Hey all, Just played a game against a Khornate Daemon Prince that was tooled up with Berzerker Glaive, Speed, resistance, all kinds of goodies. It soaked up a ton of firepower and only failed because it was totally unsupported. I'm going to add one to my Black legion Army and want to know the best configurations. Show me what you've got... Please.

No, it can't. The guy was cheating. What the best config is depends on the rest of your army. Black Legion can't use my daemon prince, but since you asked MoCU, Infiltrate, Furious Charge Dark Blade, Bolt Pistol, Frags, Spikey Bits Speed, Resilience, Aura, Strength, Mutation. <----- Picture at left

I don't have my Chaos codex handy but here's what I've been thinking Daemon Lord w/ Stature, Dread Axe (The one is that prevents invulnerable saves), Resilience, Strength, Spiky Bits, Daemon Rune. Those ones will defintely be used, but I was thinking something along the lines of either flight or speed (not sure which is better), Mark of Khorne, feel no pain and maybe switch out the rune for Daemon armor. I'm not sure how much this beast would cost, but it would be tough as nails, fast and good at killing stuff. Is it legal?

Technically, a statured prince can infiltrate though (Don't expect to win many friends doing that though)

And thankfully, the local players pretty much all agree not to infiltrate demon princes, terminators, bikers and whatever else is restricted in the chaos codex.

Actually, terminators can't according to RAW. The others can.

The best prince is one with all the defensive upgrades he can get and a dreadaxe and furious charge.
Get him S6 on the charge, a dreadaxe, T6, W4, 2+/5+ and stature and speed, and you're good to go, spiky bits also.
S6 with 4 attacks rerolling a miss, 5 attacks on the charge, is plenty killy for almost any situation - even charging powerfist squads. Just pick where you hit wisely with speed.
If you can't fit the dreadaxe (I forget), 2 ccws is a fine choice.

Hey guys, I use the following: 112: Lord - Stature, Wings, 2 CCW, MoCU, Pers Icon in my Daemonbomb lists. I think this is a very good Daemon. Cheap as can be, but he is still big enough to draw fire away from those who really matter, like the biker Lieut @ 125 points. If it is left alone however, these 112 points can do a lot of damage to Las/Plas squads and even things like Light Armour. Good luck with the composition of your Lord. Remember: as Longshot says, go for defensive upgrades first, If the Prince is more expensive then mine but still dies just as fast, you're doing something wrong. Get things like Essence, Aura, Resilience and always use a movement upgrade. Cilithan out...

Stature, two ccw, frag, MOCU, speed, armor, aura, essence, resilence, and furious charge. Fairly cheap and effective. If I have the points I throw in the spikey bits also. 6 attacks on the charge, ini 5, T6, 4 wounds, Strength 6 and simultaneous into cover. Speed I have found to be much more effective as far as movement totals than flight.

The people who play that way will be the same people who fleet their Autarch on a Jetbike.

Hardly. Oversight in converting a previous codex to a new edition is complely different from something introduced in a new codex for the new edition.
Fleeting with an Autarch on a jetbike is equivalent to rending on an assault cannon.

I like my Slaaneshi DP. Str, Mutation, Drugs, Doom Siren, Dark Blade, Bitz, Speed, Furious Charge, icon. He usually runs with a Noise Marine squad as a counter charge element or advances with them as they lay down fire. If I want to get aggro, he just runs behind a rhino (great mobile cover- run two up and maneuver to block LOS!).
I have found the Warp Scream is incredibly useful as it means he is effectively I6 out the gate and S8 on the charge with no AS. That makes him great at slicing up pretty much anything with 6 attacks +reroll on the charge. The Doom Siren means he could care less about cover and often shoots stuff on the way in. The icon makes sure he rarely assaults alone, though :-)
I am not a big fan of stature because it makes the DP a huge fire magnet. Even at T6, S8+ still wounds on 2s and rending hurts bad. FNP helps, but usually just means they concentrate a little mor firepower to hose him. Hidden PFists also cause problems (Space Wolves are one thing I am very careful around for this reason- 2 pfists per squad is rough!)

A while back I posted some extreme geeking over Chaos Lord configs: www.dakkadakka.com/Forums/tabid/56/view/topic/forumid/18/postid/77012/Default.aspx It has the optimal MEQ-killing Unmarked and MoS princes, didn't get around to finishing up Khorne before my 40k time got eaten a few months back.

Ha, fleeting with an autarch on a jetbike. That's one the best reasons to sell your 40k army and buy a warmachine one.

Posted By onlainari on 11/11/2006 9:26 PM I guess he plays Alpha legion. Why give a chaos lord / daemon prince MoCU though? It's pointless. MoCU is a nice mark because its cheap and well it would be pretty crappy to have your lord / prince run away and off the board. You can reroll leadership checks. Also units in the army are taken as elites if they do not share the same mark as the lord / dp and Im pretty sure that includes being unmarked.

Hi there, Can you please show me the rules on the page where it says a Daemon Prince that carries a Berserker Glaive cannot legally take Daemonic Speed? As far as i'm reading the Berzerker Glaive description now, it just says it cannot ride steed. It doesnt say anything about not able to be given Daemonic Speed or Daemonic Flight. Thanks. -J

I think in the latest version (3rd printing) it says that one cannot take the glaive and any other movement.

Hardly. Most people don't know that Speed cannot be taken with the Glaive because there there are 20 different versions of the Codex, and 10 contradictory FAQs for each, making knowing what's legal this week very difficult. The guy was probably following his the Codex that he has, blissfully unaware of all the changes GW has made to a Codex he bought years ago. BYE
