Hey, I've lurked the site for a while but finally rememebred to sign up, was just curious how many gamers there are in Belfast who are 17/18 and older and are into playing 40k, WHFB, mordheim, necromunda, spacehulk, bloodbowl etc, aka most of the GW systems along with Classic battletech, and maybe a few of the other systems as i'd like to get more chance for games.

You might meet a few folks at Q-Con. It's on the 26-28th of June in Queens University Belfast. I'm a Dublin gamer but I'll probably head up. The Games Society in QUB is called Dragonslayers, and is bound to have a few wargamers floating around who would like a game.

Duce If my memory serves right I think we spoke before at the 40K online forum. So a big hello, unfortunately where we come from in the world there is not much happening, I myself am struggling at the minute; a few friends have went to university so I only get to game when they are back home, although I still have a few friends that are interested.
As mentioned above Q con is on the horizon and my gaming group will be attending in force so I think the plans for ourselves is to go to Belfast games workshop to get much-needed practice so you are more than welcome to tag along. Although in saying that we tend to avoid Thursday nights as it is generally swamped with undesirables! well it is not quite that bad it's just with limited space you never get a chance to game so we tend to go up on the quiet nights. You are more than welcome to come along
I have also made contact with the club in Drogheda Gamers http://droghedagamers.com/phpBB3/portal.php although they are over the border we are planning to head down. They run tournaments called game days once in a while would seem to be attended very well so we are looking to support them and represent the North other than that there is not much happening.
Give me a shout when you are thinking of heading up

Hey,
Your memory is right we spoke on another site a whle back.
Well if your looking practise then i think i'd mentioned a club at the boatclub in Strandmillis, its got about 5-6 with a few more lesser regulars who play, so i'm keen to get more game sin to practise, if your looking for more games of not just 40k but other systems should pop in.
As you said it does seem that its quiet round bangor / ards area for people who are a bit older. I've been noseying about to see if ic an find any more as i'd like to get more games going.
If your interested it monday nights that the club meet and you and your friends would be more than welcome. (Also means i might get different armies to face) can fire you the website over if curious.

I think I know some of the guys that attend the boat club well they used to anyway, Trevor I think he's called
Although the boat club hasn't exactly got the reputation for 40K Warhammer, I think it's mainly role-play board games etc. although they do seem to be good at what they do.
But yes maybe throwing my head around the door one night in the future might be an option games at the minutes are few and far between
I do know that dragonslayer's aspires to be more 40K Warhammer but I do not think they have achieved this Belfast as a whole is quite weak club wise it's a real shame

Nah i used to play there and i want to start again but recently i have just been playing with a mate.
Well i have an ork army now, very small but very angry. I have however just realised i probably wont even be able to play anywhere for the next couple weeks anyway (aint GCSEs a )
But yeah they play on thursday nights i think up in castlecourt and as i said before might even see you at Q-con.
p.s. not sure if its even worth a trip down but t-shirt heroes still has some of its old stock for rather cheap, but most of it is 4th edition

It definitely just goes to show that there is people on the local level
over last summer me and a few friends rented a hall from bangor Council for a few weeks we used to rent it on a Sunday afternoon
11 in the morning till four o'clock in the afternoon all in all it worked for what we wanted just somewhere to play meet up with friends nothing too serious.
there is no reason why this could not happen if there was enough support bearing in mind that use guys come from ards
It would not be too much trouble if a venue could be located locally start something on a monthly basis nothing to seriously but it can be arranged it all has to start somewhere. Or if there was a certain night we could all meet up at Belfast games workshop would maybe be a good start to introduce everyone.
And with Q con not too far away I think we could all do with some practice

Went down to T-shirt heroes today and there are a ton of blisters for £2! infact all the ones that are left are eldar. i picked up an ork warboss for £2, R.R.P £11.75! they also have a few boxes of stuff as well. So a trip down might be a decent idea if you want to get a few cheap eldar models.

Sup chaps
been contemplating starting up a Necro or mordheim campaign for a while now, I have been to QUB a couple of times but between work and other commitments I cant always make it
doesnt help I cant post on their forums to organise games :|
I am in belfast myself but would prefer to avoid the GW, just to many people and many of them undesirable, and my willingness to spend money there is rapidly waning
luckily I have a substantial living room and could easily accomodate a 4*6 or whatever
Also the thing with dragonslayers is the lack of scenery/decent tables/dedicated wargamers as they always have a lot of other stuff going on, now part of this is our own fault and as always its up to people to sort them selves out
But Unite all action has the right idea, perhaps schedule a game in GW to see if we can get along and from there see if we can be bothered with anything more serious
Edit: Duce you in ards or in belfast itself?
I am not really willing to travel out of belfast as I dont have transport but I am really wanting to concentrate on specialist games. Nothing beats fully painted warbands etc on properly done terrain.I have the scenery for necromunda already made but its not modular but would do us a couple of games till more can be made

Hey,
I'm From Ards itself but i drive, that and Belfast is literally 15 minute drive for me.
I think the lack of scenery is everywhere, but I've got some quickly thrown together hills ( WIP), but have a load of mordheim stuff which is mostly completed and also progressing on an entire city table for 40k or such.
Then its onto making some necromunda hive terrain and some bits for use in killteams.
like you Vel i kind of avoid the Belfast GW, one for the same reasons as you, and second becaus ei'm still in the learning phase so i prefer to play at the club where i'm not feeling pressured on time when i have to remember or look up something (For my own learning not rule lawyering).
If your wanting a second club option try http://www.tabletopnorth.org/forum/
even if you lurk you can see what is being played on the night so can pop down if strandmillis boatclub is close enough to you.
I'm happy to play soe mordheim or necromunda (though haven't had a chance to play Munda yet)

I was on it yesterday and considered coming down but you lot appear to be playing 40k and while i have the guts of an army it needs some work done to it and I am lacking motivation
Still learning myself to and have only ever played like 1 or two games of 40k
I live in south Belfast so its close enough

Should pop down, Don't have to play 40k and its casual enough you can learn and ge tinto the mood with fun games. thats whats keeping me painting my armies.
Plus you can ofcourse ask on the forums if you want to play something, someone will usually accept or try it out.
What armies do you have then for the different systems?
