Yes I know I've got loads of armies and lots of things to paint but I wanted something new. So basically I swapped my tyranid army for a space marine army, which will become Imperial Fists to duke it out with the Iron Warriors I'm currently painting up.

Just for your infoI was getting fed up with the tyranid army and it has been on the back burner for almost a year. I hardly play with it and I have no love for the monsters from space like I do for the noble space marines, the chaotic orks, the powerful necrons and the good guys gone evil iron warriors. Seemed a shame to keep hold onto it when someone could use it, so instead of purchasing new models it was swapped.

Here is my potential army list for 2,000 points plus any other models I have as well:

HQ

1 x Captain w/ storm shield & lightning claw painted and washed

1 x Command Squad w/ 4 x power weapons painted and washed SOLD THESE REPLACED WITH ASSAULT TERMINATORS!

1 x Librarian w/ terminator armour painted and washed SOLD!

5 x Assault Terminators w/ thunder hammers & storm shields painted and washed

10 x Marines w/ meltagun & rocket launcher painted and washed

10 x Marines w/ meltagun & heavy bolter painted and washed

10 x Marines w/ plasmagun & plasma cannon painted and washed

3 x razorbacks painted and washed two

1 x Rhino painted and washed

Fast Attack

5 x Bikers inc attack bike - 1 x meltagun sgt w/ power fist painted and washed SOLD!

Heavy Support

1 x Land Raider painted and washed

1 x Land Raider painted and washed

1 x Land Raider Terminus Ultra painted and washed

Here's some pics of what I have managed to glue together so far. Apothecary is custom made as I brought a normal combat squad box set and the painted dreadnought I cannot take credit for, though I am aiming for that paint scheme!

Is it just me or is your captain tilting backwards? Nice apothecary though.

He is tilting backwards now that you mention it, the Apothecary isn't bad. I think the servo skulls add a nice touch.

Here's some pics of half the scout unit I've done and also two test terminators. I'm not keen on the yellow its come out patchy but you cannot see it on the pictures. The sepia wash does cover it up a fair bit.

The scouts I realised I had painted the gauntlets same colour as the uniform. So to match the crotch piece I'm going to paint them black.

Let me know what you think about the yellow. I'm going to give white undercoat a try. I did try dheneb stone over black but still leaves patches about the same as two coats of darksun yellow.

The yellow is golden yellow. Perhaps it is bright because of the desk lamp behind? Might look grubby because of wash as well.

I'm fed up of putting on loads of coats. I've done two darksun yellow foundation and then two golden yellow and still looks patchy. I'm going to try white undercoat but I suspect I will have problems with that as well as I tried dheneb stone and looked the same as two coats of darksun, except I had given one coat of stone.

Yellow looks cool but damn hard to paint! Too watery!

Well I've been a bit busy lately as the other half has been in hospital so haven't had time to upload pics. Now got quite a few.

A few terminator pics. Not too happy with this as the undercoat was black and they look quite rough.

All the models look good, but the techmarine really stands out for me.

"I.. I know my time has come" Tethesis said with a gasp, a torrent of blood flowing from his lips.
"No! Hang on brother!!" Altharius could feel the warmth slip away from his dear sibling's hands

Tethesis's reached out his bloodied arm to Altharius's face.
"I..I have one final request"
Altharius leaned close to listen, tears welling in his once bright eyes.
"make sure th..they put my soulstone in a tank... it'll be... real fethin' cool"
"Yes, you're gonna be the most fethin' cool tank!!" burning hot tears streaked down Altharius's face, as he held his brother's soul in his grasp.

Something you might want to try is my method (not really mine) base coat white, go over with brush and white to cover any spots left behind. Once you have a nice coat over everything then use yellow ink to cover the entire model. If you want you can go over that with your choice of yellow but it is only necessary if you missed a spot basecoating.

Your army looks like its off to a good start. Keep it up.

considering the speed at which you must be painting the quality is very high. My Imperial Fists were golden yellow on white undercoat and blochiness was aproblem for me too. Nowadays I use a basecoat of fiery orange and keep adding white for the highlights, up to pure white (by which time the model looks like a peach!), then a wash with yellow ink and it all comes together.

The latest pics are basecoated white. They might appear blochy because of sepia wash, though the terminators were base coated black and don't loko the best.

Thanks for the compliment Maesltrom. I've used white undercoat for the latest patch, then golden yellow then the sepia wash to get in the armour joints etc.

Right finally a update after not doing anything for a month!

Well the Captain has lost his command squad, though has bene replaced by some assault terminators. Also the librarian has been swapped wiht a chaplain to make a more affective unit.

Here's a few pics.

I'm also in the process of changing my former Ultramarines to Blood Angels, here's the few models I am working on atm - see my Blood Angels project log.

Updated the painted list. I've actually traded some off as I no longer use them, or exchanged for better units. All I have left to paint is transports and two and a half tact squads

Will get pics up soon of the latest stuff, my phone has gone in for repair and with the temp one I don't have any way of uploading the photos :(

Well its taking me ages to paint anything these days with the bambino. Hopefully two nights a week I can get stuff done. Here's what I have done recently, also I'm working on the other half of the tact squad which I hope to finish tonight . I'm glad marine armies are small!

After the tact squad is done I need to get some more golden yellow paint as I've ran out! Got just enough to sort out any mistakes. Should be getting some of that tomorrow though

With the librarian you do realize they are supposed to be painted blue with only the shoulder/knee cap or some icons of the chapter showing? so with your librarian terminator, it would be blue with yellow shoulder pads but your method is fine if thats how you roll

For painting Yellow I like to use a black undercoat then a Bubonic Brown coat and then Yellow paint I find it works well for me.

Cutting the solid ones don't really work that well it works for the ultras upside down omega cause there is open area in the center to remove.

Fair bit going on lately as I wanted to get as much done as possible for a game I had no wednesday just gone. I have recently painted two tact squads and a razorback for each of them Only things left is one more tact squad, one razorback and two land raiders and I'm done. Though I am tempted to up my collection a little bit....

I will get pics up soon. Need to take some . Also unlike my other models which I have use some model stone base I will flock these. Reason is the stone is coming off as the models are stored in battleforce boxes and in time will come off all together. So I need something more durable. Shame, they looked good too.
