well after completing my disciples of sodomy army with a successful blog here, i figured i would catalog my progress with the 2 warhound titans i bought from FW a few weeks ago. let me start of by saying i HATE assembling models, and i have on toe done on one of the titans and im already pissed off. but at least i have all the parts. so without further ado here we go:
ill be working on the feet and legs for a few days i can imagine. planning for gamesday will take away from that im sure, plus im painting some dwarfs as well.
wish me luck

Gotta love all the pieces just in the feet. Good luck. You do realize that by building 2 of those I'm going to have to buy another one for the Imperium. LET THE ARMS RACE BEGIN!

sorry for the blurryness, i dont own a tripod and i have the shakes sometimes (they go away when i hold my breath). I noticed it more when i got back from Iraq. i dont think i can help it :(
anywho, got the feet done in good time. my heart sank when i saw all the pistons for the toes, but after i assembly lined them it wasnt that bad. i just popped on some good pink floyd and went to town. once they dry overnight ill try to get the legs and the waist done tomorow for both. evidently you cannot magnetize the guns on this particular titan, but im sure as hell gonna try.

I didn't do it on mine because I'm fine with the plasma/bolter but you should be able to. The weapons are heavy but not that heavy. You can do it.

There is a way to change the guns just not magnetize them.
http://www1.mscdirect.com/CGI/NNSRIT?PMPXNO=1648982&PMT4NO=63234378
Drill a hole in the arm put one of these ^ in the hole and epoxy it then a washer and a small machine screw to the shoulder join then magnetize the top plate to the bolt.
Helicoils come in many sizes and thread count.

You might want to look at my guide on when I tried to magnetize my titan, be careful with how powerful you go and how you afix them. And I agree that the arms are just too heavy.

lol, not a huge hit. thankfully the british pound was at 1.41 to the dollar when i ordered, and i sold my nids to take the hit. i let go of 2 FW nid titans and replaced them with chaos ones.

Now is a good time to buy, I think I got mine when it was around 1.7-1.8 USD to GBP. I've been thinking about picking up a Mars pattern while the exchange is low, but I wouldn't be surprised to see a GW warhound in the next 2 years.
How sturdy are those legs you have in mid stride? Are you going to base your titans?

the legs are pretty sturdy mid stride, but i always base my titans anways. i have a good friend making me some nice wooden bases for them, i will add some rubble and paint them along with the titans.
im very particular when i do titans. warhounds shouldn't be in a static pose, they are fluid titans, very agile. its the same reason that i bought two titans, since warhounds are never fielded solo, usually in pairs or more so they can aid larger titans or use bait tactics to hunt prey.
i have the magnets in the weapons drying right now, i just need to inset the magnets into the shoulder rigs and they will be done.

these are 35 pound test rare earth magnets that i had laying around from when i made my mega gargant. they fit perfectly in the sockets of all the guns. i just sealed them in with glue and greenstuff. they are dry now and very "in place". the upper arm sockets are slightly smaller so they dont fit the magnets so im either gonna go with a washer for a magnetic surface, or cram the entiire socket with greenstuff and use a slightly smaller magnet from my supply.

I don't know, unless I just have bad luck, not only did that not work when I tried it, recently the big one I had on the hips came off. It was glued and sealed around the edges with green stuff. Unless you bury the mags in green stuff like I was able to do on the body side of the hips-over time it will come off. Other people I've talked to don't seem to have the same experience as me, maybe it is just luck.

im going to go with a nut in the shoulder position to hold the magnet in place, i had 4 of these laying around and they fit snig into the sockets. with a cramming of GS to hold them in i think the hold on the weapons will be strong enough for tabletop use. then im going to pin (prolly double pin) the shoulder bitz to the hull of the titans so the entire shoulder mount is a solid piece.

Very nice so far. Interesting to see that you were able to mag the weapons, I'd always been under the impression that they were too heavy. Anyway, you must be crazy buying two titans! Lol. Keep it up, my good sir!

and we have magnetized arms:
it was as simple as i knew it would be. magnetizing a titan is very similiar to magentizing a tank, or your favorite terminator captain. only thing that changes is the size of the magnets. the larger the model, the larger the magnet.
not much left to build before i start painting. im going to do the full interior on both titans, and start working on the bases as soon as soon as they get in. i still have 20 dwarf hammerers to paint and an organ gun plus crew as well as a second nurgle DP, so i dont think paint will happen til after gamesday this saturday.

I like the leg posing, though they are a bit samey. It'd be nice if the pose would've been reversed with the second one, if you go for "on the move" set up with both.

thanks for the suggestion. i didnt want to go to crazy with the legs for my first 2 titans. if i get a third ill make it a one leg in the air kind, running a pin right up one foot into the leg to stableize it.

I wouldn't trust a one leg approach to a titan. I don't base my titans, but if I did-a pinned leg wouldn't be enough, I pinned every one of the joints on the wolf class, I would suggest a pin from the raised foot to the base, then do something clever like a ork being squished holding his hands up.
