Not really. What do YOU do to save some green in this time of economic strife (if your country is doing well, my policy is "I hate you")

1. Ordering off of different sites.

2. Using alternative modes of storage. Those damn army cases are just to pricey.

I havent actually done much with regard to Warhammer. In fact, Ive been able to spend more on models because Ive cut down in other areas.

I find not buying a new squad 'til youve finished the one youre working on helps.

& Ive started writing every purchase I make, no matter how small down in a little black book to keep track of my spending. It really helps cos you think 'do I really need that pie for lunch?' or whatever, 'cos you know its got to go into the Book of Doom.

In the ring! Oh Yeah!

Whoa, Jack, that's not a bad idea there. I'll have to talk to my Macho Accountant and see if I can get one of those yellow legal pads from him to keep track of my spending.

Right now, the Macho Man doesn't do a whole lot different with his mini buying, because with all my acting and wrasslin' and Slim Jim Commercials, Macho Man has one macho painting backlog, bigger than ol' Andre the Giant his-self!

Macho Man is not proud of this, but I did have to order my very incredible Ork Stompa from a different source than my favorite local gaming store / wrasslin' ring, in order to save some macho green.

But these is tough times, brothers, so Macho Man says " you gotta do, whatchoo gotta do!"

Oh yeah!

I imagine that Andre the Giant's painting backlog isn't that big since he probably stopped buying miniatures in 1993...

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell

Oh no, brother Gavin, I was sayin' the Macho Man's backlog of minis is as large as Andre the Giant his self was large! The Macho Man pays his respects to his dear-departed nemesis and sometimes friend, Oh Yeah!

I think he's fething AWESOME and should be given some sort of medal. I love Macho Man, oh yeah!

Anyway, sadly enough I've abandoned the "pay where you play" thing and keep looking for deals online almost exclusively. I still try to buy something every time I go to the local store, but I won't buy the bulk of my stuff there.

Buy pistol and rifle cases. I fit all my Carnifexes in one case and more than 100 other Tyranids (including my Warriors) for a grand total of $38.

Compared to GW, I saved more than $200.

I laugh at those who lived beyond their means with credit when I pay cash for everything in my life.

'Ard Boyz basically killed my interest in 40K so GW saved my money for me.

Well, me being my usual, responsible self...

I buy what I want when I want, ensuring I buy enough Baccy, Rizlas and Filters to the last the month on payday, and then promptly wizz my wages up the wall.

Example? 5 pints on Monday, 4 pints last night (just couldn't managed another Porter! So heavy!) 16 new Dr Who VHS, new Skirmish rules, new World of Darkness book, Ork Nobz, Blackheats Omnibus, and sundry other bits and bobs.

Not bad for a weeks spending!

Not to totally de-rail this thread, but I just noticed Mattlov's sig has a grammatical error.

It should read 'this is an horrible way to type' not 'this is a horrible way to type'

Oh well, it tickled me...

On topic, I have an 11-month old and am getting married in May, so my chances of spending money on gaming stuff are slim to bugger all - and I think slim just left town

But wimmins have....fringe benefits....

Definitely sell the Sprog. It's less second hand. Perhaps to someone about to be really old in the next ten years as a set of spare internal organs?

The monies in the marketing you know.

Simple answer for your problem - make sure an army is on the bridal registry!

And to make sure the little woman is not ticked off, make sure you put on a second one too - for her!!!

1. Only buy what I want/need (exception: I always buy something at the FLGS when I game there).
2. use Neal at the Warstore, Chaosorc, and other online retailers.
3. Trade and ebay as much as possible.
4. Sell off stuff I don't need and use that money to rebuild my lead mountain.

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

No, in proper standard English, it's a horrible way to type. The "H" isn't silent...

That said, gratz on the kid & GL with the nuptials. My condolences on your gaming time & budget.

"The mountain will come to Muhammad!"

I've cleaned out the other gaming budgets to justify Warmachine/ Hordes/ Fantasy
spending.

I also try to paint more and not spend more than a certain amount that I can paint
or play with. However, this just taught me to paint faster.

I still have not gone into debt doing this, . If the car ever breaks down, though, the
mountain will have to wait.

I didn't make it, I just use it.
