Love notes are pathetic and corny bits of nonsense made by lonely pre-teens who don't have the balls to talk to women face-to-face.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Most couples I know would just hug and smooch instead. Why write a silly little note to your partner when you can have direct physical and verbal contact with them?

Ah,but a note between a couple concerning "what I'd like to do tonight" is hardly the same thing as "Hi, I've been staring at the back of your head in history class for the past two months and...gee your cool."
I have to agree with Cheese on this one,man up and step up,talk to the lady face to face.
However,if you can't do that...make her a CD with lots of songs expressing how you feel...might I suggest Rick Astley to start.

What if you're in a longer-distance relationship? Sending a love letter could really make someone's day, and it'd mean far more. How easy is it to send an e-mail saying "i love you <333" to a person? Writing a love note or letter means that you actually took the time to think about what you wrote, physically put it onto a piece of paper, and mailed it to the person. That means hell of a lot more then just a 2 second e-message to someone.

It's complicated."

"Love" is no more than the desire to make babies.
If I were to write a Love Note, it would end up just being a video of Cats mating or something.

I've never written a love note, by the way. I've proofread one for a friend, and I've gotten a couple a long time ago. I have no problem with the idea, in a note you have the time to craft your words perfectly, so you can potentially say things better than you ever would in conversation. But we aren't all poets, and it's pretty hard to keep on the right side of the line between heartfelt and schmaltzy. Even if its schmaltzy, though, sentiment counts for a lot.

Actually they are. "Love" is just the need to procreate that has had artificial social constructs placed upon it.

You did see the part regarding "artificial social constructs"?
In any case, that only applies to the example of the Elderly Couple.
The "Love" of a Parent towards the child is nothing but a chemical stimuli in the brain telling you "Hey, you've invested a lot of energy and resources into that thing, don't feth it up."

And love between a young couple is also heavily driven by chemicals in the brain. But so is hunger, and that's still very real, and in no way an artifical social construct.

Huh? If I were Heartless, I would be, well, dead. And no, my Heart is not broken, though there is a genetic disposition I have most likely inherited for certain maladies of the Cardiac Tissue. sebster wrote:And love between a young couple is also heavily driven by chemicals in the brain. Errm... You mean the need to Procreate is driven by Biochemical reactions. That is what is real. "Love" is just a social construct set to give arbitrary rules for that feeling.

Actually, I do believe that the term that would be most appropriate for your "realisation" would be "Android". A Robot is "a virtual or mechanical artificial agent", while An android "is a robot or synthetic organism designed to look and act like a human" which I very well may be, were I constructed and programmed to believe so.

Love notes are a fantastic art form that his been abused and forgotten by so many. Trust me, the unbridled joy I have seen on a woman's face from receiving one, especially when she feels forgotten or a little down, is nearly indescribable. Women are by design romantic, and they love it when men put the extra bit of effort into making them feel special. BTW, I have written several love notes, I usually find the inspiration to write one after I am done reading Lord Byron's work...
