Do you have any Superstitions? (Wargamming related or other wise)
Whenever I am working at the register there is an aussie mint of a certain dollar coin that portrays the fluer-di-lys. If I am handed this coin, I believe that it will be a good day.
I also strive to keep as many of these coins in my wallet as possible. (I am loath to give them up)
When it comes to a very important roll of the dice in wargamming (matchdeciding or epic roll etc) then I kiss my tooth necklace and offer a prayer to Lady Luck. Needless to say this gets more than a few odd glances from my opponents/onlookers. My girl hasn't let me down yet. Apart from that one time where my friend did it first and in his prayer told her that I called her a b*tch. (seriously, true story)

GASP! You use the accursed mark of the French royals as a good luck charm? I hope your head doesn't mysteriously become unattached! Superstitions eh? Hmmm, no lie I do listen to songs that are grand in nature, IE Rule Britannia!, and the NA for the USSR, in order to pump me up for a match. Oh yeah, in the States, I get some straaaange looks. I was seriously born in the wrong country and the wrong time, or right place right time....Anyway future societal upheavals as a freedom fighter aside, that is about as close to superstition as I get. Oh, and I absolutely never throw stuff in my pockets away once I start something like a match or a video game session, etc. I don't know why, I just don't.

In britain two pence pieces have fluer-di-lys on them and most people find them a pain in the neck.

It first start when I realised that it was the symbol for the sisters of battle. (took me a while to make the connection) but I got kinda serious when I accidently handed ine to a custome as change, and then had the worstest, longest, baddest time at work ever. I made sure to never give another one away.

It's an old rhyme, one for sorrow, two for joy...and so on. If you see one magpie it will bring you sorrow, two: joy.

Not so much a table based superstition, but a superstition nonetheless. I believe in pre-game omens. I had just read one of the books by Titus Livy which read a lot like a fantasy novel in parts, minus dragons. I really got into the auspices and omens these generals would ignore or fall for whole heartedly.
The two that stand out in my mind are the following. Once when I was driving down to the Sentry Box in Calgary to play my buddy's Dark Elves, I saw two Hawks in the sky battling. I chose one and watched. Then, the one I had chosen won and chased the other one off. I won the game later in the afternoon. The other time was, I was in the parking lot of the same shop, going to play the same buddy on a different Saturday and on my way into the store I saw an Alsatian taking a dump in the bushes right by the door with a big red dog boner going. Instantly, I knew I was going to loose. And I did.

Taking the term Auspex a bit tooo literally there, then again I cal it being a full moon a good omen for my SW so I can't talk.

So if you see a dog taking a dump with a boner you don't INSTANTLY suspect that today could be a bad day?

Wargamming ones...mhhh....I tend to hope around a bit and mumble to myself when I roll dice, although this might be more habit then superstition.Although I do belive that the hoping helps my roll be a good one.
As for everyday ones,I belive that I must get out of bed putting my left foot on the floor first, bad things, horrible things happen if I do not do this!

Reason why they are considered bad luck is simple
(1) too many people had something land on them as they walked under, paint splatters, tools,... the person upthe ladder
(2) mirrors cost money, if it was broken by hand you most likely cut yourself, takes ages to clean up

Yes, that is why both MGS and I said it was more due to common sense than superstition.

I feel that if something bad happens, the rest of the day just goes downhill. I find the best thing to do iscurl up in a ball in bed and wait for the new day.
If I cannot get to sleep untill about 4 in the morning, the next day I am invariably sick. whether I vomit spectacularly (hasn't happened for a few years) or just have a throat so sore I can't drink water, I can never sleep the night before.

I worked as stage crew on a play one time. I want to say it was a 6 week run on it... though memory is a little fuzzy because it was over 10 years ago. After a few days I got into the habit of going to the store across the street and getting myself a 1 liter Mt Dew and this drink called Rain by Snapple which i don't even know if they still make it. I would save the Dew for later and kill the Rain before the show out back while powering down a few smokes. The few times I deviated from this ritual, the night went to gak. Things like the smoke machine deciding not to work. One of the cast threw a piece of costume off and it landed wrong blocking her exit where she had to make a quick exit off stage. I had to belly crawl through the back during her musical number and get said piece before her song was up. Stuff like that. I made sure to go to great pains to keep that ritual up after I put 2 and 2 together.

I have a gold lighter that I got from my grandpa. My days were generally better when I had it in my pocket. I can't bring it to school though.
I also consider spiders/moths to be good luck charms, so if one gets in the house, I let them back outside to have some of their luck transferred to me.
Yeah, I'm weird. but It works.

There are ways round superstitions. e.g if you see a magpie, Shoot it.
Walk under a ladder? Shoot the guy on top of the ladder first and take it down.
