Hail and greetings, fellow warhammer players!
I am hailing from a warhammer gaming club in Beijing. We are a friendly and cheerful bunch. If you are in Beijing and looking for some W40k/WFB fun, feel free to contact us! (And we don't talk about any political propaganda crap.. So please leave those outside the door, thanks.. This gaming club is for fun only.)
Due to lack of resources and experience, the Beijing gaming club might not be on par as the regular clubs you fellas have visited before, but we are trying pretty hard to improve it! So far we own a ping-pong table, and we have ordered some scenarie pieces from GW. Things will get better eventually so please bear with us. Any comments and words of wisdom are most welcome!

Welcome! Glad to hear from another wargaming outpost!
Do you have access to a store that sells home improvement/building supplies? In the US we typically find that these are amazing sources of inexpensive materials for making terrain. If you are able to find 1”-2” thick pink (or blue) foam insulation, you can cut it into enough hills and ruins to equip multiple tables. Something like this:
http://www.ebuild.com/product-detail/insulation--moisture-air--pest-barriers/building-insulation--rigid-foam-board/368117.hwx
At my local Home Depot store, I can buy a 1” x 24” x 96” sheet of this material for around $8 US.
It’s best cut and shaped using a hot wire foam cutter:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hot-wire_foam_cutter
http://www.amazon.com/Styro-Wonder-Cutter-Tool-Electric/dp/B000XASIO2
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXKT85&P=FR
http://wolfstone.halloweenhost.com/HalloweenTech/fotbuy_CommercialFoamTools.html#WonderCutter
I bought a cheap one like the one in the last link above. Cutting and shaping the foam is a breeze with one of these things. You can make smooth or rough curves and shapes almost as easily as moving your hand, while cutting foam with a regular knife (even a very sharp one) tends to take a lot of effort, and tears and misshapes the foam.
Model trees may be a little more complicated. Here in the states the easiest place to find them is usually in a model train shop. I’m not sure what issues exist shipping to China, but there are certainly lots of online retailers as well:
http://www.miniaturetree.com/
Let me know if you're unable to view any of the links. Always glad to help a fellow hobbyist!

For terrain tables, we have found that a big sheet of colored felt cloth is a good and compact alternative to foam for the base, although it isn't as pretty.

Well I had my first game and it was a blast.
After clearing up some confusion, for some odd reason everyone expected me to be Japanese, I met the group. Teos is Canadian-Chinese but the rest of the group are all Chinese with varying degrees of English.
And I have to say I was really, really impressed. The rules and codex do not have an official Chinese translation, but everyone was consulting English rulebooks. When I took out my Bezerkers to show off someone said 'Oh World Eaters in their original colors!'. As it happens they're Space Wolves but wow... that's a seriously intense knowlege of the game and fluff from players whose first language is not English.
And needless to say (since I've played all of 3, now 4, games of 4th Edition) people were correcting me on the rules, citing them in both English and Chinese.
So as a former English teacher and current Chinese student I was just blown away.
On to the game. As stated terrain and tables are in the starting phase, I'll work with them on that.
In the spirit of international cooperation I brought the most useless army possible. Grey Knights. I think I had like 35 models on the table, including 13 GK termis and 2 squads of 5 storm troops as my mandatory troop choices.
I played Teos' tao and fought to tie in a cleanse mission. Once the termis got to his gun line it was pretty ugly. Fun fun game.
Here's my pics:

That was just playing around with blue-tac.
As for the church, come on, you must have seen Cathedralsaurus Rex and his blood brother Pagodatron before.
Or did you mean the first church of Dakka, my LR crusader?

Thinking about it, I would be very interested to hear what their opinions are on the existing terrain options for 40k. 40k has a very heavy european influence for structures and I am curious to see if anyone there will be tempted to start making some more eastern-style adaptations of the baroque/gothic architecture that we know and love already.

Good question.
My friend here (American) who does historical gaming has a fantastic collection of eastern terrain, including southern chinese-style mountains and 5mm villages. He's aided by China's existing market for small diaramas (you see them sometimes outside Chinese restaurants).
There are quite a few laser-cut wood kits here with pagodas, tiananmen gate (with a little Chairman Mao on it) and temples. I've thought of them for terrain.
for now they only have some Battle for McDonalds and Pegasus terrain.
Teos I got the address thanks, I'll check this weekend when I'm in Shanghai.

We love the gothic style, but who knows? We might make some oriental style fortresses in the future just for kicks and giggles.. heh

Funny you should ask. There's a store down there called Zarks that I'm going to check out this weekend:
Zark's Cell phone number: 13801883030
Direction: 地铁1号线延长路站下,4号口出,沿路一直走,大宁广场里的大润发超市四楼
Subway route #1, disembark at Yan chang road station & exit via exit #4. Follow the road straight ahead of you, then enter the Da-run- fa Supermarket. Zark's world sits on the 4th floor.
Address of the da run fa supermarket:
大宁国际商业广场上海上海闸北区共和新路1868-2008号大宁路
Da-ning international plaza. Shanghai city, Zha-bei district, #1868-2008 gong he xin road, daning road.

Man, there just ain't nothing good going to come from going there.
I mean how much do you like it when foreigners put you on the spot to defend everything your country does?
I'm an American overseas and get $%^& all the time for it. And y'know what, it just makes me dig in my heels and salute the flag, cause while I might say the same thing with other Americans I don't want to hear someone from outside say it.
So anyway if you can't be polite to a poster who wants to talk about his club here in Beijing just stay quiet.

Oh and since the Great Firewall of China works on keywords throwing certain hot topics into this message board can result in me losing access to it.
I still can't see Amazon at home since I tried to order a certain book on certain stuff that happened 18 years back or so.
I wouldn't expect anyone outside China to know that but I thought I'd share.
