Agreed with all the rest. What a fantastic conversion, and seamless to boot! I thought the DE sword was perfect on her, but looking at her new combi-sword, that looks pretty freakin' good! I stand corrected, good sir! Definitely feeling the John Blanche on this one.

@Prime12357 - Sorry Pete, a bit off topic. Prime, you always have the coolest gifs for your avatar-pic... what game/where are they from??

Back to the action- When can we expect some paint on this beauty? And any schemes in mind?

Jeez pdh, what a stunning figure. Yet again you manage to distil the very essence of 40k into a figure.

Wow, looks gorgeous. The only thing I would have done differently (not that I could, however) would have been to lengthen the sword handle even more, I think if a weapon has a flamer bit on it would be beefier than normal, so would have a longer grip. Otherwise she looks fething amazing! Great work.

Decided not to put anything on her left leg.

Bruticus - She is going down the same route as the other. Black Armour, Midnight blue, Fire Dragon Crimson and white for the layers of her dress.

DexterKong - turned out better than I envisioned too. A few people have suggested a red head for her so she will be pale. I know its meant to be mech construct but I'll need the skin tones to be different.

Baiyuan - I wasn't sold on the first steps either..thats why she has taken so long. Went with the ork vent because I was taking too long choosing and it was on my desk. The fuel tank was always going somewhere for the swords fuel source (originally it was going on the other side but the cherub worked better). Glad you approve of the sword.

endtransmission - Damn wish I'd seen that before I started. Cool weapon! Originally I was going to use the empire wizard's flaming sword but it was too chunky for my liking (and painting flames good is difficult).

neil101 - Obviously mate...that model is crazy.

Imperial Monkey - Well the little skull on the side of the flamer is a suspensor that is why the handle is so short because it doesn't weigh anything I agree actually but its done now so the suspensor it is.

Rogue Wolves, weetyskemian44Wow, LDD, Ghostflame, prime12357, HF Izanagi, Vitruvian XVII. Thanks for your kind words.

Since you've all been so nice enjoy something I did quickly this afternoon by accident....

This one came as a surprise to me since I was meant to be painting today . As I put the cherub's old base away and the plague priest was lying there. Well they fitted together when I picked him up. Thought about doing this conversion since I built Ecclesiarchy Priest Sonerhud. This chap is another one of his minions:

Ecclesiarchy Servitor CDLXXXIII-CA (483-CA) wip

The pic isn't perfect, which makes it look like the flamer nozzle is at a jaunty angle on the left. The flamer arm actually looks a little uncomfortable but it is meant to be mechanical so I'm not fussed.

Crikey, these are some conversions.

PDH, I started lurking on Dakka because of your scavvies, now I've just discovered this 'Odds and Ends' log and I have another 30 pages to catch up on!

Totally inspiring stuff,

Baiyuan - Exactly. I cannot remember the last time I spent just an afternoon converting/building a model. I'm sure it should tale longer.

Wow! That one snuck right up on us didn't it? Great use of the model, the simplicity is inspired. I can picture him as some lobotomized drone that shuffles around silently dousing everything with burning promethium. When you get around to painting him, I'd love to see lots of caked-on ash and soot!

Dex - Out of the blue. I feel that I should probably make his buddy Ecclesiarchy Choir Servitor CMLXXI-TS (971-TS) sooner rather than later now. That sir is a good idea! I'll be going for white robes just like on the priest so adding soot should be fun!

I was thinking something similar to Dexter about the robes, but was wondering if the cuff around the flamer should be more ragged as it's likely to catch fire every now and then (unless it's flame proof material of course)

Dammit PDH, I'm off dakka for a few days to study and here you are with two picture updates. Sorry!

Your Inquisitor first (does she have a name yet?) - she's stunning! Like Baiyuan mentioned, I wasn't originally particularly sold - I couldn't really see how the parts were going to mesh up - but she has come out incredibly, so kudos for sticking to your image. The cherub suits her perfectly, the armour is flawless and the seals flow, but it's the little details that really get me - had to really zoom in on the image, but it's things like the repairs on her hairline, the tiny details on the hilt of her sword and that teensy tiny skull you sculpted on her dress (it's so tiny! how did you even-) that really show her up for what she is. For the cabling to her sword - did you use some of Zinge's cabling? Or is that guitar string? I'd love to get somehting that gives that look and is easier to work with...

The new servitor looks great too - there's something almost flamboyant about the angle of the flamer emerging from his sleeve. Nice detail with the aquilla necklace, can't wait to see you get some paint on him.

Nice work all round Pete! Are you heading to Mol Inqvitational with the others?

Callydia Benadice is gorgeous.
I'm big fan of your style - the attention to the details and character, your remarkable precision and dedication - it's impressive and very inspiring.
Yet, I have few thoughts, though these are pretty subjective...
First, I'm not sold on this overwhelming amount of purity seals on the dress, when it's still in style, I would go with some kind of lace for more baroque and feminine feel.
Second, I'm sure she doesn't need anything for the top of her left leg - the miniature looks great already and have a lot of interesting details, so I wouldn't overcomplicate it.
Well, just my few cents. It's an outstanding work nonetheless.

Servitor looks incredible! He is very sinister and mysterious. The hood covering figures of his head and his soim body makes him look quite gruesome. And thaat flamer - *gasp* - the angle it has been put is just pure genious!

endtransmission - Hmmmm now that you mention it I rather like the idea of the robe being a little more raggedy round the flamer area.

inmygravenimage - Cheers man

Scarper - Yeah but what is the probability of getting two updates from me in a week!

The Inquisitor is called Callydia Benedice. Ah the zoom in function..shows everything more clearly (and sometimes too clearly) The teeny skull on her knee was a pain to sculpt but I had no choice since I broke off the original one when I was cutting her in half. How did I do it...with difficulty and a pin. Tiny tiny tiny ball of GS, Clay shaper to flatten it on. Left it to cure for a bit. Used a pin to poke in the eyes and nose, then push in the jaw. When dry I went back with a little more GS and shaped the sides and top of the skull a bit more.

The servitor's necklace was to hide the nurlge symbol originally hanging there.

jackanory - I love working with Resin, really nice material and the detail is lovely. I like Finecast as well, which carves like butter. Metal now is soooooooo difficult....though it is very nice to paint and hold.

ishkatar - Thanks. Her outfit is part of her "show" She is a monodominant Inquisitor, a religious psychopath in all honesty the purity seals are something that her character would where to show her piety. The top of her leg is being left.

izeColt - Yo, Hey dude didn't know you hung out in these parts. Cheers dude.

+ To: Inquisitrix Calline

+ Subject: Death of Lord Mandred

Greetings sister,

You have requested my vote at the succession of Lord Mandred, may the Emperor grant him peace. You have rallied to my aid on more than one occasion, I consider you a friend within the Conclave and I know you hold the firm and right beliefs in the philosophies of Inquisitor Goldo. But in this instance it may not be enough for me to raise my hand in your favour.

The decision we make in electing a new master will have ramifications on the entire sector. The doom Lord Dray had visited upon him is coming, I have seen the portents and heard the gibbering voices, not of their own, as heretics have burnt on my stakes. This Cable is not just an instrument to rid the sector of all the enemies of mankind. The Helios Cable will be the saviour of our Sector, be it a bastion or a precision tool. I find myself, surprisingly, against using its resources to bring fire and death to the all the enemies of our Lord Emperor. The Dark Harbringer awaits its judgement on the flaming spear of righteousness and light this Cable brings to Dalthus.

Calline you cannot count on my vote. But you will have it to prevents the narrow minded Streng or that heretic Zuul from gaining control.

Sincerely

Inquisitor Callydia Benadice

RW - Well it is a little pic. The body is the other FW plague priest ....see my response to whalemusic360 above for a picture.

Plip - Cheers. The whole project has been heavily inspired by JB. We (as in the royal) like you showing your age with confrontation references! Neil sent me the rules a while back. I doubt I'll go blue since I that may indicate mutation in her mind etc. She is definitely going to be a redhead now btw

Actually, I bought that Dirz musician at one point in order to convert it into an Inquisitor warband member. The sulpt is really nice, but he is extremely tall compared to standard 40k models. And those drums should be quite a hassle to get rid of. In the end, I passed him off to my cousin to be converted into a Dark Eldar Haemonculus...

Peter, that Cairn Wraith is a fantastic base for an Inquisitor model! Very thrilled to see what you'll be doing with it. The bar's quite high on this one though, even John Blanche took a shot at converting it

Game One

+ To: Priest Cecil Sonerhud
+ Priority: Alpha
+ Subject: Intercept

My dear Cecil,

Interrogator Ersul informs me you are now in system and returning to Dalthus Prime as requested, the timing is fortuitous. I have a mission for you that could be vital to my agenda at the succession.

47 Standard days ago Inquisitorial Savant Trarn, Master to the Helios Cables Library, left the Inquisitorial Fortress at Dalthus Prime, since then his whereabouts have been unknown. Ersul has been looking into this matter for me and has intercepted an encrypted communication from Trarn to an Inquisitor Kaled, visiting from the Alzarius Sub. The gist of the message is that Trarn believes he has uncovered pertinent information about the death of Lord Mandread, and in return for protection and safe passage from the Dalthus Sector will give this information to Kaled. The most concerning aspect to the message is Trarn no longer trusts the Dalthus Conclave. Intercept Trarn on Mantinanus and make sure this interloper Kaled does not get his hands on Trarn or the data slate he is carrying.

Regards

Inquisitor Benadice

Game Two

+ To: Mr Coop Eustis
+ Priority: Alpha
+ Subject: Damage Control

Mister Eustis,

Since Sonerhud's failure at intercepting the Trarn and stopping Inquisitor Kaled I am sending Crusader Viarchy to oversee some damage control. Your expertise will come to the fore so please start planning a mission to insert false information into the Arbite data banks on Mantinanus. I have attached information showing a secret data storage facility in the desert wastes. The central building in the compound has access to the Arbite data-looms where I want you to upload the information. I do not want you to be caught, in fact your involvement should not even be suspected.

You should expect opposition from Inquisitor Kaled now he has Trarn. I assume his actions will be covert because neither of us need interference from the Arbites. If at any point insertion of the data becomes untenable try and have the guards catch Kaled trespassing.

Regards

Benadice

I had a few games this weekend with Kaled. Always nice to have a nice relaxed game or two with a cool beer. Sods law the games had been arranged for a few weeks and so we were stuck indoors on the hottest day of the year. Oh and to reassure you all I wont be giving up the day job to become a photographer.

Nice photos, I like how clean your board and scenery looks - maybe it's the sunlight as well but your secret storage facility looks like a nice place for a holiday.

You are playing Inq28 rather than Inquisimunda right? Have you tried both games? I would love to get into them but I think they require too much knowledge of the 40k universe for my usual gaming group.

Oh, and I've noticed recently in my photos that down/pinned models keep ruining the shots with their unpainted underside-of-bases. Is it insane to think that maybe they ought to get painted?

Lovely reportage. Like Bruticus said, the scenery you're using looks great being clean and neat. They don't "eat" the details of your characters, if you know what I mean.

Just tiny critique though... I'd like to know what's happening in the photos, so some brief commentary wouldn't cause any harm, would it? I like to read battle reports and the more detailed they are, the better. Other than that, splendid job. More of this, please!

The scenery is wonderful, great to see that big rocky mechanicus piece again .. and i agree that the sandy one looks

The minis are all wonderful, glad there getting some action , off the lead from Benadice as it were. quite a treat to see them together ,

Finally got the right colour for Benadices inner dress layer....metallic navy blue! So while that is drying a quick reply.

The boards to look very clean which is partially down to the sunlight and the painting techniques I did on the buildings. The desert hills were sprayed desert like because it saved me painting the MDF gaming board lol. The desert base was lovely and warm. Shame it got dark just in time for the last photograph where I had to use flash.

Bruticus - Inq28. I've not tried Inquisimunda....I've got Nercomunda for that sort of thing Having the knowledge of 40k helps but you could even try a few games of Inq28 with Nerco Gangers, the rules are just more detailed. Rather than having a ganger called bob and if he dies oh well. Inq - You have a ganger called Bob Falon (who has some back ground) he only has three shots left in his revolver and if he goes down it actually means something to you because you only have two or three other models. The rules are also free on the GW website. PM your email address and I'll send you something interesting which might sway you into trying it.

izeColt - A more detailed battle report would have been better but I ran out of time and energy I'm afraid.

Neil - Rosber is huge, brutal but slow. Half the time he just lumps about missing his opponents. But when he hits he makes a mess. Fortunately he is pretty tough so shrugs off the wounds that land on him while he is trying to smack his opponent. I wish Benadice had made an appearance but she is taking a while to come together. But now I have the right colour for her inner skirt I am sorted

Had to ask you, how did the guards in second game played out? Did you have a GM who moved them around or did you used some random factor to work as their "AI"?

This is a thing that could be very interesting experiment of sort, "AI" in Inquisitor game. I mean, there are not that many players around to play Inq28, not to mention GM games, so having some sort of AI script to handle NPCs would be great. If I remember correctly, in Rogue Trader era there were these sheets to "program" your robot's actions for next few rounds, so could something similar work in this case?

Hey Ize.

I would prefer to play the game with a GM. But as you say having another player is sometimes tricky. We did not have a GM. The second game with the guards would have been so much better being controlled by a GM or a third player. It was quite difficult to make the interactions between them and warbands fair, though we did try for the sake of a good story. In the end the guards just got fed up with us trying to persuade them that is was the other warband who were the bad guys so they just shot at us all instead.

The rules we used for the guards movement was before the game they had set routes they would walk. At the end of each turn they moved D6 yards but on a roll of 6 they would just turn round. Other things could effect the guards movement as well which we agreed upon as we went along. eg my cyber rat got the guard to follow it for a turn before the guard got bored of looking at it. We were trying to have a good story.

Kaled, who I was playing against, brought some nifty rules along for grunts, to make them simpler to use no full character sheets to worry about. Section 2 of this: http://www.sg.tacticalwargames.net/fanatic/71aoh.pdf

Another inspiring Cairn Wraith conversion this time from Fireangel over on the ammobunker. The banner is phenomenal, as is the whole concept. I love the mouth parchment and the little spikes running up its back

As for my own work the good lady inquisitor is just a pain.....but I found this for inspiration.

Spoiler:

and maybe fourth time lucky on the colour of her inner robes.

Inquisitrix Callydia Benadice - Ordos Dalthus Hereticus - Member of the Helios Cable

As a child, Benadice was taken into the Schola Progenium, where her instructors earmarked her for induction into the Adepta Sororitas due to her smart, devout and fiery nature. Her destiny changed, however, when Inquisitor Felsenburg made an unscheduled visit to Dalthus Prime and asked the Drill Abbots for possible candidates to join the Inquisition. Felsenburg took her, along with Gillam Harrow, training them as acolytes and Interrogators over a twenty-year apprenticeship.

It was in the formative years of her training that Benadice was introduced to the Monodominant philosophies of Inquisitor Goldo. With her customary drive and passion, she embraced this philosophy whole-hearted. Over the long years she has become more interested in Inquisitor Jerminius's less well-known theses on the use of Monodomination. Benadice understands that she is the public face of the Inquisition, and that through her methods of grandiose posturing, ruthless and indiscriminate examination she strikes fear into the hearts of both the heretic and the loyal Imperial servant alike. This twofold power strengthens the Imperium by keeping the masses in line and making the potential heretic consider the consequences. While in the public gallery her methods may seem crude and brutish, Benadice has a sharp mind and her investigations are detailed and intricate.

Early in her career, Benadice considered joining the Ordo Malleus, however she chose to align herself with the Ordo Hereticus instead. Whilst she enthusiastically roots out any heresies she encounters (be they internal, daemonic or alien), she has focussed her attentions against chaos cults, and from there the daemonic. She hopes to prevent the manifestation of the daemonic before they are even summoned by small-minded petty men. Joining the Ordo Hereticus also gave her access to the mighty power of the Ecclesiarchy, which she regularly puts to use in her dramaturgy of judgement.

Benadice is a firm believer in the use of the Imperial Tarot, having employed it successfully throughout her time with the Inquisition. She also uses the arcane and religious trials and ordeals to judge the innocent from the guilty. She especially likes to use the ordeals on defendants in positions of high rank and authority; even if they are proven innocent, it can have a humbling effect. Like many Monodominants, the only punishment for heresy is death, though in recent years she has started to experiment with death-masking and arco-flagellation. Whilst not a psyker hereself, Benadice, unlike many of her ilk, has no qualms employing sanctioned psykers in her ministrations - though woe betide any witches that cross her path. She has a particular loathing for radicals within His most Holy Ordos, and on a number of occasions has hunted down and destroyed those no longer worthy to hold the position of Inquisitor.

She is done. Thank God.I'm not really happy with how the pictures came out. But I'm happy with her in the flesh (except for the skull on her fuel tank).

I'm also rather excited that I'll be playing with her at Warhammer World on Saturday. Group shots to follow the Inqvitational

OK translate to fething awesome turned out just as I had thought but better, it really is one cool looking model.

The red hair was spot on as well and the cherub looks great there on her shoulder, the flowers have turned out brilliant and give just that touch of colour difference.

Haha! Again I just caught this one before you offically posted it up on here...Wonderful mate, just wonderful!

Does her sword have burn marks on it near the flamer barrel?

Also I used the same bit that you have used for her fuel tank on a scavvy and its a small bit so to get another one of your diamond/skull motives on there is very impressive Peter! 10/10!

Looks amazing. The paint really ties all the various parts together, I like the small golden winged parts, and the hard silver edges on the carapace armour, oh and the way the red hair balances against the red skirt. The gloves maybe look a bit plain and functional compared to the rest of her equipment which is very elaborate but I can see her making a practical choice there, especially when wielding a flamethrowing sword. Looking forward to the group shots (and any action shots).

By the way, not sure if this will interest you but I read this interview earlier about a computer game that cites John Blanche's artwork as a major inspiration.

GiraffeX - But if everyone could by her I would have to come up with something else. Good luck with the GK's anyway.

lone dirty dog - The flowers were just a stroke of....lucky google image search. The hair was fun and I cannot recommend the GW Bloodletter glaze enough.

Spoiler:

Ghostflame - Oi stop cheating There are scorch marks along the top of the swords, though the purity seal washed it out a bit (Since it is a power sword I imagine that any scorching wouldn't actually stick but it looked cool). Cheers Bud.

Rogue Wolves - Ah but those aint just any thingh bones they are M&S thigh bones - The bone are actually the Thigh Bones of The Bronitan Saints (count as Hexagrammic and Pentagrammic Wards).

Bruticus - I was thinking about adding a yellow line to the gloves but I've run out of time and inclination. I'm sure some action shots will come out of the woodwork while I'm not taking my camera there will be some knocking about I'm sure. I'll have a read of that article in a bit.

whigwam - Thank you. Well the plan is to add a further 7 members to this retinue over time so hopefully I will out do myself

endtransmission - Thanks man

KrautScientist - Glad you're jealous....but I'll be borrowing a few of your ideas when it comes to making my acro-flagellant.

God dammit, every time I turn around it's another masterpiece from you. Knock it off already.

On a slightly less drowning-in-jealousy-and-envy note, I think the skin color of the cherub is my favorite part of the whole model. Which is saying a lot, because this is easily one of the best Inquisitor models I've ever seen. Next to her hair, his skin takes on a greenish tint, which is more perfect than anything I could have thought up. I'm actually somewhat grateful I've been so busy lately. Seeing you do all this stuff right means I'll be able to copy your good ideas when it comes to painting and get it done right the first time

For feth's sake, Peter, could your minis get any more amazing?! seriously, each new model is a masterpiece.

I really need to look into starting Inquisitor. I think a big part of what's been bogging down my inspiration for Necro is the confines of a gang warfare setting. While that's cool in it's own way, exploring the different characters of the greater 40k universe is really appealing for me, and you'be mastered that in spades with your unique cadre of characters here.

I really don't know what else to say without repeating what I've said before. Simply incredible work, all around. It's a true inspiration and you should be extremely proud of your efforts. You've raised the bar substantially.

Nothing to interesting regarding the name change. Just trying to get a username that is uniform across a few sites for some upcoming projects I'd like to pursue. I've got to finish my 40k army first, but I want to try and start doing charity projects.

As I said, he looked great! I literally did a double take when I flipped to page and saw him haha!

Take it over to the counter and the new manager who you have never met before and he says "It's a good White Dwarf this month. One of the models from Blanchitsu is in our cabinet." Good for the ego I tell you when you can say back "I know its mine."

LDD - No chance Mate - I had to buy two copies one for me and one for my mother who is ever so proud.

Dex - Cheers bud. Have you got any modelling done recently?

LDD - It is such a good WD too....but I do have a weakness for Daemons and Nurgle.

dsteingass - Clever...song reference.

Ghostflame - Not a chance ever. This is my hobby. This is how I relax at the end of the day. While some people would love to paint all day long and get paid for it but this is my break from my job. Besides I could never paint something that didn't interest me for someone else.

The Good Green - Forgot you guys. If it weren't for dakka I would never have shown my models off in the first place, never mind gotten into WD. I like dakka and I'm not going anywhere.

Just playing around with one of 2011's Christmas presents and getting the idea out here. Basically a floating speaker system with a good singing voice.

Eccliesiarchy Choir Servitor

This will eventually be joining the Eccliesiarchy contingent of Inquisitor Benadice's Retinue.

For Christmas this year I got a Gandalf and tiny Goblin Captain from the Hobbit box set. Gandalf will be converted to be Benadice's Sanctioned Psyker. The tiny Goblin Captain will become a pet alien (akin to a servo skull) for a gunslinger. They will feature in a Ordos Xenos warband rattling around in my head.....don't hold your breath though.

Awesome- so many great conversions coming out of that Cairn Wraith miniature... only a matter of time before I go and try my own, I suppose!

And a Xenos warband, eh? Your objection is noted, good sir, but I believe I will hold my breath... I've always wanted to see a Blanche-esque Eldar in the Inquisitor universe... Inq 54mm produced a nice big Eldar Ranger, but how does that ranger look after not having access to the proper tools to take care of its gear and weapons...

Neil - Cheers bud. It wont be finished for a little while though.

HF - And breath mate. The wraith is great and I've had this in mind for it since it came out. But not the time or inclination. I was just messing about and wanted to do something easy so just trimmed the parts and tacked them together...now back in my Inq bits box.

No Eldar planned for the Ordos Xenos warband...though I do plan on using an Eldar Ranger as a base for something. Whoot for fine cast! Following Bruticus' example I plan on using a Bolg to create an alien of the same race. One of the more bizarre ideas I am having is a floating alien made from the head of the Hell Brute and a cities of death street lamp.....but I am getting ahead of myself.

BTW I am sure the Eldar Rangers just get back in the Webway and go to the nearest Webstore when in need of some ammo and weaithbone polish

ghosty - Will do mate. The speakers were cut from the FW plague priests staff and tacked in place and as you pointed out are in need of some TLC.

inmygravenimage - Ha ha Doctor Who oh dear! I quite enjoyed the Christmas episode and I'm not intrigued as to what is going to happen in the next series.

Nah... I think I'll still keep going, despite the tingling in my extremities and the light-headed feeling I'm getting...

In all seriousness though... interesting ideas for the Hellbrute. I really like that model, (and the DV Chaos leader) despite having no inclinations to do anything Chaos-y at all. I can imagine what you're going for... effin' freaky, yo.

And a coffee-spit choke for the nearest Webstore... "Hey guys, um... I'll be back in the afternoon. I ran out of polish for my rifle and need a stick of bullets for my shuri-pistol." I was thinking they're long-retained, their capes get all craptastic, patchy, then they gotta pick up more mundane, brutish weapons of the humans, especially if they're in a tight firefight with their warband... might have to try it out for myself... and then convince you to refine the idea and produce something mindblowing with your unique matte/pasty painting style...

RW - Yeah it seems the more unlikely the thing the more likely it is in 40k.

I know what you mean about rangers. Sort of like what I did with the Eldar Sniper in my chaos yggdrassillium warband

Bruticus - Made me chuckle too. I don't fancy making that many of them though

Yea- the head in the cavity is possibly my favorite part of that mini... actually, I'm fond of nearly the entire thing except its funky backside. But yea, stick that to a lamp structure...

And yes! That's exactly it- tbh, I've only recently went back into your blog to find that Chaos band, and finally saw the conversion. That is pretty smooth... so, uh... nevermind. Carry on!

Bruticus - they aint cultists they are Beastman....or more precisely Bovigors. In my youth Slaanesh preferred his beastmen to have the heads of cows and probably liked to get head from cows.

Actually the tall one on the left is technically a Minotaur! As I have got older chocolate bars have shrunk while Minotaurs have all gotten king sized as standard.

Oh yeah I remember those beastmen fondly, but I reckon if you have a beastman in a Slaanesh cult he is a cultist as well as a beastman. I have some Slaanesh stuff planned soon involving animal headed people.

Fantasy battle Warriors of Chaos armies nowadays look really unchaotic. All organised and uniform. I always loved the way Chaos used to be more chaotic, the segregation of beastmen and chaos warriors/marauders just seems strange to me.

spudkins - Cheers

Bruticus - We played very little Mordheim, half a campaign and maybe two stand alone games. The Dark Elf player dominated and made it not so much fun. Choosing skills was also really odd coming from a Necromunda point of view....everyone ended up with Strongman skill running around with a double handed weapons. Not great, should have been a random roll imo. Choosing between BS and WS advances made sense though. We also had a distinct lack of appropriate Warhammer scenery.

I think you and your gaming group should start Mordheim when you've finished your Necro board.....and build a Mordhiem board

Inquisitor Tybalt will be trying to capture and then interrogate Falstaff to find out what he knows regarding the death of Madine, and Mandred. Inquisitor Benadice would have liked to have be joined Tybalt but she is still recovering from wounds inflicted by the Thing in The Dark.

Is the cane too much? At the moment I am concerned it looks like a pimp stick.

Bruticus - Looking forward to reading that over on your thread.

Hmmm, okay. Well I don't think it's too much, but what other options are you considering?

Skull would be the classical choice, so let's rule that out....

An eagle head maybe? That might work....

Some kind of fancy ornamental knob, maybe some kind of crystal....that could be cool, and quite original.

Something else entirely?

What were you thinking of if you were to replace it?

Actually, a trimmed down SM bike antenna would make a decent cane as well, now that you mention skulls.

The cane is great.
Inquisitors are pimps, so you can't add "too much"
But seriously it looks nice and fits an inquisitor.

Nice work with his hair also

Yes, stick with the cane and emblem, you will only have to add the symbol somewhere else any way and this is bit more unique.

Have you considered removing the neck crest ? I just think he would look better with shirt collar or some kind of collar design.

Overall the design and pose is looking sharp.

I like the cane, but not the gorget, which seems to be too "military officer" for a guy who has a snazy cane and carries around his school work.

Suggest replacing it with an aviator scarf, which should not be that hard to do, and if fringed, will tie in with his officer's sash and make that more of a fashion choice than military uniform.

Good start! I like the cane as is, personally. With book in tow in the other arm he seems somewhat scholarly. Perhaps a bionic monocle to complete the look?

Did you do the hair with liquid greenstuff? It looks like it was, but I couldn't tell for sure.

Very good start, Peter. He has a very Gentlemanny feel in him. I'd probably go with the skull pommel as I fancy cliches Maybe if the skull would be enough large, you could add some cool details to it, like long circulating tongue licking the stick etc.

Whenever the name Falstaff comes up I think of a fat drunkard elephant shrew veteran warrior. Rats Bats and Vats by Eric Flint and Dave Freer is a hugely recommended book from me. Hilarious, witty satire with a poignant and optimistic tone totally the opposite to the Grim Dark.

He's looking fantastic, PDH! Wouldn't even have needed the changed lapels, in my opinion, but kudos for going the extra mile!

Concerning the commissars, I've wondered whetherr it wouldn't be relatively easy to cut the tank one to shape, so that you could at least use the upper body for an interesting conversion? Recently got the third one from the set (the one drawing his sabre) in a bitz swap and have been thinking about what to transform him into ever since. Hmm...

Anyway, really looking forward to seeing Falstaff painted, mate!

He is beginning to look like a Mordian.....whoops. Just his head and hands to paint now. Touch up on his cane and then a little bit to the base. Fingers crossed he will be done tomorrow night so I can paint the below model for a game on Saturday

LDD - I've just realised that I have not posted the original artwork of Falstaff here but only on the Bunker:

I cannot remember who drew this Molotov did tell me ages ago. Mol used it on the cover of last years Helios Succession to represent Inquisitor Falstaff who was overseeing the Succession. It is a great bit of artwork

LDD - will have to have a look out for that book.

Karokk - My girlfriend disagrees.

DS - Mmmmm beer. More than happy for you to send me a bottle

KS - I really like the third one drawing his sabre. Will probably give him the young head from the Great Swords sprue...or leave him as is shock horror! I am not feeling the tank commander for a conversion. Tell you what if you send me "one of many" by the end of the month I will send you the tank commander and something random.

Monkey - Cheers.

Antebellum - Thanks

monkeytroll - Forgot to say I originally tried the coat in black but it really didn't work for me.

Commander Cain - If it makes you feel any better I am kicking myself over the "smoothness" of the lapels.

inmygravenimage - make me feel bad why don't you.

LDD - The drawing has a great naval vibe to it so really should have gone with blue to begin with.

IPS - Aye. Happy with him and I think/hope Molotov was too.

KS - The blending of old and new is the most important part of the conversion. Will head over to your blog after this. You know what I thought I had left a comment....not that unrelated since we are definitely in the same ball park.

GiraffeX - For the last few years I have been very happy how they turn out. I generally have to paint them during the day when I am not tired. Of all the mini's I have done these two scavvies are my favourite faces:

Spoiler:

Ghosty - No problem at all for you my friend

Black Undercoat
Base Necron Abyss and a little black
Highlight - add more Necron Abyss
Highlight - add a little Mordian Blue
Highlight - add a little more Mordian Blue
Wash with thinned "The new Blue Wash whatever it is called"

Llamahead - will check out that book when I have a minute. Working my way through the Honourable Schoolboy sequel to Tinker Taylor Solider Spy, and it is really tough going not really enjoying it but want to find out what happens at the end....perhaps I should just read the last chapter.

HF Izanagi - I built him as a gift for Molotov for arranging last years Inqvitational - The Helios Succession. Falstaff is an NPC who will make an appearance at this years Inqvitational - The Sins of The Master. As for a retinue.. not specifically but he might get a couple of chaps if required.

That's... that's... just everything you construct looks like that's the way the model was made in the first place. I'm sorry if that's not a very coherent explanation, but I'm sazzled by awesome.

Karokk - This was an awkward base model. It has a really thin waist and looks odd. I bought it a while back and just thought it was going to fester in my bits box. Seeing your Inquisitor, made from the other warrior priest, really inspired me to look at this figure again. All the stuff round his middle is just to bulk him out. The head is from the Catachan Heavy Weapons team with the bandanna shaved down. He is an NPC for the Inqvitational 2013...though I have become quite attached to him this afternoon so I hope he lives.

inmygravenimage - Coherent and a massive compliment. Cheers.

Llamahead - The gun is from the Chapter Serf from the 40k Starter boxset - Ultramarines vs Nids. This guy needed a brutal looking gun and I think this works.

I would really love FW or GW to release a human sized gun sprue of various gun patterns....would be such a boon.

Will you post some pics of the red haired priest you made for the Ygg event? He looks amazing. I feel he should be called Prunesquallor with those giant glasses.

The new inquisitor is looking good, the catachan heavy weapons team is a good source of bits, much nicer than the catachan infantry. That head is great.

Bruticus - The Command and the Heavy Weapon teams are much much better than the Infantry.

Two Spartan - Bits and Kits and my friend Martin are the answer to the bits supply.

nathanie1 So toy like that pose....hmmmm I was not so sure and have been considering this move of the head:

I think both poses look good. Along the gun looks more action while along the sword looks more commanding.

One thing I would change is I would add square toecaps to his boots, those pointy sabatons don't look quite right for a space faring 41st millennium man.

Dam late to the party again however not that it matters but I would have chosen pose one as well.

Pose 1 flows better the second pose looked slightly tense and made his sword look as if it was to heavy for him.

So Good choice

I did some quick googling on sabatons but didn't find out why some are pointed, maybe it was just fashion. But I think that spiky toes always look very fantasy, more suited to riding a horse than doing 40k things, plus it implies he has a full suit of armour on under his robes which also seems very medieval. You could just trim off the toe point slightly and it would work as some sort of sci-fi armoured boot. Or you could go the whole hog and swap his feet with some hefty space boots. Or you could just ignore me, it's a great model as it is.

I didn't even notice that he had sabatons on at first but now that I see it I have to agree with Bruticus, they don't fit very well with the rest of the character. You could probably just remove the pointy part and make them thicker with some GS. When I converted my warrior priest model I simply cut the feet of and replaced them with some IG feet.

Mol, Bruticus and Karokk you are all despicable - I totally ed up widening and blunting his Sabatons. He now has standard issue Departmento Munitorum - Cadian Designation boots V2. On a positive note it has made him a little taller and when he is on his actual base he will also be more upright.

On the drawing "Trask" has what I took to be candles coming out of his back, so I added the Reliquary and am very happy with how it turned out.

He is done and tomorrow he shall get under coated.

Nathaniel - Not guitar wire. It is wire wrapped cable from the ever reliable and impressive Zinge Industries http://www.zinge.co.uk/

You will never use guitar wire again when you have used wire wrapped cable...so flexible and does not fight you at all.

On a separate note wont this be brilliant for an Inquisitor Conversion http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440004a&prodId=prod2000079a. Replace the bow etc with a gun. Power Axe head on the spear. Little =][= instead of hearts. Needs a head swap which will need thinking about....

megabambam - That is the freakiest request I have ever gotten off the internet and I have had some weird pop ups appear while doing perfectly innocent searches

Krauty - Afraid I've only got eyes for Neil . Well I've had enough of Inquisitors, though Trask's Interrogator is flitting around my subconscious, and I am moving onto villains soon... The Butcher of Balemire, Mind Gnasher and Salia Veeta appearing at some point.

First though I will be painting this model....no conversion and it is not for a game either. Just for fun and it is stunning.

Fair enough, fair enough: I'd marry people for less than being able to come up with such fantastic gaming tables

That warrior priest is indeed fantastic! You know they have to be on to something when the corresponding 40k model looks pedestrian by comparison. I couldn't even tell you my favourite detail about the model: Is it the raven skull? The skull with melting candles on top on his shoulder? Or that brilliant facial expression?

Anyway, looking forward to seeing your paintjob, although seeing you paint a totally unconverted model will seem strange, somehow

Oh, on a totally unrelated note, I noticed your Inquisitor Haxtus next to Zuul on some of Marco's pictures -- does that mean the two are BFFs now?

For a while I have been thinking about threats and villains in the Dalthus Sector. But since the Inqvitational and Tear's wonderful Eldar I have been thinking even more about the villains Inquisitors should be facing, rather than just fighting each other. So with that in mind plus Tears and Bruticus as inspiration I have taken knife to plastic and started. I am planning on building and painting these three villains I came up with as contact cards:

I hope that down the line I will be able to have a game with Mind Gnasher vs Virasson and Salia Veeta vs Tsengir. Cordatus has a links to The Butcher via Master Gingrich.

First up Salia Veeta whose parts have been sitting in my bits box for quite a while. She will be accompanied by a once bound daemon host and a dwimmer crafty. Plus perhaps some assassin sorts.

Salia Veeta WIP

I really want to jump on the band wagon but don't have the knowledge or the talent as you guys.
Nah that is a poor excuse. Hop to it! Check out the Inq28 section on the Ammobunker its all good fun for all abilities. Surely you must have a couple of ideas? Plus you have been wargaming since 1985 you must know something?!

Manus - Cheers

weety - Thanks

Llamahead - The scavvies have never been used in Necromunda....but on a number of occasions have been put to good use as villains and NPC's for Inq28

The scavvies here are mutant rebels attempting to buy weaponry from a rogue trader (yep minis donated to the cause by JB). I have more pictures of this game perhaps I should post them?

neil101 - If only Amber knew that your tastes were changing. But I'd say Monkey and Scaps are good choices....I'm still going to burn my eyes out at the images of the bbq. The Butcher is from the Nurgle Warhammer book Liber Chaotica....I thought you had a copy.

I have to say it is tempting to join this crazy venture but I have this tendency of wanting to use other manufacturers parts, which I gather is a no no

Also how do you know I have been into wargaming since 1985

SelvaggioSaky - Cheers

LDD - Like GiraffeX I'm stalking you too...but I'm posting this from the bushes outside your house.

You have a profile - Dakka doubles as a dating site.

We play at Warhammer World so it would be rude to use other companies parts... this is all set in the Games Workshops universe so its best to support that and the company. Nothing wrong with you using other companies parts but for me and my gaming group it would be inappropriate. Plus on the whole I think GW/FW have the best kits.

WE NEED NEW GW ZOMBIES!

LOL bush trimmed no where to hide now Dakka doubles as a dating site now that is disturbing When you said you met up to play games

There are some nice GW kits but they have produced some really ugly stuff lately as well.

But as you play at Warhammer World fair is fair, although I wish they would be more like they used to be years ago ,but thats business I guess

great miniatures, you´re a great inspiration to the newbies like me, I hope someday i get to be that good

PD: yeah, we need zombies!!!!!!!!!!! really, i allwais miss some zombies on nurgle armies, but the only one right now are the ones from the vamps and they´re both used too much and not very nurgle-looking (they aren´t bloated or huge, making a left4dead metaphore, nurgle looks more like a boomer and spliter while vampire-zombies are similar to hunter or the normal ones), so that´s a good problem

I think the zombies need to look like Blanche zombies - like those from the front of the Corpse Cart

Personally Zombies are one of the things I'd get from Mantic. However got to agree new ones would be nice.
