K , basically the problem is this:

old weapon blisters exist, but too expensive , while new one doesnt come with a specify type you need ( they throw a mix in , like devastator squad for example )

I suppose GW could come up with the basic box ( for example , the head , body , arm , leg , accessories
while keeping the special weapons / heavy weapons on seperate sprue)

Do you like the idea ? where you can buy exactly what you need , while keeping the uneeded ones at a low lvl?
maybe perhaps if GW is kind they'll lower the price due to the less amount of plastic used ( this is sarcasm i guess since we know the price
is way too expensive to reflect the plastic's price lol )

( wouldnt this idea solve the problem of people complaining specific bits are over priced atm? or there just isnt enough of the preferred type in the mixed boxes )

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

It makes sense from a hobby perspective - I buy a few squads of Marines and then buy a few HW and SW boxes to outfit them. But from an entry level - and remember that GW wants their customer base to be parents buying for kids who only care about the game for 6-18 months - explaining to a mother that no, her son can't play with just that $50 box, but that he also needs these two $25 boxes, that won't go down well.

No, I think the mixed are, and will always be the favorite, more financially efficient, and more interesting.

I think mixed is the way to go.
.. but I think the mixed boxed sets are not mixed enough.
Example: the Tactical Squad should come with ALL of it's options, ie all heavy weapons, special weapons & sergeant upgrades.
Same with the IG, Eldar, Chaos, Necron (oh wait), Tau

Stray useful bits should not be difficult to come by, let alone needing to scrounge for a basic squad option.
especially in the new bits-retentive GW environment
*harrumph* this is drifting into the land of wish list.

This idea is mass customisation, and it would be a brilliant benefit to customers.

I would expect custom boxes to be more expensive than standard packs of similar size, because there is extra work to be done cutting, picking and packing the parts.

Unwanted an unused bits are only slightly more useful than the sprue they came on. On their own they are useless, you're forced to find a reason to use them. It'd be like if every pair of blue jeans came with a free cod piece; few would use them and if they did it wouldn't be how it was intended.

I'm a bit inbetween on this one. Devastator box is a good compromise, but something like say the genestealer sprue with its two feeder tendrils, two acid maws, two implant attacks and two flesh hooks is just plain irritating!

I'd love it, especially for my Tyranids. Right now I am making CC oriented Warriors and require more than a ridiculous amount of investment.

3 Warriors per box.

I get the Scything Talons, no problem. Toxin Sacs, Adrenal Glands, Flesh Hooks, all covered for all three.

And one set of Rending Claws.

I hear your pain, my friend. Tyranid sprues are ridiculously light on upgrades. Don't get me started on extended carapaces for Warriors.

Ive played nids for 14 years..

Do you run into players and environments where you have to have carapaces and rending on all your models showing, IE WYSIWYG?

For the most part I just give an army list, and explain what is what and noone ever hassles me about using the actual rending or carapace bit (its rediculouse and the rending claws are so goofy looking).

Collecting IG, the shear number of melta weapons I need is rediculous. GW really expects me to buy 12 command squads so I can get the melta's I need?

Nope, they expect you to go to a bitz website and get them. Try The Warstore or Bitz and Kits

LunaHound - stop jacking my ideas! hah hah hah.

On a more serious and to the topic note: GW really should do something about how they represent their Imperial/Chaos Space Marines (to reduce shelf clutter) - and could apply this to all other ranges. They could easily break almost everything down into a basic-item (marine on foot, tank chasis, etc) and upgrade (tactical squad sprue, dev spures, razorbacks, crusaders, etc) which would reduce the number of items they stick into a box, allow them to reduce prices, get a better idea of what people are buying and why, make replacing defect items cheaper/easier, and simplify their inventories.

I'm already writing a note to GW about this. For kicks.

heh, hence the laughter. Get with the game! hehehhehe.

Question is how do we get GW to actually listen to us? Other than boycotting or writting thousands of letters at the same time?

Man how I'd love to get melta guns in Space Marine boxes. I know that I could order them from bitz shops, but that's not very functional option if you live in Finland, cause the packing comes more expensive than the meltaguns (right?)

Win/Draw/Lost statics
Space Orks: 11/1/1
Space Marines: 10/2/5
Lizardmen: 8/2/3
High Elves: 13/2/2 and one tournament victory!
Dark Eldar: 1/0/0

I thought Tactical marines had all the special weapons on the sprue. I would have liked Cadians to have that option, they have the option for a lasgun equipped sergeant on the sprue.

Keep it as is but make sprues available on mail order.

It wouldn't be perfect but it'd be pretty good.

So the idea is for GW to put BWbitz out of business?

ATM , we cant.

The only sure way to beat GW into listening is having a brand new game company that incorporates all these improvement.
If they do end up successful , GW will then copy the ideas.

IMO they should realease another box for special weapons/heavy weapons for each race, that way they dont have to change much.

I say no, because the varied mix may not be what most want, but it's just smarter to play it safe and include 1 of almost every weapon in the box (Except for tac squads. Where's my MM/HB?)

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Would players be opposed to having a different looking sculpt representing plasma weapons? The same for melta and flamers?

I would definetly put time and effort into selling affordable Special weapons on our site if the players embrace them. I think I could get the price to around 1.00-1.50 for pewters.

I voted yes, but what I really want back is the itemized bits from their own website back.

That would be nice.

Is it not funny how GW is pretty much trying to limit online and non GW store sales, but at the same time eliminate the GW bits store.

Making the only available source for bits, Online Bits stores?

Oh the irony..

I have to say that I prefer the Assorted pieces in the current GW packaging, I find it extremely useful for converting. I have got to admit though that if they would just make their prices a bit cheaper...
