from the gw website
"The Shadowsword is one of the longest-serving super-heavy tanks in the service of the Imperium, and it is armed with one of the most devastating weapons known to man - the Titan slaying volcano cannon.

The Stormlord is armed with a Vulcan mega-bolter giving it unparalleled anti-infantry firepower. This coupled with a large transport capacity makes it popular with commanders who favour mobility over traditional static formations.

This box set contains one large multi-part plastic super-heavy tank. Included are all the components need to assemble one of six super-heavy variants: the Shadowlord, the Stormlord, the Doomhammer, the Banesword, the Banehammer, or the Stormsword."

Wow, same price as the baneblade, too. i know whichone i want

The Stormlord looks savage and I might just have to pick one up just to have that model......plus it's suppose be good versus infantry. I have avoided getting the Baneblade for so long but man that Stormlord looks good

No stormblade. Very disappointing. I was envisioning many Warhound scratchbuilds using the spare barrels from this kit.

I wonder what the Doomhammer, the Banesword, or the Banehammer look like stat wise. The stormlord looks great, but I am a little let down by the kit. You have two long barreled variants and three short barreled variants with frankly very little difference in appearance. It all depends which little wiggit you glue to the end of the barrel. I guess I was hoping for something a little more imaginative.

I would buy it for the stormlord as that variant is really nice to look at and is deadly vs. infantry. The problem with the D strength weapons is they are not really all that effective versus Deamons or anything with immunity to instant death / invulnerable saves. It has great range though.

Yeah it is terrible...I never wanted a Baneblade because I don't really care for Apocalypse battles. Ran way to many of them while I worked for GW but god if that model doesn't look good.

Not a fan of Baneblade or Apoc so maybe my opinion is biased, anyway, I agree with you. There is precious little visual difference between one variant and the next except the length of the gun barrel.

The one with a twin assault cannon turret actually looks a bit silly IMO. However, I suppose it does something brilliant in Apoc and is not for regular 40K use.

I have never played a Apoc match in my entire life, and i never will, but this super heavy will be in my games playing as a heavy tank or objective, but most of my games are historical (themed) and i already have part of a Vulture in my sand themed board

I was hoping the Vulcan Mega Bolter would be large enough to use as a Supa-Gatla for a Stompa, but that looks kind of tiny. Maybe I'll just slap all of the different gun variants on there and call it a day.

That stormlord is the coolest tank I have ever seen, I love it. Can't wait to get one to roll with my Baneblade.

I second that emotion.

Actually, I can see wanting a Baneblade and one of these kits, but the BB stil has it's own special place. The demolisher and the BB cannon are a, anti-infantry combo that's hard to beat with any of these more focused-purpose variants.

Also feel the lack of a Stormsword, but there are plenty of deodorant packages out there that would do fine in a pinch.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I kinda like the look of the Doomhammer / Banehammer, though the Shadowsword is classic...

I'm waiting for the datasheets to come out before I finalize model plans, though it'll probably be Baneblade & Shadowsword when all is said and done. .

I have been looking for a transport that was worthy of my Khorne Berzerkers, and the Stormlord is it. I can see it now. They roar up, blast off all the weapons and while the enemy is deafened by the noise of the vulcan mega-bolter and shocked by the massive casualties, the sons of Angron leap into their midst! Yeah, that will be a nice break in the middle of my growing WAAAGH!

Okay, so what is a Banehammer, Doomhammer, and Banesword? As in, what weapons do they have. Anyone know?

Also, the Stormlord is was disappointing. The guy who did his in plasticard made a WAY nice Vulcan Mega-bolter.

Don't worry - GW will post the stats in the March WD accompanying the kit release.

If that kit really is a complete kit with all six variants, I might just buy one when I move out from my parents,

Wouldnt it be cheaper for GW to release their kits, and then seperate upgrade kits for the variants? I know we the customer uses magnets to swap , but from the seller's point of view, GW is the only company that does this.

@Luna: Have you ever looked at the military modeling world?

You will find that they do the same as GW. For example, they will typically release a basic Panzer III tank. They will then do each of the minor variations from Ausf.A to Ausf.N, then go on the the StuG assault guns from A to G, and then the StuH SPG and other variants. From one core Panzer III chassis, it's not uncommon to have a dozen or more distinct separate kits release based on it.

Technically, they could release a Panzer III chassis by year, and then a Panzer / StuG upgrade kit, but that just isn't what is done in the industry.

That's true, but what they do more seldom is put those variants in one box. It still happens on occasion, though, Dragon and AFV Club do 3-in-1s or closely related vehicles such as Sdkfz 251 variants.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

No not really, i have only purchased one military model kit in my life ( its the APC in my IG army pic in gallery )
and haha.... im so awful at it, i only glue together the outside shell, never bothered attaching any of the engines / interiors :"P

i only suggested that since alot of the mecha / Japanese kits has different seperate variation kits.

Wow I guess that Stormlord is one of those models that is going divide peoples opinions. You either love it or hate it. Personally I think it's a terrible design. It's got no engine for starters. There doesn't appear to be any means of the troops getting in and out of the troop compartment. They should have made the front part of the vehicle a fully enclosed troop compartment with an assault ramp (ala: Land Raider).

Also, the Vulcan Mega Bolter is a bit silly. How is the gun aimed? The enitire vehicle pivots? This just seems ludicrous for a multi-barrel weapon. You'd want to have a generous sweeping fire arc that you can traverse rapidly and accurately for a gun like this.

I know, I know. It's just game. Get over it. Well I like my guard vehicles to be logically consistant. These are the kind of things that will prevent me from using a model in the game. It could be one of the most powerful units available to the army, if I despise the model I'll not use the unit.

The other five variants very good. I'll most likely pick up a kit for them. A simple magnetic barrel swap should enable one to field any of the five variants. I'm not sure what the difference between is however.

@Luna: No biggie.

@Aga: those 3-in-1s are relatively new phenomena. But for grins, count the number of Panzer III chassis kits Dragon has produced since, say, 1990...

I think it's probably close to 40, given that they're now doing a 2nd generation to replace some of the older stuff.

Apparently you haven't seen what Bandai does to the Zaku II. They have 30 different versions of that kit over the 2 scales they normally produce.
What's the difference you ask?
How about plastic color or a differently shaped exhaust nozel. Often times you'll get parts to build the un-upgraded kit inside the upgraded version simply because it's cheaper to make a "master" sprue with a mojority of the parts and then throw the new parts in with the old and market it as a "new" kit.

I think what GW is doing is damned smart on their part, just like marketing the big rule book months before the starter game is available.
