I was just curious if you plan to model a gyro-stabilizer on a model, so they can carry the smartgun alone like this did in the movie?

No, sorry, he's right, it stinks up the place, almost as much as Aliens 4.

With all the good stuff in the comics and books and they came out with that junk! :-(

This is Necros's work, which might help to inspire you.

Wow, that is some pretty cool stuff. If I played Nids, this is what I would want.

The James Cameron concept for Aliens 3 would have been awesome. Remember the space station in the second movie, lets just say the Sulaco would have brought one back there. Add more marines from a boarding crew stuck on the ship as its put under quarantine.

If you guys haven't seen the directors cut of Aliens 3, that atleast makes more sense. The theatrical release of Aliens 3 is probably the weakest.

Aliens 4 was written by Joss Weadon and it is interesting to watch the movie with the understanding that those characters were prototypes for Firefly, kinda a backwards Aliens meet Firefly. Hey number 4 had Ron Perlman and that guy from CSI... you know that African American guy *sarcasm*. Just saying even if it was a stinker, it was a better stinker than the AVP movies.

There are already 'sentry' guns in 40k available to guard forces. They're called 'sentry guns' and available from Forge World (or you could just copy the pics and make your own).

Heavy bolter ones would do the job quite well.

You'd need something bigger to take on the bigger bugs, though.

Just as an FYI, Hasslefree's pulse rifles are really made for 28mm minis rather than 28mm heroic - they look kinda small on a Cadian. I can't remember right off who used them, but a guy here awhile back made some Harakoni with Pig Iron Heads, and Hasslefree jump packs and pulse rifles. You might be able to find them here to get an idea of what the real size of them is.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Seconded on the 28mm weapons + Cadian minis. I've got 28mm M4A1s for a few of my Cadians, and it only works if you give them slightly smaller heads (the sleek vehicle helmets for instance) and squint.

The EM4 TROOPER minis are AMAZING. I own about a dozen. Unfortunately they are very small compared to GW minis (they're on the small side of standard 28mm, honestly), apart from them not being tourney-legal. If they were slightly bigger I'd happily buy fifty or so and run a non-tourney army with them. EM4 is a great bunch, too, good service.

Good luck! I'm looking forward to seeing more pics.

I am not sure if I can really add much to the thread since there are so many idea already suggested.

I am working on a single squad from the movie to be used in space hulk to proxy in place of terminators (using horrorclix aliens for genestealers proxies. Funny how the game imitates the movie for me to bring it all full circle) and after looking at several options, I think cadian torsos with catachan legs are about the best way to go without massive amounts of sculpting.

I also have a few sets of the hasslefree pulse rifles and almost was disappointed by the scale. They are in fact to scale, but after seeing GW's outrageous scaling they come off as quite dinky. I cut off a lasgun from the arm and the pulse rifles work quite well.

Once I get a hold of a female cadian sculpt, I will have a good corporal dietrich.
Catachan female grenade launchers also make a good vasquez model if you are able to remove the knife and modify the arm arrangements to carry a smart gun..

[edit]

And to those who either voted 'NO' or "unsure it would fit in" to the poll, you are some seriously fething stupid people.
I am sure cadians have absolutely no relation to the USMC design ethic, nor does the catachn grenade launcher have anything to do with vasquez, nor space hulk have anything to do with the movie aliens. And if you believe that, then I am here to tell you that the world economy is just fine and you should invest all your money into AIG because they certainly know how to manage funds.

Seriously, pull your head out of the GW flavored koolaid for a moment and keep in mind that many things fit into the 40K strata. GW rips off ideas from so many sources it really isn't funny.

Wow, Hellfury....she's awesome! She fits in really well with GW scale and miniature feel without going into the bulky realms that GW treads.

Delephont, you DO know that that's a GW miniature, right? In fact, that's the model directly out of the blister with paint on it. I've got 2 of the things.
