It varies. Does anyone know if the following are increasing in price?

Imperial Guard Infantry Squads (£15)
Terminators (£30)
Black Reach (£?)

Spain in Flames: Flames of War (Spanish Civil War 1936-39) Flames of War: Czechs and Slovaks (WWI & WWII) Sheffield & Rotherham Wargames Club

New info available yet on the increase. As a retailer, I've been hammering them for info, but nothing is available yet.

It comes into effect in four weeks (begining of June) doesn't it? They usually make a song and dance about getting things cheaper before the increase.

I don't think GW know yet. They seem to be doing it more on an item by item basis, less about their pricing block approach.

Four weeks before? Yeah, that sounds plausable.

They usually have some thing out by now, thats sort of odd? OK so heres a thought ( please keep your laffs to a min and restrain the urge to throw rotten produce) BUT what if given the current economy, they are reconsidering doing it this time around?

In all reality, I know many people who have left the hobby due to the poor economy, price increases, and many other money related details (such as splitting up IG infantry into 10 man 22$ boxes, one main reason for some people I know to actually LEAVE Guard all together). So why GW is continuing to INCREASE prices while most all the other model companies are either freezing or LOWERING their prices is beyond me. Its not like hobby shops are doing GOOD business. I know my local shop would have done a whole lot better if GW had sold them the valks for $35 to sell them for $50-$60. Half the Guard players at my shop did the smart money thing and pre-ordered their valks for $45! Then GW sends them out to shops for $70?! -does math- Man, is GW TRYING to close the gaming store industry?

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Sales are down, so they are increasing prices to make the same profit selling less models.

Yes it's idiotic, but that's par for the course for GW buissiness.

I think it will be as high as £5.00 in

hence why i stick to buying from ebay

lets face it, GW makes a fething killing with thier minitures.
i guess its just greed making them hike up prices.

if anything they will lose money as more and more people start to find cheaper places to buy (or even start casting things)

They will charge what the market will bear, based on what they perceive to be the inelasticity of demand vs. price. On a micro level (me) my elasticity of demand is really really high.

I for one have found cheaper ways of purchasing my gw stuff, but at the same time im also reigning in my spending due to the economy as a whole, i plan on doing an IG army and have the codex, but I will buy the battleforce, paint it, then add a unit, paint it and so on, no more impulse stuff for me unfortunately?

All over the U.S.

The pricing is already at the point that I know of talented independent business men who are making their own m***ds and m***ls just to see if they can. They have businesses where they make products from ****n so the cost of materials isn't a factor. These individuals are only doing this for their own benefit, not for profit. Yet, there are already gamers begging them to take the money they'd be spending at GW. The guys I know aren't going for it but at some point there will be people that will run the risk of the lawsuit.

I'm not encouraging a revolt against GW but am saying that GW is perilously close to pricing themselves out of the market. When talented people start to use the skills that this hobby teaches in order to save money, it will really hurt GW. This is because it is impossible to tell what is a cloned peice once the model is painted. GW can go after the occasional lone pirate but if people started to do this in large numbers they wouldn't be able to afford the leagal fees.

I really hope that they leave the pricing alone for a couple of years.IMO, They should consider the price increase they made for the increased cost of materials(Oil related) as their increase now that material prices are back down.

GW seems to be losing track of what makes them important. I've been saying this ever since they went public back 10 years ago. The second you become a publicly traded company you become a slave to your stockholders, not to your customers, who are the REAL reason you are in business.

It is the European way of doing business. It's the socialist way of doing business: Come down with the hammer instead of adapting to market changes and being agile and nimble. I think I've been dry for 4 months now... Ebay and trading with friends has been the only thing I've done.

It's not a socialist way of doing business, that's a remarkably interesting thing to say. those must be some interesting ideas you have.

It is however a monopolistic way of doing business, they own mayfair and park lane and they keep adding hotels in the safe knowledge that we'll keep buying the same stuff at higher prices.

They've got a point, i hate them for it but they've got a point.

At Vompire:

Your point about it being monopolistic is EXACTLY what I'm saying! Everything with them is centralized and has thus taken them further and further away from their market. One of the hallmarks of socialsim. GW certainly isn't socialist, but the way they operate certainly not a free market, democratic way of doing things.

They do in fact have a point... Who are they competing with in the 40k universe? They do have a monopoly, but their way of administration is about as responsive to the needs of others in the same way as an old guy before he takes his viagra.
