until fall when I go to a yearly tournament. I usually try to take a new army each year, I am about 80% done with the build phase for it and only have until late October to finish assembly and paint! It is always a made dash but it forces me to get an army mostly painted (generally everything 80-90% done) each year.
I always return to the True Kin however as it is my favorite army, so in true DE fashion I will be using other projects to keep the soul of this thead alive until they are the main focus again I'll be sure to snap more and better picks of the DE here and there as well
