Needed a reason to start the nids back up again, and with the new releases comming up soon thats all i needed.
The chip for my cam has been lent out to a friend, so the actual test model pics will be put up by friday when i get it back.

So, ill just drop in some pics from said army painter of the basic theme of my army (not 100% since i got pissed off with my slow comp lol, so the blues may be a tad lighter / darker in places)
Basically going for an ice theme to the nids, so ill be working on some icy/snowy bases for them aswell to add to it.








So, this will be the theme im working to, and with any luck ill have pics up on friday.
Digging through various box's ive managed to find whats left of some of my old nid armies, so they will be stripped down and re-painted aswell.

So far what ive found:

3 ravs (claws)
15 horms (need repair)
10 termies (had more, but couldnt repair them)
3 lictors
1 badly damaged thrope


Theme of the army: Rather than just picking a coloured theme for the army (ice) ive decided im also going for a structure theme aswell.
I wont be taking any single wound creatures (no big deal now since warriors are troops)
Also, i wont be taking MC's in my list (i may have to buy a trygon to paint up though, ill see if i can hold off)
So the army will consist of medium sized gribblies.

anyways, thats it for now, ill get updates and pics up ASAP.

This color scheme is one of my favorite : the blue are very similar but a tiny bit more green

Where did you find that pic luna? lol, you seem to have an endless supply of pics floating about just for the right time.

I may deviate off theme a bit in places, but i just dont like the red on it, tends to break it up a bit much and draw attention.

Cool. When you said you weren't just doing a colour theme, you were doing a structure theme I thought you meant you would have a piece of the same structure on each base. That could be cool. Your idea sounds cool though.

Thats the color of Tyranid i use in Dawn of War 2 with some photoshop color changes.

Bases will generally just be snow mate with some ice patches on them, i will start adding some built up bases though for more stand-out models.
So i can get a chance to start making some ice crystals again (possibly some dead bodies under the ice too, wanted to try it since i saw victoria lamb's DH's)

I do like the scheme, but i want to drag everything colour-wise into greys, blues and whites.
However, i may end up changing it a bit depending on what im doing (or what ive been drinking at the time)

I actually prefer this, not sure if its the angle, but the off-yellow talon colour seems pretty decent.
I may have to do another test mini and go with this pic as a reference.

I really like this scheme, nice and simple.
I haven't been following all of the rumors so i might be wrong, but apparently neither broodlords nor warriors will remain HQ's, leaving only the tyrant. Hopefully there will be more options, but I wouldn't commit to your midsize theme until you see the options (although heres hoping for good Warrior HQ's!)

This scheme is pretty rad. Can't wait for you to get your camera chip back so we can see how it looks on the minis!

Cobra: Broodlords are now unit upgrades on stealers, so they will be left out.
However, i can have an alpha warrior as HQ.
Not sure on limitations, but it may be possible to take 2.

Sounds good, I haven't heard about the Alpha Warrior yet but it sounds perfect for your theme. Can't wait to see some painted stuff!

All ive heard about the alpha warrior:

Higher stats, it passes some of which onto a unit its with.
Heard people hinting about the lower half of the rav, so chances are you can give it a movement biomorph.
Other things include wings aswell, which i hope is true

Need to get some concept sketches drawn up for that, atleast then i can just scan them onto the comp and upload em.

Looks great so far. On a note of personal preference though, while I think hardlining looks better on most things I almost always prefer drybrushing on the Nid scaley/carapace parts. I feel like it gives it that gritty bone look rather than the clean plastic vibe. But again, that's just what I like personally and your model's very well done.

I think ill be going with drybrushing anyway mate.
Only went on solid lines with this model since it was only a quick 5 min scheme to get an idea what it will look like.

I am thinking about adding a pattern to the carapace though.
Possibly a single colour flame from the edges upwards.
Ill have to grab a box of warriors and play about with the idea for a bit.

Wow I like the list, I had forgot that warriors can count as troops in the new codex. Now you gotta put a trygon or two in just for the fun of it JK Can't wait to see what this looks like on the table.

Lovin' the scheme so far, I also agree with Charlatan on the carapace - needs to be blended or something - meh, looks good though!

Stretch: With any luck mate the list will play half decent.
Im missing tank hunting strength, but the hives can throw out 18 S8 shots between them if needed, without LOS.
So they should be more than up to the job
Also, hoping that the loss of EW in synapse isnt much of a killer, since warriors tend to die quickly to melta fire.
