I still can't see Amazon at home since I tried to order a certain book on certain stuff that happened 18 years back or so.
I wouldn't expect anyone outside China to know that but I thought I'd share.

Yeah I've been to china a few times and have got to enjoy the awful net access there. Download and use T.O.R. to get around the firewall and use the free internet if dakka ends up getting blocked for whatever reason. I have US and UK based proxy servers that I use when in censored countries so that I can still get to the bbc website with all the UK benefits.

Wicked cool, knowing that there's a crew in China playing the games. Pleased to meet you.

Do you guys over in China suffer from a glut of bad casts of knockoff GW products or is there not really that large of a market for warhammer over there?
also is there a GW official store in China or is it something that has to be special ordered from the Australian GW?
have you found any good modeling paints over there that might coat better than the current gw paints or do you guys just use GW paints?
And finally do you use metric for determining distance or stick to the western inches?

I've not seen anything. AFAK there is one, maybe two shops in Shanghai that carry it (I visited one this weekend) one or more in HK and another one or two in Taiwan (which is like, totally part of China!). So yeah, no market. I'm sure there would be knock offs so good we couldn't detect them, if there was a market.

I do the warstore, Teos mentioned there's a GW rep here but I don't know the details and my Chinese is nowhere near good enough to ask the store clerks in Shanghai about their wholesale distributors. I was pretty happy to get out 'me play warhammer'.
I did notice that prices were about on par with the US which surprised me. In Japan (possibly due to taxes) they're almost 50% more.

I've been using my GW paint stockpile and some tamiya which is available here. Again I'll defer to Teos on this.

Inches, but again since the rules are not translated that might change. I brought a tape measure from the US, I'll have to check if Chinese stores have measures marked in inches or not.

How's your trip to Shanghai, Kid_kyoto? I hope you had fun there(And I hope my direction actually helped, instead of leading you in circles.. heh) Please share your experience with us.
To Onootangu:
1. The market in China for miniature war games is almost non-existant by comparing with the markets in USA/UK.
2. We have a GW rep here that can offer us a pretty good discount(10% off the official GW-UK price with free shipping to Beijing) for miniatures. However, you have to join our club's membership to get it...
3. Aside from GW, Tamiya, we've also tried the Spanish AV paints. They dry up way faster than their GW counter parts. Aside from that, they are pretty much identitical. GW metal paints are by far the best I've used so far though. Thumbs up.
4. They do sell tape measures marked in inches in China, so fear not!

Played again yesterday. We did a 4 way combat patrol using the Star Wars Galaxy tiles I reviewed a while back.
I had a mixed Inquisition force, other players had Khorne Bezerkers, Dark Angels and Tau.
The winner was the Emperor's Crack Monkey (aka Eversore assassin). After killing off the Khorne Bezerkers and a squad or two of tau and a DA chappy he ended up facing a lone DA with a heavy bolter.
Three hits, two wounds, two dodge saves and he runs up inflicting 4 or 5 wounds on the last DA.
I love the Emperor's Crack Monkey.

That's one mad crack monkey... But hell yeah it was fun to see him dashing through corridors, dodging bullets ala Neo- de-Matrix style & wrecking havocs!
