Ok so this is the thread for Week #1 of finished goals from another thread that was started for people painting up armies and setting goals for them selves! I still have to finish my goal so I will not post yet! Hopefully some other people will soon and I hope everyone can give everyone who posts their goal updates, some feed back, suggestions, encouragement, etc!

For people apart of the WIP Army Project: Remember to try and limit your pictures to up to 3 so it doesnt get overwhelming and try to give us some different angles! If you got time and dont mind, share a little about how you painted the models and colors you used. Kind of like a mini tutorial so people can get ideas and try some stuff out!

The Story : Ok , so this week i went with LOTR character Lurtz . I had two less days since i joined wednesday night . I immediately decited that this whas gonna be a leather and armor only model . But instead for going for the noobish all sorched brown and boltgun metal mini i went with a astronomical amount of leather based colours , and also tried to have different tones of metal(clean or new , rusty and then old.) Metalics used where boltgun metal , chainmail , tin bitz . Leather colours where bestial brown , snakebite leather , graveyard earth , terracota , sorched brown and bubonic brown . Then i added 1/100000 of a drop of white into the mix to highlight . I also used chaos black on one strip og leather . Skin whas painted scab red , then heavely washed with baal red , let dry and then rewashed with *drumroll* devlan mud .

My favorite parts of this model paintwice where the face , the shield and all the leather (about 90% of the model lol.) My least favorite was the bow , becouse i tried a miserable attempt at doing wood based NMM (sound wierd but i've seen it done fairly well by a mate of mine .) and after the third time of failing i just gave up and left it as it whas . The shield whas some fun to paint . If anyone is looking for painting any metal like that(swords , armour , bolters , tanks or whatever.) The technique used whas the following .
Paint it boltgun metal . Wash with sepia after paint has dried . Drybrush very lightly(like a dust effect) on different parts of the shield with Tin Bits . Wash with devlan mud .

The base was fairly simple to do . I just drilled two holes on one side of the base and then use my clippers/tweesers to emtpy the area . Then I cut some cardboard(from a lightbulb box.) and covered the area i cut . Filled with PVA glue after gluing the IG dude to the cardboard . I've usaly used ducktape for this , but the cardboard did great . Just dont remove it like you would normally do with the duck tape After dried put two layers of a mud based colour and wash with devlan mud or sepia , depending on how dark you want the mud and shades to be . Then paint the model !

The White dots are NOT on the model ! They are simply dust on the lens ! I sure hope i'll be able to clean that up , or im gonna get punched in the face ! By Mr.Clean

Lunahound, I must say I really like the pale dryads, haven't seen them done in that style before.

But the orange base seems to clash badly with the white and pink of the models.

I disagree with the orange discussion . I think it really pops out everything and kinda ties the pale together , eye candy to me

I agree with Gretar, the orange draws peoples attention to the model and then the actual dryad is well painted!!

Im in the 'keep the Orange, pale and pink' colours camp. Looks amazing.

Gretar, I like what you've done but I'd suggest using a different model for the base; the catachan is quite large, and makes the uruk hai small by comparison.

Great ideas though, looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with next!

It draws your eyes to the base and then as the white is a contrast your attention gets focused on that instead...

I expected this to pop up Sunday so I was planning on most of my painting today and tomorrow. however I've been invited to a game at my FLGS that stars both my Destroyer Lord and Spyder, so pictures up tomorrow (maybe even Sunday but I hope it doesn't come down to that).

Where are the rest ? I whanna know where the rest is O.O Where'nt there like 15 people gonna participate ?

Oh and i change my goal , since this is gonna be a VERY busy week in shcool ! I might be home around 5/6 and then have to do homework and more ! So im putting down only 2 veterans , and have the ratling an option(al) goal if i have the time

why did lurtz just kill a guardsman? Did the ring open a time portal or something?

I am running behind... As the OP indicated this would be an "end of week" event, I was shooting for Sunday. I am also doing more than one figure... so NYAH NYAH NYAH!

ok i gotta take pics....i forgot completely :( (i was painting and olf daemonette in skin colours, as you never see that)

Well heres mine. Start of my Soul Drinkers SM army... these ones are csm count as Assault Marines until I get actual ones, but I have general Graevus from the book and lygris there... I still have 5 more marines to do that will be done today or tomorrow but I wont be able to take pictures so heres the ones that are already done!

Like the models and the poses you amde on the counts as assault marines . But your purple is having coverage problems . Prime white for next time you paint purple

They were primed white. But theres a black wash on them as they are supposed to be a really dark purple

Here we have 3 FW drop sentinels, fully constructed and primed white. My plans for this stop here until these come in. I'm going to pose them with the muzzle blasts coming out of the grav-chute nozzles on the underside, whit the sents posed like they're droppping in lol.

Here's the Sentinels built and primed, still debating a paint job for them. All weapons are magnatized, however I found that spiders decided to spinn some webs after my second priming(gotta clean those off).





And here's a guard squad I did while waiting for glue to set, primer to dry on one side, etc...

I cant do it this week I managed to finish 5 but I was planning on doing 16... I dont really want to post a 'no way finished' squad so im going to save it till next week. Sorry guys!

Don't think I'll have all 3 walkers finished tonight even aiming at a simple gaming standard on them. Friday was simply too shattered to paint and last night took the kids out trick or treating them tackled a bombsite of a house after finally getting them to bed. Since I was up most of last night with my baby daughter being unwell too tired to get the last bits done tonight.
So next week going to aim to have them done and also finish the GJB squad I started dove weaving between. Can get a couple of WiP pics up on the walkers, but the best camera I have is my phone so might not be amazing .

I am also doing more than one figure... so NYAH NYAH NYAH!

There are two model's .. one as the mini and one as base material

Edit: These look kind of rubbish due to Dakka's resize. The actual images if you click, are 3264x2448.

Now I am aware that the sgt's powersword is incomplete - I am trying to decide whether or not to do it in Hawk Turquoise to match the other accents or to do it in liche purple, both highlighted to white. I think the Turquoise will be better. Regardless, I need a new pot, as my old pot is only good for eyes, being all dried up.

Anyhow... I am pretty burned out of painting. I had to hurry to get ready for a tournament that happened today. Managed 3rd place... which is always nice.
