Anyone done Female IG models? GW doesn't really supply but I think 2 or 3 female IG models: 1 is Catachan, 1 is from Last Chancers and the last is the female IG Commissar which is no longer produced. What mods/resources has everyone else used to fill this gap?

Yeah, the few GW models are almost unusable.

Their club's Cadian females were the best

You will never find a GW model that is 'good enough' because GW generally sucks with human women. Period. There may be one or two models that haven't sucked, but yeah.... if you can't sculpt your own or find any custom sculpts, then you may end up using female elf torsos and heads, modified.

If you're doing slaaneshi girls then youve got the daemonettes to work with. Im working on a unit of six female NMs. Almost done with two. Check my blog for pics.

they have some female catachan types and others , at least you could use there bodys or I'm sure they would give a good head swap... note to myself I should get out more.

i wonder why they dont think the IG would have females in its ranks? that doesnt make sence at all really. the modern army and well.. all branches of service have females in it. and on that note a female catachan? oh man she must be a beast lol

Actually, it's worse then that. The fluff says that half of all cadian troopers are supposed to be female, but the models are all male.

Is there any chance some of us could get a copy or two of those resin models so we can replicate your awesome sculpts?

Yeah I would love to get some of those myself to round out my IG.

Given how badly the sculpters for GW are at making any female models, I guess it's good none of their IG are female.

The arms are too big for girls. The GL launcher guy looks like a dude with pants that are too tight.

I think they look great, and to the guy that said the arms are too big for girls has obviously never met an army or marine chick. Though I would question why don't you at least have a few with heads that have helmets on?

I know it is just a game and not having ahelmet looks cooler, but not wearing a helmet to war is kind of like not taking gear to climb mount everest, sure you can make it if you good enough but odds are your gonna be dead =P.

Still the sculpts look very well done, kudos and you get

I don't think there were any females in Gaunt's Ghosts. There were females member of Colenel Scheafer's Last Chancers.

The anatomy looks fine. Speaking as a member of the US Army, military uniforms do not really do much to show off the female figure. IG females like this really only needs different torso parts for ascetic reasons and to be ale to tell them apart.

That said, they look great.

I am currently modifying my own Cadians to female models, though I would also appreciate the info I would need to acquire the ones from your club, they would make excelent special characters/variety against my own.

The way I am doing it they should look like females in the modern US Army. Essentially, since female body builds vary so much more then males, and the Army prefers to keep the number of different uniform sizes down to a minimum, women invariably end up looking like they are being stuffed inside their older brother's uniform.

To get this look, I basically had to reduce the height of the Cadian models at every point (torso, arms, and legs) to get proper proportions. To do that, I cut the legs off at the hip, just below the bottom of the blouse-top, shaved off a bit of length, then glued them back on. Remember, you can't take ALL your height off here because you will also be reducing the torso, or else the torso would look huge! The torso I had to cut diagnolly on the side, from the back of the shoulder towards the front. Shaved that area down, trimmed up the abdomen flanks (women are trimmer then men there), glue it back together then clean up and a bit of green stuff to smooth things over. Because the torso is now a bit shorter and also thinner there is room for the breasts. Basic green-stuffing there, to the size of bust you desire. Remember, you have to do SOME exagerating or you won't see the breasts under the fatigue colors. Arms are shortened at the shoulder guards with a bit of cutting, filing, and gluing. The face is the most different, and that is just grunt green-stuff work.

It is a lot of work, barely worth the effort unless you really want a few females mixed in there, or if you have the molding equipment to manufacture them. In fact, it is probably easier to just get a hold of the Ms. (or Mr.?) Doc. Thunder there.

Very well said. People should also keep in mind that, for all intents and purposes, Male or Female doesn't typically exist in a military orginization. Everyone is a piece of equipment and uniformity is key. Typical Battle Dress Uniforms are a bit roomy so I personally don't see a problem w/ using the stock arms for the models that were made. I like that the waist was cinched with a belt so that it would be easier to tell gender. Some of the sculpts do show Female IG heads w/ Helmets..very nice.

Are you's still makeing/selling them becouse i have got to get hold of some of them for a new guard army i'll be doing sometime in the near future, man if i had some of those minis, they could be used for a tactic in my games lol my opponents wont be able to concentrate on the game while they admire them.
