Ultramarine Terminator with Assault Cannon

I've finally completed the 1st squad for my Genesis Chapter project. I've decided to use the AoBR miniatures as a building block to build up a small Genesis Chapter army.
All comments appreciated and if you'd like to know how I painted them you can find out on my blog. http://pitoftheoni.blogspot.com/

Nice so far, although I have a couple recommendations.
Firstly, drill out those guns. Makes a huge difference.
Also, in HTPCM they're painting something red (a blood angel) and they start buy undercoating him with a mix of red and white (I think...) so that he looks very bright, and then going over it with red. It produces a beautiful effect, if I were you I'd do that and then use some ink to get your shading effect.
But heck, your stuff looks great, so I don't know why I'm recommending this stuff anyway. Keep up the good work!

"That is THEIR stuff." "THEY'RE crappy converters."
"I put it over THERE." "I'll go to the store THEN."
"He knows better THAN that." "This is NEW." "Most players KNEW that." |

I agree, drill out gun barrels.
Your whole army to this standard will be spectacular on field. Keep it going.

Do black on purity seals.
Red or green in Sgt eye targeter.
Please share your paint scheme. Can I assume foundation red, and devlan mud wash?

captain.gordino - Thank you for the tip, but my intentions were/are to make them dark as I don't much like the brighter reds and I wanted a definite contradistinction from the Blood Angels.

Old Man Ultramarine - You can hit up my blog for a run down on how I painted them. http://pitoftheoni.blogspot.com/
Thanks everyone. I definitely plan on doing writing and chapter symbols, specifically on the sergeants arm shield and of course purity seals, but I'm waiting on two things. To find the the perfect micron pen and chapter decals. I have a hunch GW will be releasing Genesis Chapter decals, but only time will tell.

Very cool, some chapter symbols would be nice (Although I can't talk ;P), try adding a bit of boltgun metal to the little camera feeds above there heads aswell but all in all very well done.
It's all very clean painting, even the base looks good,
Great job

GW actually already has released Genesis Chapter Shoulderpads for tactical squads and you could make a mould to get the symbols to stick to the Terminators.

Thank you. Genesis Marines are actually supposed to be a very bright red, almost just like Blood Angels, but I too dislike bright red on SM's and it's for that reason I chose the scheme I did.
If I recall correctly that skull is on the SM Scout's with sniper rifles sprue.

Your reds are nice and deep, but you could use a little more highlighting - maybe a light touch of blood red on the edges? The whites are beautifully clean and bright. The Dread looks fantastic - the metal is very nicely done, though he could use a white sarcophagus to tie back to the white helmets on the Termies. Also, the Termies can use some metallic contrasts, like the Dread.

Looking great, but drill those barrels out, really stands out now, as the models are painted well, but no attention to detail with their guns.

VERY nice. the red is great, not in your face and the white makes you focus on the models face really well. the lack of drilling holes in the guns really stand out and there are a couple of mold lines here and there.

Paul Atreides wrote:Arent genesis painted in a warm red tone?
Yes, but I wanted to tone it down.
For instance, Ultramarines can be painted too bright for my tastes. (i.e. using Ultramarines Blue as the base colour) I like the darker blue Ultramarines and I wanted to translate that into a darker red for the Genesis Chapter.

I like your paint style! Very nice and clean. I also like to keep a dark palette. The red being toned down is great because it lets you focus on other details on the model. I appreciate that scheme because most people put an incredible mix of eye burning colors on their minis that I usually cant stand looking at for more than a couple seconds. Way to think out of the box friend!
keep em coming!
