I will be making a USCM army based off the Aliens movie, Alien 3, Aliens PC game, all graphic novels, novels, and comics, as well as the US Colonial Marines Tech manuel.

I'll run it as an Imperial Guard/Inquisitor/Space Marine attached army.

I'll use the current cadian models, new cadians & new catachans coming out, new kasrkin/stormtroopers coming out, marine scout models (reg scouts, sniper scouts, and biker scouts), and even terminators (as seen in Alien 3 & Alien Omnibus'), and convert walkers/dreadnoughts into exo-combat suits seen in Aliens PC game & comics! I want this to be 90%+ GW minis & bits too.

All lasguns will be replaced with hasslefree m41a pulse rifles 28mm, all heads in the army will be scout heads, all bases will be either deck plate, alien landscape, and a half deck plate/half alien base. Heavy bolter teams will become a smart gunner (heavy stubber) and a reg marine (cadian) with pulse rifle on large base that is deck/alien with egg on it! (all these bases and pulse rifles exist, and no conversion is required!). Shoulder lamps will be converted and placed, and the actual painting of these minis will be as if they are in the dark corridors of LV426. Paint scheme will be the colors from the movie Aliens. (olive drab & camo)

The movie also had sentinel guns, and I will work those in too as a heavy weapons choice.

Also, every model will have a pulse rifle strapped on him/her to tie in the USMC theme...

I'll use ripper jacks to make dynamic bases/situations, have dead aliens (converted genestealers) on bases, acid burned bases, alien hands coming through deck plate, use clear glossy cualking for gooey look like in aliens where there are eggs on the bases, have a cadian with chest burst on a base, and a tyranid head (the warrior one that looks like a queen) strapped on the front on an apc, with "the queen is dead" written on it.

The APCs will all be Razorbacks (closest looking vehicle to USCM apc) with dual side doors, front gun, and top dual gun in upper back, very good as is. I'll use it as either chimera or razorback.

Valkyries will have USCM nose art as seen in the movie & other media. Also, on one Valkyrie I am going to have an alien (converted genestealer) hanging on it and the door gunner taking aim at it!

Also, models will have eagle patch of the USCM on right shoulder armour.

Tremies are like 40k termies, but heads look like tau crisis suit heads & shoulder pads are slightly different. Armour is white & guns are red. Easy enough.

Dreadnoughts will be used as either dreads (space marine attachment) or sentinels (Imp Guard). Conversion work is required, but easy.

I'll also mix in the Colonel Schaffer model and the Creed model will be the USCM general. Since this will be like a Xenos run army, my Inq & retinue will be Ripley conversion, Bishop, LT, and marines from movie. Newt will be a familiar.

These are just some of my concepts so far. Any suggestions or idead thus far?

Ya, that sounds like a ton of work, but if its executed nicely, it should look pretty sweet.

Good luck.

...as an aside, I do beleive that there was a model of the dropship that was approximatly the same scale as 40k is in....

....if you could scrounge up a couple, maybe even "combine" it with the Valkeries...could be something special.

...that and you simply must also do up an Autocannon HS squad as remote sentries.

If you can get a hold of it, there was a Colonial Marine Technical Manual that spelled out the different variants of the APC as well some artwork of a colonial marine tank as well as what was planned to be the marine's sniper rifle.

It'll be cool to see some "power loader" sentinels.

But how about for some Hellguns?:

Given that the xenomorphs are already IN the game, I don't see how anyone could argue about Colonial Marines.

Don't worry, Ripley - me and my squad of professional badasses will protect you!

You will, however, require a whole crapload of this awesomeness EVERYWHERE:

I had similar inspiration when I was creating my Daemonhunters army. I already had a Guard army (Tanith) so I wanted to come up with a new Guard to induct. For the guardsmen, I combined Cadian and Catachan parts, and used cut-down bolters for the pulse rifles.

For the APC, I used the Chimeras. Here's what they ended up looking like:

Here are some pics with it unpainted, so you can see where I used plasticard and the like:

Your APC conversion, the rivets on the plasticard, are they made with a holepuncher(not sure if that is the english word, thats what they call it in swedish)?

If so your holepuncher's smallest size is smaller than mine.

It is a very nice conversion.

IIRC, I simply took a cylindrical plastic rod and chopped it to rivet-sized pieces.

I've got an extra small puncher for just that, you can get them at craft stores (stores chicks go to and buy scrap-booking crap).

If someone wanted to do a Alien conversion based off Nids.... where would be a good place to start?

Alien's head in books or comics are always described as "dark glistering banana shaped"

Thus it looks like a choco banana o_- I guess it'll look more obvious if its fully covered in chocolate lol.

I don't know if anyone has noticed this, but the eM4 miniatures produced for Future Skirmish (Troopers) range, seem to be a 28mm scale rip off of the USCM.

Now when I say rip off, I don't mean this in a bad way, these miniatures blow away GW Imperial Guard miniatures and considering they're white metal, they are cheaper as well.

I bought a load of these to use as Mercs for Infinity, but after reading about this project, I realised these would be perfect!

http://www.em4miniatures.com/acatalog/TROOPERS.html

Unfortunately, the photos on the site don't do the actual miniatures any justice, and it wasn't until I actually had them in my hands, that I realised where they're inspiration had come from.

If the OP is interested I will try to post a more detailed close up!

Man down, Man down....
