Mexico is one big giant ball of gak right now. It is unsettling to think how horrible it is, and how that violence may spill over in to the US.

Oil and Enchiladas.

--The whole concept of government granted and government regulated 'permits' and the accompanying government mandate for government approved firearms 'training' prior to being blessed by government with the privilege to carry arms in a government approved and regulated manner, flies directly in the face of the fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

"Law enforcement" matter versus a military matter.

Although a few good Apache/Spectre gun runs on some of these cartel towns would make for great PPV.

At this point Iraq is a law enforcement matter in the same way the situation in mexico is. Hell, the cartels kill a hell of a lot more Americans than Al-Queda to boot. The point is pretty moot though, we're already committed.

True enough. But I think the reason(outside of the standard cynical "LOLOIL" response) we're still in Iraq/Afghanistan is the fact that WE are the ones who brought about the 'regime change'.

We could just leave and let the place rot!

Usually promoting violence railroads a thread into the Pro-use of force Versus Pro-Hugs and Kisses for Terrorism breakup.

But I think since we're now facing the threat of the Drug Eldar--we must leave such petty differences aside!

I'd be insensitive and a nationalist if I didn't care about rot holes like Mexico.

Oh wait, I don't care.

More seriously, the US probably had better reasons public opinion wise for invading Iraq and attacking Afganistan than it has for attacking Mexico. Or more specifically, mexican crime gangs. But it amounts to the same thing, in the end.

Well it also wouldn't be effective, and would probably earn violent reprisal within our own borders considering the number of career cartel criminals within mexico as compared to the population is only high comparatively to us. It's actually still exceedingly low, to the point where carpet bombing of mexico is a bad idea, supported by jingoistic idiots. At that point it would be outside of the ACLUs hands as it would be a war crime.

I'd be insensitive and a nationalist if I didn't care about rot holes like Mexico.

Not really, it would be insensitive and nationalist if you supported bombing them in order to beautify the north american continent.

Oh wait, I don't care.

It's well supported in the fluff that the dark eldar are on a lot of drugs.

Actually I can make a much stronger case for interdiction in Mexico right now. It can be argued we have a compelling state interest to maintain a secure border. Plus we've had to do it before in Mexico.

QFT. We complain (rightfully) about our political corruption and ineptitude in the states. But I am extremely thankfull I don't live in the devil's arsehole that is Mexico. You couldn't pay me to go there, for any reason, at any time.

Agreed, mexico was a larger threat to US security when we were talking about Iraq (meaning it was actually a risk, rather than a fabrication), and it's just gotten worse since.

Only because most americans can locate it on a map. Its harder to blatantly make gak up as a case for war.

Actually it would be really easy. Close the border. Anything moving near the border gets a JDAM.
