Ok, so there is NO fluff about the Tau having titans, but it would kind of be a logical progression thing in my mind.

Anyone have a good reason that I should or should not make one?

Drano doesn't exactly scream "toy" to me.

I think you should make a Tau Titan. My brother thought about a Titan for Tau called an Angelfish Titan. It's gonna be made out of a Gundam model or something.

While it looks cool and makes for flashy TV shows, bipedal tanks are a horrible idea. I really don't think Tau would go the way of a Titan as they seem to actually have fully functioning brains that are capable of expanding their existing technology. They would most likely create large mobile gun platforms. A skimmer with multiple railcannons on it to deal with Titans and such. However, you could just get a big Gundam model or something and make it look pretty cool for the Tau. Depends on which route you want to take I guess.

Fluff says Tau do not make Titans, they use big flying gunships instead, like the Manta (see Forge World.)

But a Tau Titan would be pretty cool. You could make it out of a Gundam kit.

Look, this always comes up, and it's always a bad idea, and the execution never matches the available Tau range.

Titans are religious icons, as well as war machines. If you want Tau war machines, go check out the variety of stuff that you can get in Epic: Armageddon - much more Tau and much less Titan-peg in an aerospace-hole.

Yeah, one of Jervis' instructions to the guys writing the Tau army list for Epic was "No Titans!"

On the other hand, it's your army. Do what you want.

i wouldnt go for a titan, but a large suit might work well, needs to be quick and mobile while still having plenty of fire power.

i dont cear what the Almighty god Jervis says, a tau titan is just what they need,
what says "for the greater good" like a multi-person tau battle suit that is taller then a warhound!

Titans are not compatible to Tau tactics.
Tau value to be the hunter - not the prey.
And a big slow warmachine might look for a Tau like a throphy to take, but not to field one.

OTOH - if we get a modelling&painting article and some pics . we could rethink the case of "Tau titans"

ZMOG.

Speaking of Titans, they should get a transforming Titan/ Gunship. Swoop in from reserve, fight as a gunboat for one turn and it can give up its movement to transform. But ONLY if you make a cool noise while you do it.

A suit as tall as a 2 to 3 story building... very fast, and mobile. Decent firepower. all that and it STILL has a cape

Suits in later episodes have flight capabilities opening the door for deep striking, and flyers. And much cooler weapons. i mean come on, would you really field a rather high point model that looks cool, but only has at most 6 turns of firing a machine gun??

But Hardon cannon =

they have models and toys for this out. i would think one would need to do some work on the lower legs to make them look more firewarriorish

I would picture some sort of airborne fighter carrier ship over a bipedal walker. It melds better with their mobility/firepower themes.

Large battlesuit is the way to go, combining firepower and mobility as said above.

In some other thread I mentioned the various Macross Valkyrie kits as possible Tau giant suits. These are 1/72 scale.

If you want something more titanic, how about a Patlabor 1/35 scale model?

These are all polystyrene injection kits from top Japanese makers. They will build very well and can easily be modified using plastic card, accessory kits and so on.

ehhh no i dont like the suit idea. to me the tau would have some kind of rediculously bad ass gun ship, that circles around its titan enemies and blows them into piles of scrap iron. thats the only real nice thing i can say about the tau is those basterds have a serious fetish for guns

i don't think its a bad idea, if it is as fast as say the Eldar Titan it would in a sense keep with the mobility theme, however i have seen a tau mech converted to look like the Battletech Madcat, this however is a bad idea as battletech mechs simply aren't that fast,

prehaps even having it come with its own gunship that deploys it onto the table then acts as a support gunship for the titan?

I like it, But then the titan couldnt be too weaponized because of its gunship big brother.

I'd could imagine them having small titans, a little smaller than warhounds. This way they're carrying large weaponry, but are still fast.
