Just curious,
How many people would buy 28mm Figs if they were based off the Cogs from Gears Of War and ok priced and all plastic?
I know I would... just think of all the Sm conversions you could do! Or Imperial Guard in Heavy Ar!
FYI if enough people are interested then Ill send off to Wargames Factory for a production submission, but there needs to be a base for it though.

GW did chainsaw bayonets on guns or 40k 20 years ago. There's a reason they don't anymore (unless you play chaos - in which case, you deserve what you get).
It was a stupid idea, and is just as stupid now. It's just been brought back into pop culture consciousness thank(lessly)s to GoW.

Yes please. Looking at using the large scale models and the rules from the new board game (if workable) to make a skirmish game. It would be great if they did 28mm versions as the scenery for the 7in models would be huge!

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Chromedog - Not a fan of Chainsaws on the front of guns? May i ask why, at the end of the day if you play GoW it can be pretty fun just running around mashing people up with the Lancer for fun, GW shouldnt do it, even though i wouldnt look out of place on a few armies (Sisters, Chaos etc), but in a video game its still pretty fun

I find your statement, somewhat, strange.....perhaps its because you haven't backed it up with anything tangible.
Looking at the WH40K setting, where you have Chain swords and Chain Axes.....calling a Chain Bayonnet "stupid" is something of a double standard.
Back on topic....I would welcome a GoW miniature set, definately...I would also be interested in a table top war game version as well (heres for wishful thinking).
Add my name to the list if you get something underway!

It's not that the idea is stupid - it's that the actual model is. I've tried my hand on the terminator chainsaws and chainswords and it's just a pain to file the mold lines AND keeping the uniform look instead of jagged teeth.
I'd like to say yes to this idea but the beefy part of the COG soldiers looks less impressive if there's a massive bobblehead attached.

Heh. I just finished the original Gears of War. I decided the plot was so bad I would skip it, and in my head I was an imperial gaurdsman cracking down on a genestealer cult just months too late- the tyranids had already begun their invasion.
Other candidates were a chaos cult, but the big gribblies looked niddish to me, and wretches have a stealeresque look to them.
As to minis, I'd actually prefer locust minis. Those guys were great looking. The gears are all a bit cheesey.

And before that was Chainsaw Warrior, which was probably inspired by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

But sadly they are metal thus hard to convert. Not to mention they only have one dude in one pose.
Im hopeing that there is enough interest to warrent the production of Plastic Models from said company. I put a submission in cause the couple of sites ive posted this on I get the feeling that people would love to see this done, if done right.
For those of you worried about looks, the best part is... the company will post production shots of the figures in mid sculpt... and you can comment and suggest ideas and the company will make changes where needed. So if you dont like the look of said bulky helm then you can suggest something else!

I think before you start a production run of miniatures, theres a few things you need to consider. First and foremost Copyright and I.P infringement. Especially if you intend to get a thrid party to supply you the figures. This means you would have paid someone to produce a copyrighted image in miniature format, and said third party will be making a profit from that work.

See, the beauty of copyright is that all you have to do is change the name and make sure thet there are 0 logos or names ect that are the same. Once said model is sold then you can paint/name them whatever the heck you want and nobody can do anything about it.
Several Miniature companys already do this.

Attention anyone who would love to get in on this. The main idea has been submitted to team and I am in E-mail contact with a rep at the site. We are working on makeing it Copyright legal (as long as no trademark items are on the models design, people can do whatever they want to it after its sold) and if all goes well should have something up in a week or two.
Progress is being made, I will keep everyone informed as it progresses.

Looking at the WH40K setting, where you have Chain swords and Chain Axes.....calling a Chain Bayonnet "stupid" is something of a double standard.
There were chain blade attachments for bolters on the RTB001 sprues. There were chain-combat accessories on eldar standard bearers in RT (both shuriken catapult and melta gun versions). Neither of these has survived 2nd ed. There's gotta be a reason for that. Sure, chaos terminators get them on their combibolters, but they were seen as 'too brutish' for the loyalist forces of the Imperium, and not in keeping with the aesthetic of the eldar (even Jes Goodwin admits that chainswords weren't the best choice for striking scorpions, but as a 'terror weapon', they serve that purpose).
Chain axes ARE stupid, and I'm not the only person who thinks this. I see no double standard in calling chain bayonets a stupid idea either. I don't like them, and no models in my armies have them. I thought they were silly back in RT as well. Oddly enough, the GoW players in my club also thought this when they first saw the RT chain accessories, only to change their tune when this game (GoW) came out. Now, that's a double standard.
I don't like GoW, either.

Anyway A little update!
To give you a general idea of what the pricing may be...... here is the price and contents of two of the current sets:
British Firing Line - Zulu War
$14.95
This box set provides you with four sprues to create 20 multi-part British soldiers.
Caesar's Legions Box Set
$29.95
Box includes:
48 multi-part hard plastic figures
3 Centurions
3 Optios
3 Signifers
3 Cornicens
12 Standing Legionaries
