How to play 40k:

Choose an army...Orks
Write an army list... got a 2,000pt one
Go and buy the miniatures...done...wait, actually, not done. Where do i get flash gitz?

So, you can't but flash gitz (it's a shame, but i'm sure it's cheaper and more fun to make your own). Anyway, how DO i model flash gitz exactly. I definitely want them in my army as they are a vital part of my plan for worl~, i mean, wargaming domination! I was originally going to just use ork boyz with shootaz, and then upgrade their guns with spare parts from my 2 lootas sprues. Then i could upgrade the actual Boyz with parts from my warbiker sprues...

Sounds okay to me, but will it cut the mustard for a heavy support choice. I mean, will they look 'Heavy' enough...any suggestions?

Well, first off, Flash Gitz are utterly horrible on the table. But short of that, if you really feel you must have them, just give some nobz some really big flashy guns, and some really showy clothig.

Flash gits are a kind of freebooting nob, noted for ostentatious dress and ecentric outlook, so 'pirates' or 'pimpz' or whatever the heck really.

But I do think they will look better using nob models than boyz, which will look too small imo. Snazgunz should be a focal point and perhaps to differentiate them from Lootas, perhaps model them as carried heavy weapons in a similar way to marine heavy weapon poses.

You can buy FlashGitz here http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/orcs-body-p-253.html or for the US, I think the Warstore sells them. They are compatible with the GW Ork arms and heads.

I've bought x10 of these as if you look at the detail, not only do the have the cloaks to match a Freebootaz style, they also are wearing body armour (for the 'eavy armour). I've not physically handled them yet because I'm on a posting in the Middle East, but my Girlfriend assures me they are 'very cool' as I will pick them up when I next go back onleave.

A bit of everything really....... Titanicus, Bolt Action, Cruel Seas, Black Seas, Blood Red Skies, Kingdom Death, Relic Knights, DUST Tactics, Zombicide the lit goes on.............

I see these threads pop up now and then, and almost everytime the person thinks boyz will cut it. THEY WONT. Flash Gitz are nobs with bad ass guns. Therefore to start you need a box of nobz. In that box is options to give normal nobz some cool looking guns. Take those, and add extra barrels, make some long barreled. Its not really hard to do honestly. Some shootas for extras and what not is the easiest way to go.
Presto your done. Unless you want to make them look the way the fluff says they look. Then on some websites you can buy Ork heads with pirate hats. Also they like the "bling" and you could either make that from GS or goto a craft store and buy REALLLY small chains and paint them bronze and gold.

While I agree with Fafnir, that didn't stop me from wanting to build Flashgitz! The concept was just to good to pass on.

I had a handful of AoBR nobs laying around as well as a spare burna sprue, the process was fairly simple from there. Chop off the nobs arms, remove the burny bit from the burna, add a couple barrels and you're set. The most important thing is the paint. make them flashy and striped pants are a must
here area few shots of my flash gitz. I tend to only give them 'more dakka' so I kept the guns simple and most just have two barrels (though I now see the pics show the 2 with a single barrel).

Hope these help you find some inspiration, and best of all, most people have a few AoBR nobz and spare burna sprues in the bitz box.

Nice conversions, Fleck, I haven't seen burnas used that way before. Looks a pretty good use for spare burna bits - but personally I'd have added something at the end of the burna hoses at their waists, some sort of power pack or similar...

Yeah, I had that thought mid-way through the conversion. Couldn't be bothered to do anything fancy, I needed them for a game the next day. It's hard to see from the angle of the photos, but I clipped the hoses and reworked them so that they run into the pouches on the nob models waist, then green stuffed a connection. I thought the hose added a lot to the conversion, this at least gave a little purpose to it's existence. I should probably mention the conversion will require a bit of green stuffing to get the burna arms flush with the nob bodies. Nothing major, just a gap filling.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys, but after a bit of thought i think i'm just gonna put some really big gunz on some nobs. then i'll use various bitz box pieces to make 'em look shootier, more dakkier, and blastier. This won't look great and i expect them to be a waste of points on the tabletop, but TBH i'm bored of Orks now and am moving on to blood angels...

I used normal boyz for my Flash Gitz, but gave them as much armour as possible to make them look cool and gave some targets on their snazzguns and used the heads with target finders on them (look below)

yeh, but as an ork boy always say: 'im gonna be a nob someday.'

that i mean is: flash gits is nobs with big guns, but they could also be tough, wealthy skarboyz with big guns .

The angels of death do not understand the meaning of the work 'krumpin'... only the righteous may seek refuge in our ranks, as well as the grammatically correct!

I sculpted mine based off of the older fluff/art with the glamtastic pirate theme. Black Orc bodies with spare Nob heads, painted with ridiculous patterns.

for my guns, that's tough. I give them blastas so what i went with was a simple shoota/slugga base (chop off the barrel), and then (this could sound odd) slice some sluggas neatly in half and pair matching tops or bottoms with the smooth/sliced parts facing out and the original tops in, with just a little space between them. i then paint the internal portions glowing green and add some wires coming out the back.

....maybe i should try and get some pics togethe...

Blood Angels do not run...they glide. Orks have only been known to glide through the air after being hit with a demolisher cannon, but they have not yet mastered this method of mobility as their different limbs always seem to fly in different directions...
