I got my review copy yesterday. I'm going to write a full review later, but so far, let me put it this way:

The good news is: it's an almost 100% percent faithfull recreation of the board game we all know and love.

The bad news is: it's an almost 100% percent faithfull recreation of the board game we all know and love.

Now that Valve's Steam is a North American distributor for the game I feel I am sort of needing to buy it.

I never played the tabletop game but I have been stoked about what I have seen concerning the PC game. Should I buy it? Yay or nay?

You do realize that this is most likely the reason for all of the c&d right?

No, it's certainly the reason for them to seek to secure their IP and work to ensure any website or hobbyists are working with them and carrying suitable disclaimers etc.

The reason for the C and D letters is that they are a lazy, arrogant and belligerently aggressive bullying company that doesn't deserve your custom...

I still just don't understand why they're not putting it out for the PS3. They felt it would be too much of a risk as they hadn't produced stuff for the PS3 before.....Er.....why don't you just hire someone to help with the coding?

Ps3 might come along later, but seeing as it requires a lot of re-fething around with the code they decide to stick to the pc and 360 for the time being.

Coding for PS3 and Xbox 360 is totally different, so it takes considerably more effort to release on both consoles. If they feel that the PS3 version will not generate enough sales, then they will not bother.

The X-box 360 release of this game is receiving god-awful reviews. The amount of content that had to be removed for cyanide to meet microsofts load time limits has meant that the X-box 360 version is a poor shadow to the PC version.

The biggest point is that they've removed progression from online multiplayer games (earning SPP's) for the X-box version which removes most of the point for a lot of the gamers and all of the fun for watching your team progress.

Epic Fail on behalf of Cyanide and Microsoft.

QFT.

If there was even a remote chance that anyone who was a gamer whith any smidgeon of clout in the company they'd have found a different approach. sadly, it is the grey-suited tossers who are making money and calling the shots buy exploiting the nerdly desires of gamers. Shameful.

GW I hope you die of embarassment.

And to be honest, I really can't see this being that big of a success. BB is a turn based strategy game. Sure it has its fans, and that's fine, but I really can't see it being of much appeal to "today's generation". My kids won't touch it with a bargepole 'cos its boring. They're much more into CoD and the like. More instant gratification, more HUR! So BB will only likely appeal to existing fans of the game. Of which there are a few hundred world wide? And whom they have right royally pissed off with their recent shenanikins? Way to go! Meat heads.

Really? That explains a lot. I was wondering if I got a semi-finished review-copy, because there's so much stuff missing.

I can tell you, from what I've played so far, it's not neraly as fun or engaging as the board game. You have a bunch of identical looking characters and can't even change their colors. And without a human opponent sitting in front of it's just not the same.

Its good and watching the animations beat up each oher is a laugh. Its a game I will play a fair bit so not a total loss for me, although I agree it could have been much better.

My issues so far are, text size is terrible, I have a 42inch widescreen telly and can barely read some of the boxes/players names etc.

Team moding is too basic, not enough options, and although I may not of looked hard enough, on the 360 I can;t seem to change names, was under the impression this was an option. I can name my team, but can't change player names.

The news from above that SPP's aren't available online will also be a big negative.

Although the one added bonus is its inspiring me to look into building up more teams for the table top again.

I don't believe you can change player names in the PC version... but if it so I've got some work to do!

Hmmm... no Online team progression? If so, that's a miss for me. Shame too, I've been really looking forward to this game.

You can't even ra-paint your team. It's either blue or red. A real shame, I was so looking forward to field my yellow and purple colored Orc Team, the Falkau Fanatics.

Changing player names is kind of hidden.

Go to the Purchase Player screen.
Select the player you want to change the name of.
Select the "Player Details" button.
Here, at least on PC, you have the option to change the name, skin, and armor of the player.
After changing things, you can click the purchase button to add the player to your team.

If you back out of the screen without purchasing, you lose the changes.

It sounds like they pulled a hell of a lot out of hte XBox version.
There are about 40+ color choices for PC. As well as all the logos.

if you are waiting for the physical copy, that is your choice.
I have been playing since July. I just cgot the free Dark Elves add-on.

I haven't touched the realtime version since once when I installed. Did not like it.

I have a physical copy of the XBox version and I was assured apart from the way multiplayer works it's identical to the PC-version.

Do you guys have music during the matches?
