I'm not sure what my goal for June is, probably more Wrath of Kings stuff. If I could get one faction of the starter set completely finished I'd be pretty happy with that.

Haven't decided June's plan for me yet. The kids and I have been playing Zombicide again and I still have moar zombies to paint as well as a bunch of zombivors and survivors. Also still have Black pledge wave one to complete and wave 2 should arrive soon.

My final pic of the character models I got completed this month in addition to the Zombies.

And I'll call this a stretch goal as well - finished a couple of models to make Combat Squad (+1) of Minotaurs Space Marines.

I dunno what my chances will be like, but I'd like to finish 2 units of 6 Gondor Knights, a Bone Giant, bump that Minotaurs Squad to a full 10-man, and maybe a unit each of Skeletons and Zombies.

Wish me luck?

My stretch goals are to finish some backlog:

(not current state)

And if somehow I manage to finish them I've got some terrain I may paint up too.

I should warn everyone to expect another failure this month - don't get your hopes up

@Azazelx: Good luck on getting all that stuff done! I couldn't even think about trying to get that much done in one month!

Okay, I don't know whether this could count as a late submission for May (since that is when I did most of the work on this) or whether it should count as June (since that is when I finished). Anyway, here's a pic of my Tau Piranha:

Now I have to think of some other Tau things to possibly knock out this month. I may do my Sniper Drones. Don't expect much from them, Finecrap really lived up to its reputation with the ones I got.

The thing is that everything on that list I typed up is at least started, so it's a matter of time, energy and the ability to finish them. I've got a long weekend coming up next weekend, and a few days off at the end of hte month, so I'm hoping that they will help - though I've had big chunks of my free weekend time swallowed up by PS4 LAN evenings with Marouda and some friends in the past couple of weeks, with the promise of more to come...

I'd count the Tau Piranha as a June entry, Zerg - since that's when it was finished and that's the core "key" to the whole challenge (finishing stuff, whether it was started a day or a decade ago)

A modest entry for this month. All of my GoA Algoryn are painted thanks to the Tale... so I have moved onto the Concord. I have 10 minis to paint, a C3 Drop Squad and a Strike Squad:

A big push for this final month, good luck everyone.

Great stuff since I last checked in guys

Here's my May entry a few days late but not forgotten:

KoW Orc Krudger on Slasher

The dragon/turtle thing has other uses so the orc boss isn't glued on or anything. I thought about chains but then I figured it was both simpler and more macho if the boss just held on with his legs.

As soon as I think of something I like, I'm gonna spruce up the orc a bit so he looks a bit more commander-ish. Maybe glaze the armor red or make it look a bit more golden. Something. And the shield will get a symbol when I figure one out for the whole army.

Well I guess my plans have already changed a bit, I still intend to paint some more WoK stuff (got those Ashmen to finish) however I recently got my grubby mitts on a copy of Sharp Practice v2 by Too Fat Lardies and well it seemed rude not to atleast get a few minis so I could try the rules out. I have recently been reading about the Seven Years War and the two go together really quite well. So here's a load of 15mm SYW Prussian Grenadiers, a mounted officer and a foot officer all from Essex Miniatures just before I primed them (sorry it's terrible).

Of course me being me I did get hit by some other inspiration recently, reading the Too Fat Lardies blog and various sections of TMP I couldn't help get drawn in by the concept of an "imagi-nation" (for the unaware a made up country). The 18th century is a pretty good era for this sort of thing being an era of fabulously garish uniforms and still having loads of small German and Italian states littering the continent (plus rebellious colonists elsewhere). So here we have a load of Grenadiers from a fictional country with Prussian style uniforms. Sounds like a fun little project to me; mini painting and faux historical fluff writing. Now I just need to name my German state, work out what colour the uniforms should be, buy some bases and movement trays, and work out an army list. I also have some musketeers, jägers and officers for both but I'll tackle those once the grenadiers are done.

EDIT: BTW Az, I'm not sure my goals should listed as "Maelstrom's Edge" any more. I think more accurate one would be "Random Stuff"

Nice work guys, moving right along

Here's most of my June/final entry:

Three orcs and three goblins, all archers, to be used in a unit of Skulks for KoW. I figure the orcs are bad enough at sneaking and shooting things that they bullied some goblins into showing them the ropes. The front rank will include the goblins as well as a mawbeast (for tracking and stuff) with the orcs behind, easily drawing line of sight over their cousins.

The Troop tray is textured and drying/curing at the moment. Gonna spray it and get it painted as soon as I can. You can tell a bit from the photo what I'll be working on next

The drop troops look great! With that yellow, I'm reminded more of those atmospheric diving suits used in deep sea exploration. You have a really good look going for those guys.

I've actually made good progress on my goals for the month. All three Icarus Class airships are complete and I've begun work on the Daedalus Class, which has had its magnets installed and most of the base coats applied. It will be done by the end of the week. I've also already tackled two of the seven Iron Empire girls and even done six Mercs: Recon figures.

I'm also started to put together my plan for the next Tale of [x] Painters challenge.

I may see if I can get some more flattering group photos.. but here's what everyone so far (and possibly all I get done within the first instance of the challenge) looks like together:

Zoom in if you like, whatever ended up in focus should be more readily visible if you do

Like I said, needs better photos when I get a bit more time to deal with them.

Ok so here's the first 15mm mini I've finished for years. One of the 26 minis I posted a photo of pre priming on the last page. Apologies for the relatively poor quality of the photo, taking a photo of something so small is really tricky.

As you can see this poor fellow needs a touch up to his tache and left glove at some point but overall I'm really happy with this mini. The paint job is quite literally just base colours and a brown wash but it works really well at this scale. I should also have the first group of 8 grenadiers finished sometime today, I'll be basing them once the brown wash I just slopped over them dries. I hope to get the remaining 16 grenadiers and the officer on horseback also done this month but I'm not sure if I will or not. I'm painting in batches of one group and a relevant office at a time (In Sharp Practice you buy troops in groups, the number of men per group varies from 6 to 12 depending on unit type) simply because I can't face painting 26 minis in one go, I'm not a natural production line painter.

EDIT: Ok that took a lot less time than I expected. I didn't think these guys would be finish until this afternoon, oh well here are 8 grenadiers for you plus the officer from the previous photo.

I've really been slacking off when it comes to painting over the last couple of months but I have got some stuff done.

First of all, 5 Martian Banshee Linebreakers for my Warzone Capitol.

2 Purple Sharks (I definitely wasn't going to be painting them purple though...) That finishes of my Warzone Capitol at 1000 points,I will probably add to it if I can find someone who plays it though...

Since January I have painted:

My completed Capitol

A Van Saar gang for my club's sadly shortened Necromunda campaign and my Frostgrave warband

2250 points of Epic Speak Freaks. Many, many warbikes to go....

Silent Puffin you have gone mental, that is a Gakload of miniatures. Nice group shot from Barzam as well. I m going to call it a day on this Tale of Painters, am very happy to have met my monthly target every month even though some of them have been meagre amounts. This month has also seen me hit a few stretch goals...all continuing the GoA theme:

So this months initial pledge, 5 man drop squad and 5 man strike team:

As stretch goals I have added a C3M4 Combat Drone, X-Launcher team and unit of targeter probes:

So here is my June work:

All of these forces are awesome to see laid out like that. Since some of you guys are so bloody prolific and we've still got the remainder of this weekend and half of next week, I'm going to hold off on July and "showcase" photos until after the month has expired.

After a month where I basically did nothing for the first half, I've managed to finish a couple of things myself (still no Gondor component, though) but since it's so cold and wet here right now it takes models forever for models to get to the varnish station and then dry - and then I need to photograph them - so mine are still coming...

I pledged a lot for this month, but ultimately wrapped up the Leman Russ, the Surgeon-Primus and (finally!) the Malcador Infernus, more or less, still need to do the trailer, but shush! I also did some more work on my vanilla Malcador tank.

And while we're at it, the Malcador again, for which I've finally pieced together both a banner and a tank commander:

I've also decided to take a picture of everything I've painted over the last six months for this venture.

In the end, I've painted up..
- 2x Leman Russ Exterminator
- 2x Leman Russ Executioner
- Leman Russ Vanquisher
- Leman Russ
- Malcador heavy tank
- Malcador Infernus
- Dracosan armoured transport
- 4x Auxilia tank commander (Vanquisher, Malcador, Malcador Infernus, Leman Russ)
- Strategos
- Surgeon-Primus

I'm personally quite pleased with these numbers, it may be something of a personal record even.

Very nice tank platoon there BrookM, Glad that you may have hit a personal record, one of the joys of this thread has been seeing so much stuff getting done.

Very nice Brets Archer, back in the day I went for a unified colour scheme but all he individual heraldry looks great. I really love the orange and green on the standard, no chance of his brethren missing him on the battlefield.

Lovely work guys. The Tanks and Knights both look ace, and Theo's zombies look typically disgusting.

I'm still trying to get one more thing finished for the challenge - for Gondor which I haven't gotten anything done for as of yet this month since the challenge ends (for me) in 8 and a half hours.

A couple of simple things here - two "Swarm" units for Undead in Kings of War. I've got one more undead unit finished as well, but I'll show that one tomorrow, and then hopefully finish the Gondor one tonight, varnish it tomorrow and have photos by the weekend - as well as a "showcase" photo for each of the armies as so many others have done here.

I'll be updating the OP probably late this weekend as I get past my own hump as noted, and also giving others time to get their final month pics done as well as any more "6-month showcase" pics.

And especially for the participants here - don't forget that Part 2: July-December starts in just a few hours....

Ooooh if you are doing a group shot of everything done in the challenge for the month then I will cut together my progress to date. Has been an excellent motivator for my painting progress this year. I'm pushing things a bit fine this month, hopefully I'll polish of the remaining 15mm minis tonight and post photos tomorrow.

EDIT: Woo done, I'll let everything dry completely overnight and post a photo tomorrow.

Well not my best showing, but here's June's entry of mine. 31 figs from ZBP

July will continue the rotting green painting, as will most of the July through December for me.

I did buy way more this month than I painted.....actually I bought more today than I painted

I snatched up 2 boxes of angry zombies from Miniaturemarket.com (their brick and mortar store), which were on clearance for $12.50 per box. So 48 new models for $25, but I got a $5 gift card to an ice cream shop out of the deal . I might start scratch building a prison for these zombies and the police guards to be in, but I also need to rebuild a gaming table. So for the foreseeable future there are only zombies and sawdust .

Zombies and DQ? That's quite a deal. Nice work on the ZBP stuff.

Here's my final June entry-- Deadzone Forge Guard.

And all of my completed models for June:

More here.

I managed to finally complete the two crew of Mantic's Balefire Catapult, which combined with the previously-painted Catapult results in another finally completed unit.

That's pretty much it. It has made for a good, strong finish to the final month of the painting challenge for the undead. Especially so, considering I had the painting doldrums and didn't finish anything at all until almost three weeks in. I also finished something for Gondor in the wee hours, so that's got the varnish drying outside, and I hope to have it flocked, etc and photographed tomorrow or the day after.

June's "Tale of Gamers" Undead painting contingent. I'll get some "6-months worth of Undead" and "6 months worth of Gondor" posts up soon, and then follow them with a few "Army Showcase so far." posts for my various army projects. Should be a bit of fun, or at least keep me interested for a little while...

Ok as promised, here's 24 15mm scale Seven Years War era grenadiers and their officers for my still unnamed Germanic imagi-nation.

It was a lot of effort for me to get back into painting 15mm scale stuff and painting so many minis in one month. Worth it though in my opinion, I'm really happy with how they've turned out even if the paint job is just base colours plus a brown wash.

I don't think I can throw together a post of everything I've painted because some things have been put in storage.

Not the best pics due to lighting, but here are all of my June stretch goals.

Raging Heroes (Click for larger version)

MERCS: Recon

Now I can take a short break, build a model or two, and then on to Deep Wars and Infinity.

My final model for the first 6-month Tale of Painters challenge, a second Gondor Battlecry Trebuchet for the collection. In an obverse situation to the Balefire Catapult, the crew were painted ages ago, alongside some batch or another of Warriors of Minas Tirith, while the Trebuchet itself languished for at least a year.

I'll add in my own showcase pics of I managed to paint within the 6-months soon, and do the OP with June and others' showcases at around the same time.

When I get home in a few days, I'll photograph the Enforcers I had finished in June before I left as well as a showcase of all the stuff I finished. I put in my time too dammit!

This has been a great help with me personally getting stuff done. Hope to see everyone continue on for the next 6 months . Lots of great armies and gangs building up here. Plus it's sparked my interest in quite a few new areas.

Just a FYI for the participants here. I'm going through and updating the OP with June photos, bit by bit (after half an hour or so my eyes glaze over). Working backwards from the last post.

I'll go through again and do the "6-month showcase" after I finish with June.

Jan - I think I must have missed your update for May. Could you point me to it again when you have a chance?

I've done another pass on updating the OP for just under an hour. I know I've still missed/can't find some people's June posts (Grim, Jan, plus more) and some others' showcase pics. Some people have forgotten/not had time to to add their June pics as well.

Feel absolutely free to poke me with a post here with a link to what I missed.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh, and Silent Puffin - could you please do a smaller pic of just your June entries so I can replace the big ones I've stuck into the Op for now. Thanks!

Well done to those who got their models done in time.... I took a bit too long. Over 18 months too long. Life got in the way! But I have finally completed the models from Age of SIgmar...

That's' a great looking pair of forces you've put together there, John. Congratulations both on finishing them and the high quality you've achieved across the board!
