The engine is no longer needed...... the stormlord has 40 passengers to move it

I've guessed they change the rear section too, seems i was wrong.
As the apoc reloaded datasheet has the front HB and the HS on the pic but not in the rules,
we should get the FULL equipment in WD march 09.

Not sure I like the Stormlord, it has a massive turret for what looks like twin linked assault cannons, its pretty out of proportion.

Hmm looks like the Plasma Annhilator would fit quite nicely in that gap, wonder if FW would just sell the weapon on its own.

Looks a nice tank though, the Vulcan looks great, £6000 for a kidney on the black Market they say. Hmmm.

Looks like I'll be purchasing at least 2 kits at the same time so that I don't have to decide whether to make the Storm Lord or the Shadowsword first(I wanna see the rules of the new variants before I decide which of those I want).

So where to the passengers embark and disembark? or do they just leap out of the gaping hole in the roof, and shine flashlights in your eyes?

oh and... in Apoc reload the stats for the stormlord say it gets heavy flamer sponsons, but the little classified diagram says it gets heavy bolters.. I guess it can't have the bolters since it's not mentioned in the rules part but that would be nice if it could

Holy crap the Stormlord is awesome. You even get some pintle heavy stubbers!

However, it looks like the superstructure doesn't fit all that well onto the main hull. There is a huge gap at the rear on the Shadowsword.

That would be the crew compartment.

I'm disappointed that there's no engine deck anymore, I'll have to fudge some excuse like maybe they mounted the engine in front under the gun casement. I like the pintle-mounted heavy stubbers, at the very least they make good bitz to be used for other conversions.

I too noticed the gap in the Shadowsword, and it's not even the first one seen in the pics of the new model, I hope it's just regular studio negligence (remember the first studio Baneblade we saw good pics of, with its tracks built askew?). It won't be a bid deal to fix, I'm sure, but I shouldn't have to.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

You have no idea what A Vulcan Mega Bolter does do you?

The stormlord can fire 30 Strength 6, AP3 shots a turn with that 'out of proportion' gun, hehe

That is a RL Vulcan Cannon.

That is it mounted on an A-10 (its the little chin mounted gun). Gun look small but the entire plane had to be designed around it as it is so god-damned powerful.

Same idea with the stormlord. You are mounting a Titan class weapon on a tank, so the normal long arm and ammo storage is internal in the tank, so the guns might look a little small for what they actually are, and do.

Oh and just for size comparison, here is the A-10s Vulcan Cannon removed from the plane...

Cheers!

That would be the crew compartment genius.

Wow, they must make really small IG now if they fit in the gap under the superstructure on the Shadowsword... genius.

Like the Leman Russ is in scale :-p or any other vehicle save for bikes. This is nothing new. If they made anything to correct 28mm heroic scale the kits would cost more, and your gaming table would seem a lot smaller.

Apoc reloaded:
(German)

1st set of sponsons = heavy flamer/lascannon
2nd set of sponsons = either heavy flamer or heavy bolter - /lascannon

still: no hull mounted HB (front).

This may change in March (WD datasheets).

For my book (The US version) it just says heavy flamers.. 1st set is flamers then when it lists the options it also says just flamers. Maybe something will change in WD I have a spare set of sponsons so I will be building my stormlord with 2

Shadowsword seems cool too but I dunno if I'll get that.. not right off the bat anyway.

Sorry my bad!

That gap is most likely there because it's the show model, it has to swap between Shadowsword and Doomhammer super structures.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

Why does the Shadowsword have lascannons on the sponsons? There is no option to buy them. : /

Yea nothing in IA or the new Apoc. Reloaded HC. The sponson has a targeter giving the tank BS4, thus no room for LC.

Perhaps the engines are mounted in the middle of the tracks similar to some newer motorcycles/the Bat Pod that have motors inside the wheels?

There is no Shadowsword in Apoc: Reload, only in IA: Apoc, which has rules that fits the FW version of the Shadowsword. The Shadowsword will be getting a new datasheet in WD(and probably online, too) to fit in with the new kit(with LC sitting on the sponsons).

Why are the exhausts in the rear panel, then? If the engines are mounted in the tracks, there's no point to run the piping like that. No, it's nothing more than a badly thought-out design.

No doubt, but I was giving it the benefit of the doubt considering it's nothing more than a box of add-ons for an older kit in the first place.
