The biker in the middle totally looks like a perv.

Actually, most of 'em look like LARPers.  "Forsooth, for I have yon Draped Tapestry of Wench Wooing!"

Those robes really just don't go well with power armor.  They seem like they're trying TOO hard to be cool.  Sad thing is, they were really cool right up until all the Friar Tuck outfits showed up.

Oh well.  Maybe the Space Wolves will turn out well.

Can't we wear dressing gowns to war.. who are you the fashion police! You're unforgiven.

I think all that stuff looks mighty cool. The new dark angel successors look very cool (the silver red ones espicially).

Roid Monkeys FTW, you will never defeat the 3+.

It does seem that they are keeping the Eldar Codex format for the Dark Angels.  Cool beans, I like that format.

Thanks for the additional link!

Wow...I am so pissed! I have almost 30 guys painted up as the Angles of Redemption and now I see the coolness of the Guardians of the Covenant!?! That sucks, plus the other guys who look like the original Dark Angles with the Black armor and the red studded shoulder pad...My eyes are bad and I cannot make out a name =(

Thanks for the info, but now I am mad about the cool new sucessor chapters....grrrrrrr...one more project I guess...

Thanks,

Ugh, same ol with bling.  Are they trying to not make main figs without combat poses?

I really wish they would finally vote against the helmet carrying jawa.

Am I the only one who thinks the new robed marines are cool??? I really like them. Yes, they're over the top but isn't 40K in general over the top? Space Elves? An overabundance of skulls and scrollwork everywhere?

Although, the artwork in the DA Codex is horrid. I knew 16 year olds in high school who could draw better proportions and perspective than that.

I'm going to come right out (HA!) and say that I like the robed Marines. Maybe a little OOT, but still pretty cool. I think they'd look good for veterans and the occasional model.

If only they had robed Terminators.

Oh, can I point out another thing, as this has always bothered me.

You know how we all make fun of the new Photochopped pics GW uses for all their box art now, well take a look at the biker photoshop job on the first page of the preview posted at the top of the second page of this thread. Wait, just go here:

http://us.games-workshop.com/games/40k/darkangels/extras/preview/default.htm

Anyway, see those bikers? Don't you love how everything is motion blurred except the bikers? I know GW has to show off their models and not obscure them with motion blur, but they're trying to impart an image of speed here, and motion blurring everything else but not the bikes just makes it look awkward. Same thing applies to all other bike and Land Speeder box art.

I'll join in and say I like the new robed marines, not badly carried out really at all. I think the GeeDub painting makes them look pretty bland, but I think real gamers out here will do good things with them, especially with non-bleached bone cloth + green armor schemes. I like both of the new captains too, especially the 'old skool' one with winged helm. The cover art on the new codex is nice too.

All that having been said, I still don't like Dangels in the least

I like the mace that one guy has at the top of the screen, and the Devs sgt has got that cool rangefinder bit.

I also think, from my views on the DA accessory sprue, that the LS Typhoon missle launchers are not in plastic, too.

The codex previews looks cool, except for whatever moron decided to waste a page with pictures of a bolter, bolt pistol, chainsword, etc. Like, duh, we don't know what those are. Can anyone say "filler"?

I had a look at the sprues at my local gw i have to say thte eaxtra sprues you get with the vets are loaded with stuff and i mean loaded, i can't wait to get my hands on them

atm i am plannin gon nabbing cou[pple of heads for my Iron Warriors, but also thinking of using the robed guys as Cursed knightas for my Cursed founding marines, maybe a new librariain especialy the walking forward robed guy

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

I definately want those banner poles attached to the bikes. I also like the backpack banners on the second page. Guess I'm gonna be ordering many more bits from the evil web stores.

I wonder how the robes attach to the body of the marine. If its just a bit then that would be some of the best bits GW made in a long time. Since before you had to make Greenstuff robes if you wanted to have them. But sadly I don't think the robes are a different bit.

nah...don't think so, either.

But i imagine it would look pretty kickdonkey if you would paint the robes in, you know, real robecolors...like studded brown.

Sad thing i don't have a Space Marine army...with all these bits coming out for them, you wish to be a Space Marine sometimes.

Of course we know what those are.  That page isn't for us.  It's for beginning players who don't know a bolt gun from a shuriken cannon.  Bringing new blood into the hobby isn't a waste.

Don't they already have those in the basic rulebook?

There are only a few weapons in the main rulebook, not a comprehensive (or even close to comprehensive) pictorial guide.  Xenos weapons are, IIRC, completely absent, for instance.  I imagine that we'll be seeing pictures of weapons in most codices from now on.

I have a nasty feeling those plastic Dev Squad boxes will mean the end for marine heavy weapons blisters.  Want a Lascannon in your squad?  Sorry, gotta buy the Devestator Box.

Already happened. If you want extra lascannons the only way to get them (if your LFGS no longer have any of the old blisters) is to bitz order them and I guarantee once existing stocks of those bitz run out the complete boxed set (or some secondary market service like BWBitz) will be the only way to increase that number.
