@shakey787: Yes, TFM also does international shipping all over the world!
@Sgt.Roadkill: I'll pass the request on! I do agree that a buzzcut of a sorts would look good. Many female models I've seen on the market have been given this anime like approach of unfitting girly haircuts just because otherwise they "wont look female enough" or some excuse like that...

More on the Junk bots by Technoscream:
And an update from Ynek:
The missile launcher fits into the body using a partial ball-and-socket joint, which I am feeling tempted to replace, as it would not be poseable on the finished article.
The cannon was originally going to fit in in a similar way, using a partial ball-and-socket joint, but as of this evening, I now have a poseable 'turret', illustrated somewhere below.
Both weapons attach to the body via weapon mount, which fits into a hollow cylinder, circled red in the below picture. (dimensions: OD 8.2mm ID 6.8mm (approximately. I used a ruler to measure)
Direct link: http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/4089/aaaaxn.jpg
Into this cylinder, one of the two mounts I have created can be affixed. The first one (the missile mount) is illustrated below. At present, this is the only way that the missile launcher can be attached to the walker (other than being attached, flat and without mount, to the top of the carapace).
Direct link:http://img210.imageshack.us/img210/4033/picture377j.jpg
The new cannon mount is a touch more complicated, but I think I kinda captured the elements of how it attaches to the model in the following pictures...
The complete weapon mount and cannon:
First component of the mount, in the carapace socket:
How the new cannon mount breaks down for parts:
close up...
[IMG]http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/7932/picture629.jpg
[/IMG]
The below two pictures illustrate that the new mount could easily be used to give a carapace-mounted cannon turret, if desired. I'll also be making a detail panel (similar to the detail panel for the radar dish) which this weapon mount can fit onto.
Additionally, my stitches came out today, so aside from a little bruising (and probably, later on, a bit of scarring), my finger is pretty much back to normal.
[[EDIT:]]
I also added some more detail to the machine gun chin turret. It has also been fiddled to make it poseable on the finished article. There is still some more detailing to do, but as you can see, I've added quite a few new bits to make it a bit less bland.
And Dracon Magis is still working on that scary daemon:

I really have no idea exactly why, but those Junk Bots really appeal to me. I hope they're in resin, come modular, and are cheap. I would get a large quantity of them.
Plus, Ynek's walker is driving me crazy because no full-body image has been released yet. We're left with dozens of 'teaser' shots of miscellaneous parts. I understand why you do it, and I am looking forward to it being completed.
9394
Post by: Malika2
The junk bots will most likely be released in resin, they will be a multipart kit, so the idea is that you can customize it fully!
As for the walker, I'm waiting for a full shot as well because I'm curious as hell what it will look like!

I'll do a sketch of Ynek's walker, I've got a good idea of what it looks like, until it's cast that'll have to do, as both legs use the same components Ynek's only made one and the rest of the model is too big to be held together by blu tack so taking a full pic has so far been very difficult. I believe there are plans for Ynek to produce alternate parts such as legs, cockpits etc. eventually.

Don't you already have GW's daemonettes?
I don't know if they will pop up or not. At the moment the sculptors are doing their project. We hope to get some level of direction/focus with game/background projects such as Urban Ops, Warspike, Sciror (join the discussions here) and Wastelander, rather than having a mountain of random sculpts or simply creating extras for GW armies, there are already a whole bunch of companies doing that (some of them doing an excellent job!).

I ragged on that concept art a few pages back, but that walked looks like it is far, far better than the sketch! Still think the legs could do with some serious bulking up though, it looks mentally top-heavy, but again, could just be the sketch and not be reflected in the actual model.

Trolls shouldn't be looking attractive, they are nasty creatures. We were just brainstorming about the trolls working together in families sort of speak. I think Ed prefers them just sticking together for no real "complex" reasons, which you can kind of read in the last 2-3 pages (pages 8-10) in the thread on Ed's trolls.
As for other races and their families, I doubt it, I guess the minotaurs will all be adult males, big scary creatures.

Great new stuff, fellas.
I do have one bit of constructive criticism: Icesword's greatcoat guard are really nice, except for the silly round goggle-eyes. Combined with the rebreather cylinders they have a truly comical effect. Redesigning the eyewear in a visor style would go a long ways towards making them both less silly and more anachro-futuristic. Plus the goggle-rings aren't that evenly formed in the firstplace.
Pull those off and you have really great minis. Leave them on and it's Greatcoat Aardvarks in Spaaaaace!

I really like the way the "Commissar" and "General" are turning out - look fantastic, and will be on my "to get" list when finished - will be joining my Arbites as officers or commanders.
The preacher is looking good too, but still seems a little scrawny in the arms...or is that an intentional effect to show age etc.?
Everything else is looking good (not a fan of the big hats, would probably be the first thing I'd ditch in a real combat zone , but they're very eye-catching...which is why I'd ditch 'em!)
The only critique of the samurai at this stage is that the blade must still be a WIP? Unless the sculptor is going to represent a "non-traditional" sword of some type?

Post by: Borak
My money's on it taking close to a year to see release. the sculpt isn't finished yet. there's still a lot that wormwood needs to do on it, then there's the whole mold making process
It's the exact opposite of GWs rumour clampdown. we share stuff from the off but that means a long wait from first pictures to final release...plus all our mold making and casting is done by one (super hard working) guy...part time around a day job which also slows things down.
We release things as quickly as we can, often as soon as Ed's tested the mold and determined that it works but sometimes we have to wait for pictures of the casts (in instanced where sculptors want to provide painted pics). we have been toying with ideas to streamline things further in that regard.
The reason we share so much so early is to gather feedback and help us to improve. most of our artists are amatures learning the craft. not everything previewed will make it to release. it's largely down to the individual artist and if they are happy with the piece. models must also be approved by the TF forum mods and Ed. we're constantly trying to improve the quiality and originality of our models
some of the guys are still doing some bits that would look at home on a GW battlefield but many are branching out into less familiar territory

The Icerider is coming along well, but the beast doesn't look quite right... Centre of balance is all wrong. It needs a more upright stance, have a shorter body, or have a bit more of a sense of moving forwards (so staying upright through momentum as it moves)... At the moment, it's looking like it has stopped to look around, but there's nothing holding up the front end, and the tail isn't big enough to counterbalance the long torso.
It's nicely sculpted, though

JohnHwangDD wrote:Ever see a horse rearing up?
Yup. Which is why I think this one doesn't look right.
It would be fine if it is in mid-rear (as in only halfway up or down)... but there's no real sense of motion to the minitature that would convey that. It looks to be either standing in place looking around, or walking forwards... either of which don't fit with it leaning so far forwards.
If it's meant to be rearing, it needs to be more upright. If it's meant to be standing, it likewise needs to be more upright and/or have a shorter body. If it's meant to be moving forwards, lifting one of the rear legs off the ground would help with the front-heaviness, as running would allow it to use momentum to stay up on two legs better than walking.

Mal, just looking at the sword, it still needs some work, especially the "flare" (where it widens again) at the tip of the blade - assuming it is to represent a "katana / tachi" shaped bladed, that flare shouldn't be there at all - the blade should continue to narrow until it reaches the tip. I've attached a graphic to illustrate my point.
No feedback on the armour - looks good to me, and there's heaps of different varieties anyway.

Ikim is already awar of the proportion issues with his soldier.
Ice's Techno Union and Black Praetorian models are still only concept sculpts, he's still got plenty of time to tweak the design (i agree about the seemingly bare shins/knees)
Good news is that Ed will have Ice's last batch (muties and mercs) ready and probably up in the store within the next couple of weeksm he's finished a fair number of the molds for them and he's making a second set as he expects them to be popular
they'll be in resin and will cost roughly $3 for one figure. there will be deals that make it cheaper to buy more. the best deal will hopefully bring them down to about $1.50 per model

Update on Ynek's walker:
Another minor update...
Aside from little bits of tidying up here and there, I've made a couple of new components.
The first is a new, poseable foot. The upside of this is that it will allow modellers to position the toes of the foot in any way they like, and this foot is also slightly larger, which fits the overall scale of the model a lot better.
The downside to this is that it means that four toes will have to be cast to make one complete foot (so 8 in total).
Of course, I still have to do the detailling (rivets etc.) but on the whole, I'm quite happy with the way that it's turning out...
Anywho - pics...
Another small change that I've made was that I re-fiddled the knee joint. Originally, a large cylinder on the thigh slid into a narrow loop on the shin to create the joint, but on reflection, this could be difficult to cast. (The thin ring might warp, etc.)
So, to make things easier, I just cut the thigh/knee cylinder in half, and stuck one half through the ring and glued it in place. This makes the knee easy to cast, and also means that on a finished model, the joint will be stronger (since the knee is held together by more than just a thin ring of resin)
Pics of the rearranged knee parts:
And finally, I finished off the back detail panel for the main carapace. It's basically just three exhaust ports (two shielded rectangular ones, and one unshielded (auxilliary) circular vent. The first picture is just the panel on it's own, but the second picture shows what it looks like in place on the back of the main carapace.
[IMG]http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/2711/picture716.jpg
[/IMG]
I'm still working on the laser weapon, but I think that the missile launcher and cannons are probably enough weapons for a kit at the minute. I'm thinking that it might be smarter to release any future additional weapons separately...
Icesword is still working on his Redemption Sector material:
Some of the BP heads I was toying with, and BP armatures on the background. Think I'm going to go with the front two heads:
Attempts at female redcoats, looking a bit off at the moment I'm not liking them. Need to reposition the heads then see how they look finished.
Cavalry:
Minor details to be added to the Cherub and this is done:
Basing- decided to sculpt little ruin bases on everything (0.5-2mm thick) to ease mounting them. They'll do for traditional slotta bases and also thin flat bases like pennies or plasticard.
Early stages/mock ups of robots and the artillery heavy gun that will be pulled by a horse:
Daemonslave continues to work on the dungeon tiles:
Right, update time. Here's what I've been up to;
Made a room (5x5);
And a collapsed corridor (mark II);
[I made it detatchable for ease of moulding/casting]
And made a start on a collapsed/narrow corridor;
The walls ( wip);

Ed made a cast of it but is currently trying to figure out what to do for the master mold. Problem is that the creature is quite massive (as in taking a lot of materials) which means it would get rather expensive if produced in a more conventional manner (as in a solid piece miniature). So Ed is trying to figure out a way to keep the figure under $40 since its quite chunky. Automatically Appended Next Post: By the way, another minor update on Ed's alien:

Depends whether Icesword deem them worthy enough to be sent off. Then Ed will need to cast them and make master mold of them. The big pigman next to a marine:
And a message from Ed on the progress:
Ok, I'm getting through iKims last casts for him tonight and then his casts for the painter will go out in a week or two. That frees up my time for cyclonus. I am testing his this week, should have the casts soon. Technoscream has been very patient so I'm cutting his this week along with Ice's mutants and Kobarf, your going to have all molds done tonight.
I feel very bad about Kobarf I think he has been waiting close to a year now. The new spin cast system had some of his veru fine things not translated into metals very well so I made resin molds this week for him. The metal masters and repairs made. His mutants will be done and then casting his.
This means I have to get the alien leader finished with my space pirate. Tidyfiguremaker, vermis, badsmile, and Khavor's gal into resin and metals next.
That also allows me to get SSDC's run into frames for them while begining prep for Kyte.

Mal,
Really sorry to say this, but, as per my earlier message, there are severe proportion issues with that female sniper. The head and face are completely wrong (sorry, not a very technical description, I know), and unless she is meant to be anorexic, the same goes for the forearms. These do not reflect human musculature in any way. Do not like in the slightest, IMHO.
Something about the large "pigman" model is reminding me of the early Citadel Ogre and Ogryn models - maybe it's the oversize bottom lip?

Has Troll Forged considered listing more information for each miniature in the shop? These are my complaints/comments:
- The "Old School Aliens" are supplied with 40mm round bases but are pictured on non-GW square bases. Other pictures may help gain a sense of scale.
- Some miniatures are supplied with a 25mm base, but their scale isn't listed. The Ganger Girl looks to be 32mm (to the eye) whereas the Civilians Mob looks to be 25mm (to the eye). I notice that Demogorath has the height listed; please do this with other listings! With oddities such as the Rot Demon and the Skull Child both on the same base, height would be appreciated.
- The Build-a-Demon page would benefit greatly if you could label the parts. I can tell what the "vulture" head is, but I can't clearly tell which one is "cyclops" and which one is "eye". The torsos are indistinguishable aside from "rotten".
- There seems to be an inconsistency between painted models and unpainted models. Not that this is a problem, but unpainted pictures would be a great boon if possible. It would be good to see what details are actually part of the model, and it would be nice to know the material (pewter or resin).

@ Lunahound. there are many TFM members that take private commissions. Your best bet is to pop over to our forum and post what your after in the Commissions and Schedules sub forum
If you'd like to see TFM produce something specific for general release you're best bet is to join the forum post your idea in concept design sub-forum and spend some time convincing a sculptor to do it or suggest it as a theme for the Sculpting Challenge. only a few of the TFM sculptors visit this thread. most of the feedback is passed on by Malika.
@ Absolutionis. I'll push Ed and Phill to get model sizes etc. up on the web store. As for the Demon Lords, if you click on the pictures it brings ip large clearly labled images

Bocks got tired of the multipede if I'm not mistaken. The Stingwing will be sent to Ed, cast in metal after which several variants will be made. As for the brainbug, I heard that Bocks was painting one of them. I'll let you know more as soon as possible!

Next more of Kyte's, badsmiles busts, and a big, big commission along with the red coats from Ice. Triszin your in there also.
This week casting and molding all week along with getting gray resin's for the store. I want to release a few items this weekend all permitting. I am going to try like hell to get gray resins for everything cut which means cyclonus, K, rasputin, etc. Ice cutting the mutants now along with the mercs.

Nice! I have some of the old cave squigs for my warboss and runtherds but would also like to see some meaner, more detailed beasties.

Phil isn't a sculptor (though he has been considering the possibilities of producing digital sculpts) but they will be produced as more of a community effort. once the concept is a little better defined I will be running it as a theme in the sculpting challenge. eventually there are plans for multipart Kits

Ed has been very busy with the casting process, in order to make enough money he also has a day job and is doing outside commissions as well. Hence the reason why it's going slower than we would have wanted.

The Dwarf Sage is also out. You can order the fella over here for $6!
Kobarf's Demon Swarm is also out. Order them here for $8.

A small message from Technoscream:
My first installment of Junk Bots are ready.
It is designed as a multipart kit which allows you to build 5 Junk Bots and have a few spare pieces left over.
Included are:
8 Heads
5 Torsos
5 Legs/Tracks
5 Close combat arms
5 Arms with built in guns
5 heavy weapon arms
14 shoulder pads
These can be mixed/matched and posed to create many different Junk Warriors.
Pics:
Complete Kit
Close combat arms
Arms with built in guns
Heavy weapon arms
Heads
Torsos
Shoulder Pads
Legs
Legs
Example shot of what you can make (note this is from when they were still WIP)
I'd like to expand on this range in future, adding larger bots which can accomodate more than two of these arms at a time (probably 4 at a time).

Post by: Absolutionis
For the sake of some of us that would use the Junkbot parts for Ork/Marine cyborks/bionics, would you be willing to sell the legs and arms separately?
EDIT: Especially that tracked-wheel "leg" bit would be a great item for cataphractii

I don't know yet, it all depends on how things will go with the casting process. Ed will determine that eventually.

I'd definitely want a set of those Junkbots, either for cybork bits or just for fun, those are way too cool to pass up.

I'm not too sure at this stage about junk bots - I'll wait with my opinion till I see a detailed version . At the moement they look a tad toy like, especially weapons. But anyways can't wait to see how this set developes .

Agreed - but even these in a pinch, with a little modification and the appropriate paint scheme, would make good substitutes. Size wise, compared to the RT-era Robots, they're not too far off...
Especially like the track unit.

9394
Post by: Malika2
It all depends on whether Technoscream is happy enough about them (I think he will make more bits for the bigger robots) before he sends them off to Ed.
The casting process has been going slower than we all would have wanted, something we all feed a bit bad about, but Ed still has a day job and is also doing some commissions (casting if I'm not mistaken) outside of TFM to keep production going, but we are getting there slowly.
Keep your eyes on this thread for updates on the casting process!

OOh, I like the clowns...
Troll is spiffy too.
Dwarf has some nice detail, but the proportions look a little off. The left one looks disjointed due to the large gap between the shoulder and the trapezius, and the right arm is too long... I think it's mostly the forearm and the wide bracelet.

Actually Rikards Dwarf is the first (more or less) finished model to come out of the Sculpting Challenge i'm running over on the Troll Forged Forums. The first run through of the challenge finishes at the end of the month, the theme has been Fantasy Barbarians and there's been quite a few participants (including myself and Icesword amongst others).
There'll be a new theme next month with a sci-fi flavour, the specifics of which will be decided in the next week or so. It's open to anyone who's interested

Post by: MOTN
Minor elaboration: to free up Troll Forged and try and speed up the release schedule I'm going to release all my own stuff under Miniatures of the North, my own miniature provider/webstore based in the UK. Should be live for the New Year. My Imperial Redcoats will be the first release.
I don't hide the fact that my sculpts are massively influenced by 40k, they are. In terms of appearance they will probably be taken as Imperial Guard or Mechancius, or whatever, which is fine. IP will be totally avoided at all costs, and is actually desirable for me because I have my own fluff and rule sets in the pipeline which is actually very different to 40k. Future direction will be a mash of 40k, Blade Runner, Alien, Dune etc.etc. The phrase 'more 40k than 40k' keeps invading my thoughts, it's kind of like a re imagining.
Fluff probably isn’t important right now, if you see Techno Communion you should think Mechanicus and I won't insult you by trying to claim it's different. Visually, it's very close.
Stylistically I'm aiming for realistic proportions, not heroic scale. These are practically interchangeable with the Victrix Napoleonic plastic stuff which I'm a huge fan of.
This is all over the Troll Forged Forum if anyone wants to know more.

Or maybe another 40k character in variant power armour, like a bounty-hunter or Inquisitorial member? (I was thinking ala Lucius Worna from the Ravenor novels...)

Warpy is current working on an Ogre character...
This is her rough bio:
"Beatrice" Mag-Uruk
"The daughter of a powerful Ogre Warlord, Karga Mag-Uruk was exiled at an early age due to her father's rage about not bearing a son. Picked up by a slave caravan, she was captured, and sold at market in a large city of Men (Name pending). Bought by an influential nobleman - a perverted and sadistic man, she was put into the hareem, her master ever eager to sample the unforseen "delights" of all of the humanoid creations of the Gods. In time, and with a new name, she was seen as a big sister to the other girls of the hareem, a shoulder to cry on when the games their master played with them got too much to bear alone. One night however, Beatrice and a few of the hareem girls managed to break out of their cells, kill the guards, brutally castrate the man who had tormented them, and escape into the streets. They now hide out in the dark, gritty underbelly of the city, Beatrice a Mistress of her own house of carnal delights - tempting in those who desire to see the pleasures that flesh can bring, and receiving retribution from the assassin-whores of her entourage. Purses are taken, and so are lives as they bitterly reek vengeance upon those who were so similar to their tormentor who took their childhoods from them."

Iceswords stuff looks amazing Mal! The only think I don't like are the heads, just not my style although I could see them looking very nice painted up anyhow.
The tortured souls are also pretty awesome! I would just say that they really need to be refined body wise, they are effective from far but lose it up close a bit due to the cartoonishness of the sculpts at present. Getting some better facial detail, and toning down the cartoon boobs would be the place to start imho. They have fantastic potential though, for quite a few armies/lines.
Great batch this month!

Mal, I think that it would be a mistake not to release this particular version - it's a sweet looking miniature that has garnered positive comments and attention so far - would be an absolute shame for it not to become available, and would probably be quite a popular product...

We've heard similar messages in the past, Icesword's multipart Trenchers for example were on high demand, but so far they haven't sold as much as we had expected. Currently the most popular models have been Ed's own work such as the Alien Wyrm and Demon Lord kit. The latest Space Pirates are currently the most popular models.
Icesword doesn't seem fully satisfied with the Juggernaut model yet, I guess he will end up making a better version after this one, so don't worry about it then if this one won't get released. But yeah, nothing is 100% set in stone here, so let's see how it will go!

Update on Ed's Trolls:
New Troll WIP:
Ok, lots of people wanting these so I need to finish them. The child is just not suited to sculpt a bear in the polymer so for now it will be bat with big skull as a ball. Baseball theme. If the resins allow I might cut off arms and make a bear kid later. Just a reminder of the set and these are big, 70mm or so. I figure if most minis are 32mm top of head then 64mm would be 12 foot tall and trolls are around 12-15 foot tall.
Ed also started working on a new creature called a Ghast, it will be a sort of undead ghoul like creature:
