Seeing how I have been surfing this site for so long, enjoying everyones blogs, posts and galleries, I figured it was time to share a little myself. My local game group has put together a little "Tale of Many Gamers" competition. I have decided not to necessarily go for a competitive or cheese army but one of character and fun. I will update weekly...something.

The basis for the army is a Radical Xanthian Inquisitor who uses assassins, psykers and daemonhosts...a lot of them. With any luck and a little skill it will be a full conversion (in some way) army. Here is my first 500 points.

Due to the rules of the competition I have to once again re-adjust this list.

Inquisitor Lord w/ Scourging, Needle Pistol, Power Weapon, Icon of the Just
- (2) Combat Servitors w/ Heavy Bolter x2
(1) Veteran Warrior w/ Hellgun
(1) Familiar

Storm Trooper Squad (6) w/ Plasma Gun x2
Storm Trooper Squad (10) w/ Plasma Gun x2
Storm Trooper Squad (10) w/ Melta Gun x2

Had to drop the psycannon, I need to stick to my psychic theme. If I dont then I will lose the feel of the army. That theme will come in to play in the next stage with 2 groups of (3) death cult assassins modelled (minus the female below) to look like "psychic warriors". Daemonhost will follow in 3rd stage...maybe the second as well, depending on points.

Here is the start of my project. This model will be my Inquisitor Lord with a power weapon. This is the initial mock up of my inquisitor, the hammer will be removed, with icons added soon. The boots will have =I= icons melded in to them.

Here is the rest of my initial 500 points.

Starting with my Deathcult Assassin. This is a mock up as well, the hands will be fixed to a more proportionate size and extra nick nacks will be added.

Next are my mock ups of my Stormtroopers, I cut off the ammo clip and barrel, added a larger, wider barrel. I was trying to go for a compact submachine gun type of hellgun...think FNP90 or MP5. Its done using wood dowel rod and a tube from a pen. I dont have access to plastic tubes.

Nice use of alternate figures, although I think the scouts could have more done, to their weapons especially. For instance, why would a hellgun need a spent cartridge ejection slot if its an energy weapon? Also maybe get rid of the foresight, just to make them look even less like bolters though. Interesting progress though, I await more.

cool stuff though I have to personally say im not a fan of the wooden peices on the end of the weapons.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Do you know your Inquisitor Lord has to have at least 3 retinue members?

Good stuff so far :]

The bolter/hellgun is in progress. I just ordered today some plastic rods. The ejection ports are going to be filled in with green stuff and the front side post will be removed.

I wasnt aware I had to have 3 retinue members...thought it was may. Guess I looked over that little tid bit. Shouldnt deter me, just subract 3 guys from the squads and add them to him...maybe.

The bolters are P90SD style. I like the idea, but it does look a bit rough.

Updated pictures coming next week. Due to the rules of the competition, I had to adjust my list. I wasnt happy with the compact hellgun look, so Im going to take an easy out. Remove the front side post and ammo clip, fill in the ejection port. Should still get the desired look. Pictures coming soon.

looks promising.

I think the stormtrooper barrels awould be better in hollow plastic.

I probably will use the plastic tubing on the "scout" models, there will be a total of 30 of those models. I also have another squad, that will look like a stealth squad...black bodyglove style clothing, etc. Here is a mock up of them. This is an alternative to the other version of the compact hellgun idea.

Some green stuff to fill in the ejection port, and some green stuff "bands" to hold the power hose along the arm will be added.

You suck, now im going to have to step all my stuff up... I've done some repositioning on some of my crisis suits, but nothing too spectacular. I have been spending most of my time stripping all of the stuff i have come in possession of; back to plastic.

You will never believe what happened on saturday, I messaged JJ to see how he's been. Rather than messaging back he called me to tell me he wanted to GIVE me his tau. Yes, i did mean to say give. So now, what I originally intended to be a small have fun army has turned into a full out apocalypse mech tau army. I havent added in all the new stuff but i am estimating to have around 4.5 - 5k. Thats why i've been doing nothing but stripping models for a week

Your stuff is looking really nice so far, i will definitely stay glued to see what you've got going on. Im curious to see how that inquisitor turns out for you. I will be updating my project log with all the tau stuff in the next few days, seeing as now everything else is headed for the back burner with this tale of many gamers going on.

Here are some of my new models. The first of my nearly finished squads of Inquisitorial Stormtroopers. Still a bit rough, but you get the idea. Also there is my familiar. I had done more work on the inquisitor but she is just not coming out the way I want with green stuff after reviewing the pictures, so back to the drawing board.

I think those stormtroopers look much better now! I'm not sure if the hoses need bands to hold them up (i.e. they will look ok without them), but if you have the time and are willing to do it, go for it! My only concern is that the weapons are still immediately identifiable as bolters, but I'm not certain how you could fix that... Perhaps, if you have access to loads of IG spares, the end pieces of lasguns that protrude from the body of the weapon (the muzzle and those two 'pipes') would make perfect substitutes for the boltgun's barrel and sight, and serve to further reinforce the notion that it's an energy weapon.

I'm assuming he is still waiting for the plastic tubes.

Yes, I ordered the plastic tubing yesterday in fact and should have it by the weekend.

The inquisitor, as you will see tonight is taking a turn for the corrupt. Greenstuffing =I= icons are very difficult and I cant seem to get the hang of it. So Im going to go the route of corruption with a hint of imperial insignias.

Gray has a bunch of =I= brass icons, you may be able to swindle some or all of them from him.

Cool...if I can get a hold of him. I did just make a mold during lunch with greenstuff and inquisitor torquemana (whatever) belt icon. Came out good, we will see how well it holds up.

Here are a few images of the power weapon/daemonhammer/force weapon/etc for my inquisitor...its a little rough but its the early stages.

Im also filling in parts of the model...as you can see the green stuff above her breasts to eliminate the tank top look, I might try and put a high collar around the neck...not sure yet.

I am thinking of removing one of the eagle heads and centering the remaining one and reversing the direction she holds the hammer.

Another option is to remove both eagles and put another daemon head on the other side. Or do double eagle. Or keep as is lol.

Could use some C&C here. The hammer's game nature will change through out the competition, growing in power, from power weapon to eventually either a daemonhammer or force hammer...or if I choose and annointed hammer.

If the demon looking side is the strike face of the hammer, pull off one eagle and center then flip the way she is holding it.

If the Eagle is the strike face leave it as is. I would also consider beefing it up to make it look like the dominant side of the hammer, right now the demon side looks a little bigger.

/2 cents

I think a high collar would look kinda cool too, maybe like a halter jacket with a little boobage or something.

I will probably swap it around, leaving the daemon head on the dominant side and one eagle head on the other...showing her "allegiance"

I have to be honest, I'm not digging the hammer. I looks a little oversized, I think the stock hammer would be better.

I agree. Im thinking I might drop the daemon head and double side the eagle one, it will flush up fairly well when I mocked it up.

Still waiting for plastic tubing, so nothing new for the storm troopers. The inquisitor is still a point of frustration. I think I am going to leave her hammer as a thunder hammer model, and clean up her "shirt" but thats it. I think a very, unassuming woman in charge of daemonhosts, stormtroopers and assassins is scary enough.

Here are my two combat servitor conversions, still rough but close to be finished.

I think you should stick with your modded hammer, but I'd go for double eagle, just to make things absolutely clear.

Edit: Really nice work on the two servitors, I especially like the flying one. The one on foot, however, might want his weapon a little closer to his body - it's so large that, at that distance, it looks like he will over-balance.

I wasnt going to do the double eagle mod because the two pieces were filed down on the inside to fit together and would look rather crappy...however, looking through my bits box, I found two more So I will finish her tonight.

Your right about the servitor, it was overbalanced, I had to put an arm on the other side, luckily the metal servitor arm I found...once again in my gloriously extensive bits box...balanced it out. I still might shorten it but doubtful.
