We did indeed pack 100 boxes... there will be a whole lot going in the mail Monday morning! I had planned to take a witty pic post packaging but ended up too tired, will be making an official update Mon or Tuesday so will include one then. Suggestions appreciated (my first thought, holding baby while packing ).
Also for those of you who already have them, if you snap a pic of your built cubes (on their own or in use) I will get it into the update, too!
I wish I had backed soon enough to get the "First to Ship" option... we had game night on Friday and the cubes would have been awesome for Imperial Assault!
Oof, sorry we missed it Scooty! Even more frustrating about malfred's since he PM'ed me earlier this week and I was sure we got it out in time - but the post office had other ideas . You're right though malfred, they take some thought to put together so probably not something you'd do the same night you planned to use them! Some guys at my local store did, but then again, I've been showing off the ModCube to them all through development so they're like old hands now
Really looking forward to seeing how you configure them for your trolls! If you get a pic of them up before Tuesday I'll include it in the update with a link to your blog, of course. Cheers!
Huge batch going in the mail tomorrow, so a ton more US folks will have them this week.
Cheer malfred . You're clearly a seasoned warmachine player with the way you color coded the cubes for ease of use, I will definitely be using that pic tomorrow. For myself I can't wait to use mine so I can keep track of which of my 20 croak raiders decided to aim and which are knocked down (from witch doc giving them tough), have caused corrosion on an enemy model, or set them on fire (that's 4 faces of my main cubes already!)
I had you down for 4 sets (a set is 8 cubes, 9 for the Kickstarter):
16 black cubes
16 red cubes
4 blue cubes
2 sets of white-on-black Warmahordes tokens
2 sets of metal-on-black Warmahordes tokens
It looks to me from the pic like you should have 6 cubes leftover after what you've built. If you ever want to reconfigure, you could stretch one of your red subsets to a new type by building them half-black, half-red (given the pic I think you're probably down to mostly black halves, though, so you'd have to "decube" a few as you put it ).
You're right . I think your post generated some interest as we got some messages through the site about the warmachine sets! Directing everyone interested to just wait until mid-November - we'll have the webstore up within a month.
RiTides wrote: You're right . I think your post generated some interest as we got some messages through the site about the warmachine sets! Directing everyone interested to just wait until mid-November - we'll have the webstore up within a month.
Yas! Head hunter bonus!
Hehe, I kid. I'll order more when the store is if my experience with them at WMW is good.
If, as someone argued, they just get in the way then I'll go back to little chits I lose track of.
Let me know how it goes malfred! My problem was always exactly that - losing track of chits and scrambling for them. So I hope they serve you well and I'm looking forward to testing mine with a warmachine game once shipping is finished (holding that out as a reward to myself for getting through this final push!).
Shipping update 2 - over 500 packages sent, 195 to go!
Here is where we are at in our shipping queue:
- 195 "First to Ship" packages to all over the world - Shipped! - 106 EU packages - Cleared Customs and arrived at UK Distributor - 61 ROW packages - Shipped! - 155 US packages - Shipped! - 195 US packages - Packaging in-progress
In our prior update we said the EU packages were shipping by sea - but due to a bit of a mixup, they were returned to us and so we bit the bullet and shipped to our distributor by air! They've already cleared customs in the UK and will be on their way to their final destinations by the start of next week.
For the US packages, 100 just shipped yesterday! Most of the ROW packages shipped on Monday (customs forms took forever!). So, there are quite a lot of packages in-transit, and hopefully more folks will be showing off their ModCube sets soon! Here are a few more pics from folks who already received theirs:
All of those "half color" cubes make us happy =) as that was a neat unintended effect of having so many colors! Black works really well for this (with any other color). The above pics are from Ramos Asura of Rollin' All Ones Studio, Bobb Beauchamp on Facebook, and malfred of the Poke Miniatures blog. You can see his full writeup on the ModCubes here: http://pokeminiatures.blogspot.com/2015/10/mod-cube-kickstarter-part-1-of-2.html
Finally, we'll leave you with a picture of the current packaging "ground zero", and "Walter White" making sure we don't get any "bad breaks" while shipping our ROW packages earlier this week
We have been pushing hard to try to have all of the packages shipped by next week. With 195 to go, it's ambitious, but we're going to do our best to make it happen! The absolute latest any package will ship is November 9th. We will put micro updates in the comments section next week showing where we are at.
When you get your package be sure to watch this quick 1:30 video showing how to put the cubes together and take them apart, it makes it easy: https://youtu.be/g3yy3_dO4yI
Mymearan - Somehow I missed replying to this, my apologies! Yes, we are definitely open to making AoS tokens, although the only one I'm absolutely committed to making at the moment is Heavy Gear dice, because they just seem to beg to be ModCube'ed
I've also had a lot of folks PM'ing me about those and patiently waiting when I tell them we'll get to it after the Kickstarter sets!
Thanks for the PM Stormwall, and no worries . And no, that's not me pictured lol
Micro shipping update - The final portion of the EU packages have shipped from our UK distributor, we shipped another 50 US packages today, and unfortunately had missed 8 ROW packages (had packed but not shipped them) and so those went in the mail, too. We've got about 150 to go - planning to get 50 more in the mail this week, then marathon this weekend and get the last 100 sent on Monday!
Yes, of course . It has actually really helped to have played the games for each set! On the ones I haven't (or haven't much), I've luckily had great advice from players (a few backers in the case of Infinity and DnD, and local players for Malifaux and Guildball).
That's fantastic Orlando! I was thinking I might hear when yours came since you are so active on Kickstarters . Two other UK folks posted that they got theirs today in the comments, too!
Getting close to completion - although that comes with a few things like having sent a miscast cube to Singapore, so replacing that will cost wayyy more than the cube itself! Happy to do so of course, just facepalming myself (or Jorge!!) for putting it in there... Very likely me
Nah, Jorge is the reason we have a chance at finishing close to on-time (aiming for Mon/Tues for these last shipments!). Will have to make a thorough "thank you" update since we've had so many people chip in, it has been really incredible! Including Wehrkind quite heavily during the prototyping phase before we revealed the project.
ModCubes were a hit at the Gaming Convention yesterday. I got a lot of comments on them, especially the objectives set!
RiTides sent an X-Wing Set for me to give the winner of the tourney I ran; the eventual winner was very, very happy with his prize!
Cheers, Anpu and notprop! One of our backers got to use his ModCubes at X-wing worlds and I'll put a pic in the update tomorrow. That update should also say we've shipped the last box... so close I can taste it!!
We will still need to track down a small number of folks who didn't get their surveys in - will get a list of those up likely the following week. This week, I'm going to treat myself to a trip to the FLGS to use my own ModCubes (on Wednesday after that last box is in). Then it's on to getting the website ready for the end of the month retail launch!
Must again congratulate you on an excellently well run campaign. Really love using these in game and will be expanding my token sets once you've got retail up and running.
Raven911 wrote: So are these things ready for regular purchase yet or what? I can't find them on anything but KS. Which is getting damned annoying I might add.
Its hard enough waiting for a kickstarter to ship. It's tough waiting for a kickstarter that you missed to go retail. RiTides just finished shipping the KS, and has mentioned that the storefront will go live sometime in the next few weeks.
RiTides wrote: malfred - Ack, did someone grab it for you / is there a lost and found possible?
Thanks Eldarain just one more night of packing to go...
I mean I left them on the table at home. Didn't get to try them lol
I'm puzzled why you don't have some sort of man-bag/purse/clutch to keep them in?
That way you would always remember them and look snazzy too!
I bought a big dicebag from Inkedplaymats because things don't fit in the plano that I used to store my 40k accessories. My X-wing fit in the dice bag that I won at a store tourney last summer (score!).
Raven, Anpu has it right - there will not be a long delay from the last KS package shipping to the store launching. Update looks like it will be tomorrow now, but we'll give more details on the store launch then!
As wargamers, do you guys have suggestions for the timing on that? We need two weeks to get it ready, so that puts the launch options somewhere between November 23rd and 30th... with Thanksgiving right in between for US folks! I'm not sure whether it would be good to go up before or after - likely before, if we can be ready by the 23rd?
I would launch it before. Even with "black Friday" deals now being strung out over the course of the weekend, that Friday is one of the biggest retail days of the year.
Not saying you need to throw an immediate black Friday deal but you do want to have your product available on that day.
Just checked and yours is in this last wave, keltikhoa - I am guessing it will arrive Monday with the timing we've seen from first class shipping (although it would be great if it made it by the weekend!).
As a bit of a KS addict, I know it is not cool to see too much on a normal release if I'm still waiting on my stuff! So, I'll put the dates we're targeting for the store launch in the update tomorrow, but just want to emphasize that right now the focus is making sure this last wave of packages arrives safe and sound, and it also contains most of the large orders!
If anyone has issues receiving their package we'll replace it, and while we'll be working on the store in the background a lot next week, the first priority will be fixing any orders that went awry. Will also be trying to track down those who didn't submit their surveys next week.
You then use the red target lock symbol to put next to the enemy ship, and the above cube with your ship, cycling between your different states (for example, if you got your Target Lock last turn and now do a red maneuver, you turn it to Target Lock / Stress).
This configuration is missing Target Lock / Evade, but I find that I do not do that very often - I usually Focus if I have an action, so I can have a chance to use the Target Lock (otherwise, I messed up!) or get Stressed if I need to pull a red maneuver. I find this config is really good for "basic" ships. For Phantoms, just swap in Cloak instead of Target Lock.
If you have a trickier ship, another option a few local players are trying is using their normal target lock tokens instead of putting them in the cube, and using the cube for everything else. This would free up several faces for things like Ion, the new Tractor Beam token, two Focus tokens, etc. For myself, I tend to build 6 cubes like I laid out above, then build my last few cubes with alternate things like Ion.
We will also get some suggested layouts on the website in December, as it has been the most requested info! Will likely be pinging Dakkanauts for their ideas on that for sets I don't personally play
I'm still waiting on mine and would have no problem if you went live with the store right now. Still kicking myself for choosing FSA over X-Wing, so want to rectify that sooner than later.
Triple - I just sent you a PM, your box is actually in the batch going to the post office today and I was able to swap the tokens
Cincy - Thanks, I really appreciate it!
Notprop - Nice! And yeah, there is a learning curve but the good thing is, muscle memory kicks in and you should be able to do it much easier once you have the hang of it . They also stay together like a boss once assembled, which we decided to err on so you can toss them around freely. I also hope to make an edcuational version of these, where the teacher could assemble them as learning aids, in which case they really don't want the kids getting them apart and scattering tokens everywhere!
Most of the last batch are going in the mail today, with 25 left for tomorrow (ran out of ModCube tools when packing!). Those will be Priority Mail to make up for the additional day delay, so should hopefully arrive the same as if they went out today.
Edit: It is Veterans Day here in the US, but I forgot that meant the post office is closed... So, all going in the mail tomorrow!
I got my Modcube Order (2x8 Cubes) today and I also get the whole X-Wing Plates with it. After I show up all the Tiles I'am a bit confused about to how I have to assembly all these Plates with the Cubes in a smart way so it will make sense for gaming. Is there Anyone how have assemblied allready these Cubes and can give me some advise in wich order I have to do it.
btw. please tell it me in a simple way, cause my english is not the best. Thank you so much.
Gruss dich, Thameno.
What makes sense for each cube really depends on the game you are playing and the type of units that you are playing with.
I have X-WIng, so I'll make some suggestions there.
For example, if I were making a cubes for my Tie Swarm (which don't have target lock):
Evade
Focus
Stress
Evade/Stress
Focus/Stress
5/6 sides are full. I might add something like Ionized.
If I was building a dice for an X-Wing, which has no evade:
Blue Target Lock
Focus
Stress
Focus/Stress
Focus/Blue Target Lock
Stress/Blue Target Lock
Some ships (those with large action economy, like Fel or Whisper) actually require TWO dice.
My dice for Fel
Dice #1 Dice #2
Evade Evade
Focus Focus
Stress Stress
Stress/Stress Focus/Focus
Stress/Focus Focus/Evade
Ionized (Oh NO!) Stress/Evade

We are happy to announce that shipping is now 99% complete! The final few boxes to go out are shown below:
Note how big some of these are - a lot of the higher pledges were the last to go out due to the complexity of the orders. We really appreciate your patience! Everything is now shipped except the following:
--- The follow-up token sets for the "ModSubscribers". I'll be emailing each of you individually about these - in your package is a "sample" bag showing each token color so you can decide what you want for your remaining token sets =). All of your cubes are also in your packages!
--- The Deadzone token sets. We were waiting on the beta rules for Deadzone 2.0 to make this, and will ship those tokens separately to each backer who selected it. If you would like to receive a different token set sooner, just let us know!
--- A small number of folks who didn't return their surveys - we'll be trying to track them down next week.
Folks who have already received their ModCubes have been sending us pictures from around the world, here are a few of our favorites!
First, backer Frank Forte got to use his ModCubes at the X-wing Worlds! Here is a pic from an epic team game where he and teammate Ira faced the Dutch and French National Champions. To quote Frank: "We got destroyed but it was a lot of fun." And they looked good doing it!
Finally, another X-wing picture, this time from Gustavo Albuquerque in Brazil! He runs an amazing YouTube channel and uses the ModCubes in his games on it, too =) https://www.youtube.com/user/xwingbrasil
Last but not least, the most common question we've been asked is "When will the webstore open?", which is a fantastic thing to hear =). It will be open by the end of the month, targeting either "Black Friday" or "Cyber Monday". Stay tuned for another update on this as it gets close!
Until next time!
Thameno, I will send you a PM about the configurations! I posted my preferred basic configuration for X-wing here (with the key being, you use only the BLUE target lock tokens on your cube, and save the RED target lock token to place by itself next to the enemy ship). We will also be getting suggested configurations up on the website as well - definitely by December, and hopefully sooner for popular sets like X-wing
My cubes came just a few moments ago. So glad you put up your basic configuration, because I opened the box and said "hmm, why didn't I think about how to configure them the last few months"
99% done? That's only 1% more than Palladium's Robotech kickstarter... two and a half years ago and counting. How did you manage to get that extra 1% done in less than a few years?
In all seriousness, congrats on the successful looming completion of the rewards and the upcoming webstore. Does that mean traditional distribution is next up?
Every time I break out my ModCubes, they get a lot of attention. Happened again yesterday. I keep referring people to your website, and I hope to see the store up soon.
Promotional ModCubes had actually crossed my mind (could even be used for another company's logos / info, for instance!) but very much focused on the webstore atm! Word of mouth has been great, thank you Anpu and I will be sure to send you some business cards when we get new ones in, hopefully in December!
Got mine in the mail today! Look great and easy to assemble. I will add some gaming photos when I get a game in... or get Maelstroms Edge... whichever is first lol.
I've had mine for a couple of weeks now, but due to work going crazy along with small children and renovations, have not had a chance to post.
I found them easy to assemble. Although I haven't had to do any half tokens yet. The unassembled bags are for Maelstrom's Edge, so once that arrives, I'll find out if my fine motor skills are up to the task. I'm betting not without some swearing.
Haven't had a game so can't put up any action shots, but here is my pile.

I may have gone a little modcube crazy at ordering time. Not pictured is another set of yellow and black cubes and all the spare tokens and modtool etc.
In my defence, a couple of the sets are for a friend.
Awesome pics, malfred and varag! Will get both into the next update
Great that yours arrived, keltikhoa! Varag, the half tokens are a little more challenging, just remember to keep the cube halves pretty far apart and you can tilt in one and then the other quite easily (if the cube halves are too close together, it makes it a little harder). I prefer to put them on the sides rather than the two end faces, too.
I'm going to make an update before the store goes live listing out those who didn't return their surveys, so hopefully they'll see it or I'll try to track them down other ways... it's going to be around 25 or so folks in the end (not bad out of over 700 orders!).
Last update before the webstore launch on Cyber Monday!
Happy Thanksgiving! Missing Surveys + Store Launch Monday!
Happy Thanksgiving to our amazing backers!! To our non-U.S. backers, we are so thankful for you as well =) even though we know you don't celebrate "turkey day". Personally speaking, I have so much to be thankful for this year! You backers are very high on that list, and we all appreciate so much that you would join in with us on launching this project and product =)
We have two items to cover in this update - missing surveys, and the store launch!
Missing Surveys
There are only 13 missing surveys at this point, but we want to make sure you all receive your packages! Those backers are:
Chris Moyer
Dennis M.
Donald Duck (Dakka nickname: Piston Honda)
Keegan Butler
Kody Sandel
Larry Lutrick
Mark Alden (MooseMCA)
Nathanial Slivka
Robert Gagnon
Steve Kennedy
Jon Jay
Leon O.
Michael Sage
We have sent emails to each of these backers (sometimes multiple emails) in addition to the automated Backerkit reminders, but haven't heard back from them. If you know any of them, please let them know we need their information to fulfill their pledge!
Late Submissions / Replacement Packages
These 11 backers submitted their surveys after fulfillment began, and will have their packages sent on Monday: Bobby Olsen, Brendan Tidey, Chad Mauch, David Biel, Garrett Lang, Jack Koziol, James Ho, Mike Keller, Neil Denton, Spat Oktan, Zach Weisman.
Also, these two packages were returned to us and are being re-sent: Damjan Miladinović, Luis González Galeano. An additional two packages did not arrive and are being re-sent to: Christian Meyer, Lauri Marx. Both of those lost packages are to Germany, so let us know if there's something we can do to improve on that!
Finally, anyone who contacted us in the last few weeks about replacements for missing items will also have their shipment in the mail on Monday!
Webstore Launch!!
We are really happy that many backers have been asking about the webstore launch, it is fantastic motivation! We will be working like crazy to finish getting it ready this weekend, to launch this coming Cyber Monday. Update to come as soon as it is live!
Finally, here are a few more pictures of ModCubes in use from around the globe =). First from Varag in Australia, a very nice group of colors!
Next from Thomas Bassett, with his ModCube-weilding rebel alliance flying into the teeth of the Imperium... STAY ON TARGET:
Finally, Malfred of the PokeMiniatures Blog ("gotta paint 'em all!") has a pic of his whole army knocked down
We'll see you again on Monday with an update for the launch of our webstore. Until then!
Will be putting up a thread in N&R tomorrow and let this thread continue to focus on any remaining KS fulfillment (the few packages that needed to be re-sent and the late survey submissions, etc). Let me know if you have any issues with navigating the site - one of our Brazilian backers mentioned it doesn't redirect for him, in which case this is the direct url: https://modcube.myshopify.com
Thanks guys . I've got the N&R thread up, so anything pertaining to the webstore let's talk about over there although folks can still post in here regarding Kickstarter items. I think this thread might be a little long and intimidating for new folks so figured it'd be better to start a new one!
A little slow, but a decent trick for getting the half sides not to fall out when assembling the cube is putting just a little bit of scotch tape across the back to keep the one from falling out. while you close it. A little poster tack might work too.
Site looks great! Am I correct in understanding that 8 cubes + token set for them costs 15$ x 2 (30$)?
Nice trick, Wehrkind! And yes, that's right - it's the same price as on the Kickstarter for a single set, and the price for two sets ends up being about the same too because free shipping on the website kicks in (there is no single cube of a different color, though - that was a special Kickstarter bonus, as it adds a lot to the workload of picking / packing orders!)
Let me know if folks would like to see a discount for higher quantity orders, as that's the one thing that is missing right now when compared to Kickstarter prices.
It's been amazing the boost in orders we've gotten since the first article above went up yesterday, so if you have time to make a nomination for us we would really appreciate it
One nice use I found for ModCubes is supporting models partially on the standard 1" hill found at game stores. I switched away from Casino dice and hadn't really thought much about how to keep top heavy metals from falling over, but it turns out the 6-7 ModCubes I have are perfectly sized. I am sure RiTides would like to claim that as foresight on his part, but even if just happy coincidence, there it is!
Polonius, I definitely want to create a KoW set! I will send you a PM asking about some of the details as that's always the hardest part, working out what should go in a set!
tried to nominate the MODcubes on Beast of Wars website, but kept getting an error code when I was submitting. I'll try from a different computer later tonight.
I really think we'll get on the ballot with all the nominations we've received so we'll be asking for your "real votes" when that time comes
Back to getting out the Christmas orders out, we got 10 yesterday with some of them being 6 sets, so that adds up quickly! Hoping to have them all shipped out by tomorrow morning, and will be upgrading most domestic packages to Priority Mail this week to make sure they get there before the holidays.
There are a number of categories to go through, and if you'd like you can vote for them all . If you're unsure, at the bottom of each you can click "No Vote" to skip to the next page. Entering your email on the last page is completely optional, just be sure to hit "submit"!
We also have a huge announcement coming tomorrow regarding custom token sets - more to come in the a.m.
I just put out a "Go vote!" update on Kickstarter as well, and included a teaser image of the custom token service we'll be unveiling tomorrow . Here's that teaser:
For folks who have been asking us for sets for games that aren't on offer yet, this is a great chance to get exactly what you want . Once you download all the files you want following the instructions at the link above, putting the first piece of art into place on the grid takes just seconds:
You can then just copy it over into however many grid spaces you want, then move to the next design! After you're finished, send it to us and we'll have your custom set cut and shipped within 1 week or will toss in a free cube per set to make up for it!
We think this adds a ton of utility to the product, so if you haven't voted in the Beasts of War poll for us yet, please take a second and vote at the link below if you love our stuff

We've also been trying to decide if running a promotion for people who post that they've gone and voted (not necessarily for us!) would be kosher. Something like "Post that you've voted either here, on Facebook, or in the main BoW thread, and you'll be entered for a drawing of a free set of ModCubes and tokens of your choice shipped anywhere in the world (two winners will be chosen after voting ends)!"
What do you think? Anyone who already posted would be eligible too, of course, but just want to make sure it wouldn't cross any lines. If it seems like it would, we would instead run a contest for people who post here or on Facebook later (early February), unrelated to whether they've voted or not. Thoughts appreciated!
Thanks Nevelon! I think it will be fine as long as we note (as we will!) that folks don't have to vote for us, just post that they've gone and voted in the poll . I've run it by someone at BoW to check and make sure!
If it works out we'll be announcing it officially on Monday, and would count any folks posting that they've voted before then too, of course!
Voting link is in my sig now for ease of access, too
I wouldn't run that promotion. It will pretty quickly turn into "X% off for everyone who lies, nothing for those who tell the truth!" Better have a "We placed ____ in the best gaming accessory contest! X% off celebration!" sort of deal, where you get to advertise your placement (assuming it is not last ) and so encourage people to buy in with that accolade.
Yeah you are probably right! I'd rather stay far away from any grey area so we'll likely run it after things end . Thanks for the perspective, Wehrkind!
RiTides wrote: Yes, we'll do exactly that . Thanks for the feedback guys, a bit of sleep deprivation here so it really helps to get outside input!
Is that due to THAT OTHER PROJECT , it needs companion pieces, but I suggest them not being interchangeable , there's laws against that. You'll get sleep in a few years, then you'll need to bank them for when they become preteens
Yep and making some custom sets, getting retail packaging ready, etc! Plus something secret in the works that we'll hopefully reveal more on later in the year
We are all dug out after Snowzilla - one of the first things to rescue was our blower (exhaust for the laser cutter) which we dug a path to through the white madness (note the barely visible bench below!).
This enabled us to get back to laser cutting yesterday, and all the orders from last week went in the mail today! It has been really encouraging to see repeat names from Kickstarter backers placing orders =) so thanks so much guys!!
This is also the last chance to vote for us in the Beasts of War poll for Best Wargaming Accessory of 2015! It takes just a few minutes, and you can skip the other categories if you like =). Link is below!
If you loved our product, we'd be eternally grateful for your vote =)
Also, there are a few things to look forward to coming up for the ModCube - we'll be cutting a ton of sets to bring with us to AdeptiCon, releasing a new set next month, and are talking to a few companies about making custom sets for them! So stay tuned!
A ton of thanks to you Dakkanauts who have already voted for us it is a huge help!

Voted. Do your part for this great product, guys and gals.
If you've bought some a vote for them is obvious. If you haven't bought any... Wait, what the hell? Go buy at least one set! These things are fantastic!

There's your 'back of the box' testimonial right there!
That's actually a great idea, Alph . We're good friends with the folks at Doublesix, and they've got a huge page on their site where they gathered quotes from happy backers (and now new customers, they went live just before we did!).
I'll put adding a Testimonials page to the site on "the list"
Guerrilla Miniature Games has posted an awesome Battle Report featuring the ModCube! He shows them off just after 4 minutes in and you can see how useful they are throughout the game, a really nice bat rep
We've also gotten a review in from the Man Battle Stations blog (run by Dakka's own Ruckdog!) which shows how he made his custom set for Dystopian Wars - and actually inspired us to offer our custom service! A very fun, quick read:
http://www.manbattlestations.com/blog/2016/01/22/modcube-product-review/
Have you contacted Mantic about doing a TWD cube??? If i get into the game I could see needing extra dice (or markers to show effect) for really large games.
That's a good idea, Theophony! We'll actually be posting in the Mantic section here to get some feedback on the very last set we need to circle back to from the Kickstarter, and that's Deadzone (since the rules were in flux when we shipped the rest! We'll be shipping these separately to all who selected them).
AdeptiCon just announced that they'll be giving out 20 sets of Dogfight tokens to participants in their X-wing events! Full announcement here:
X-wing players - Modcube is stepping up to the plate and 20 lucky participants will receive a Dogfight set (their most popular) just for participating in the X-wing Open and other X-wing events at AdeptiCon. The ModCube is an innovative gaming accessory which allows you to keep 6 gaming tokens of your choosing on a single cube. It was revealed at AdeptiCon in 2015, launched and fulfilled a successful Kickstarter campaign, and is finally available!
You can configure a cube for X-wing with a standard loadout of action faces, like Focus, Evade, Stress, Target Lock, Target Lock / Focus, Target Lock / Stress. Or, you can customize a cube however you like – putting in Cloak instead of Target Lock for Phantoms, for instance, or a double Focus face for Moldy Crow. It is entirely up to you, and that’s the beauty of the ModCube!
Warboss, that's exactly right - there's a week to go! The voting process ended up being longer than we anticipated - but if anyone didn't vote yet it would be awesome to put one in during the last few days here . The link is in my sig!!
We've been busy cutting sets for AdeptiCon giveaways and to offer at our booth, and also getting out batches of orders - word of mouth is absolutely how folks are finding out about our product, as we tend to get "waves" of orders. This week it was mostly X-wing and Armada sets, but last week was mostly 40K (especially objectives, but also vehicles and infantry!).
It's pretty clear from the trends that someone posted us up on a 40K facebook group one week and X-wing the next . If you have your own pictures to share of your sets in use, please post them up in this thread and we'll share them on our page
Here's what went to the post on Friday, more going out today:
And remember, if you haven't voted the link is in my sig below . Cheers guys!
We're back in action after AdeptiCon, here's a thorough update
First, a pic of our motley crew from AdeptiCon (mostly Dakkanauts, by the way!). The venue gave us such a great booth location this year and we had a fantastic response from 40K, X-wing, Warmachine, Malifaux and Infinity players!
We might need a bigger booth next year - all of our cubes and tokens were squirreled away under and to the sides of the table. Special thanks to Ramos for suggesting we hang the banner on the pillar, what a great idea!
Upon returning from AdeptiCon, we got ready to move our laser cutting / token production shop, and finally got the keys to do so this past Friday. Here's a picture from late last night:
It is a Ton more space! But not quite as much as it looks like here, there is a mirror'ed wall on the right . And no, there was no murder in the middle of the shop floor... or at least, it was that way when we got here!
As always, we've got a lot of balls in the air here, so I'd like to list out what we're going to be tackling through the end of May:
- Producing custom token sets that were submitted near AdeptiCon, along with some sets we ran out of stock of at AdeptiCon and need to get sent out. There were also a few standard orders that were delayed (we've contacted each of you) due to Con prep, and we'll be producing those this week and including some extra cubes to make up for the delay!
- Making some custom objective markers for use in the 30K events at the Alamo GT. These were a huge hit at AdeptiCon and we're excited to provide them for the Alamo, too!
- Finally getting the Deadzone set finalized and sent out. Thank you so much to those who were patiently waiting for these - we'll make sure it's worth it, and like any time we are late, include extras =)
- Following up with our ModSubscribers, a few of whom still need more token sets to go with their cubes.
- Finalizing retail packaging - a few stores have nabbed sets from us even without this, but we're going to tackle it and make it easy to get into stores. We've had many requests and will be posting up as soon as the packaging is ready!
- Last but not least, making a few new sets!
Token Color Options
We also wanted to let you know here that we'll be removing a few of the less popular token color options from the webstore - but if any Kickstarter backer needed a set in one of these colors, we'll always be happy to make it for you! Just contact us here, or at info@modcube.com
The colors we'll be removing are: White on Purple, White on Grey, Metal on Blue, and Black on Silver (although an extremely similar look can be achieved with just inverting a cut on Metal on Black, so we can still provide this one easily). This will still leave us with 6 token color options (Red, Blue, Green, Black, Yellow, Metallic) and simplifying the options will allow us to keep more sets in stock and have faster turn-around time on our web orders.
We won't be taking this down for a week, so if you want something in one of these colors ordering now would make things easy! But remember, Kickstarter backers can always ask us later and we'll be sure to make them for you =)
We just have the standard green for the tokens, Piston - we tried neon but it didn't etch as well. We do have 3 different greens for the cube colors, though, and the light green is really bright!
Note we're actually about to sell out of that color, since we had trouble photographing it well and so not many Kickstarter backers selected it (and so we ordered less of it). But at AdeptiCon with people trying the colors in-person, it was really popular . So just FYI in case you might be after it!
