"Russian Teenager killed after winning 1on1

It has been reported that a Russian teenager has been killed by his friend after beating him several times in Counter-Strike 1on1. The fourteen year old suspect waited for his opponent to finish playing to then beat him with a brick.


As reported on PlanetHalfLife, both boys met at an internet café to play Counter-Strike against each other where the 17 year old Alexei kept winning against 14 year old Alexander. Due to this they already had several fights inside of the café but after a while the 14 year old left only to wait for his opponent.

Outside of the building Alexander was waiting with a friend until Alexei finished playing which was reported to be at about 3.00 AM. The 14 year old then started beating up his rival with a brick until he broke down and died due to the injuries. The boy has been sentenced to four years of imprisonment also under the circumstance that he did not intend to kill his victim"


How this kid only got 4 years is crazy...when you kill someone with a brick...how was it not intended? were you trying to tickle him?

Cool, don't ya just love Russia? Beating people with objects seems to be a trend around there, and here come to think of it.

Anyways, in the states, first they would have had a public outcry as to how Counterstrike totally caused this kid to get violent. Then they would execute him.

God Bless America, the only place were things are done the right way.

Anyway, I like Russia, but that's pretty much just because they outlawed emos. Or so I hear. Now, if it weren't for all the kids who get beaten to death with bricks because they won a game, I'd move there. Also, if the same were true for Halo, then I'd be screwed. My friends can hardly keep from killing me as it is.

I rember a story from the USA a couple of years ago were a kid shot his friend to death with a bow and arrow after they argued about who was going to play with a certain monopoly peice.Maybe its the modern age but kids are just getting more violent so I think we will see much more of this in the future.

QFT, this won't affect the industry at all. No-one gives a feth about the games industry since it's falling apart due to the recession.
3D Realms are folding end-of-week, and THQ just announced a loss of £300million. THAT's what's affecting the industry.

Seriously, It could easily have been any other game (not only on the computer I mean).

But I find it really frustrating to see that this kind of case always includes the line of 'didn't meant to kill him, so the punishment is shortered.

It is a brick. In most cases continuing the beatings after victim becomes unconciouss and/or lies on the ground will result in the untimely demise of said victim. The 'didn't mean to kill' argument Could by used sometimes if the killer in question would be below the age of, say, eight.

I honestly cant see anything they can go on here. What are they going to say, counterstrike influences people to murder with bricks?

So the players got an agressive competetive nature that's the games fault? Anyone who makes that argument is a complete and utter slow.

People of every age have been killing each other in fits of rage forever.

The difference is now we have the global media, and the viral media of the internet, so every one hears about every horrific event that happens, no matter how irrelevant it is to the rest of the world.

I would say video games could influence some people into acting in a violent manner.Yet I would say these people were/are in some way mentally unbalanced and not clearly able to define reality from the fictional world they delved into while playing the game.I would also say that afore mentioned person would already have pychotic tendancies as it is an all together differnet thing to shoot/beat up(etc)someone in a game then to beat them to death or the like,so that peson must already have had some sort of violent ways and such.Because like I say there is a large difference between shooting someone online and physically beating/shooting someone infront of you.

My point was to inform people of the following opinion.

Maybe its the modern age but kids are just getting more violent so I think we will see much more of this in the future.

That Murder rates in the majority of first and second world countries are going down, yet we are spammed constantly by the media with these terrible stories.

I don't really believe in the incarceration of children. Think about it. He basically only ages physically. Mentally he only learns about crime and how to operate in a prison. Our society bills prisons as a place of reform. But we all know someone put into the prison system is being culled into a permanent prisoner. Knowing how to do nothing else but live and exist in a prison and drenched in crime the prisoner invariable even seeks the prison back out. If he does so knowingly or unknowingly I am not sure.

I laugh and make jokes as a defense mechanism for the sorrow I share for those lost to such a system. As do I laugh at many things I feel great sorrow over.

The fact that this 14 year old boy will lose 4 years of his life to a prison system is even more depressing. Those 4 years are the formative years in which we all develop into the people we will mainly remain, barring a tragic event, for the majority of our lives. He will be a prisoner. Those four years will show him that.

This guy's a psychopath anyway.

He ambushed and killed someone with a brick. What's the prison system going to teach him? How to kill two people with bricks? How to steal someone's money while killing them with a brick? Oh no! He'll end up hardened!

The kid killed a single person with a brick, and he only meant to just really mess him up. He was a pissed off kid. We've all done stupid stuff.

Given we all probably didn't kill anyone.

But really? If he killed like 5 people I might be concerned. But if everyone was as up in arms about something that kills 400,000 people a year as this one kid killing this one other kid with a brick we might be a little better off in general.
