Hey all!
The team is working very hard again to make this year better than before. Here is what you can expect:
*Same cost for entry fee as last year ($35)! MiniCon is all about the hobbyist. You will play against other people that are there for the same reason as you... Beautifully painted armies, top sportsmanship, awesome tables and challenging missions. Everyone has a shot at winning an award.
*A great location to play. We want to run this event so that gamers from all over the Carolinas can attend. That is very important to the team.
*No independently created FAQs!!! We all pay for a rulebook and the codices. MiniCon is not about an independent group of players dictating how the game should played. If you are up to date on the rules from Game Workshop that is all you need to know. That's how it should be. We have well qualified walking judges such as myself that are there to assist you.
A fantastic weekend is guaranteed to all. This July we announce full details for the event. Keep an eye out.

My only question then is will there be anything put out in advance for rulings on the numerous issues that the rules leave open?
Some of them you pretty much have to decide before you can even create your army list ( GKTs in Valks, WH/DH allies ect...)
Others that determine if certain units are worth taking in your list ( Valkyrie/Vendettas )
Something Simillar to the Ard Boyz Rule Pack perhaps? (but hopefully more detailed)
As it stands now I only attend Tourneys that either use a pre published FAQ or have presented some form of rulings in advance on the common issues. So the "no independantly created FAQ" is more of a concern than a feature at least to me. Im sure that there are tons of people who feel exactly the opposite.

I will re-open our forums for the discussion of rules. If you have a question feel free to ask it there and I'll give you an answer. I tend to favor the most conservative approach to addressing questions regarding a rule and common sense is in full effect. I can tell you right now that loop holes are frowned upon. MiniCon is run for the enjoyment of everyone who comes to play. As I have said this is a tournament created for the hobbyists. People that bring beautiful balanced armies are most welcome. That said it is also a competitive event. We have awards for every aspect of the hobby

Sounds great then, I really dont care what the rullings are so long as they are clear and everyone knows up front.
This year all the Valkyrie questions are my main focus. I will keep my eye open and when you have re opened the forums I will give them a check. Anything within 6-8 hour drive for me is in range. I used to work on the road so long drives are more of a joy than an issue for me.
Thanks for the reply GBF, hope the schedule works out so I can attend.

I hate to say, between not having pre-rulings and going by your record of rule interpretations, I would say the "no independent FAQ" is actually a minus in deciding to attend or not.
No disrespect, but tournament FAQs are there for a reason.

We had no problems last year. There are tournies with their own FAQs and if that is what you want then you should play at those ones. If you can make it out I'll buy you a case of Dos Equiis.

I guess my question would be this:
Page 69 of the rules classifies ramming as a subcategory of tank shocking.
Not to sound biased or anything but are you going to be following the rules on this one, or declaring that Deff Rollas cannot be used against vehicles?

The good news is that Ard Boyz will be over by the time this event rolls out. Last year GW scheduled the semi finals the same day and a closeby store in Raleigh held the Ard Boyz games there.

Hi again everyone!
This past month of July was a busy one for me... two Indy GTs (Big Waaagh & Necro) plus the first round of Ard Boyz! Wow! My team has secured our venue and everything is a big go!
MiniCon will take place on the weekend of October 10-11 and will be held again at the University Towers on the campus of North Carolina State University in downtown Raleigh, NC. The cost to register is only $35. Yes you read that right... it only costs $35 to play! We are the most economical independent GT in the country. Currently we are working on a nice package for discounted rooms at a close by hotel... more on that as soon as we have put the package rate together.
The upper cap for this GT is 50 players. Last year we had 20 players and by the look of the responses I have received so far this will fill up fast. If you would like to register then send me a PM for instructions. Don't wait too long. I'll create a waiting list as soon as the first 50 slots fill up.
Tomorrow morning I'll post more details and provide a link to our GT forums.

MiniCon is an 1850 point GT that will be held in Raleigh on October 10 - 11. Here is our FAQ:
1. How do we get signed up? PayPal signup?
Send me a PM for instructions. Let me know what race you intend to play and send me your name and email address so I can add you to our email list for important notifications. It’s best to send me an email (moodhoney@yahoo.com) so I’ll know you plan to attend.
2. Do you have specific requirements for lists, models, etc that people should know about?
Here are forums:
http://skullbonez.yuku.com/directory
You have to register to view them… that is how it works. : )
3. Can you give a break-down of what the scoring is going to be?
As we get closer to the event I will post the breakdown on the forums. Sportsmanship and appearance are very important. We put sportsmanship first – if someone receives a zero from an opponent for their soft scores both parties will be brought forth to discuss this with the judges.

Hello Everyone!
The team is in full swing now so expect to hear from us more often as we get closer to the GT. I will release an explanation of how the scoring works later this week. This year we want to provide more prize support.
There will be open gaming on Friday evening starting at 6pm and I will be there with my award winning daemonic horde. Come out and join the fun!
I have spoken with the team and we have decided to limit the event to the first 40 players that register. This will allow us to offer another premiere event with lots of beautiful tables to play on with your armies. I have played at Adepticon, The Big Waaagh, The Necro and other independent GTs and I can say for sure that none of them come close to our tables. If we fill up before you can register you'll be put on our waiting list.

Now why on earth would you schedule this tourney when we are playing Duke at HOME. There will be no parking, traffic will be awful, and everyone, myself included will be drunk of their ass, especially at UT.
But there is one thing that is good about UT: the chicks are hot =)
