Hey all. Been a while. I return yet again... this time working on a maniple.
Maniple contains in gryphanicus colors.
1 warlord
2 reavers
3 war hounds
First I am working on the warlord after my big move I made.
Progress so far is I got the legs and heads in order.
1 of the heads is a mashing of two heads because my limited edition head I got Los Vegas open this year had missing parts. So anyone want extra warlord head bits i actually have some..
On to the photos.
The assembly begins.. cleaned and ready for gluing
assembly continues. Ran 1/4" wood rods soaked in JB weld and super glue into the shin, and thigh/knee.
glued feet and ran rods in the hips as well. Super glue and rods. 3/4" thick rods. 2-3" long each.
standing with its heads
tactical head close up
head 1
head 2
finished legs
knight for scale.

Going to a Voltron approach soon...
Progress on the torso...
Each panel is warped to some degree and requires bending. For now, they are cleaned, sanded, and about to be washed.
Tomorrow I will bend them and clamp the bottom layer together.

Always find it curious that they can't make a straight panel. But they look so good, so much detail.

It is the material issue. It has a low bending temp that is arrived at during shipping and when freshly removed from the mould. Other plastics are higher temps.
Anyways after fiddling and screwing, bending, panda love making, whispering sweet nothing's, and crying I got it to go together in a decent way in 2 hours. It has gaps that will be filled.
Progress shot.

Good start getting the frame together.
About 1hr of crying 30 minutes talking to the voices and 29.5 watching the glue dry.
Camkierhi wrote:Well it is a large model isn't it, so bulky.
It is 24" tall without weapons on top
Today's progress is I put in a really deadly magnet in the waste. Has a 20lb hold..

Well first off.. I finished the magnets on the torso... and I am still laughing about it. They are so strong I can loft the warlord by the top.
Secondly trying to install shoulder joints now. It is bent drastic. Bender be proud.

I will banana scale it tomorrow.. reason being I just did a 7 part glue.
While I am at it I will take other scale requests.
So project update. Just dumped a ton of money on tools. I think at the end I will write up a list of things I used as a suggestion.
And well here is the progress... I gave it the clamps!

Thanks whale. It means a lot to me coming from you. I have seen your warlord and stuff. I watched closely before doing mine.
RedSarge wrote:Adopt me! Lol.. I can cook breakfast at any time of day!
If you like Idaho. By all means come by. We can do lunch.
Anyways progress.
I am dry fitting about 9 pieces right now. The upper shoulders went smoothly enough that I am not worried. Also they are really sturdy thanks to JB weld. I didn't bother pinning lower large blocks due to how thin that plastic is where they connect. Just tons of weld.
The top reactors are going to be a pretty extreme challenge. The Inside seems seem to have a gap. I think I need to heat the pieces to bend them into shape. Not entirely sure. The rear reactor parts fit flush. Those will be glued first.
The center hull super structure beams fit superbly. The lower power blocks on the side have a 1/16" gap that I will sand down their connection point to fit.
Debating on waiting on gluing the top reactors until I gap filled and sanded the torso.
At minimum future work is rear reactor vents, super structure beams, and the arms either upper or lower weapons.
Stay tuned panda out.

It is a strong 2 part epoxy kind of deal. It sets in a few hours cures in 24. It is cheap and found in walmarts. About 5$ will cover a warlord titan (I was extremely wasteful with the material and need to acquire more. Not intentionally, not the best at judging volume.) It will also gap fill due to its viscosity. However it will pour out as it dries if given the chance, tho not by much. It's hold is rated at 4.5klbs which is about double my usual gorilla glue apoxy.
Theophony wrote:

The fruits you would to see bare this image have a sense of appeal to you that is plainteen-ly comical and just in general bananas. Alas you make the thread rather humorful and fun so by all means keep it. Also some how you know what my next big project is...

Any kit you get from FW is going to be bent. It gets hot during shipping, and is soft out of the mold. While jetpacking the model is tempting I suggest saner hands meet the world.
It's actually been going fairly well. Happy to see you Vik!

Mistakes are certian, but all you got to do is keep trying. And dry fit 10 times because the first 9 were not the same and the model may enter a super state of phase shift altering dimensions breifly.

these are wonderful ideas. It fits their fluff well.
Then on to progress.
I put magnets in the head of the Titan and did it correctly with respect to their fields.
I put the magents in with some of the new tools I have, namely fancy Foster drill bits. They are different than wood drill bits as their point is shorter. Thus they make simpler cylinders that dont go as deep.
Current working tool list....
I can go through each tool if the community likes, but this should be a simple guide.

It is indeed a great model. Accompanied with all the head aches it can cause. I need to get all the Titans built by October. Hoping the rest go faster than this gentlemen. They should be finished painted by December.
Progress time!
I can finally say, short of armor pieces there is nothing left to glue for the center torso... oh and I need to create or patch the elbows as I inserted magnets for later magic.
And this is how i feel about this
I mean I have some sanding and minor gap filling to do, but I can now work on the arms and upper carapace weapons.

I like these suggestions. Thank you for the contribution.
whalemusic360 wrote:Will the magnets be strong enough? The arms weigh quite a bit.
Yeah about that. I upped my game. It took 1lb of force release the arm, and with my upped game takes close to a 10lb tug to release. It is hearty but low in friction so I am added a vertical magnet and abandoning rotational arms. Should take around 15lbs of force to remove afterwards.

Working on the plasma arms at the same time. Figure I would go faster already having the right tools out. I constantly have to educate myself on magnets as I do my work. Mostly using them to talk to my brothers in the stars.
Oh and whalemusic.. you can lift the entire torso upside down by the arms. Not recommended as that is the limit of the joints. But you can.

The great thing about the dreamforge leviathans is you can change their poses and stuff after assembly until you glue the pistons into permanent place. I even painted him up without gluing him together to ensure I could play with him like an action figure. It'll rub paint off at the joints, but it's fun to change him around.
Plus the hot swap arms work just like the magnets....only without drilling.

Shave down a bottle cap. The texture on the sides is enough to make it interesting. Or you could scratch up a small sensor array, and put a small metal plate in it or a small magnet, so it rotates independent of the arm.

The arms actually doesn't really actively rotate, but the bottle cap is good idea. The magnet is .25" by .125"

Sadly, I don't have the space for things of this size (even tank-sized things are starting to be problematic). I would imagine it would have much more than that.
With the second hand attached and the only armor plate that needs to be glue on the warlord titan build is nigh complete. I just need to fix up the elbows, and add a little extra do dads.

Great build!! Too bad those turbo laser on the carapace are soooo utterly oversized.
It woud be nice also not to see them always in pair, but rather have a different weapon for every slot. It's also more fluffy that way =).

too bad the hands are built now, because he could have been a standard bearer. The right arm almost looks like it could hold one. Crotch banner yes , I'm not sure how you could attach the top banner without destroying something, plus does it really need to be taller? I mean it's not like there are thousands of these out there and yours might get lost in the crowd or something that you need banners to pick it out.

Sadly, I don't have the space for things of this size (even tank-sized things are starting to be problematic). Either someone pays me to make theirs, or it'll be a while before I can have my own...although I have plans for a similar-scaled addition for my army, but all scratch-built (plans are hush hush for now)...
Great progress.

I see a hot pink boa in its future if Dr. H gets ahold of one. , and it being modeled with two fingers up showing the second law gang sign .
I would imagine it would have much more than that.
With the second hand attached and the only armor plate that needs to be glue on the warlord titan build is nigh complete. I just need to fix up the elbows, and add a little extra do dads.
Now some questions you all get to answer.
Do we do top flags like example:
A crotch flag or do we do both?
Sorry I haven't visited your all plogs they are important to me I am just drowning in resin
I would say top flag just for at home and for taking pics to show random people on the internet, and crotch flag when taking it out to play with other peoples toys
But that's just me, and as I only have a warhound im doing atm warhounds never had top flags, so alas I can't do one ( altho I would love to do two wrecker balls for it....hummm.... ill brb)

If you do top flags, maybe not on the same scale as on the epic miniature. Don't want it interfering with ceiling fans and the like.
Could do a couple of lines of smaller flags on the raised vent-stacks (?) between the guns.
But a crotch flag makes more sense as most people are going to be looking up at this chap from ground level. They won't see anything above the head.

I decided to widden the eyes on the hound because I will be painting them in. Also I don't really believe in interiors so I will be gluing the head shut. The warhound almost has all the parts cleaned and ready for assembly. Looks like I will be doing minimal amounts of pinning.
I will detail this build as much as the community likes. Let me know.

Welcome back to the world of Dakka. Nice to see you alive again, and maybe even posting...
Right so that detailed build.... yeah I am doing it swear...
Alright above here is me showing you how i pose my feet. i use a combination of super glue and JB weld to work in the joints. I prefer my war machines to be walking casually through the enemies rank to marry poppins.
The joints are wet for about 10 minutes, and cured in 24 hours.
Then progress on the torso.. so warhound torsos are only about 5 parts to glue together. And I will inform you that as much as i requested for a thrid arm to assemble it with photos the dark gods only gave me many crickets.
So here is that end result. Again a mix of jbweld and super glue..
Note, the toes are still not glued at all, held in by friction. The head is not attached either. All the armor plates are glued down. Fight me dakka, I hate interiors. Nothing says suspension of disbelief like opening up your model in the middle of combat. Besides mine only ever contain chaos on the inside. Like so many demons in them. Anyways, the legs will be more detailed, as well as the hips. As with these models that are the most critical parts.

That name is fancy, and acceptable. Welcome to the cringe show. Where I make the internet cringe with a blatant disregard for model safety, and beauty.
On to the progress....
Here is panda's 1-2 boom you glued yourself to everything and now understand the world better.
JBweld... like sniff this stuff, eat it, be it. And dont do a single thing I say you will die and need medical attention and we all know how many docs we keep running around in regiments. (Complete after thought)
next mix it to make it dark grey like the other spot on the paper. I use wood to stir and apply it, because i am brave.
I apply the amount i feel i need usually determined by the alignment of the stars and the rotational of a dropped apple. Toes/legs get more than the torso. Toes get it more freely than william wallace in the middle of a rebellion.
Next jam some super glue in there too with the JBweld. The glue dries faster and will allow the JB weld to cure more securely attached, giving you much less working time with the joint, and more stability to multitask. Or just throw that part on the ground. I dont care.
Then connect the pieces and with post haste wipe off the splurging jbweld. (I do this intentionally on toes, and myself)
Here another example!
Glue and jbweld
Smash that sucker in like its an Ork Choppa contest in the middle of pumpkin smashing in a field of be careful and take your time.
Now for some magnetization
I use big old magnets from rarelement or something like that website I cant remember and my browsing history is too thick to resolve. Google! Or ask the farseer. They always know what i do. They watch me. Its nice to not be so alone.
I just use pure JBweld and good old fashion time... in case you are wondering the exact diameter of the Warhound's hip connector is 1.25" I eyeballed that on the website/google photos. My magnet is .25"x1.25" and rated at N48 which has about a 25lb hold, and in emergencies will clear hard drives and stop pacemakers. Using my Forstner bit I simply drilled into the torso a bit (prone to ouchies here) and then glue the magnet it and everything still sits flush with room for a steel waster to add to the Warhound's lower hip.
Strength demo.
Next up is the legs, and showing you how I "plan" them out, and pin them.
Comments are welcome, critics too! Thank you all for your time in this Mek's dreams.

Is it the big Levi or the smaller one? Resin kits are somewhat painful to build.

I like the assy biotitans for nids. They are a pain to build though even the bio titan ones.

I iz a sneaky git with kunnin choppa.
Warboss_Waaazag wrote:Build looks good so far. Looking firward to seeing more progress.
Here it is.
Alright so first thing first...
Learn how to calculate the center of gravity in side awkwardly shaped objects. There is YouTube and wiki for this math and it is helpful. It also helps that we as humans have a inate understanding of cg.
Next is to plan your walking /standing pose.
So here you can see with the left leg I have the toes up meaning it needs to lean forward onto the right foot which is pressing down maintaining the weight of the locomotion of the model. Luckily the warhound is butt heavy and the modeler calculated the correct cg for the torso. You can hold it at the hip join and it doesnt lean forward. This just means you need to achieve a proper cg for the legs and the model will stand under its own power acceptably.
I plan the legs as shown above accommodating the feet I posed. Next I construct a leg.
I keep the other foot nearby to remind myself of the hips placement and the relative length of the second leg. As you can see I got the cg of the left leg right by the fact that it stands on the upwards toes on its own. I then construct the right leg accounting for cg as well and use popsicle sticks and wooden dowels and the hips as guides for straight, and separation distance.
Due to the war hounds small size I am going to run pins through the joints after the glue cures which could be tonight. All the gluing is jbweld and super glue. You get about 10 minutes of work time with the joints. However I allowed the legs to set into position before gluing them to the feet. I wiggled them around the ankles to get the upper positioning correct. My rule is have as few moving joints as possible.
The legs of these models are the most critical part to get correct failure to do so means it won't stand on its own and will require a base to be bolted to it. I don't want this at all. It appears though that I got the legs right and everything will stand.

You and I definitely have different tastes. This project is likely to get the back burner to finish painting my army.
Warboss_Waaazag wrote:Legs look great. They stand well. I'm just hoping that when the rest of the body is applied to them that the center of gravity on them doesn't muck anything up.
Fun thing about center of gravity is that if you stack them on top each other from two different objects and have no drift in the x or y direction of the grid you will maintain cg!
Hence get the legs right and the hip won't mess with it as it adds a center force and the torso just needs to be a center force as well and you are done.
Dr H wrote:Nice pose on the legs. Look good where they are.
Thanks Dr!
So I had a small set back. In testing the standing of the titan I accidently got a metal washer stuck in the torso. Then another magnet. Thus I closed off the plug in the warhound. Well a saw later and drill I glued a metal washer into the hips to be flush and thus will still have the two join. Maybe even easier to separate! But you know trying to make the best of a mistake. No photos as glue is drying

Also if anyone photoshops these to look like the Beatles walking across that famous street, I will be forever impressed and you will win the internet.
Cheers for the visit, up next is the infiltrators.

Love the use of the Tempestus Scions power fist (at least I think that's what it is). What was wrong with the mud effect on it before? I rather liked it. It looked like some form of caustic mud that was bleaching the robes out!
They look fantastic though, the blue is very unusual but really gives them a cold vibe as Camkierhi mentioned. I'd be pretty pleased to see them opposite on the tabletop.

That is the correct power fist bit! I loved the fist and simply had to find a way to use it.
The main issue with the mud effect is that it was caused by the varnish going wrong. I couldn't consistently repeat the process for an entire army. I need a method that yields something colorful, and repeatable. I did like the really pale white tan of the dried out look of it.
I am curious why people think the blue is unusual. I am wondering if i am color blind or something...
If I ever find myself across the pond again, I would be happy to play you.

Ha, yes! Nailed it!
Ah, the need for consistency makes a lot of sense. I liked it too, shame really. The blue is unusual because it is admech, who are almost always done in shades of red or orange.

I always take commision work. I would happily take on such a project. Pricing is subject to work load desired.
Anyways...
Hello dakka people who visit this thread. Good news i went to LVO. It was mega fun and i recommend more come to it. The ademch army did really well for me. I just wish i practiced more games so i knew what genesteeler cult and blood angels did.
I am going to be attending more GTs with this army and more. Photos will come tonight.
We left off on the war hound and should finish it tonight.
Also picked up some custodes, and space marine dreadnaughts, and 3 forge world knights. I will add the knights to this blog...maybe the other models as well.
No photos for now. Thanks for visiting.

Cheers cam. Here is where we stand fellow dakkamites
Warhound hull is completed...
Magnetizing the arms is something i am still trying to figure out how to complete. Also totally screw doing all the hydraulics on the warhound. So many...so many parts... egad.
This guy accidentally happened
He uh. is uh... hot stuff
Some admech WIPS....
Some LVO Match shots! Army did pretty damn well for me
How we got decide what we are doing next on this thread... there is about a dozen projects to choose from.
2 more warhounds, 2 more reavers, 2 more castellan knights...
We can break it up with some painting
*calculating painting backlog.exe crashed*
I can paint some titans or some Levithan or a dedredo... oh we can start custodes or necrons.
Dakka you choose...though i am not the best contributor any more... i try.

Something is always better than nothing. Good to see you still going.
Good table shots too.
I find that when I'm stuck for what to do next, roll a die. Then, when it inevitably chooses something you don't want to do roll it again until it chooses something that grips you.
It does help with the choice paralysis. Once you get going the creative juices should get flowing.

Yeah, sometimes I hold up because I can't decide what colors I want to use. Rolling a dice totally tells you what you don't want, and you can narrow it down. The table and blue Admech look great!

I take 1$ tips and know a few dance moves.
Hey, all I would update more, but i have mostly been building models... not a lot of painting. Had a supply drop come in of 13 leman russes and Torgusa gave me a baneblade to go with it. So those lovely ladies will be coming up. Which I will be crafting some custom parts for to match the russess I acquired.
In the near future here I am setting up a 3d printer lab in my home. It will be high-quality prints and not an FFF type like many people see. I should be able to prototype any part you like assuming you have a proper 3d model. Keep me in mind. Hit me with a PM or an email.
I also made some custom decals for the flesh tearers not photo'd. They seem to be good to go, and had to use that nice old fashioned a4 paper.
Anyways been working on the flesh tearers, would like to have them the finished painting by Monday. Basing will be when that material comes in. So i guess... colored by Monday. Based by Sunday again.
Also black is hard to give depth and still maintain blackness too... Here is my humble attempt at what maybe trash

I been painting these guys.
I still need to do things like paint the leathers, power sword, and paint the bases up. Waiting on new vellejo products to arrive to try out. I am feeling like muddy bases again. I just like mud. Its dumb.

Wat?
I know that calm demeanor in the face of grave loss - it's covering up the suppressed murderous rage.
I'd wish a nasty accident on the culprit normally, but i get the feeling a young child may be involved in this case..

The toys are fun and great to have. But they are toys at the end of the day. I had to liquidate them to support my family as we had some issues arrive unexpected as per usual.
Still loss hurts... however the flesh tearers should earn me some caranage. And i still have the knights for you all to enjoy. i guess i need to alter the title of this thread tho.

Update to the plog. Firstly I regret to inform you I will be traveling for 3 weeks. Its mandated by the current leader of the Imperium, and as a loyal toaster constructor, I obey. I will be traveling to the flats of Mars which I will observe the new construction of ping-pong servitors. I will attempt to bring hobby with me to work on and post from my remote location. Firstly the invasion continues growing as scout reports show below. It is expected this is only the spearhead of the death metal advance on the world. Luckily the local Astra Militarium regiment is also bolstering its forces to lend aid. The unnamed female regiment hails from a harsh sandy world with such storms requiring the tanks to be elongated to handle the terrain as well as balance the weapons, rounded to weather the wind, and most of the weapon capabilities being enclosed or shielded from the elements directly. And due to the lack of naturally occurring terrain features for cover, they elongate their barrels of standard weapons on the primary turrets. What we have here front to back is 2 demolisher tanks with tripple heavy flamer (sponsons and hull) 2 twin battle cannon tanks with tripple heavy bolters (sponsons and hull) 2 annhilator patterns with hull lascannon Their barrels are super long lascannon and for some reason, I like this conversion. I intend to add some ropes of plastic string to make coils at the base of the barrels to make it more iconic to the lascannon commonly seen. close up In other news, I broke 2 airbrushes in 1 day. But this provided prompt excuses to buy new parts and a new airbrush. Accepting that the machine spirits of air sprayers were not with me, and no oils to lubricate myself and the machines and in general, a complete lack of prays or lit incense the atmosphere was not sexy enough to satisfy the machine spirits. I humbly flipped the machine spirits off in a torrent of binary data that their ancestors crashed and burned about. I wiped the desk clean and pulled out the super glue. And began building what I have shown and things I have not shown. Those things I have not shown shall be saved for a later date. I am converting the Armigers to be a little fancier than your average Armigers. Thank you all for the support and comments. You are what makes dakka dakka worthwhile.

Returned home. And i managed to beef up the necrons again as well as even play a game with them against dark eldar. Then accidentally acquired a ton of necron destoyers.
Lessons learned from the necron game:
Monoliths are actually called sad-a-liths
Catacomb command barges are - bad-ass-mando-barges
Live long and have a good time.
