In case you aren't already aware, GW recently declared the Lost and the Damned army list officially unofficial. If, like me, you don't want to see LatD go the way of the Squats, please sign a petition at http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/latd40k/. The petition isn't a crazy rant. What we're asking for is a pretty reasonable request -- the army's inclusion in a new codex, an official White Dwarf list, or (if all else fails) an FAQ to the existing list so that the army is once again official and compatible. It's easy to be skeptical about online petitions. But in this case I think it's exactly what the situation requires. Because GW doesn't sell LatD miniatures, the army is in a blind spot for them. This is our chance to show GW that LatD has more support than they realize, and that the army occupies a unique place in the 40K universe and game. Since the army skews toward vets, we're hoping for some good support from the Dakka faithful. I'm guessing most of us here agree that the game is better off with some non-power-armored representation of Chaos. Too many players have put too much time into LatD armies...we can't let this stand without speaking up. Please feel free to forward this on to your gaming buddies. If we get enough signatures, GW *will* notice. And that may be all we need to put the right idea in their heads. Thanks for your support. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/latd40k/

Just enter every GT with a LATD army. Proxy skinny LATD as Eldar rules, Regular LATD as IG rules. Phat LATD as Chaos/Space Orks.
Get a flood of LATD models into Golden Demons.
Have Jervis wake up with the head of a LATD guardsman in his bed.
That sort of thing.

I signed, but GW's attitude towards online petitions hasn't been very positive in the past, and I don't really think that much has changed. Still, I'm glad you're trying and I hope for the best.

that'd be a much better idea- get a large-ish group of people together and invade a GTeveryone taking a LATD army with a different army list that would turn some heads

You should wait till after the new mass battle game comes out, then see if your petition is warented. In my opinion, I liked the old rules best, and Lost and the Damned is best played old school. build your army from the ground up, and let your warband grow. Think Necromunda on steroides. The other 3rd edition armies are ok, but do you really think that they would come out with masses of muties, giant muties, and ogryn sized muties if they were really getting rid of them? They will be making thier appearance soon enough.
|
At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

And besides, what if I want to play a game at smaller than 3,000 points, or go to a Tournament? Well, considering that Forgeworld are the ones who 'came out with' all the mutants, for use with their Siege of Vraks books, I wouldn't hold my breath on that count. Sure, I could buy the Vraks books, but then I still can't use the list in Tournies. LatD doesn't require any model line, only a set of official rules. Its really not much to ask. I'd much rather use my imagination and convert up my own chaos horde (or use the list as a 'counts as' Adeptus Mechanicus or Genestealer Cult list). This is a money-maker for GW, they just have to notice it.

Yeah, you're right about snail mail's effectiveness. I think letter writing will also be a part of our efforts. I added GW's address to the petition text. For anyone who's interested: Games Workshop Willow Road Lenton Nottingham NG7 2WS United Kingdom<!-- end Div tag lives on the default.htm files in Templates folder --> So far, not a bad start...70-something signatures in less than 24 hours and I haven't even advertised on some forums yet. I've worked at companies that have cut products, services, etc. with the idea that "we'll see if anyone says anything." By voicing our concerns now rather than later (see Squats), we have a better chance of getting their attention.

Apocalypse is a campaign book. See what I'm getting at... (plus I don't have time to spend an entire weekend playing one game).

Agree, paper letters are far, far greater than paper petitions and especially e-petitions. If all you're willing to do is click a mouse it doesn't show any depth of commitment. The best thing is to bring your L&D army to GW stores and tournaments and SHOW you are playing them. I'll start a new thread with how to do that. DON'T GIVE UP THE FIGHT!

I can believe somewhere out there the tyranidss are swimming through the void on their long journey to the distant Milky Way. I could possibly believe that out there an ancient Eldar empire awaits its fall. I could even believe Necrons killed th dinosaurs before returning to the sleep of ages. After all we dont know for sure.
But I cannot believe GW would listen to its customers.

They do listen but only to the fellating howler monkeys who confirm their brilliance in sticking their head up their cloaca. Why would they listen to valid criticism? It might hurt their feelings and make them go back to the howler monkeys online and throw a hissy fit and get re-fluffed.

Signed it and sent a contribution. I doubt it'll make much of a difference after the train wreck that GW just dropped on Chaos vets. GW clearly has decided to 1) diss conversions and 2) target 10-year-old brats with wealthy parents. Shame.

People complained that GW did away with vortex grenades and how good they used to be. GW brings back vortex grenades and people still complain.
People complained GW did not make plastic baneblades, now gw does and people complain nobody will buy them.
People complained that GW should make a version of epic for 40K so GW makes apoc and people complain that they wont play and its a money making skeme..
People complain that GW does not look after its vets so GW gives them apoc so now people complain GW should actually be trying to get newer players.
Is it anywonder GW closed their forums? What started out as a place for people to talk about the game and share idieas turned into a whine fest with the majority of poster ech thinking they could improve some aspect of the hobby. The poster were delusioned enough to think people agreed with them just cos the other poster shared the same views. The problem with this was that the MAJORITY of GW customers dont bother with the forums all that much
