Well, the thread title explains, just post your very first painted model, no matter how bad, and, if you want, put up a current model to show how far that you have come, ive only started this thread as a bit of fun, i have no idea if there has been one before this, but what the hell.
Anyway, ill get the ball rolling, this is my first ever mini, bad quality of the picture, ork kommando

there you go, as ever, comment and critisize.

thanks.

For a first model that's pretty good. I don't have any pics of the first model I ever painted - in fact I don't even still have the model. It was the wizard from Hero Quest.

My first was a 'Marauder Miniatures' ogre.
The guy in the shop sold a couple of them to my mum with a 'Citadel Starter Paint Set'. He'd said something about bigger models being easier to paint, robbing b@stard!

Edit:That was when the sets looked like this. Does anyone have pics of the rest of these boxes anywhere? I'd love to see them again!
Edit:Added Pic.

Its been so long ago, but my first painted miniatures included some eldar guardians, jet bikes, and about half of the falcon as shown as my avatar. My jet bikes actually turned out surprisingly well, but my guardians...I just cry when I look at them.

That's a pretty swell improvement there, Grey Death, although the first one was a lot better than the average first miniature.

Wow...my first model was 23 years ago, using shiny Testor's model paint (UGH!). Long gone (to hide my shame...lol!)

Hmm...I think I have some of my old ones around here somewhere though. Not my first but very old. I'll snap some pics tomorrow, mayhap.

Some lovely figures guys.

Most of my early ones were sold.

I used to do commission painting for AU$4 a pop back in 1990 or so, sold the other ones that were decent and didn't keep the crap ones.

I sent my first one (which I was proud of at the time) over to my Grandma in England (one of the Citadel "Fighters" when they made their figures for role playing games). Started off with Humbrol enamels for a couple and then moved onto Ral Partha paints which were great - still going strong in some cases (LOL - these paints are nearly as old as the AVERAGE Dakka age!)...

One of my figs from around this time is this guy with a freehand banner:

this standard was considered quite good at the time, but looking around is just slightly above tabletop standard for many armies on here.

Here is my last painted unit:

I don't even have my first army anymore so I can't post them. When I get home I will see if I can't snap a few of my second army and the last models I painted.

My first army was Chaos and they sucked. For whatever reason, I decided white armor with red trim. Still tryin to figure out what I was smokin' so I can get some more.

I wish I could paint well. I don't think I do half bad.

Heh, no pic for mine but it was a Black Templar marine that i simply painted white over the shoulders and left the black undercoat exposed. I really had an eye for detail though because i painstakingly painted the eyes red and the chest detail gold. He was a real looker...

Blimey, let's see.....it would have been around '82, something by Citadel, and would have been a fighter or a thief for the first D&D, back in the days when you got 3 figures for £1!

Needless to say it is long gone...

"Bloody typical, they've gone back to metric without telling us."

"As the days go by, we face the increasing inevitability that we are alone in a godless, uninhabited, hostile and meaningless universe. Still, you've got to laugh haven't you?"

"We demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty!"

"Mind the oranges Marlon!"

My first minis were from Historicon, I don't have them anymore becuase they stank hard.

My latest minis haven't improved much since when I saw how badly I did on some of my first minis, I quit the painting aspect of gaming for a while.

My first minis were about 1981.

I had a few, cannot remember which I painted first. Among the citadel line, I had the 'Bard with Sword and Lute' (FA6 on this page: http://www.solegends.com/citf/citfa/citfa82cat.htm)

'Dwarf Ballista' (FTD16 http://www.solegends.com/citf/citftd/citftdpics.htm)

'Dwarf Champion' and Man-Beast(FA29 and FA3) http://www.solegends.com/citf/citfa/citfa81cat.htm) (I still have the Champion around somewhere, I will try to take a picture of my outstanding painting when 9 or 10 years old).

I had a lot of the Grenadier 'Advanced Dungeons and Dragons' line too (http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~tpope/sol/grenadier/advanced_dnd.html)
