Bloodcrushers.

* look great
* stupidly strong
* hard to kill quickly
* cheap on points

OR

Lootas.

* crazy cheap for points
* high Str, multiple shots
* can be fearless

I've always enjoy fielding a unit of Wrathguards ... they rarely make back their points but on the other hand they've always made it to the end of every game.

But best unit ... i think i'd have to go with ether a 20 strong battle sister squad (very cheap at 11pts each in with a 3+ save) or a unit of penitent Engines (these thing are dam fast ... they move 6"+a D6" and then can run or assault if in range)

Probably my all time favorite unit is a full boring squadron of heavy bolter attack bikes.

Firepower of a devestator squad combined with the maneuverability of a biker....what's not to love?

I have never failed to seize on 4+ in my life!

shane, dont forget the extra stats
and M.melta option aswell which is free

this and the ability to survive mixed with low points is why i prefer them to speeders

Now that I think about it, I must have some sort of odd fetish with the common land raider.

I've built and painted 9 total in my 40k career including one of the classic OOP ones.

It's 35 points, protects a unit completely from all incoming fire, can block LoS at key times, can run enemy units away with tank shock, and gives a foot-slogging unit more speed. And believe it or not, but stormbolters (or combi-bolters, as the case may be) are actually a pretty sweet amount of anti-infantry fire for the points.

I have only played Tyranid so I cant speak for all armies, but here is what I like.
Points:
Spinegaunt: How can you go wrong at 5 points each? They have fleet and move through cover! Or for 3 more points you can get without number and they just come back if killed. Great for tying up expensive enemy models and holding points.
Coolness:
Dakka Flyrant: Deep strike in and lay down 12 shots that you can reroll to hit and reroll to wound. Also the older model looks sweet.
Overall:
Dakkafex: 8 shots at str 6 and you reroll hit/wound. High toughness and armor. All for 113 pts, and as a bonus you can take them as elite instead of heavy in 1500pt+ games!

I'd go with plague marines. Nicely priced for being very durable and pretty choppy, they can both hold and take objectives.

The Deceiver. What?

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

As a unit, the deceiver is cool. He has this drawback, though, that you have to play him in a necron army, which kind of makes him less impressive.

On a point-for-point basis, my choice has to be the simple unit of ork boyz.

Suicide squad of 3 flamers. I love them so much I bring 3. If they land even close to right, enemy squads go bye-bye. And if one drifts way wrong, it's only 105 pts, and I have 2 more...

Favorite - probably a squad of Nobz, they are perfect for a custom squad, no 2 units of them will be exactly the same. (you can say the same for many of the ork units now)

Best for Points - Ork boyz

Survivability - Plague Marines

Rules - Abaddon, there is just something about a WS 7, Str 8 PW, that hits at I6 w/4+d6 attacks, with reroll to wound...to bad he is so expenive, unpratical to take in under 2k games imo (he is pointed fairly though).

If points isn't an issue.

A full Nob biker squad or SM command squad on bikes with SS, LCs, and a few THs thrown in for fun.

Both units kill what ever they hit, and just don't die.

Favorite: Seraphim. So they are fragile and overpriced. But when they work, it is a thing of beauty.

Useful: Heavy Bolter Retributor Squad. They give Sisters the option to reach out and bless someone.
