Go for it. I'll stay here in case the Eldar rebound to either of these areas.

@EF: Why not join?

We could encircle them and maybe.....

-or board them. Yes, shall request OP to grant us to board them.
-or tow them back to the next imperial naval base and hand them over for a prise...
-or start a buisness, ya know tourist may like to look at immobile Eldar ships...for a price

Perhaps it must always be the case that Eldar and Humanity coexist uneasily . . .

. . . sharing their tortured obsessions with a future they have each already failed to realize . . .

. . . all their effort bound up in the violent confusion of dominance with survival.

1) welcome back.

2) maybe less riddles ?

3) Do we still play? Do we see a final result soon ?

My sense is that you guys can still play until someone gets bored, at which point, they will be picked off mercilessly.

John, I will hand Ulthwe over to you if that's what you and others want to do.

Strategic Survivor Game One @ 2010/08/18 21:32:43

@Manchu: The last move was on the 15th, and that was just 1hadhq. The last other player was EF on the 14th, then ff on the 13th, and VS way back on the 11th.

Based on activity (or lack thereof), I recommend you close the game and call it a draw.

I have no useful move to make. I would have made one. But there is no useful move I can make.

This has been incredibly fun so far, Manchu, and hopefully has helped you with the formation of SS2. (I still think more attacks and less reinforce, but hey). I'm happy with a draw if that's what everyone else wants, but it's important that we(you ) introduce something that helps the static endgame situation, perhaps deleting empty sectors due to wreckage and the vast loss of life, nothing to fight for? Either way, been heaps of fun.

Second the call for a close thread / discuss events

Why not. Yeah lets do it. It's been fun.

At this point, 3 of the 5 players have agreed on a draw, with a 4th agreeable either way, and no response from the 5th:

Draw
+ Ulthwe
+ Cadia
+ Kraken

Abstain
~ Vostroya

Absent
* Biel-Tan (I had to go back and check)

Based on majority agreement and no dissent, I think it's safe to agree it's a drawn game.

Let's open the floor to discussion of people's overall thoughts about the game, what they liked, what they disliked, and what they would change.

I'm sure Manchu would love the feedback, and I promise to give mine after others have a chance to have their say.

As Team Survivor 2 hasn't yet kicked off, I will also be paying close attention to comments, in order to incorporate them into TS2 and TS3.

I think Kraken was a bit unstopable and it was only noticed towards the end when I got ganged up on.

If there had been a couple more Nid players backing you, how do you think the game would have gone?

Strategic Survivor Game One @ 2010/08/19 19:28:55

Post by: VikingScott

If we were allied then we probably would have been saught for more allainces. I was sought for a few.
I doubt we'd have won as our threat would have been recognised earlier.

More Nids wouldn't go nearly unnoticed, tactics have to change then or nids simply eat the thread....

The good things:

- people tried to keep it fun, even when that playstyle kills them.
- nice backstorys
- rules simple enough to play without a stop at every day to clear things.
- EF managed to play the whole story with his original army.

The bad things:

- too much reinforce, leads to a endgame that has to draw as hitting power 1 vs 1 isn't high enough to overcome healing.
- balancing of armies caused lack of said armies to unbalance the field, as slow armies like IG and nids could never "corner" a fast army.
- sign up but don't play, or start playing and stop then without any comment... IMO its not such a burden to spend a few minutes to inform the OP. Most armies left out in the cold this way had to be handed over at request of those still reading the thread.

Reinforce reduced and balancing of abilities rather than armies in TS is an improvement I would like to keep in survivor threads.
The pre set of teams / factions at some comparable strength level in TS may have restrcted the choices a bit, but saved those
having less possibly teammates from beeing outnumbered and overrun by popular choices.
SS would have benefitted from a system of available slots, IMO, as it seems easier to assume possible power levels and implement this
in the rules if you know the max of players per team/faction.

Completely agreed. The only reason Nids got to the final is because there was only one Nid player, so not a threat when everybody else was 2 or 3 or 4 deep.

Bump it to 4 Nid armies holding in one location, and they A4+4 R8 or A8 R4 all the time, that'd get people's attention in a hurry!

Also, agree with the excessive Reinforce, exacerbated by usually tying Move + Reinforce against most armies lacking combined Move + Attack.

Well, seeing as how we haven't worked out any great peace in the galaxy and haven't mustered the energy to really keep stuck in, I'll follow 1hadhq's lead and nominate (re-nominate) EF for the title of MASTER SURVIVOR . . .

If anyone (cough cough 1hadhq) wants to take ideas from this game and the StratS G2 thread to make another StratS game, I'll definitely play. I'm not making the rules, however.

For the largely similar effort in making Strat Surv 2, I'd rather work on getting Team Surv 2: Underhive moving then move on to Team Surv 3: Horus Heresy.

Either reinforce reduced (perhaps even taken off entirely except for Nids/Orks/Necrons?) or attacks boosted.
The pre set teams/factions did leave room for some truly cunnin' folks to meddle with. However, as an IG player I had a strong base anyway.
I think that players who don't keep with their factions should deal with it. The constant change of hands with some factions qas quite frankl confusing. Perhaps 1 swap max, but temp swaps or constant swaping really screw with my mind. Move it or lose it buddies.

Sorry, I didn't get a clear reading "pro", nor "against".

You won an Intarnetz!

Go for it!

I hope we didn't discourage you.
SS 1 wasn't bad, just a alpha or beta version of a game.

May consider if I can come up with something interesting.

Not sure if I am attending TS 2, maybe TS 3.

Your underhive gangers are just not yet ISM, but soon to be tested as possible aspirants

Offered to play almost anything in the other threads, but Imperium is easier to play / know thy fluff so any human character may do.
But never got into necromunda / mortheim.

Yes, SMs recruit heavily amongst the strong Gangers - which is why I was surprised you wouldn't play TS2.

Play a mutation-free, non-Psyker combat-tested Ganger, the kind that SMs would recruit. Maybe we'll see him as a SM Scout in a future game.

Trying to sell your game

We'll see if you get enough players.
Some necromunda regulars should suit your TS 2 better than a noob at such specialist games like me.

Given that TS2 will play more like TS1 than Nec, you'll have a leg up on them.

Speaking of, TS2 signups will start next week, so we'll need more players.

Those of you who didn't play TS1, please feel free to share / comment why not.
